This is another Great video From 539 productions! Thank you Very much MATT! I really love Mausoleum videos especially.I would not chose one to be buried in though. BECAUSE after a couple of generations and no one left in the family can remember them or even ever met them its been so long ago that the majority of descents either do NOT have the funds available to repair , to restore ,or pay for much needed maintance. If they even would care too. These mausoleums ended up getting torn down and the deceased in them end up cremated anyway. There is no such thing has true perpetual care or mauntance& care forever for these mausoleums. Though when they were originally bought , paid for, and used the whole plan was supposed to be that they would always be cared for forever. But actually that is just a grift at the time to get them to buy into this way of burial. There used to be the most beautiful and many here at Forrest Hill cemetary in Shelbyville,Indiana. They were built there and the road they were on in the cemetary was called Mausoleum road. Because they were on both sides of it and were beautiful little marble mansions with stained glass windows , bronze doors and trim and there were many .But now they have all been torn down there were probably 2 dozen or more at one time expect for maybe 4 now left STANDING on 1 side of the road/ lane and they are crumbling away & soon to be torn down as well.I think all of them should have been declared has historic places & saved .They were works of art.But those in charge decided that life is for the living and so is the money and instead tore most of them down & I am sure sold off all the stained glass windows, bronze accoutrements , used marble &such to a recycling place. Its really a shame& is scandolous ....IMHO.T hat they were allowed to do such a thing. BECAUSE now they are almost all gone &that beautiful artwork is also gone!My favorite one had their Little Jack Russel terrier dog taxidermied and had him standing guard at the foot of his master's& mistresse ' s crypt inside the mausoleum. YOU could look through the beveled glass in the front doors see the dog still guarding them and waiting for them to wake up to be reunited with him.We nicknamed him "LITTLE STIFFY" and would look forward when ever we were there to seeing & visiting him.But he and most of the other mausoleums are just gone.Only some of the marble steps are left on the hillside now.😢😬I miss them they were so very beautiful . BUT I especially miss seeing "Little Stiffy" ! I have not an idea what happened to him.Sure hope he wasn't just thrown in the trash when they tore that mausoleum down about a decade+ago.😢😬😟😒" POOR LITTLE STIFFY he honored his master & Mistress by guarding them for at least a century maybe more! He deserved much better then ending up discarded in the TRASH.IMHO!
I like to picture Little🐶 Stiffy happy and in the loving arms of the family members he🐕 guarded for so many years. Little Stiffy has a nice warm & cozy spot inbettween his loved ones on their bed in a beautiful home in heaven and gets to sleep with a nice night light on. Little 🐶Stiffy is finally 🏠home. 💖 🤘👻 💖
Those mausoleums are very impressive. The door on the last one looks like a piece of art deco work but I noticed the dates inside from the 60's and 70's. Beautiful. I would guess the glass was always clear because when you look through you see the sculpture. Amazing video. Looking forward to the rest of this amazing cemetery. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
Beautiful stones in this cemetery, the tomb with the chair I was hearing so he could watch over his businesses interesting, awesome find love it thank you 😊
Matt, born and raised in Toledo. Still here as a matter of fact. Unfortunately, the area around the cemetery is sketchy any more. Be careful. As a side, used to be peacocks living in there, but some of the creeps got ahold of them.😪
Once again, you made our day. Glad to hear from you even though the weather was not so great. Miss you when the weather keeps you in. Loved this one. Those mausoleums were quite interesting.
The mausoleum with the figure of the lady on the door was so beautiful but sorrowful; have never seen that design before. This is going to be an interesting series. Well done, Matt. Will look forward to the next one.
Hi Matt, really enjoyed the episode. What an amazing cemetery,it has so much to offer to visitors. The mausoleums so beautiful in detail. The artwork is great, high standard & quality materials.Stained glass ( always great to see):Higgins (1.38) art deco style, Foss (10.17)looks very beautiful , Stranahan ( 13.45) art deco style.Doors with nice patina, beautiful ornaments.Outstanding is the door from the Stranahan mausoleum: great artwork, craftmanship, beautiful patina.Guess is the best door i've seen in all of your videos Matt.Very big cemetery, they even have a bike path on it ( opened nov.2019).This is a place you have to visit several times a year.In combination with arboretum a place to enjoy nature ( 100 species of trees, 200 varieties of birds ).Great place to visit as photographer, nature lover, architecture, etc.Read in article that there are 42 private family mausoleums on the grounds of the cemetery.Looking forward for episode # 2 to see more mausoleums. Most interesting website : historic-woodlawn.com ( including map of the cemetery ).Also "" the chair "" monument is very interesting, beautiful in detail ( Ludwig, 2.00).If it was on the ground you would be tempted to sit in it..... .High quality as always, great editing & fitting music Matt !!.This roadtrip shows how much Ohio has to offer, great & amazing finds along the way in combination with a diversity in landscape.Did you take photos on the cemetery ?.Love the new ones from indianapolis.
I may add that many mausoleums have a Gotham look. That goes much with the Art Deco glass work. Like the style working up to that seen in the Empire State building. Interest fusion of classic and modernist. The door construction is a stylistic hint too.
I want a crying angel...I always thought those where so classy. the Spitzer palace must have a cleaning lady come in, very clean, I like the double handles on the front slabs...
Thanks Matt for another great video about Elaborate Mausoleums in Toledo Ohio / woodlawn cemetery explore it was a very interesting video and thanks for sharing with me my friend and i cann't wait to see your next video and God Bless and thanks again.
I really enjoyed the gothic atmosphere of the music in the backgrounfd as well.It was a great choice.Matt is really going a GREAT JOB on here .The videos are really getting much better and much more enjoyable with each new one HE releases! Watched a video of Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit at Woodward and south of eight mile 150 mausoleums the most in the U.S. Many famous people Dodge Brothers and some Motown Stars etc. Just Saying Peace!!!
The lady as part of the door caused an immense sadness in my chest. Normally, I am pretty neutral seeing cemeteries. Would love to know the story of the lady guarding the door. Thank you.
That lady figure in the door is an extremely awesome work of art and I have never seen one like that before.Sure hope it is never vandalized it would be a huge loss.It is very striking and took my breathe away when I first saw it as well.Maybe it should be in a museum where it could be kept safely and for all to view and keep it protected far into the future. The natural verigris /patina weathered finish is very nice I wonder it it is bronze or copper , maybe Brass? It must surely be priceless, which means someone might try to take it if not better secured there. It must be worth alot & one of a kind .It could even be by a well known artistisan from the time period.I really liked that mausoleum it is spectacularly beautiful and I agree it is very emotionally moving as well!Sure hope it does NOT get destroyed somehow, or damaged, or torn down in the future like what is happening in many cemeteries now. They are just getting them condemned and removed and cremating those interred. Then the beautiful structures are gone & they are lost forever.😢
Dawn Kurtz I felt the same way; in fact I watched it several times. My beloved husband died almost 15 years ago, and if he was buried in a mausoleum, that figure would be me each time I visited.
You might be watched. This is one area. Toledo to bolinggreen to van Buren ohio and further. the stones have been robbed of there brass/ bronze decals. I've seen many military placks taken. Yes... the name plates removed. I felt so sad . A man worked so long and still not at peace. A famly frend in the van Buren area sat and cried. For days. Just for a few bucks of brass. We all hope it was worth it there are special places for grave molesters thank you for Toledo video.
"The Empty Chair" was a popular symbol of bereavement, particularly of a family member. It appears frequently in late Victorian art.

Once again, you made our day. Glad to hear from you even though the weather was not so great. Miss you when the weather keeps you in. Loved this one. Those mausoleums were quite interesting.

Cemetery's are such interesting repository's of history and art.
After watching that, starting to develop a case of mausoleum envy.
This Cemetery is soooooooo beautiful, can't wait to see the other parts you are doing at this Cemetery,...Thank you Matt!

There is a titanic survivor buried there and a Civil War part in there. there is a pyramid there as well.

LOVED the iron work on that Synder/Spitzer Mausoleum. This cemetery was HUGE!!
Thanks for watching, Kuulei! Quite the interesting location!
Interesting place. I love cemeteries. They're all unique.

Matt I was just at this cemetery today. It is a nice one. I looked at some of the same things you did.
I live in Sylvania Ohio that was good that you posted this.
The money they spend on those works of art. The door was incredible. Thank you for taking us along.
Ingenious how the decorative rocks were made into columbaria. :)
Wow that was just fantastic. Loved seeing them. Thanks so much for taking me along
I notice much of stain glass is art deco,
Neat how cemetery's arent as old as u move farther west from the east coast..
Incredible insight. I wonder why ?
Haa yea, people slowly exploring new territories from their east coast beginnings..

@@539Productions next time in Toledo would love to explore with you.
there is a cemetery in md called woodlawn cemetery and looks really similar to this cemetery, has a over running through it
Stranahans are the Champion spark plug family, most of the areas early "high society" are in Woodlawn.
Lived about 30 miles south of Toledo. Had frends that are there. Tks for look.
A very picturesque place, with the bridge and statues, wildlife and narrow roadway. All around awesome video! Can't wait for the next one. ✌
539 Productions, These videos are great, thank you for sharing!
Love the shot of the ornamental iron silhouette through the window.
Rocks are in shape of Ohio.

@@MK-ti2oo yes it is or maybe one of the relatives.
More mausoleums and less tree's, brush, bridges etc.. thanks.
very good production.
good job
Welcome to Toledo!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am from Toledo I know ALL of the cemetaries there. I started Toledo ghost Detectives years ago.
I love these Cemetery series,Matt thank you BTW your car sounds funny or was the audio from the camera getting buzzed from the engine?☮❤
A very nice pretty vid. MATT* I liked it. Becky Z. Thanks
Thank you for sharing. This area was more scary because of the broken bridge and beaten road.👍
It would've been even scarier yet if you'd seen the ghetto surrounding the area lol
Thank you❤️💋
Thank you Great video💜🤗
love it matt
The river is haunted by a little girl who drowned in there on Halloween. At night you can hear her screams of help.
do you ever hear anything when you look in one?
Beautiful funerary architecture! A lot of German names - immigrants. It would be interesting to know a little about who these people were.
Can you please find my aunts grave.. her name is Eva Austin died in 1964... she was in a masoleum... the one that is falling apart. thank you.

Do ever do research on the owner of the mausoleums?
A good power washing is in order.
I have an ancestor buried there.
Would like to have seen more grave yard less bridge and trees ..🤔
Exactly
Unfortunate there are so many poorly maintained cemeteries.
Was just there, found a victim of the Titanic and his family.
