JF's Lionel T-Rail O Gauge Trains
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ก.ค. 2014
The Lake Shore Railway, is a 500 sf layout of Lionel O gauge (072) wide-radius solid T-rail track. There are 4 T-Rail main lines, including one upper level line and an 8 track Yard/engine facility. T-rail was made for a short period by Lionel from 1935 to 1942. It has solid steel rails on diecast ties and is bolted together with fish-plates and nuts/bolts, like real track.
Our mission is to operate as many trains, by as many manufacturers, covering early prewar to postwar with occasional modern era trains. Many of our videos have a theme or a story to tell.
The layout is complete in some areas, but other areas remain flexible, to be redecorated with accessories, figures and landscape to help tell a particular story, or seasonally.
We also feature WestieWorld fun pet videos.

Absolutely superb. White rum and nutmeg wit the egg nog I hope! Love the abominable snowman, and I hope that red van/ bus gets out of the snow drift. It must be quite a chore cleaning up all of the plastic snow.
Well no wonder I can't find any decent condition Pre-War tinplate reefers Jim, YOU'VE got 'em all! Oh, mannnnnn... Serously though those are some beautiful old trains! I have to ask, what what the music used for the opening and ending sequences? It sounds VERY familiar, old movie familiar, but I just can't place it. Anyway, thanks for posting that wonderful video!
Very nice! I like all of the pre-war Lionel, whether original or reissue. I really enjoy a great, toy train set-up, especially with pre-war trains. It is just how they are supposed to be run. I run post-war, with the exception of my 1931 Winner set and a couple of small buildings and light fixtures. Either way, this is what the holidays are all about, in the Lionel World. An excellent video, as always.
WOW - a triple headed prewar Lionel O gauge train in the beginning. Me thinks the engines are 226E’s. Lots of double headed. Great O gauge run Jim. Love egg nog. Thanks for the nice video Jim. Have a merry Christmas. Another great video as always.
Awesome video! I appreciate seeing the classics in action. Great looking winter layout too.
Thanks John, appreciate your support. The snow area resulted from unfortunate leak from the washing machine overhead. The area had to be cleared and timing gave me the opportunity to temporarily "winterize" this area. In a few months the vacuum will remove the snow and the area will be reconfigured again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Beautiful trains. Beautiful layout. Excellent video production. Keep them coming!
Thanks for watching.
Very nice Jim as always. Impressive.
Thanks for watching Jack and Happy Christmas.
Thank you again for another great video! Awesome trains: The AF Burlington Zephyr shined, though it flew like lightning in a blur. The Lionel All-Chrome Flying Yankee was nice and shiny. The Great Northern Famous American Railroad Series Steamer, with it's Sound-of-Steam audio should encourage me to find some of my older sound stuff by Lionel. (So archaic compared to the Lionel sounds of today!) I'll have 6-months to look... Merry, Merry Christmas!
Thanks for watching. A lot went into this one.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator OH, I forgot to add that I hope the American Flyer Boxcab electric did not suffer as it bounced over the T-Rail Switch. Take care, Tom
Merry Christmas. I like to run all my passenger sets at Christmas too!
Thanks for watching. It is a magical time of the year for trains.
Awesome train run! Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas! 🎄
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas.
Wonderful as usual! Is that Flying Yankee a reissue or original?
The chrome Lionel Flying Yankee is an original mid-1930's set that I added a few extra cars to and added a chrome top on the power car. The original diecast top was black. Thanks for watching.
This was so enjoyable to watch! Thank you for putting this together. Merry Christmas! 🎄💯🚂❤
Thanks, glad you liked it.
The first sign of Christmas? Christmas tree stands springing up? Snow on the ground? Christmas music on the radio after Thanksgiving? NO! It's the Lake Shore all lit up and glittery with Christmas trains zipping on though! Thanks Jim! You've REALLY started the season for us!
It has been a struggle this year, but I was able to get Halloween and Christmas videos published. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.
@@JFLionelT-RailOperator Thanks for what you do Jim, and I hope your struggles abate with the new year!
always look forward to your video’s Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Well done Jim Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas to you too.
Mesmerizing!! Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas!
Thanks, I did cram a lot into this one, glad you liked it and Merry Christmas.
Hoo, Hoo, Hoo, where did the Snow go?
This was the day before it snowed on select areas of the layout. Thanks for watching.
Excellent and professionally done video! You know your 200th episode will be coming up soon
Thanks for watching. 200th will be after the first of the year, not quite as fast as I was in the past. Its been a rough year, but hopes for a much better year in 2025.
@ what sort of special thing do you think you will do for number 200?
Great display and trains.
Thanks for watching.
I love it. So much to look at.
Thanks, I did cram a lot into the area I redecorated for the winter holidays.
Snow, Hoo, Hoo, Merry Christmas. The Flying Yankee is a beautiful train, is it one of your creations? I saw Her at a Maine museum in the 80s, and She was in very poor shape. Ring it Out Santa! , but go easy on that main spring and that bottle of Ripoll.
Thanks for watching. The chrome Lionel Flying Yankee is mostly original. I added a few extra cars and had a chrome roof that I swapped with the black one that was on the power car to make the train "all chrome". I should have dusted it though. The camera sees better than these old eyes.
I know very little about Marx but i must say some of that stuff was beautiful. In particular the set headed up by the engine with a searchlight on the tender. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. Marx made a huge variety or prewar and postwar trains, not to mention the modern production made from 1991 to 2004.
aren't those streamliners great runners? smooth, sleek, shiny and stable and not overly expensive sets when new, my favorite. my uncle had a flying yankee set he bought new and the price on the outer box was $12.50, in today's money about 300 bucks, not a cheap toy but it's still running!
Thanks, the Flying Yankee and other Lionel and AF streamliners are favorites of mine. The Lionel Yankee got going too fast in one scene before I slowed it down. No problem holding the rails.
Thanks to you for making this very entertaining and enjoyable video. So very professionally done. Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year to ALL.
Thanks for watching and Happy Christmas / Merry New Year to you too!
So great! I don't have trains set up this year, but this video really helps!
Glad that you said that. One of my goals when I started producing videos was to give inspiration to others to do the same, or at least entertain until they can. Merry Christmas.
Ok, I was going to ask about the MPC steamers lack of sound, but I guess you fixed it. The windup bell ringing Santa, 40s, 50s, or 60s? Made in Japan? Very well made cuz it still works!
Yes I unplugged the SOS for the lower level running of the 3100. The wind-up Santa has been part of our Christmases since the 1980's and he continues to ring his bell year after year. My guess is that he was a 1950's dime store or Sears catalog item, made in Japan.
Merry Christmas ! The Chrome Flying Yankee is a real treat to see ! Thanks !
Thanks for watching, it is a favorite of mine.
Cool stuff 😎
Thanks for watching.
Beautiful JIm.
Thanks, its a fun little set, all litho except silver painted pilot, made 1935 or 36.
Very nice
Thanks for watching.
I have the earliest cast version of this and have been working on it, intermittently, for over a year now. I reproduced the missing sheet metal cab components, and replaced the problematic direction switch, but the motor still refuses to run. I think the problem is an open field coil ground, which means I will be cracking open the motor housing. Thanks for posting. Your fantastic layout continues to inspire.
I have the cast aluminum version that a previous owner polished to a mirror finish and installed a Lionel Flying Yankee motor. Only problem is that the slide shoes on that motor squeel on the center rail. Thanks for watching.
What film is it?
It was a cartoon shown on the Tom and Jerry show, Saturday AM cartoons. I don't know the name of this Christmas episode.
Mighty Sound of Steam on the Lake Shore? Will wonders never cease! MPC invades the Land Of Pre-War! Cool! I've got a MSoS locomotive but I had to pull the unit, the first power-up on the layout was "The Mighty Sound of SCREAM!" Damn near gave me a heart attack! : O
I do occasionally operate Lionel 1970's and even later, mainly for the sound. However this loco I like for its looks, not the SOS. I almost left it unplugged, but the SOS does help to "fill the air". Sounds like something went hay-wire on your SOS circuit board.
A wonderful old classic! Thanks Jim!
Thanks for watching.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing! 🤠
Thanks for watching. This was on Saturday morning cartoons, and too cute not to capture it.
@JFLionelT-RailOperator glad you did! 🤠
Keep our feathered friends fed.
We try, year round. Funny how they peck at the windows like they want something different on the menu.
Looks like a very modern Steamer Jim. Didn’t know you were into modern stuff. Looks good. Impressive.
The GN steamer is from a 1970's set, probably in the Golden Spike series. Good looking loco, not crazy about the sound system.
How did you do these.
This was on a Saturday morning cartoon show. I just backed it up and shot this right off of the TV. Thanks for watching, always good to hear from you.
That is the coolest old school train ever
Lionel didn't start making O-gauge until 1915, so this train from 1917 or 1918 is some of their earliest production. Thanks for watching. I run O gauge electrics and wind-ups from 1915 to the early 2000's on the Lake Shore Railway.
@ you have a awesome collection I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now good stuff
I have a 1930-1932 era Lionel standard gauge “bild-a-loco” that was my grandfathers. He got it when he was 7. I have all the pieces and would love some help assembling and learning more about it.
You may be able to find a copy of the assembly instructions on line. Original parts all have a number on them to aid in assembly. The original diecast wheels may give you a problem as they are often damaged by metal fatigue, cracks and swelling.
Love it! Lots of red on that T-rail track.
Thanks for watching
I remember that steam locomotive! That is a MPC era great Northern steam locomotive from Lionel!
Thanks for watching. The sound system is primitive, but it is a good looker!
Ahhh, The Mighty Sound of Static. Nice job, you, too MPC!
Yes SOS left something to be desired, but it was a stepping stone to better systems. Thanks for watching.
I guess I'm lucky to be in coastal Connecticut! We had a rainy Thanksgiving. But it was a much needed blessing.
Our snow was nothing like the lake-effect that hit Buffalo, Erie and other cities, but it was significant in being our first of the season.
Very amazing army train set from 1917 and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. The 203 loco and cars have been on my list a long time, finally found.
Really cool
Thanks for watching.
@ no problem anytime 👍🏻
This thing must be extremely rare! I have seen one or two reproductions on the Internet, and I know that MTH sort of made a remake of this in Desert colors based off of operation desert storm, but I have not seen an original before on TH-cam. Did you have this for its one hundredth anniversary in 2017? Or did you get it more recently?
It is somewhat scarce, and is a very recent acquisition. Thanks for watching. It was made 1917 to 1921, but this is an early one 1917 or 1918 as it has a "Manufacturing" motor.
So cool 😎
Thanks for watching.
What a TREASURE 😊
Thanks for watching, took many years to find these pieces.
Very nice old army train!
Thanks for watching.
