My entire teenage years and the first few years of my twenties just flashed before my eyes. Or ears. It's really incredible the way that five second clips of songs from 30 years ago can just put you right back where you were then, if only for a fleeting instant. Whether it's hanging out at a friend's house, playing computer games alone, getting dressed for sports, working at my first job - almost every one of these songs transports me back to a particular long-gone moment in time, and makes me feel exactly what I felt then.

I think I can forgive y'all for not being aware of 1997's version of Candle in the Wind. Elton's original version was an 80s song dedicated to Marelyn Monroe, the 90s version was dedicated to Princess Di because she died around that time and it was sung at her funeral. Since y'all weren't born yet, it's fine. But yeah it was rare back then to see footage from another country (outside of the Olympics and huge world wide sporting events), but this was one of them and her funeral aired in the US too.
90s were my teen years and in fact I graduated HS in 2000. So yeah I knew all of these songs lol. Fun fact- when One Sweet Day first aired on the radio, I actually said, "Song of the Decade there" not known just how much on the nose I was because it would hold the #1 spot for 16 weeks for 23 years.
Is anyone besides me sadden that it took until 99 to see Cher (if you saw the 80s video). Like she's one of those few artists to have #1 hits in multiple decades.

As someone who was an older kid and teenager during the 90s it was an incredible decade for music. So much diversity and the Golden Age of Hip Hop.

You guys need to check out the 70s and 80s. There used to even be a 60s one too. You'll be on the floor with how long some people have been around..

Six songs I didn't recognize...mostly Boys II Men. This is when my daughter was growing up and she looooooved listening to the radio. I played professionally when younger and quit just before I got married in 85, so I wasn't so in tune with the music scene after that. I still prefer the 1960's and 1970's over the 80's, 90's, and 2000's.

When you realize that the 80's and 90s were nothing but good music, movies, tv and an even better time to have lived.

Tears from heaven by Eric Clapton- you have to listen to the song, is about when his young son fell out an open window.

I'm always suprised how many Brits don't know Candle in the Wind. While Elton John didn't create it, he played it in tribute to Princess Dianna. I can't recall if it was at her remembernce on BBC or not. Thats where i remember it from. He was devasted by her death. As many of us were. I think I was a teen when she died.
To be fair I also realize many Brits don't care much fo the royals anymore. I never really did myself. I only cared about Princess Diana because of her humanitarian work and big heart.
