The second song 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole was reworked by his daughter Natalie Cole after her father's death. She performs a virtual duet with her dad. It won 3 grammy awards.
That was the big surprise hit of 1991 here in the States. Natalie Cole had a pretty successful solo career in her own right in the 70s and 80s, definitely worth a look or listen. More r&b based in sound.
The fact that James thought he would not have recognized the songs from the 50s & 60s at all is crazy. Music is stillllll so loved & so inspiring even from those decades that it's still played & listened to over & over.
Good music transcends generations!!! You guys knew a lot more than you thought you would. Keep doing music videos. There’s a lot of great music going back decades!!
I think these need to be my new Playlist, LOL. I can't believe I knew all of them! I was pleasantly surprised you both knew as many of the "oldies" as you did. Great video!
Interesting story about The Monkees. It started as a comedy TV show in America about 4 young guys, like The Beatles, who are a music group trying to make it big. Each episode was highlighted by one of their songs being played while chase scenes and shenanigans pertaining to the plot ensued. They are credited by many to have created the music video even though videos didn't become popular until the early 80's.
I didn’t recognize anything after 2019 cause when then crap hit the fan in 2020 I bought a record player and started listening to all of my albums that I been collecting since the 70’s, but before that I knew everyone, I loved that you named the movies you remembered the songs from, no watching Titanic for me either. This was so much fun 🤩 I thoroughly enjoyed watching, thank you!!!
That's true. Was actually a big hit in not one, not two but three decades. 60s- Little Eva( who was Carole King's kids babysitter) 70s Grand Funk Railroad 80s Kylie Minogue.
How so? She pretty much set the stage for the female singer-songwriter especially during the 60’s . She helped write timeless songs for other artists and also proved to be a more than capable singer in her own right. Name a woman who has been a singer or songwriter over the past 50 years or so, and they will give credit to Carole for being the groundbreaker.
Idk how old you are but I remember seeing it in theaters and the intermission and my mom covering my eyes for the nude seen but I looked over her hand haha. And the double vhs box that you needed to watch rewind then put in the next tape. I dont even really like the movie but the fucking NOSTALGIA!!
Yeah. "Satisfaction" was scandalous in its time--some radio stations wouldn't even play it. That's a sign of great music. But in a way they topped that with the "Sticky Fingers" album cover showing a close-up of the front of an occupied pair of jeans that had an actual zipper you could could zip up and down: Possibly the greatest album cover of all time.
Well i didnt hear right its not the 50's is thru the decades...and i LOVE this! I know them all as ive bought records ,8 tracks, cassettes to these all thru my decades of existence ...except 50's too young then 😁👍☮️
I retired from the job I had to commute to in my car in 1993 so I stopped listening to AM radio then (could walk to my new job). Don't recognize much popular music since.
Its awesome that you guys recognized so many songs on the video. I always enjoy your music and pro wrestling reactions. You guys seem like pretty cool people i wouldn't mind hanging out with.
2:25 Those two ladies at the front in that video look like they're legitimately wearing big diapers. 3:56 If I remember correctly, Paul had a dream about his mother saying to him, "Just let it be" after her death and this song eventually came about. He felt at peace after that.
As I clicked on the thumbnail, I was thinking to myself how many of these do I know. I was right on track until 2016, which really surprised me, as I haven't listened to any pop music since I don't remember when.
You’ve definitely gotta see Titanic. No question. James Cameron did a great job at making it historically accurate with respect to what was known about the sinking at the time.
IMHO the first "Titanic" movie, starring Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck, was the best. Made in 1953, it obviously didn't have today's special effects nor did it have a huge budget like Cameron did (not "low budget" though with those 2 who were big stars in their day), but it was the better for not being so soapy and syrupy.
@@BTinSF I honestly give the whole love story a pass simply because Cameron said it was the catalyst that enabled him to take the audience on a journey to places on Titanic that he never would’ve been able to show if he didn’t do that. But yes, the 1953 Titanic movie was really good in its own right.
@@BTinSF no, that’s definitely not the first one, there’s been a bunch before, starting with one made right after by a survivor and in it she wore what she wore in the lifeboat. Sadly it burnt down in a studio fire in the 30s… but it’s on my Vimeo and youtube. Jk about that part but it’s sadly gone forever due to that fire
@@Cassxowary "Right after?" 1912? I don't think they had "talkies" in 1912. But OK. My point really was that although the latest "Titanic" movie is impressive for its special effects and display of modern movie-making technology, I don't think it's the most enjoyable for those with a serious interest in the event. It's not my favorite anyway.
I think ya'll are underestimating Bruno Mars popularity WORLDWIDE. He is globally popular, much more so than many of the other modern artists on this list.
Hullo, young'uns! **Loved** Millie's very animated, split-second reactions to each song!! And when she mentioned the CPR class where you should use the rhythm of "Stayin' Alive", I remembered back to when I took a CPR class in 1984; the instructor mentioned that if you didn't know it, use Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust"!! (the 1980 song)-- 😳 Keep on keepin' on, and as always, Blessed Be, & Peace! 🙏☮
Omg yess please , please do a Titanic movie reaction. It's literally my favorite movie and it's definitely bound to make you guys cry. It's very fitting being that you guys are from UK.
They literally play "As It Was" at the Wawa gas station all the time and I hate it, I swear they have it on loop. They play it so much that I associate the song with with getting gas. ⛽
This made me appreciate all music even the modern ones that people like to hate on. You’ll probably catch me dancing to some Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.
If you haven't already done it, I'd love for you guys to do the 60s one. And I want to hear you thoughts. That (and 70s to an extent) was when the 2nd British Invasion hit the US! A bunch of music from your guys' side of the pond hit massively in the US. The Beatles, The Who, Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Monkees (Davy Jones was British), and a bunch more.
Knew all but 7. Made it til the thru the 90’s w/just 3. 2000-current just because artist isn’t my type of music. Knew all but 2 of the “oldies” that was fun

Millie is killing it in this video with her reactions
It’s like watching a slow death of talent and then around the late 90’s it speeds up
That was a great reaction! I'm really impressed you both knew so many of those songs. And yes, we're all waiting for your reaction to "Titanic"!
That's such a fun video, and I love your reactions to it. You knew so many of those songs!

Millie goes full on when she knows one. You two are making my day much funner.
Yes do the 1960’s
You guy need to do every popular song in the 50's and 60's like yall did in for the 70s and 80s.
A couple of movies that very funny to watch....Animal House with song Shout..and Top Secret with Tutti Frutti..
That was a lot of fun hearing and seeing your reactions. Thanks.

YES 60'S !!!!!!!☮️
OMG I'm so old I knew all the songs till they got to the 2000's.......great video
In 2014 I drove from Kansas City to Los Angeles. It took us about two days, and uptown funk was played at least 3,000 times the way there.

I feel like everyone has heard those songs even if most maybe dont know they are so old
I loved this video! You guys were so much fun to watch.
Yes would love to see a Titanic reaction.
Great reaction, definitely listen to the 60s.
Yes do the 60s and 50s. Also i agree with the aging thing. Mick Jagger was a grown adult when i was born but somehow he looks younger than me now.

here in Europe we learn to do cpr on the Bee Gees Stayin Alive to, we learn to sing it softly so we held the rhythm.
Best reaction video ever!
Neil Diamond also wrote I'm A Believer for the Monkees.

Kylie Minogue
did a remake of The Locomotion that was big in the UK in 1987 .

I’m with James, I don’t think these songs are truly the most popular- like it would be interesting to see in each genre what was most popular.
