This is heart breaking. Now I understand why many PS4 and XBox One owners who leaped into the game with so much excitement, felt utterly burned and lied to. I absolutely adore Cyberpunk 2077 but I never had the experience when it first launched. I just remember hearing some commotion over it's broken state. But never imagined it'd look this bad. I don't know how I'd feel about it today if I too had jumped on this game at launch. I only started playing the game back in March 2024 and thought it was phenomenal and more true to the game play demo from years back. Thanks for sharing this Toohey!
That was the way Cyberpunk was released in 2020 pretty much deliberately and despite the obvious problems the game still sold huge multi millions because most buyers talked like they had the greatest game ever even though we can clearly see that although it seems pretty, it is massively lacking... especially if you just finished playing the old GTA3 on Sony PS2 and know how A.I. behavior and physics and animation, etc in that game worked and then eventually you would notice that Cyberpunk is very much extremely shallow. I would recommend that you purchase at least a Netac 2TB SSD for your Xbox One because iirc those can be picked up for $100 on sale so the only issue is Microsoft does not allow people to open their Xbox Ones so you have to learn how to disassemble it and take the opportunity to apply higher quality thermal paste on the APU. That way the SSD should massively cut down on loading delays even on the retail game disc release of Cyberpunk (although of course you benefit more with other games loading up much faster meaning less time wasted waiting plus 2TB pretty much kills the lack of storage on the stock 500GB drive) since again, you have the Xbox One and play it again unpatched to notice the difference before patching because the patch is supposed to fix a lot of the A.I. that was missing in the game before CD-Projekt ditched the Xbone and PS4 owners even though this game was officially announced as a Xbone and PS4 game way back.
To be fair, this wasn't the intended version being played on day one. There was a day one update the second you installed the game with an internet connection. Still, I'll just never understand why the CD Projekt board thought it was okay to release it when the game clearly needed another solid year of production with the full staff working on it.
I have both an Xbox One X and Series X, but not an og One. I would love to see how it runs on the Xbox one after the updates. However, I do plan to buy the disc version to test it myself, for sure. Can't wait to see.
