You should find a version of this song from a concert in Argentina. The entire audience sings to the guitar riffs, which impressed the band the first time it happened. It's quite fun

If you check any of these other Megadeth songs out, PLEASE make sure it's the studio version. They're great live, but new shows aren't the same as older ones, and the studio recordings emphasize the precision you noticed in this version.
He won't do studio version of metal or rock songs it's annoying af but he just refuses to do them
Age has weakened them a bit, but having seen them live repeatedly during the 90's, I can say that at least older live versions would remain perfectly executed.

PaintitRed 84 it’s because youtube sucks and usually copyrights the studio versions but not live versions so he does lives all the time to be on the safe side but it ruins so many good songs

I ended up working at Dave Mustaine’s house over the weekend as he held a hang out with some high paying fans.
The band members helped teach this song to them on the guitar. Was very lucky to have the experience!
You need to go get the original version of the song. Dave Mustaine had some serious damage to his voice since the original release.

@@jasonhutcherson6224 That's an excellent suggestion, actually. Definitely in the same vein as "Symphony...", which was why I suggested "SB" because it shows a bit of the versatility of the band and still hits hard.

It's probably the most accessible and straightforward song off Countdown to Extinction, which I think is part of the reason it's such a general favourite in their discography. I'd say that album's packed full of good lyrics, they were clearly going for something with it. Architecture of Aggression would be my favourite from that album. You gotta have the studio version, the bass sound on it especially really growls and smacks, it's so lovely.
Sweating Bullets is my favorite off that album the back & forth is epic

One time in high school I was forced to make a presentation about Johann Sebastian Bach wherein I decided to play a small bit of my favorite symphony, and I used the intro to this song. Didn’t go over well outside of my metalhead friends

Pantera and Megadeth were around at the same time, but Pantera was in different musical direction than what they became known for, with another singer as well. Pantera reinvented themselves in 1990 with Cowboys From Hell - album.

@@antondzajajurca7797 Honestly, I didn't remember which one. Nevertheless, Pantera did their first album 1983 but the style was different. If you listen the early albums you will notice the elements there but the mould is yet to be found.

Megadeth came first Megadeth are considered a thrash metal band while pantera are considered grove metal, Dave Mustaine the singer and guitarist of Megadeth was actually one of the original members of Metallica but was kicked out of the band before Metallica released their first album and was replaced by kirk Hammett, there are several songs on Metallica's first album that give writing credit to Dave as a result

About politicians Dave has said, take a chimpanzee, give him a shower, a 💩, and a shave, put him and a suit and he could get elected. I can agree. Dave has read the Enlightenment philosophers. His lyrics very much for the thinking metal head who wants to change the world. This was released in 1991. Same year as Metallica's black album. Countdown to Destruction was #2 on the charts behind it. Gun metal grey and can peel the paint off the walls.
In 2012 they did an entire playthrough beginning to end of the album for the 20th Anniversary of its release. There was a VH1 Behind the music Episode about Megadeth released at this time. The opening line was "Prepare to take a journey into the molten core of speed metal!" Very epic movie guy VO.
Dave's story of battling his demons and making music a journey in its own right. Right now he has battled cancer after having taken every drug known to mankind and having died in hospital from an Overdose, before being brought back!! Yes that happened. Currently on tour of Europe. Starting in Finland. Summer 2022. You could fill several Autoboigraphies with his life story and the bands. I'll end with the term Megadeth first coined when describing the Casualty rates for a nuclear war between The USA and The USSR. It refers to the number of Mega deaths in such a conflict. Yes Mega as in prefix of millions. minus the 2nd E you get the name.

And yes, history repeats itself .. mostly when people either don‘t learn from their mistakes or forget what they learned.
Bought this CD when it came out in the summer of '92 after getting done with college. Saw them perform it in its entirety at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach in 2012 on their 20th anniversary tour of Countdown to Extinction. Made me feel old. But it was a fantastic show! Love seeing them live! CTE and Rust in Peace are my two favorite releases by them but I enjoy the vast majority of what they've put out.
The studio version is so much better. You gotta atleast react to the lyric video
Great song! Please check the energy of their first two studio albums. Seriously amazing. Dave Mustaine is very talented and Megadeth is his baby. He has evolved from an angry young man to a man who has mad his peace. Megadeth is worthy to explore as a whole topic.
They're SO good live. Really holds up to the album version.

New subscriber here. I love what you are doing . It is very cool to see my fave bands being introduced to a new generation . Its just really interesting to see a new generations take on it. i dont know what the scene is in the USA, if old school really gets airplay anymore, . In South Africa , we have amazing artists and a very ecclectic flavour of music, but music radio has pretty much died here. thank you for what you do, its very interesting.

I have heard you mention a few times that you do check out the studio versions after doing your reactions, have you ever considered adding a segment during editing after you have heard the originals saying which you preferred and differences that you noticed etc... Just a thought being that so many live versions are so different than the Studio Cuts and so many people keep asking you to listen to the studio versions, figured this might satisfy us and offer you a slightly different angle for your productions...

This is one of their best albums,great job on the breakdown…the lead guitarist/lead singer(yes,he does both) was the lead guitarist in Metallica when they first started back in the day
That's how I feel about the lyrics on the song: "In Comes the Flood" by Machine Head. If those lyrics don't ring a familiar vibe and get you riled up... you have nothing to complain about.
The difference between Pantera & Megadeth ( there are many, but for this post lets keep it to the big ones) :
Vocalists : Pantera has a legendary one, Dave from Megadeth is barely tolerable, but he does write fantastic lyrics .
Musicianship : while Dime from Pantrera is an all-time great guitarist/musician, so is Dave & anyone who's ever played in Megadeth. Megadeth is one of the most technically proficient bands ever to exist.
Popularity & reputation: Both bands were/are very popular & are legendary in their own right, but Pantera had about a 10yr run & Megadeth have been doing it now for over 40 years. Megadeth also was there at the beginning of thrash metal (1 of The Big 4 , if you will) and Pantera was almost a decade after. Unfortunately for Pantera, they have 2 BIG issues in their past that have harmed their reputation: Racism. right of wrong , there is plenty of smoke on that topic. Feuds. They wasted their time in-fighting instead of making music. Megadeth has had a LOT of member changes due to Dave's own issues, but they have delivered through it all.
When you have a conversation about metal, these are 2 of the biggest bands ever to lay it down, but very, very different bands.

The Argentina version is absolutely amazing
I can hear where you would get a Pantera vibe in the main riff. When it gets to the chorus though, it deviates pretty significantly. With Dave Mustane being a former Metallica guitarist, that gives some idea of the branch of the metal family tree they are more closely related to. I've never really cared for Mustane's vocals. Always sounded a little corny to me, but holy hell the solo in this song is so damn good (album version where it's played note perfect). This was the first Megadeth song I ever heard. Summer of '95 I believe. Hanging out at Whataburger with the other delinquents waiting for summer school to start.
Megadeth was dimebags favorite band
Megadeath came out after Metallica. Jason Newstead was the lead singer. He was at one point with Metallica and got kicked out by James Hetfield due to drugs and other personal issues that he had with the band. It was a if you join this band I was your full commitment this band comes first. He said okay I'm out I will start my own group. Hence you got Megadeath. So yes they sound very much like a mix of Pantera and Metallica.
Mustaine is known to be a perfectionist about rehearsing. He has the band (and himself obviously) practice until they consistently can do live exactly what they did in the studio. I've seen them live several times, and they are amazing.
If you're looking for more of their stuff, I can recommend a few tracks that show their stylistic range.
Peace Sells (But Who's Buying?) - Early piece, outstanding.
Holy Wars (The Punishment Due) - Legendary track, two songs merged into one. A masterpiece.
Victory - A song that is a bit of a joke, but at the same time very serious. The lyrics are made of song titles, but it's all about Mustaine overcoming addiction.
Trust - A song that got more radio play due to movie soundtrack use.
Promises - A *ballad* (which is a shocker coming from them).
Next one has to be Tornado of Souls or Lucretia. And PLEASE do the studio versions.

Dave mustain (megadeth front man) was in Metallica originally. But honestly the way you separate megadeth and pantera is thrash and groove metal respectively.
Dave mustaine wrote Metallica’s first album kill ‘em all and was the original guitarist for them.

You know the man knows music when he said Megadeth was "precise". I play music, especially guitar. You can play similar bands much earlier in your learning. Typically you'll start with Black Sabbath, to Metallica... then 20 years later, you can scratch the talent and variations that Megadeth has in their arsenal. Some songs they have created are literately the pinnacle of guitar for difficulty. And here is the thing, I'm not really a Megadeth fan. They are stellar musicians.
Should have checked out the live in Argentina one.

Check out "Polaris" off of Hanger 18. Really anything off that album, it's their best. I'd look for live shows prior to 2000 or studio versions though. Vocals have deteriorated.

Dave Mustaine the lead singer / lead guitarist was too wild for Metallica back when they were teenagers in the 80s . Their bassist cliff Gordon died did in a buss accident . And James Herfield lead singer didn’t want the competition with Dave mustaine . Love your channel . Keep on killing it !!

Cliff burton, not Gordon. And they were all over 18 when they met.
Not the best recording but still good. Because of how long the band has been together it’s best to stick to studio version which is fully engineered. Not the remaster garbage but original studio versions

You need to find the actual music video!!! This version sounds like the “guitar hero “ one. The original has much more clarity to it. And the voice isn’t as deep and raspy!!!
He started out in Metallica and wrote a large percentage of their songs while with them.

The singer Dave Mustang was the lead guitarist for Metallica in the 80's and was thrown out because he would physically fight with anyone at a drop of a hat. He was so mad he started this band. He and Metallica are ok now.
Man Megadeth is amazing but you are out of control comparing Megadeth to PanterA... Both real good bands but completely different....
