Thanks for the video! Would this be suitable for internal installation on a solid brick wall house too?
    Thanks

Hi. We do supply IWI for brick houses and although the procedure is similar, there are some differences. You can see the standard wood fibre with lime plastered finish here - www.backtoearth.co.uk/guide/internal-wall-insulation-on-masonry-how-to-install-wood-fibre-insulation-2/ and you can see our NatureWall IWI system with a plasterboard finish here - www.backtoearth.co.uk/guide/internal-wall-insulation-with-plasterboard-finish/

@BacktoEarthLTD thank you! For the plasterboard finish method. What would happen if I just applied the wood fibre boards and membrane, and then plasterboard straight on top of that? Other than being a bit less insulated?
      Thanks

Hi Chris, thanks for all the videos, they are very clear and informative. In this buildup would you add flexible insulation in between the battens as well? The wall build-up I am considering is Exterior (Garden wall) 102mm Brick - 50mm air cavity - Breathable paper membrane - 9mm OSB3 - 140mm Timber studs filled with steico flex 036 - Airtight / vapour control membrane - 40mm Rigid wood fibre board - Render - Interior. To achieve U= 0.19 or so. My question is, does the render replace the airtightness membrane? Thanks!

Hi Grecia. So long as the 50mm cavity is externally ventilated, top and bottom, that construction sounds fine although I suspect you'd need a 60mm board internally to get to a U-value of 0.19 W/m2K. Hope that helps but if you have any other questions please come back to me at chris@backtoearth.co.uk.

What is the purpose of the polystyrene plinth please?

Hi Alastair. The polystyrene is there to insulate the plinth that the building sits on, so as to reduce heat loss from the floor/wall junction as well as the heatless from the plinth down into the ground. Hope that helps.
