    Very good. Thank you. Love the trick or treating animals and the looong freights and the General. Looking good. Lots of scary stuff in the background

    Really enjoyed the "orange and black" and especially the variety of trains in that color scheme. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks. I even surprised myself how much I had that was black and shades of orange.

    Thank you for the presentation. The NH MU commuter cars are fantastic. Did they come as a four car set? I also like the Halloween General. And is that the original 1960 engine? Because I noticed that the Wells Fargo Sheriff and Outlaw car is in the consist.

      I recently acquired the MU's, they were 2 in a box, unsure if additional cars were offered. They were made in 2000. Yes original 1960 1882 General loco and tender. The 2 freights are from an add-on offered by the LCCA club for their recreation of the Halloween set about 20 years ago. The SP coach / baggage cars are also modern era Lionel. I was keeping with and orange and black theme,

      The orange coaches are a fantastic seasonal match for the Halloween General. Thanks for the info on the MU's. Is the 1960 Halloween General a three-position E-Unit with Magne traction? I have the LCCA set and add-ons. The engine could be better for me -it needs more power, and it's lightweight. Pulling the tender, horse car, and two coaches is OK. And two of the three add-ons are OK. But the third add-on, with a minor grade, the engine strains, and the wheels slip to get traction. -it's like the little engine that could. Do you have the complete 1960 Halloween General? If so, can we see them run in a future video? Take care, thanks, and I'm looking forward to future videos.🙂@@JFLionelT-RailOperator

      Thanks for watching. My complete 1960 Halloween General is shown in the video, link attached. Also it is shown in my first Halloween video, about 3 years ago and in others if you search my channel. All the Generals were light-weight, designed to pull only a few cars. Several of my videos show my solution for that. I had a # 1862 with a broken cow catcher. When I repaired it, I added a front coupler, so I can double-head Generals for more power. Also, the 1882 has the 2 position E-unit, no magne traction. Only the 5 Star 1872 has these features.

    Enjoyed your Halloween series very much. What do you use for the sound effects ?

    • @JFLionelT-RailOperator
      @JFLionelT-RailOperator  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some sounds are in the tenders and cars, some are pre-recorded inserted into the sound track.

    Fantastic Halloween series! I read in Classic Toy Trains magazine that your layout will be featured in an upcoming issue. Any idea when that will be?

      The CTT article was done and submitted at least 2 years ago. The editor keeps telling me it is coming, but I have heard no definite date. I am hoping to see it soon, thanks for asking. Do you remember where you saw that it is coming?

      @@JFLionelT-RailOperator I am a big fan of 1990s and 2000s Lionel and MTH because I watched them on I love toy trains and a Lionel instruction VHS tape that came with some of my family’s lower end stuff we bought from Lionel. The stuff we bought was 90s and 2000s stuff but it was very simple having only whistle sounds (we didn’t have diesels) and they didn’t even have bell sounds. I’m not sure how different they were from postwar items since I have never seen them in person before but I don’t think they were quite that different. We never had any kind of accessories though so the experience was pretty simple. I’m going to make sure when I can afford to start a layout that I will have both diesels, streamlined steam engines (I always wanted some but those were WAY too expensive for us to afford) and accessories.

      Good to have a plan. I think most of us pursue the things that we had as kids and also the things that we did NOT have as a kid. This concept usually shapes our collections and layouts. I had postwar in my youth, first train was a Lionel Milwaukee Rd 2338 diesel freight set, reason why I have several 2338's today. Everything in Lionel was electro-mechanical, nothing digital or solid-state through 1969 and also well into the MPC / Fundimensions era. I prefer old-tech, because I am comfortable with its operation on conventional transformers and can always fix things when needed. Digital trains I can NOT fix. Early in my collecting history I discovered Prewar trains and immediately fell hard for them. Most of my collection is retro, before my time. It was great discovering trains that I had never seen, and prewar has a charm that can't be beat. Some call them just toys, but many are built like a Swiss watch. @@lucasquintanilla1673

      @@JFLionelT-RailOperator yeah, I think I could relate because we had to control our train sets conventionally though the transformers were modern for the time. The whistle songs weren’t even the sound effects expected in most Lionel sense today they were basically the postwar and MPC era internal whistle sound effect that clearly sounded mechanical. I think that the really modern stuff is a great leap from even what I previously had almost 20 years ago.

    • @JFLionelT-RailOperator
      @JFLionelT-RailOperator  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Modern sound systems are clearly superior when they work. I have not had good luck with the really modern stuff with my conventional power. Sound systems up to year 2000 are as modern as I need to go. @@lucasquintanilla1673
