Man just hearing this music, with the cutscene where the Lumas sacrifice themselves makes me cry. Mario's shocked expression just makes it sad. What makes the scene more sadder is when he even tries to reach out for the Lumas.
Super Mario Galaxy is an emotional roller coaster. Beautiful and iconic soundtracks, cute characters along the way, and even a tear jerking book of Rosalina’s backstory. That is what made Mario Galaxy so popular and I’ll never stop crying 😭
The lumas sacrificed themselves to save Mario😢 he reached out but one WAVED GOODBYE which makes it ever more painful to watch and I literally cried. Best Mario Game Ever
This whole moment was really good. As they all sacrifice themselves, the Luma theme is playing, but there's that orchestrated addition that just perfects the lullaby-esque song.
Someone finally put it into words, I’ll never forget the first time I played this and saw the ending, this game was beautiful and never lost its magic after all these years.
Every hundred years, a comet appears in the skies above the Mushroom Kingdom. That comet was so large one year, it filled the skies and sent countless shooting stars raining down. The toads brought the shooting stars to the castle, where they became a great power star. It should have been a very happy time for the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. That was the night of the Star Festival, held once every hundred years to celebrate the comet.

Nothing is wrong with you. You are just using your human emotions. A companion of yours who was with you your whole adventure is sacrificing their life to save you. Mario reaches out but has to watch as his Luma Companion goes. That’s the emotional impact Super Mario Galaxy has! 🥲🥲🥲🥲
It took me 10 feaking years to understand what was happening in this scene. Oddly enough, despite the context, I felt happier whenever I looked back on it.
I miss my Wii, had all the bangers like Mario Kart Wii, Smash Brawl, Galaxy 1+2, Lets go to the city, Boom Blox etc. :( Sadly my younger brother cant find it.

I absolutely freaking love mario galaxy, last year i got a second hand wii that rotted in a closet from one of my family members. I didnt get mario galaxy with it, but i did buy it later on, and oh my goodness was it an experience. The music, the worlds, absolutely everything was spectacular about it. I ever so badly wish to experience it all over again. Thank you Nintendo for bringing us an experience we will never forget.
A wish is a deep and powerful thing. Most of the time, it doesn't come true for some people, but sometimes a miracle could be born. But when one wishes, sometimes they don't think of the x and y to get to z. So, do be more thoughtful about your wishes, and maybe it just might happen because of it.
My wish is to be with my friend and get to hug him after we were separated by Coronavirus. (I'm crying right now just desperately hoping and praying it comes true.)
I might cry at a few Mario spinoffs, at key moments in the RPGs especially the first time or two, but this is a mainline Mario game that just outright makes me cry on command at this scene. Growing up, I was not prepared in any capacity seeing the equivelent of... "These children die in sacrifice, Mario's universe is destroyed and Mario dies before experiencing the miracle of a rebirth and the reincarnation of his universe in exchange for the children." Every last bit of it up to the end of the credits roll just makes me bawl as much as I did when I was 7 or so. I'm 25 now and SMG's ending still rips me asunder.
