Just a slight observation. When the predator targets Dutch with the plasma caster it actually shoots his Rifle. You can see the rifle split in two as it falls from his hand. The stock falling back while the rest of it falls forward. This is because Dutch is the prize of the hunt. This is also why it basically used isolation tactics to pick off his team so it could have it's final confrontation with what it considered to be a true warior. So, no, the vest didn't add 25% to energy resistance 😅

I definitely get the drop your weapons thing as Dutch points out and for the characters it seems somewhat unreasonable to keep them. However, I don’t think Predator would have let them off the hook. He would have gone to fistfighting in an instant. In Annas case it’s her significant lower height and lack of weapons.
The Predator is hunting the mercs because they're worthy prey. It's not hunting Anna for the same reason it isn't killing random rabbits - there's no glory in killing what is essentially a civilian. I don't think it has anything to do with whether she's armed or not.
It would've probably worked for the woman and the wounded guy, since they weren't much of a threat and therefore sport. It's why Dutch kept his rifle and immediately started firing at the alien. To draw it away. He knew simply disarming wouldn't cut it at this point

I did the math on this once, years ago. Calculating the cost radius and the time, Dutch would have had to run, through a jungle, on uneven terrain, about 45 miles per hour to escape the blast radius in the time he had.
I love this gentleman's sense of humor, and had to immediately sub to this channel. His slick remarks had me giggling all the way thru, especially, when he said "Yoda Hovel" and he had to smear some more of his mud mask back on? I was laughing thinking "Dang, he really don't like Anna, because first he wanted them torture her for info but when they didn't do that, he suggested they narc her about 6-7 times?" This is my very first video on this channel so now I'm excited to see if he did the latest Predator installment with the 16 yr old girl and her dog kicking another Predator's ass?
Fun fact: Billy’s actor Sonny Landham is apparently actually insane and they had to keep a bodyguard near him constantly to stop him from randomly attacking members of the cast and crew.
The predator, official story : they are a proud hunter race that finds honor in hunting the most dangerous prey in the universe for sport the more dangerous they prey the more honor there is if the prey can’t fight back it is shameful to kill. Actual story : predators hunt technologically inferior species, stay invisible the whole time and strike when they-re in a position where the enemy can’t fight back… so honorable!
to be fair, a hunter is a hunter, not a pit fighter. Human big game hunters don't leap out of their tree blinds to square up with a big ass elk, they just snipe 'em
@@John_1-1_in_Japanese you’re right but going off the books they value close quarters engagement with dangerous prey like they aliens and value the fight aspect of the hunt (similar to how Spartans valued combat). Considering that it’s a bit jarring that they would mostly use sneak attack and use overwhelming force, it’s barely a challenge at that point.
24:00 I think the gimmick with the plasma canon thing is that it’s power decreases every time it’s fired and need time to rebuild a lethal charge. Each shot on the squad seems to do less damage than the last and this is especially apparent in this scene. If the shot that put a huge hole in Blanes chest had hit anyone in the head, it would have destroyed it. In the 2 kills here, it doesn’t even make an exit wound. The predator itself could also have potentially limited its power to make sure it left a trophy after and simply left it that way when firing on Dutch.
They have the ability to choose how strong it fires at. The plasma caster is considered the least honorable method to kill for a Yautja however and the most honorable being close in kills with weaponry like the wrist blades.
Me and my friends have had that joke scenario of " how to catch a predator " amongst us for years and they are all going to lose their minds when they see that there's a channel that's actually making it a reality haha, and doing well I have no doubt. Very excited!
It always set me off that the Predator tries to blow himself at the end. Predators are supposed to have a sense of honor and he has been beaten fair and square. Here, he is behaving like a child blasting the chess board because he is losing...
incorrect, the predators will blow themselves up as a way to prevent their enemies from using their tech and researching their bodies etc. the predators are honorable but not entirely stupid. also, the predator viewed dutch as worthy prey and an honorable warrior so he gave dutch time to escape the explosion. I understand your confusion though, I had the same thought when I was younger.

@@khorbinetter4419The Predator did that because it was mocking the way that Billy laughed, since it copied it from earlier in the movie. I always saw that laugh as a “You may have won, but I still killed all your friends,” kind of a moment. It could have easily triggered the bomb to go off instantly, but it decided to put it on a timer as a reward for Dutch being able to beat it.
Billy's plan was a gamble, but smarter than you'd think. If he came to the conclusion the monster was a sportsman of some kind, tossing the weapon and making a show of challenging it to a hand to hand fight might actually get it to oblige. Now you've negated his stealth and significant firepower advantage and maybe have a chance of killing it. Unfortunatly he(understandably) couldn't handle the massive slab of of alien muscle.
That fight was similar to the fight we see with Falconer and Honzo in Predators except Billy was introduced to the wrist blades almost immediately while Hanzo was able to fight the Falconer to a draw
Great video as always, one thing I would say though is that when the boar runs in them, none of the guys are laughing, it actually appears to be the predator taunting them with the recording of Billy laughing.
It was Billy laughing, he was just off screen when Poncho made his quip to Mac "You think you could get something bigger?" Poncho made a joke. Mac was embarressed and pissed. Dutch was concerned about the safety of his people. Dillion was worried about the guerillas. And Billy was laughing at Poncho's joke.

Mac showed signs of PTSD. Having this condition myself from my time in Iraq and Afghanistan I can say it can make you do some really stupid things. I unlike Mac however have been able to go to PTSD counseling up at the VA hospital for the past 4 years and I am just starting to get back to being normal the way I was before I joined the navy.
It wasn't another trap that got the Predator. It was the counterweight needed to activate the trap the Predator had sniffed out as it was walking around to get at Dutch. The trap was a rope snare in a tunnel that when activated would snag the Predator around the neck or torso and drag him upwards into the waiting downward pointed spikes, breaking its neck/back while impaling it on the spikes to make sure it was good and dead. The counterweight needed to be double or triple the Predator's weight to lift it off the ground the same way a similar counterweight had been used for the net trap. Dutch basically was reusing the net trap but adding spikes to make sure the Predator couldn't escape again. When the Predator circled around the trap to come at Dutch from behind, it didn't see the suspended counterweight which dropped on its head when Dutch, thinking fast, activated the original snare trap. It appears that both during the final battle and the earlier net trap, that while the Predator could see and avoid man-made triplines for mines and flares, it couldn't tell regular jungle vines from jungle vines used as ropes for swinging, triplines,or nets.
I keep trying to get my dad to watch this movie not only because he already seen the Alien vs Predator movie and Requiem, but also this movie starts off more like your typical war genre movie and my dad is a fan of war genre. In fact I even told him I wouldn’t be surprise he already seen it and forgotten about it because of the fact it started off like your typical war genre movie. But I can’t get him to watch it to confirm it.
I also try to get him to watch the Alien movies because if the Xenomorphs didn’t scare him off in AVP and AVP requiem he should be able to handle the Alien Franchise since there is nothing shown about the Xenomorphs in the AVP movies besides the Predator-alien hybrid that we haven’t seen in the original franchise
Only problem with the team just dropping their weapons was that the Predator had already marked them. It watched them slaughter the guerrilla encampment, so it knew they were warriors. It had an especially big boner for Dutch, who it saw as the Homecoming Queen for this little hunting venture. Once the team killed the guerrilla’s, they were going to be hunted no matter what they did, so I don’t think just dropping their weapons and running would’ve been a viable solution. It would’ve also been super embarrassing for this elite team of soldiers to get cut down by some scrubby guerrilla patrol who caught them running with no weapons.
The Predator also knew Anna was a restrained captive and not part of Dutch's team. It was watching her struggle and make escape attempts against Dillion. Even after Dutch freed her and she helped set up the defensive position, she was never armed or took part in shooting at the Predator. Dutch realized Anna had not been marked as "In the game" when she reached for a weapon,so he kicked it away to keep the Predator from reclassifing her as a hostile. The Predator should have just as easily caught up to and killed Anna after losing track of Dutch as it was able to overtake Dutch and Poncho after killing Billy. It let Anna make it to the extraction site,because it never saw her as quarry to begin with.
I’d also note that disarming yourself and refusing to fight is seen as giving up your life is punished by death. They just don’t take a trophy or have any reason for a quick/clean kill. To surrender is to die.

Fun fact not mentioned the black pilot seen at the end of Predator is also the same actor who was under the predator costume in this and predator 2 Kevin Peter Hall. The predator clicking and voice is the voice actor of Optimus Prime Peter Cullen.
I think once the predator see's how your skills are as a warrior. It will hunt you whether you are armed or not. Predators don't like hunting weaklings because of no sport.
In the lore They kill the dishonorable, if their crime is witnessed or there is evidence. weather they have weapons or not. They sometimes are okay with and will slaughter everyone in containment missions. Like in AVP requiem he killed some innocents if I remember right. Badblood predators kill everything.

In the Alien Versus Predator Arcade Game from 1994, Dutch is a playable character who is teamed up with the Predators fighting Xenomorphs. Basically in that Arcade game, they said, “F$$k It! Let’s team up against the space insects!”
On close inspection, the plasma does indeed hit the weapon and doesn't hit Dutch directly. Only half of his rifle is still in his hand as he's falling backwards. I imagine the actual injuries he sustained were from the weapon fragments and molten material spraying against his arm and torso like shrapnel.
How to beat the graboids in Tremors. Personally, I think the residents of Perfection Nevada did about as well as one could expect, but nerd strikes me as the kind of guy who thinks there's always room for improvement.

I keep trying to get my dad to watch this movie not only because he already seen the Alien vs Predator movie and Requiem, but also this movie starts off more like your typical war genre movie and my dad is a fan of war genre. In fact I even told him I wouldn’t be surprise he already seen it and forgotten about it because of the fact it started off like your typical war genre movie. But I can’t get him to watch it to confirm it.
I also try to get him to watch the Alien movies because if the Xenomorphs didn’t scare him off in AVP and AVP requiem he should be able to handle the Alien Franchise since there is nothing shown about the Xenomorphs in the AVP movies besides the Predator-alien hybrid that we haven’t seen in the original franchise

Only problem with the team just dropping their weapons was that the Predator had already marked them. It watched them slaughter the guerrilla encampment, so it knew they were warriors. It had an especially big boner for Dutch, who it saw as the Homecoming Queen for this little hunting venture. Once the team killed the guerrilla’s, they were going to be hunted no matter what they did, so I don’t think just dropping their weapons and running would’ve been a viable solution. It would’ve also been super embarrassing for this elite team of soldiers to get cut down by some scrubby guerrilla patrol who caught them running with no weapons.
The Predator also knew Anna was a restrained captive and not part of Dutch's team. It was watching her struggle and make escape attempts against Dillion.
Even after Dutch freed her and she helped set up the defensive position, she was never armed or took part in shooting at the Predator.
Dutch realized Anna had not been marked as "In the game" when she reached for a weapon,so he kicked it away to keep the Predator
from reclassifing her as a hostile. The Predator should have just as easily caught up to and killed Anna after losing track of Dutch as
it was able to overtake Dutch and Poncho after killing Billy.
It let Anna make it to the extraction site,because it never saw her as quarry to begin with.
I can tell you like this movie quite a bit, it is a classic 🤣

I’d also note that disarming yourself and refusing to fight is seen as giving up your life is punished by death. They just don’t take a trophy or have any reason for a quick/clean kill. To surrender is to die.

I think once the predator see's how your skills are as a warrior. It will hunt you whether you are armed or not. Predators don't like hunting weaklings because of no sport.
In the lore They kill the dishonorable, if their crime is witnessed or there is evidence. weather they have weapons or not.
They sometimes are okay with and will slaughter everyone in containment missions. Like in AVP requiem he killed some innocents if I remember right.

Ironically, the Predator isn't really a predator, since it doesn't eat it what it kills. Thus, the movie's original title, "Hunter" was more apt.

In the Alien Versus Predator Arcade Game from 1994, Dutch is a playable character who is teamed up with the Predators fighting Xenomorphs. Basically in that Arcade game, they said, “F$$k It! Let’s team up against the space insects!”

24:44 I was always confused by this scene, as it wasnt shot well but apparently the plasma went into the gun and was “dampened?”
On close inspection, the plasma does indeed hit the weapon and doesn't hit Dutch directly. Only half of his rifle is still in his hand as he's falling backwards. I imagine the actual injuries he sustained were from the weapon fragments and molten material spraying against his arm and torso like shrapnel.
Now you gotta do the rest of the series, except AVP Requiem and The Predator, I don't think anyone would be mad at u for skipping those
