    I like what you did with wave signal combo. Black oxide + OG comes pretty nice. I don’t have black oxide wave though but I do have 2 surge 1 standard and 1 is black oxide. Thanks got the idea and will be learning how to swap the tools. Black and Silver does look better than plain ones.

    Not sure why within the last 11 months when I look up leatherman mods this hasn't came up? But I appreciate the info you have provided and I'm about to start tinkering (fuck around, really) like you have. Thanks man, subbing.

      Seriously this video answered a lot of questions
      The wave/signal combo, genius
      Swapped the signal blade with a wave wave blade but to have multitool and pocket knife, again genius!

    Thanks for showing my mods! You may also like the ones from Metro's Q-Branch on Shapeways. He has a hammer for the Skeletool which is pretty cool.

      no problem! thanks for all the help you gave me. i did address that one in the video, i was thinking about it but wasn't sure if i really needed it. I did show his 3D printed bit holders for the signal though

      I was hoping to get the hammer mod for the skeletool from Metro's Q-Branch but it is a pit on the pricey side not to mention the hardware kit to complete the mod is sold on a seperate site and require a seperate $11 shipping. And also requires a mut v-cutter from leatherman to complete the mod. Putting the total price of the mod to be almost the same as 2 used skeletools. The absurd thing is, I'm still considering going for the mod even though I'm already broke 😂. Life's too short to not enjoy these sort of things

    Haha I hadn't realised these were collectable.
    I had the original (I think) leather man that I had engraved my name on it on an old pantograph machine and the small screwbit attachment that was sold separately in nice leather holsters. Sadly lost that and about another couple hundred pounds worth of good tools from a bad bike rucksack bag. So anyone in Scotland with my leather man get in touch lol. I have the wave and that's been about it for me. Nice collection my man 👍

    Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the video and the mods that you did. I have a few myself as I was trying to find the best tool for my EDC. If anything, your video is encouraging me to sell most of them. I am going to stick to the Wave + for tougher tasks, and then have a Skeletool CX and older Juice S2 for pocket carry. I’ve been debating on getting the “Stammer” from Shapeways for my Skeletool but it’s going to be $80 Canadian. Just not sure if it’s worth it. It’s great because it doesn’t affect the warranty but I don’t know how often I would use the hammer feature. If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.

    • @EDCObsession
      @EDCObsession  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was looking at that too but I ended up selling my skeletool but I don't think I would have ended up buying the stammer, the usefulness doesn't justify the cost imo

    I'm 2 years late to the party. Was wondering, do you know off hand what blade will replace the combo blade from any other Leatherman tool? I want a signal but I want a straight blade or all serrated blade. And replace the saw with scissors. Great video

    • @EDCObsession
      @EDCObsession  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      for a signal the blade is proprietary to that model i think but you may be able to get a 3d printed utility blade holder

    The custom parts are excellent and MaxLvLEDC & MeZilllch have fantastic ideas.
    I don't wish to be rude, but you've made quite a lot of modifications just for the sake of it. Rather than the function you've gone for novelty, like nothing is allowed to be factory.
    This isn't a side of the EDC community I'm familiar with.
    All my mods are functional so I'm struggling to understand the "mods for mods sake".
    Your collection seems to be like Gold plating a Tread. Do you even EDC carry one & use these tools ?

    So the scalpel holder what meterial is that. Is that metal or some kind of plastic like pla or petg ( it was 3d printed right?)

    • @EDCObsession
      @EDCObsession  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      all of the 3d printed parts are metal, according to zapwizard: "The part is made by bonding stainless steel powder in layers. The part is then sintered and impregnated with bronze to fully meld the two metals together (60% SS, 40% Bronze). "

    I think you can spend a lot of time chasing that "perfect" multi-tool for your needs. And more power to you for your skill in modifying your multi-tools to meet those needs. But look at what you've got there--you have a case to carry a dozen or so multi-tool options. Isn't the point of a multi-tool convenience, that you have a multitude of tools at your disposal in a small portable format? And that's less of an observation about the need to modify EVERYTHING, but a truth about multi-tools and EDC in general that I've come to--there is no such thing as a singular, universal multi-tool or EDC option that will serve 100% or your needs or wants in 100% of circumstances. Every multi-tool, even a modded multi-tool, is a compromise; every tool, and every mod, represents something that WASN'T incorporated. I am not saying that to be critical, because every mod that you have made has made each of those tools more useful for a purpose. But you didn't end up with a single tool, you ended up with a selection of tools. That multi-tool that will do 100% of what you might ever call upon it to do, modded or not, is a unicorn, due to the limitations of the form and function of the mult-tool itself; you will never have a multi-tool that will replace what you can carry in a toolbox. And that's fine. I think some people just need to be more realistic about what a multi-tool is, and what its role is. Once you are carrying an entire toolbox of accessories for your multi-tool, why are you even bothering with the multi-tool?

    • @EDCObsession
      @EDCObsession  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I understand every multitool is inherently a compromise, and usually if I need to use the actual tool for the job I will, but I mostly have this many cause I am a collector and into having a lot of them and variations of all. I know it is not utilitarian, I am just interested in them. Realistically i would probably be fine with just one or two, and a whole bunch of dedicated tools, but I just have this many of anything because I like to, simple as that.
