      Since you learned how to do it.

    There should be a Dome Override button on the dash that turns them all off. But, most LEDs are unidirectional (one way) which means you need to turn it on to make sure you have it in correctly.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely. As seen in the video, I did it with the power on. The long way is to turn off the power, install bulbs, turn power back on and test. If some do not work, disconnect power and flip bulbs. But I don't have time for that lol. But at the same time, some people doing this may be novices, and I would like to ensure they do it in a way that would protect their systems and fuses, hence the mention of disconnecting the battery. But if you are up to it, then go for it...nothing wrong with that!

    There is a button next to the headlights switch that you push to stop all of the dome lights from coming on. No need to pull the fuse.

    That’s the drivers side , not passenger side where the fuse box is

      Haha oops. I never even noticed I misspoke until now, 2 yrs later. Thanks for pointing it out. Such a weird mistake to make lol.

    Great video! I have an 08 trailblazer and just switched to LEDs. I do have an issue though...the lights only light up all the way when I open the doors or switch on the cab lights. When I turn on a light individually by pressing it, the bulb only lights up half way. Any reason this might be happening? They are the Sylvania LED 194 bulbs.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I have seen in other cars, that certain LEDs do not deal with dimming lights well, so I suspect that is the issue. Although the Sylvania LEDs are normally very good (and not cheap, either).
      I also decided to do some research and it turns out that the map lights have 2 power lines...an orange power wire and a grey power wire. The door courtesy light is grey, I think, and the orange is just map light, and the map has a much lower voltage. If you are handy, theoretically, you should be able to jump the grey and orange wires and get full voltage. This is just an observation, and I have not tested it myself, so I cannot confirm it 100%. Read some people on forums did it with success, so take that as it is. Hope that helps a bit

    Is that a sub power wire connected to the fuse box?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, but if you are installing a sub and amp, DO NOT wire there. Go straight to the battery. You can run the risk of damaging the BCM or popping the main fuse if you run from there.

    How can you change the bulbs in the overhead console switches on a 2005 GMC Envoy XUV.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I'm not sure. XUVs are rare around here, and I have never worked on one. And with GM making some small changes between brands and years on these cars, if its not like how it is in this video, I couldn't say for sure. Sorry.

  • @ZestasLife

    Thank you for the video. My lights aren’t working. I checked the fuse it’s fine but my dome lights just not working I even took the bulbs out to see if they were blown but they look fine so what do you think it could be?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem at all. Did this problem come up with the install of LED lights, or just with standard bulbs? Do the bulbs work when you open the door or manually turn them on? Or not at all?

    • @ZestasLife
      @ZestasLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It came with standard bulbs and they’re not coming on at all.

    • @ZestasLife
      @ZestasLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They work when you open the door but it’s not doing nothing which is weird but the lights were flickering before they went out.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ZestasLife What about the other lights in the car? The dash lights, headlights, etc? Are all those working ok? Or flickering/off as well?

    • @ZestasLife
      @ZestasLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every other light is working very well it’s just those some lights that aren’t working. @Nexus Auto

    How much did it cost for all these bulbs

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prices can vary. Amazon has the bulbs as little as around $20 for a set of 10, or you can spend $20 for 2. It all depends on quality and brand

    I bounced thru it, so the question I may have missed: do the LEDs dim? (Are they dimmable?)

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem at all. Some LEDs are dimmable, and some are not. So when buying, make sure it has this distinction. The ones in this Trailblazer do dim.

    On bulb sylvania led 194, there is a red dot. Said red dot needs to be pointed toward the front of the vehicle for the front dome light...you’re welcome

  • @jaimedominguez9460

    So I keep blowing fuses with the leds I added, could you possible have a solution ?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Something is definitely crossed over and shorting, it would seem. Could be an LED bulb, could be something wiring wise. Considering this only happened since the LEDs went in, leads me to believe it is one of them shorting.
      If you are handy with a multimeter, the best bet is to test the bulbs and see if one is not working.
      If not, and if you have the patience, the best bet is to remove all the bulbs and reinstall them all one by one. As you install one, turn on the lights and see if you blow a fuse. If not, turn off the lights and install one more bulb. Repeat. Once you blow a fuse, you know either that bulb or the socket is the problem. It is a bit of a DIY sorta fix, but it would work if you cannot work with a multimeter/voltmeter.

      Or anything that can only be something to help it.

    Red dot located on 194 for the middle console, on both sides, needs to be pointed toward the outside of the vehicle

    A plastic flat-blade spudge is a better idea. Amazon sells trim tool kits.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. I have lots of trim tools...have to as a tech. But I tried to make videos with more basic tools to help people minimize investment while getting the work done. The more advanced DIYer can buy the kits, but the method in this video works just as well. FYI, for those who want one, I had a link in the description.

    Tried what ur video said and now my lights no longer work

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you have the battery still hooked up? It is possible a connection crossed and a fuse was popped. I would say to check the fuse. Also, I know this may seem obvious, but did you put the bulbs in correctly? 194 leds are polar sensitive, so if you put them in one way, they don't work. And if you rotate them 180 degrees, they do. Just want to be sure that was accounted for.
