The most surreal part is how selfless this guys are. Like, i get they want to save their professor leg, but the second one person dies they should've called the expedition off. His leg is not worth all his students lives.

10:12 !! DON'T elevate the leg ! If you get bitten by a venomous animal, position it below the heart as much as possible. ig it was an accidental slip of tongue but need to put it out there , this is life/death issue irl

I’m not a spider expert but the spider that came out of the shoe looked a lot like a orb weaver. Which has a venom potency of a bee. Unless you’re allergic it’s not fatal. Also orb weavers stay in their web mostly and are unlikely to crawl into a shoe.

The funniest part here? That spider looks like it was based off the Golden Orb-Weaver. While large & venomous, said venom doesn’t affect humans. (The most that he could expect is some mechanical damage at the bite site.) Of all the spiders on this planet, they chose one that’s not dangerous to humans as the model.

You point out something interesting in this video.
It's common to have human villains trying to capture the monsters alive in this kind of films, but it's impossible for most of them to succeed in spite of the intervene of protagnists.
For example, in the film Anaconda, the villain tried to capture the anaconda with a net. Even if the anaconda didn't broke free like what happened in the film, how could the villain transport that giant snake without equipements or companions? He was a strong man, but I don't think he was strong enough for that.

It also would’ve made sense to try and administer the sedatives to different points of the body. That way, parts of the body would be sedated and the creature would have to drag essentially dead weight. I’d still administer this after getting back an hour after the first dose. It might not kill the snake, but it would slow it down tremendously.

It kind of ruins the suspension of disbelief when the CGI is so horrible! I know it’s low budget and all, but if the low price CGI is no better than some CGI from the 1990s, it would be better off to come up with a different story that doesn’t require ILM quality CGI to make the story half believable.
Some of the best suspense movies were made on a low budget. The kind of movies that the directors knew had little money or was made before the advent of CGI animation. Movies like John Carpenter’s The Thing or his original Halloween. James Cameron had very little money to make the first Terminator and the only technology available for robots and stuff was the old Ray Harryhausen stop motion animation, so he kept those scenes to a minimum.
Spielberg realized early on that the mechanical shark didn’t work half the time and looked kind of clunky when it did, so he limited the amount of scenes using the shark and the movies better for it. I think that the floating barrels were scarier than the actual shark anyway. Let the audience’s mind cook up what’s hidden in shadows. Many times , the audience cooks up a much scarier creature than the animators could anyway.
This is when low budget film makers have ideas that are far beyond their budget. The kind of effects this movie required to be believable would have been on par with some of those over budget Disney films, and just like those films, the story is not good enough to warrant such a budget. Special effects alone can’t make a good movie, but they can enhance a well written story.
A really good and unique story can have weak effects and still be great, but this isn’t one of those movies. If you’re going to go with bad effects, you have to make them real bad, like that Birdemic, which made back ten times it’s budget because it was shot for about $10,000, but looked more like it was shot for about $1,000. It was so bad that it was funny, especially since the producer really thought that he made a masterpiece, not realizing that his movie was being laughed at, sort of like the movie The Room.
If you’re going to go bad, you have to go all in and make it look like a cartoon, but act like you think it’s great. This movie had a rehashed story we’ve all seen a thousand times, with nothing unique or no surprise twists. The effects aren’t the worst, like Birdemic quality animation, but they’re also far from WETA or ILM animation.
This is just middle of the road effects with a dumb story. If you don’t have money, then make something more along the lines of a Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity.

I’m playing devils advocate for Joaquin. The tranq bolts make sense for poaching this animal. Because they wouldn’t have taken the adult, they would’ve taken the obvious babies that were on the tree the whole movie. Poachers rarely go for the adults and instead for kids cause it’s easier to control a smaller version of the animal
