JF's Lionel T-Rail O Gauge Trains
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ก.ค. 2014
The Lake Shore Railway, is a 500 sf layout of Lionel O gauge (072) wide-radius solid T-rail track. There are 4 T-Rail main lines, including one upper level line and an 8 track Yard/engine facility. T-rail was made for a short period by Lionel from 1935 to 1942. It has solid steel rails on diecast ties and is bolted together with fish-plates and nuts/bolts, like real track.
Our mission is to operate as many trains, by as many manufacturers, covering early prewar to postwar with occasional modern era trains. Many of our videos have a theme or a story to tell.
The layout is complete in some areas, but other areas remain flexible, to be redecorated with accessories, figures and landscape to help tell a particular story, or seasonally.
We also feature WestieWorld fun pet videos.
We have many ideas in our "pipeline", so SUBSCRIBE TODAY, to be notified as new videos are published.

You can have coffee and a show
Yes they are quite entertaining.
Awesome locomotive
Thanks for watching. The Hiawatha is a favorite of mine.
Very nice!
Thanks for watching, some great trains were made that year.
How come you don't have squirrels?
Our squirrels bother the feeders in the summer but not in the winter.
My Robins were singing like it was spring. During the snow storm 😊
No robins here in the winter.
I am 82 years old, and I love to feed my birds and squirrels when it is snowing or sleeting as it is doing at this very moment in Raleigh in Raleigh, NC. Actually I feed them year round, but they (and I) appreciate it more in inclement WX. I also feed a pair of raccoons and foxes each night. They are my only family.
Good to hear of your fond relationship with the birds and wild animals. We try to do our part to sustain them, sounds like you do too. Thanks for watching. Check out other videos on my channel to see the humming birds that we feed throughout the summer.
Install a hangar under the porche roof or build a bird house with two exits and away from cats, ( hanging)
We have had no problems with predators. We feed the humming birds at this same location in the summer and attract hundreds of them.
Your bird videos are VERY nice!!!!!
Thanks for watching.
Me likem!
Thanks, an elementary concept to us seasoned Ferroequinologists, but not so clear to the general public. I thought that it merited explanation.
Good job saving that beautiful locomotive
Thanks, it was satisfying being able to give it new life. Who knows how many years it sat neglected?
Love these old timers! You have an awesome layout by the way! Thanks for sharing with us all! Best of luck to you!
Thanks for watching and for your kind comments.
Well done Jim! Well done indeed!
Thanks for watching. It was good to rescue this old classic.
Marx guy here, enjoyable display, it always is. A while back, I saw a Marx C/V covered with a Hiawatha Rap.
Thanks for watching. I do have a prototype Hiawatha Marx loco. We were not able to get it into production. I have run it in at least 1 video.
Marx guy here, nice Rehabilitaion on that old girl. I always thought Hiawatha needed a female companion by the name of Minnie Ha Ha.
I did have an American Flyer Mini Ha Ha, but her and the Lionel 250E had a "spat", she left him and has not returned.
Excellent repair of a classic locomotive, and return to service. 😎👍💯
Thanks, in spite of its cosmetic condition, the 250E deserved to be operational again. Besides, Hiawathas are my favorite loco.
Well done. Nice to see the repairs worked out.
Thanks, first time I had removed and replaced these large drivers and it went better than I expected.
Smooth !
Thanks for watching, yes it does run quiet and smooth.
Gorgeous trains, and I luv ❤️ the coffin nose Cord, and the 57 Ford Fairlane 500.
Thanks, I like to move the accessories, cars and figures around to set the scene for a video.
I love it.
Hi Chuck. how you be?
Thanks for watching.
Funny enough I picked up one in similar shape with the entire passenger outfit as well. The connecter to the tender on the 782 car is broken, the paint overall is chipping worse than yours, and sadly the whistling tender doesn't work however the motor is free and spins. Scored the set for about 300 bucks. Can't wait to get the engine rolling again. Is it worth it to restore these trains when the paint is badly chipped on the engine and cars? or is there a paint sealant or something that can stop chipping that a train dealer can do? Anywho, that will hopefully be a project for the future. Love your videos😁
I think that a proud train like the Hiawatha is worth restoring, no matter what condition.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator My thoughts too! If the origin@l finish is @ mess in my opinion there's nothing wrong with @ tot@l refurb. The collector v@lue's shot @nyw@y so it's no sin.
That is one of the nicest looking locomotives Lionel put out.
Yes the 250E and set is one of my all time favorites.
Very good running vintage trains. I enjoy seeing your collection running. _Steve
Thanks Steve, always good to hear from you.
did lionel really paint those cars that color?
Not sure which set you are asking about, but yes, everything shown in this video is factory original.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator thank you the cars look pink on my screen
@@Gregtrainmaster The cars on the 289E train are red and on the 1689E train they are orange and gray.
Never seen one of these. Its a good runner.
The 289E was made for economy, for competitive pricing of O gauge sets for department stores. It has a motor similar to the cataloged O gauge Commodore Vanderbilt, the 265E and 264E, but has a lighter-weight 1689E boiler/cab casting. The 289E runs well with lightweight consists of cars. It does not have the same tractive effort as the heavier 265E and 264E Vanderbilts.
Some classic old-timers! You know, I think the gunmetal Commodore looks the best. Thanks for posting and Happy New Year Jim!
Thanks for watching. I agree and think that almost any loco looks best in gunmetal. Lionel should have made a 226E in gunmetal!
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator Now THAT would have been interesting!
Very cool! I have always liked the Commodore Vanderbilt design of the 289E, I have one in gunmetal that's in decent shape. Thanks for the video, and happy new year!
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year. Listings for 289E's are sketchy. The gunmetal 289E is shown and listed in the TCA Standard of the World book as made 1937. The listings for special sets, however, only show black 289E's in the consist, made 1936 and 1937. The sets listed include the one I show in this video plus one with 1701, 1702, 1703 fluted aluminum streamline cars and another set with 4 wheel freight cars, 804, 831 and 807. All 3 state that the loco is black. Perhaps the gunmetal 289E was a separate sale only loco???
Beautiful set.
Thanks Jack. This is an unusual uncataloged Department Store Special set made in the mid 1930's. The tender has a whistle and I will feature that in a longer video. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year to you and yours Jim!
Thanks and Happy New Year to you too.
Very awesome thanks for sharing and happy new year!
Thanks, and Happy Hew Year.
Perfect
Thanks for watching.
Beautiful. Happy New Year
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.
The old stuff is just so cool 😎
Thanks for watching. I enjoy running old technology.
The 289e at the time was considered O scale right? It used the same items from the 265e right?
Think of a 289 as a 1689 with an O gauge motor.
@@johnblair8146Well then, that does answer my question. That does sound awesome!
@@CornyVR. I have both the 289 and the1689.
Yes the 289E was an O gauge loco, not 027. It used an 027 1689E boiler/cab with an O gauge motor, similar to what would be in a 265E. It was not cataloged, was made exclusively for uncataloged sets, also can be found in gunmetal.
Very cool vintage piece Jim. Made a video of the Spike’s Railhead train store.
Thanks for watching.
Nice Jim. Is that whistle sign Ives?
Not sure, but I don't think it is Ives. I have other signs, signals and telephone poles with the same coiled wire base.
Nice running session Jim. Did you and Debbie have a good Christmas?
Thanks for watching. Yes we did, hope you did too.
do you know where you can find t rail?🤠
I have seen it recently on Ebay and in public train auctions such as Stout auctions.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator ok, I'm on the the hunt for just one or two pieces for a example. thanks for the info!🤠
Like the Toonerville Trolley Jim. Still got the Marx Chicago L train featured in TM’s Christmas videos?
Yes I still have at least 1 CTA set. It is not set-up with the trestles, but I run it on my upper level, have shown it in some videos.
Awesome Jim. Have you heard about Tom McComas’s passing?
Yes, sad Tom was a great influence on our hobby.
Did Classic Toy Trains ever get around to publishing your layout? I let my subscription lapse, but I'd pick up the back issue if so. Merry Christmas and thank you, as always, for your great videos.
No they have not, thanks for asking. They have only had it since October 2021 and there have been considerable changes to the layout since then.
Still got that layout that was featured in Toy Trains and Christmas 1 Jim?
I am not sure what layout that was as it has been a while since I have seen the TM videos that I was featured in. I would have to say no, because the only layout I have now is the one featured in Lake Shore Railway videos, and this layout was conceived in 2019.
Jim, I enjoyed the great Christmas time scenes and the four wheel trolley is awesome. Merry Christmas, _Steve
Thanks for watching, Steve. I acquired the Toonerville already modified. It was originally a wind-up and a previous owner had wedged a small standard gauge motor into it. I was able to replace this motor with a Marx single-axel drive motor as would be found in late-production tin Alco diesels or the green/white freight M-10005 power car. Merry Christmas.
I rode across the USA (on train) in 63 and 71 and 77 and finally in 92. I remember in 1992 seeing all the boxcars without graffiti (for the most part) and the Eastern Seaboard and amazing manufacturing. These refrigerated bozxcars and egg nog remind me of th goodness of the USA and manufacturing. You could almost feel the manufactering (going over to China) at that time. It was like the dying of some great thing. (Hard to explain)
I think you explained it very well. Losing our production capacity, becoming a debtor nation and losing our energy independence was like this country was dying. At least now there is some hope that these problems can be reversed. We are already seeing a glimmer of hope. From the late 70's to early 90's I worked in Downtown Chicago. It was disgusting to see all the graffiti on cars in the yards and on buildings. Graffiti is out of control and in some areas has been raised to an art form. Thanks for your comments and Merry Christmas / Happy New Year.
Amazing and unique video. Should have forty thousand likes. The T-rail? The mood of the film and the music A+. Not easy to make such a fine video.
Thanks again for your comments. T-Rail is a solid rail track system that Lionel made from 1935 to the early 40's in conjunction with their introduction of scale model (3-rail) trains, a NYC Hudson, PRR B-6 switcher and 4 freight cars. I have several videos explaining T-Rail. Unfortunately T-Rail did not survive WWII. 40K likes? Yes I agree, but views/exposure is controlled by some secret formula depending on perceived popularity of the subject matter and other criteria.
Incredible light show! Where is that, it's wonderful!
Final scene Petticoat Junction Christmas episode.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator Really? I'd never have guessed! Thanks!
@@wayneantoniazzi2706 Yep
Cool i just watched that episode on utube 🎄
I saw it on MeTV. Impressive but wonder why it was in Black and White.
Music sounds like SynthSaga...👍😀
Thanks for watching.
Wow another holiday video great work Jim Merry Christmas

How cool
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!
