Never had a problem with mine. Ask for a supervisor if they try to take it away. TSA allows scissors up to 4 freaking inches long in carry on bags. www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/scissors
@@agunemon I could not find a blade length limit in the TSA website. Just that "Any sharp objects in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors." I have flown with Leatherman multitools, Swiss army knives and 3.5" folding pocket knives in my checked bags. I have never been questioned nor had my bags searched.
@@vic06 Cool thanks, I have 2 multitools 1leatherman-like(forgot the brand) and another one small hammer multitool with a 5inch saw and 4inch knife and other stuff. I daily carry both and are both pretty sentimental so I plan to bring them when I move.
I usually lose my leatherman every other year like clockwork, generally I always bought the wave, the last one was a surge, I like it for the better scissors, but hate that you have to decide between loading the saw or the file
I have worked over 30 years fighting wildfires. On one I used my old Leatherman to file my Polaski. Later it was lost on the fire line so I planned to lo look for it hiking out the hand line. A dozer reinforced the line & thought it was gone forever. Next morning hiking to fire a crew boss said he found a Leatherman. I was near and said it was mine (My name engraved). I got it back!!!
AD Army- It was the middle of February in Upstate NY during a 2 week field training exercise and I was a mechanic supporting field artillery. After waiting out blizzard conditions, had a humvee shear through its rear half shaft bolts and had to drop said half shaft so it wouldn’t damage anything else. My contact truck didn’t come with any needle nose pliers needed to remove the safety clip on the brake cable that blocked the shaft from dropping, so I had to rely on my Supertool 300 while laying in 3AM mud, snow, and rain. Leatherman saved the day of course🔧🧰🔩
I went to Academy to buy a new pair of work boots, and luckily I went look at the knife section first and found a Skeletool with a $30 tag on it and hurried to go check out. By the time I got home with it I completely forgot to get my boots
Ive carried an all black Leatherman supertool 300 for almost a decade now. Its an absolute tank. 5 of those 10 years was spent on the road touring as a stage tech. That tool has repaired everything from drum kits, guitar amps, speakers, stage lights, and so much more. Now that I work in an office I dont carry it as much as I use to but its still my go to anytime I do home repairs.
Service Plumber here, I've owned several waves for about 15 years and have been using the free p4 for about a year and 1/2. I interchange between them both but never go without on my person. I literally pull out my leatherman on EVERY single job I go to. I use it for EVERYTHING. Often times I'll arrive on the job, assess the problem, and resolve it without having to go to my truck for another tool. I have abused the holy crap out of everyone I've owned and only had one break. I had it for 10 years and so I'm hesitant to send it in for replacement as it is a sentimental piece for me. I also have owned a wingman and used it heavily until I lost it on a job. I've also owned a rebar which was not really used by me as I didn't have much use for anything I can't open with one hand. So I gifted the rebar to a cousin years ago. LOVE the wave. It is seriously the best. But I LOVE the p4 for it's satisfying feel and one hand operation. Most of the time my hands are full and I just need something to pry with or hammer with or cut with or torque with on a moment's notice. Being able to reach into my pocket witg one hand and get whatever I need is a lifesaver
Yeah, I’ve most recently had the p4. More recently lost it, like I do every leather man I’ve owned. I to am a plumber. I can’t live without my leatherman. My only real remark is that I couldn’t get the same feel or satisfaction that I did with the Charge. I had each variation of the charge. Obviously all very similar, but the tti just fit my bill. I’ll never learn and buy another. Right now.
My dad has carried an og pst leatherman. He was given it by my greatgrandpa when he was twelve. My great grandpa, grandpa, and dad have all carried one as long as I can remember. Great grandpa was a carpenter. Grandpa was a mechanic. Dad works producing construction tools. Leatherman is a great company. I am looking into getting myself a leatherman and maybe getting my dad a new one so he can retire the gift from great grandpa. Love the videos guys. Have a great day!
SO RIGHT on suggestion. All points are very accurate. As A 15 yr union trained Carpenter and a 20 yr Facility Manager. The Surge is my daily go to - the multi purpose function fits all or most needs, to get thru the work day... I cant believe I just seen this video and it's so accurate. Great, I will say Amazing review on Daily Carry for most trades. Thank you for that. Spring loaded plyers, switching bit tips and exchanging blades - so much value...
Back in my Army days (70s.. early 90s)... when the Supertool came out, we all went to our base exchange to buy one. The Army wouldn't fund them for us, but knowing what a great asset the tool would be for us... just naturally it was a must to buy one. Skip forward 30 years later... still have my Supertool, as well as about five other models. Oh yeh... I broke the file on my Supertool about 2005. I wrote a letter to leatherman. They had me ship it to them, and it came back with a new file on it. No charge. No questions asked. That's quality service!
I have carried my Squirt on long term travels in well over 20 countries. It lives in my washbag and has done everything from shoe repairs to meal prep. It's an amazing tool for the money and has been totally reliable. i also have a 1995 vintage Supertool and a Charge Titanium.
Carried a Leatherman Juice every single day for several years. It was the perfect EDC tool for me. I lost it earlier this year and I'm still in morning. My life hasn't been the same since. #gonebutneverforgotten
The leatherman surge is my most used tool ever, especially when you pair it with the set of bits you can buy for it. I have it on my waist everyday and normally have to use it more than once a day at work. The scissors on that thing are no joke, they can cut through really thick zip ties that are hard to get at with the knife.
To each his own. I have carried, caressed and adored The Leatherman Wave for just over a decade and it's on my person every waking moment W/O exception.
I really like this video. You told all you could tell within your knowledge, without disrespecting the cheaper options or favoring one over the other. And all that without bragging about your knowledge, experiences or wealth. I really like the content!!
Without a doubt the best Leatherman infomercial I have ever seen--outstanding job. I have PST originals, in the box, Waves, Charges , etc. Love the quality, practicality, American made and just for you, they beat Swiss Army knifes--hands down. I have a box of Swiss Army with no handles--I constantly drop them and the handles brake--slippery. HA
I carried and used my skeletool a lot in construction. Used it a ton on generators and tools alike. Also great to be able to use the driver in a T handle configuration in tight spots. And the carabiner was a really nice option as well so I didn’t drop it in trenches or down a hill on a job site.
I got me the signal and bit kits+driver may of ‘21. I’ve carried a Gerber multitool throughout my time in the navy (07-11), but lost it after I got out. The leatherman signal is by far the finest multitool that I’ve ever owned. I don’t leave my home without it, and use it almost every day.
I work in the wind energy industry and it requires a lot of different hard use tools. Cured fiberglass infused with resin and hardener is the fastest way I’ve ever tested the capacity (or failure) of knife steels and overall design. Two things I have every day and have had in my pocket there for 6 years: a Kershaw that’s tipless, (I think it’s just basic steel, but it’s about seven years old so I don’t even know what kind of Kershaw it is) scratched up, sanded down and has a measurable amount of dust inside the handle- and a Skeletool. The 420 HC holds up incredibly well, And because the knife is built into the body of a multi tool it’s a lot harder to bend or abuse then I had ever thought. I’ve used the pliers to rip, bend, pull, break. I’ve used the blade to pry (yesss because I have to sometimes), to slice, to impale- Sometimes I have to stab the side of a heavy box and torque the knife so I can drag it towards me- I could go on and on. The replaceable bits, everything. I will never be at this job or another job one single day without a knife and a Leatherman in my pocket.
Surge is my favorite. It has good pliers, good selection of usable tools and it can actually handle some abuse. I've broken so many leatherman tools over the years but the surge still lives after a couple of years of use. There is a couple of things I wish leatherman would offer. It would be so cool if they had 2 or 3 base models in each size format that you could customize with whatever tool you wanted. The second thing that would be nice was if they made the tools serviceable in a way that you could buy new tools and change them yourself. I don't want to send my tool in for service when something is worn out or breaks, I want to fix it myself.
I've purchased a Wave+ last month, have been saving money since May little by little. This thing became my third hand. I still need to buy bit set and extender, but even out of the box it has so much utility. Sometimes when I'm at home I have to force myself to go and get my tool box and not just use the Leatherman for everything. But when I'm out at work or wherever, this thing on my belt gives +100 to confidence. Previously I had to carry small needle nose, screwdriver, use Opinel as main knife, and overall my EDC was a little bit messy. After purchasing the Wave+ I moved all those tools to the box (I still carry Opinel for food prep at work breaks).
Man you just made life easy for so many people who want to buy leather man multi tool. I was building tool kit for motorcycle and looking to buy a multi tool and came across this video and it’s really helpful.
@@bethpaull7105 I couldn't decide between Surge and Signal as I have a habit of riding for some distance, treak and after trekking I ride back home. In the end I purchased both. For me instead of carrying simple nose pliers and adding weight to the toolkit, I wanted to include as many functionalities as possible. Just FYI My tool kit is based on Wera Zyklop ratchet, wera's allen keys are the best as they don't strip the bolt heads and next is Knipex/Gedor Plier's wrench with this combo you could do quite a bit of stuff. And for working in intricate spaces with hex bits go with Toptul's Locking Flexible Head Mini Bit Ratchet- CHEV0811 and FTDF0810. Hex bits of Leatherman are of very little use when it comes to tuff jobs.
Still rocking my Charge Ti from 2006*...invaluable. Great video guys, Leatherman truly deserve the love they get. *the only time a 14 year old product doesn't sound that old.
Great vlog! I'm from the UK and bought my Leatherman (locking) PST with leather holster in Portland around 1990 while on a rock'n'roll tour. They were hard to find outside the States back then. I've used it for years now and it's still going strong. Great review...might get a PS mini tool but it will certainly outlast me now!
The most well rounded tool. No doubt. I only wish they would add a replaceable bit driver in the space of the extra washer, lenyard hole or small flathead. I'd lose my mind.
First off, great review! I’ve been running the Skeletool for the last two years, it’s been working out great for my needs. I’m retired so I only use my multi-tool periodically, mainly around the house but sometimes when I’m out and about. But wherever I’ve been it’s come ready to play, so I couldn’t be happier!
I work in a school doing maintenance. For the past 4 years my carry around tool has been a Skeletool. It is amazing how many of my tasks can be done with the Skeletool knife blade, pliers and 4 screwdriver bits. I added the extra bit set to make it even more versatile. Just bought a Signal, will see if extra features (like the saw) are worth the extra size and weight. Will definitely be great on camping trips.
My dad bought the charge tt 7 years ago but after those years he decided that he wants something bigger, so he went for the surge and I got the charge from him, I use it nearly every day and once it even saved my first date with my girlfriend 8 months ago, we went to the movies and her glasses decided to break apart, luckily we found all the pieces and using the micro bit I fixed them and she was able to see normally again (you should know that seeing everything properly is pretty useful when watching a movie)
I own a few leathermans. The first one I carried was a juice kf4 but for Christmas one year I got a wingman and I loved it and carried it everywhere and used it uncountable times. Then me and my family were looking through my dead grandpa’s stuff and found 2 waves, so one went to me and one to my brother. My father carries a fuse, keeps a charge as a spare, and carries a super tool in his truck. My friend owns a skeletool he got from his father.
The Leatherman Rebar is the best Leatherman multi-tool. The Rebar is the best balance of cost, lightness, and robustness. Comparing it to the Wave+, for instance, The Wave+ and bit kit costs the same as two Rebars! I'd rather have two Rebars than one Wave+. Having to buy and carry bits for the Wave+ only adds to the cost and to the weight. Moreover, the scissors on the Wave+ are basically useless for anything but for thread snipping.
Just bought my leatherman surge today and it is everything I hoped for and more. Solid multi-tool to accompany my leatherman wingman and gerber suspension nxt, which have both served me very well.
For sure! The Wingman is in my pocket and the Surge with the bit kit is in my EDC bag every day. Great combo. I ordered a Skeletool the other day, looking forward to trying it out. The package opener on the Wingman is awesome!
I have a style ps2 and squirt, one of which I will take backpacking, a juice (RIP) I carry in my everyday bag, a skeletool I keep in my fishing bag, and a wave I use around the house and take car camping. Absolutely love how many different size/weight options are offered by leatherman.
Took PST from my dad's tool box and use it for about 4~5 years. Its great that PST still stands today and helps me and my friends a lot when in need for the tools.
I was watching the viral video of the hiker/runner being stalked by the cougar protecting its cubs and at the end of the video he turns the camera on himself. It's Kyle from BLADE HQ! WHAT!!! ??? Small world.
Skeletool cx has been my edc since it was released, it is light enough to carry in my pocket. I always take my charge with me when hiking, fishing or hunting. I’m a fan for life.
I wanted a multitool to place in my survival kit and chose the Leatherman Sidekick. I don't use a multitool that often but occasionally find use for them while camping and bought a Victorinox Rangergrip 178 that has six tools. The two tools I use most are the blade (serrated to cut cordage) and the saw which helps in notching wooden stakes for tent pegs or supports for hanging pots over a camp fire.
I've carried a crunch for a while and I will say it is my go to multitool for working on a vehicle., the locking pliers are slightly smaller than most conventional locking pliers but they're just as strong and usable. Although you said the blades and tools dont lock but they actually do.
I have a Surge in my truck, a Sidekick in my camping gear bag, a Skeletool CX in my pocket, and a Stylus CS on my keychain. My Dad was an owner operator log trucker who carried an OG in a sheath everyday. I remember it well. From fish hooks on the river to tightening hose Clamps on air hoses on the trucks, he whipped it out often. I wish I knew what became of it.
Because my brother was moving all my tools where in his new house. At home i needed to hang up a lamp incl electrical wiring etc. i used my leatherman for stripping wires, drilling a hole in a plastic housing, cutting some thin steel, screwing the lamp on the wall etc. i was very happy i did it all with my leatherman!! it was the OHT. greets from the Netherlands
I've carried and used Leatherman tools since the mid-90s (my original Supertool is out of warranty now!), and I've tried quite a few different models over the years, usually due to something being on sale or clearance. I've owned (and still own) all of the following: Supertool Micra Kick Blast Wingman Sidekick Rebar Of all these, the Rebar is the one I carry and use all the time now - most of the others are distributed in various toolboxes, the car, camping gear etc. I'm tempted by the Wave, but it's heavier and pricier than the Rebar. I got a lot of professional building and maintenance use out of the Supertool as well, but that one's kind of retired now ;-)
I own several Leathermans (Leathermen?) but my go to tools for the farm are the ST300, MUT, and Surge. Hard to beat those beasts! The ST300 is easily my favorite. I love the classic design. Awesome video guys!
I do deliveries and I am a full-service moving company and I carry the Leatherman PST. My grandfather carried it also, yes the same one. I use it every single day. I think since it’s so old and pretty much a classic that I am going to retire it. Still has the same leather case in mint condition. This video helped a lot, after screen shotting all these multi tools, I have to figure out which one to get!
Great rundown! I never realized how many leatherman tools I have until I watched this: I carry my wave hiking (I put a small ferro rod on the side of the case meant for the bit extender). Rebar around the house. I got a used, loose sidekick off ebay and sent it to leatherman and it came back good as new. It lives in a slot on my fishing bag and the spring loaded pliers come in handy when holding a fish in one hand. The saw’s also good for clearing branches when wading in creeks. I also keep a squirt in my center console and wingman in my trunk. I used to have a micra until I gifted it to a friend 10+ years ago and he still has it on his keychain
excellent session.I bought my wife the wave.she loves it.Bought my first leatherman at ll beans in freeport maine and it was manf.in may of 1994.came with leather case.still have it and use it and carry it when we go hiking
I own a bunch of them but my Wave+ is still my Fave+. Surge is too big to EDC, Skeletool too wimpy. But bottom line I use the Wave 10x more than the others. It’s just about perfect.
Rebar!!! By far the best in my opinion. Used it for years for working construction then used it in my new job as a wildland firefighter. Great tool. The can opener is huge for me working in the woods, very often out lunch in cans so its so handy to have a can opener in a tool. Pliers are great for doing small maintenance on chainsaws out in the woods... However Lost my beloved rebar after 3 1/2 years😭😭😭😭. Fell out of my fire pack, didn't realize my zipper was open. Rip to my rebar. We will see which one i get next.
That TSA safe tool is great. I've been through lots of airports with it. The agents are used to seeing it and it's never been a problem. Its also so lightweight, very nice kit for the carry-on.
I used to carry a rebar everyday for 3 years and loved it, then I bought the wave plus because of the bits and diamond file. I have been carrying the Wave plus for 2 years so far and I love it more than the rebar because of the countless uses I've found for it.
I went with the Surge. I like how beefy it is and how it appears to be very sturdy. I’m a firefighter and we are pretty routinely changing smoke detectors and doing other task that would require a good multi tool. I can’t wait to receive mine.
The original Wave that I bought at a tech conference in late 1999 or early 2000 is still part of my EDC. At this point it's broken in enough that I can flick the pliers open. I did upgrade to the new sheath; the original was a more rigid nylon one with hook and loop closure.
My uncle gave me a Wave around 15 years ago and just recently the blade snapped in half. Everything else still works perfectly fine. You definitely get your money’s worth!
I love Leatherman, I have two surges, a wave, a p4, and a charge plus in earth g10. Awesome tools they've got me through a lot of sticky situations. The only thing is I wish They would upgrade to at least a mid-range steel from 420 HC. Yes I know it is easy to sharpen but it dulls so fast, That's one of the main reasons why I got the charge plus, it has a S30V blade. I wish they would at least upgrade to a mid-range steel on all of their tools to 154 cm or something like that. Then they would be the ultimate king.
I fully agree with this. The Surge is great but I usually also carry something light like an Opinel for actual cutting. A bit awkward that a €10 folder has a better knife than the €140 multitool.
I do a lot of fishing and hunting. I bought the Wave about 15 years ago because I need the scissors for cutting line, diamond sharpener to sharpen hooks and other blades, saw for cutting branches and the fact that it has 2 different complete blades. I also bought the leather sheath for it because it holds a couple of extra screw driver bits.
I was given the Wave as a gift, had it for almost 8 years now. It goes everywhere with me. Used it for everything from camping, fishing(de-scaling), hunting (gutting, dressing), working on firearms, working on the truck, working on the house, there is not a week that goes by that it doesn't get used. Got all the spare parts as well. Looking to get the Signal soon.
My first leatherman was the Free P2. I thought it was the perfect model, but after i bought the wave+, i'm not so sure anymore. The wave+ is an Awesome Multitool.
I got an original back in 86 that I loved ,(till I was a little too ruff with) then a Sog and a gerber ,(hand pincher) . At work they gave us a wave that’s handy. I have Tread that I’ve never used but the one I can’t live without is the Crunch. The locking players are a game changer hands down throw in the standard 1/4” hex drive socket and your not limited to Leatherman products.
Men pay attention! Just buy one, I’m so tired if everyone saying “hey man can I borrow your knife”. And they’re like “ wow it’s a leather man, I should get one of these”. To which I always reply, “yeah you should they’re like $50, and can can be a big boy and have your own”.
5 years and still going strong Leatherman Skeletool ! Buy it carry it use it LOVE IT ! EXCELLENT WARRANTY After 5 years I needed a new blade so I took it back to where I bought it 6 days later they sent back a Brand New Skeletool !! 100/100 Service WARRANTY!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I've been carrying a Skeletool for years and it's all I need for everyday use, slim profile for easy pocket carry. I also have several others, Wave, Super tool, Squirt to I think.
Great video. I have to say, I am extremely happy with my skeleton multi tool. I bought it 4 years ago and then lost it outside somewhere. I just found it again lying in the dirt. It had been there for 4 years and through all the elements mother nature could put on it. Snow and freezing temps, rain and mud. After all that I was amazed that when I picked it up it looked like I just got it in the mail. I mean I just washed off the dirt and it looked brand new, not one speck of rust. I have had all sorts of budget multi tools but none compare to Leatherman.
That was a cool and informative video. I still have an OG Leatherman and an OG Wave - both issued in the military at different times. I've used them countless times and carried them around the world. I've had my eye on the Free series for a while now...maybe I'll ask the wife for one for Christmas.
After years of staying away from Leatherman due almost entirely to me needing a true one hand multi tool that works while wearing gloves I found and love the P2 and T4 they are my true EDC tools. I never go anywhere without the T4 and the p2 is always with me on my truck. I hope Leatherman keeps the free line forever
Crazy! I was just watching the last Leatherman video with Ben and Mote yesterday, thinking "man! I wish they would do a new Leatherman video!" Thanks #BladeHQ
Have the Leatherman Kick. Have carried it everyday at work since I was 16, I'm 31 now. It has done farm work, to landscaping, to hvac, to outfitter, to now concrete. Small light simple. The longest most consisten knife i have owned. And I have alot of knives
Leatherman make some great multi-tool knives. However, I do wish that they devise a method for swapping the tools on their new tool platforms, specially the free series.
I been debating on getting a wave. I bought the skelatool as a birthday gift and I love it. I’ve used it to tighten down screws in door handles and working on my car. Used to when I was replacing a light switch in the bathroom and to help install my mini split ac system! I find myself using it more that and edc knife during these COVID times. As my 5 year old son gets older it will become his first leatherman and I can wait for the day to pass it down to him! Heritage and reliable is a damn fine way to describe Leatherman! Keep up the good work Zac!One day I’ll make it out to Blade HQ for a visit!
Don't give away your skeletool! I own many leathermans to choose from, and the skeletool is the one that has found its way in my pocket everyday for the last decade. The extra functions on other models are not worth the bulk and weight imo, and you'll just end up buying another skeletool. I do use the other tools, and sometimes choose to carry the surge rather than the skeletool, but only when I know Ill be on situations that call for the extra tool set. I never carry my wave or wingman, they are just collecting dust.
Very very good point....not only an EMT must have but I would even say pretty much all first aid kits (because the scissors that come with them are usually crap)
I really want to like my Raptors.... but, they’re not as pocket friendly as I initially thought. Just haven’t found the right place on my kit for them.
Line 4 Expeditions they really are not practical if you actually work EMS. Good in thought but they don’t do anything better then what you already carry. They’re more of a flex piece then anything. They’re the yeti cooler of EMS gear

The Squirt is a great EDC. Well built, great tools and a size that makes it easy to carry without being in the way.
My grandfather recently passed away and was a man of all trades, while going through his work bench area I found his leather man pst with the original sheath. Was the only thing I took of his but that thing will remind me of him everyday.
Sure, you can open the pliers one handed once they are broken in but the free has all of it's tools on the outside and easy to operate one handed. Can't say the same for the inside tools of other leathermans. That said, I still think of the free series missed the mark. Not having a bit exchanger was a massive oversight in my opinion.
I can flick my Charge Tti open with one hand. Would a Leatherman Free be nice to have? Sure. Would I spend the extra money just for the fidget factor? Guess not. I'd rather get myself a Skeletool.
I've carried the Sidekick ever since I got cactus in my foot and no one had a pair of pliers to help pull it out. It has been in my right pocket every day until I lost it one fateful day in South Dakota. I am on my second one and I love the quick access knife and the spring loaded pliers, even in my office job I use it every day. 10/10.
Derek Holcomb I lost mine recently after about a decade of carry. The ring is still on my keychain, so I suspect it broke on the little tab where the keyring goes.
My father bought an original leatherman before I was born. When he passed, I took it. It still works like new.
Talks about leatherman's Original Quality... They are trending to the "American designed and China Made" wagon nowadays
Dude if it was brand new that would go for like 300 bucks
@@RIP_Texpert that doesnt surprise me. It works like new, but its worn for sure. I wouldnt sell it anyways though.

Whether the Style is TSA compliant or not depends entirely on whether the agent who processes you through security wants to take it for himself.

There is an OHT in your future
how is your experience with the p4s magnets? i work construction and i would think there would be a dirt issue
Have a great day!
im the leather man
SO RIGHT on suggestion.
I squirted semen on my squirt so it has my residue
I used a MUT in a trade situation for years. I found the hammer and long bits to be super useful. It was absolutely fantastic.
Carried a Leatherman Juice every single day for several years. It was the perfect EDC tool for me. I lost it earlier this year and I'm still in morning. My life hasn't been the same since. #gonebutneverforgotten

RIP Juice
You forgot to mention the surge takes a standard T fitting for the saw/file, so you can replace it with any jigsaw blade

Also the crimpers are in between the handles not the piler head.
@@4Thug2Life0 im leather man.
Even in the shower? But where do you.........oh
I really like this video. You told all you could tell within your knowledge, without disrespecting the cheaper options or favoring one over the other. And all that without bragging about your knowledge, experiences or wealth. I really like the content!!
Wave w/ bits, extender and Microstream and tinny ferro rod in one kit. Just perfect. And Raptor when at work as a paramedic.
HA
Those handles are really easy to replace and cheap as chips. If you want larger go for the 111mm SAKs.
Zach, I want to commend you for getting all the way through it and was solid the whole time! Well done.
I literally just bought my wave + 10 minutes ago and I'm in love
Just got mine for my 21st.
I've been using Leatherman multi-tools for decades and their blck Surge for several years. Outstanding product!!
I agree. The Tread is very unique. Useless as a politician but very unique.
After purchasing the Wave+ I moved all those tools to the box (I still carry Opinel for food prep at work breaks).
don't fight it. I have been carrying Leatherman tools since 1985, and I use them almost every day, weather I am home or out and about.
@@OtherThanIntendedPurpose which multitool is your favorite?
@@NATOnova of all that I have ever had or used, the gen 1 wave.
My Dad had a pst in the airforce and thats where my love for knives and multitools started. Very amazing story.

Man you just made life easy for so many people who want to buy leather man multi tool.
I was building tool kit for motorcycle and looking to buy a multi tool and came across this video and it’s really helpful.
Which Leatherman did you go for in the end? I am now doing the same - building a tool kit for motorcycle.

I couldn't decide between Surge and Signal as I have a habit of riding for some distance, treak and after trekking I ride back home.
In the end I purchased both.
For me instead of carrying simple nose pliers and adding weight to the toolkit, I wanted to include as many functionalities as possible.
Just FYI
My tool kit is based on Wera Zyklop ratchet, wera's allen keys are the best as they don't strip the bolt heads and next is Knipex/Gedor Plier's wrench with this combo you could do quite a bit of stuff.
The REBAR still rocks. Never let me down. Will still be my first choice.
Rebar all day
The file in the Rebar is a hogging material beast! No scissors, get a style C's, or micra as a sidekick.
My Wave A+ custom is my work EDC.
yup the best one, no gimmicks just function
I've had my Wave+ for 2 years now and I love it! Great video as always guys!
My friend owns a skeletool he got from his father.
i crashed my wave 2 and send it to Leatherman . 4 Weeks later leatherman send me a brand new wave + :-) . the service is perfect and the wave + also .
Can’t sleep university final exam coming up. Watching your videos relax me!
I love my sidekick, I bring it when I'm hiking or mountain biking. It is very well built and sturdy and it has a very good variety of tools.
I've owned (and still own) all of the following:
Supertool
Micra
Kick
Blast
Wingman
Sidekick
Rebar
Of all these, the Rebar is the one I carry and use all the time now - most of the others are distributed in various toolboxes, the car, camping gear etc. I'm tempted by the Wave, but it's heavier and pricier than the Rebar. I got a lot of professional building and maintenance use out of the Supertool as well, but that one's kind of retired now ;-)
Super helpful Leatherman product line overview... well worth the 38 minutes spent covering 21 tools. Thanks for compiling and making the video!
I own several Leathermans (Leathermen?) but my go to tools for the farm are the ST300, MUT, and Surge. Hard to beat those beasts! The ST300 is easily my favorite. I love the classic design. Awesome video guys!
Just gotta love the old school style of the Supertool 300. There is nothing that beast can't handle.
The Wave + is just such a great all rounder would highly recommend for EDC
Ounce for ounce probably the best multi tool there is
couldnt agree more; got me out of so many fixes!
Couldn’t agree more I love my wave it’s a tank 😁
As a first Responder and machinist the REBAR will forever be my 🐐
excellent session.I bought my wife the wave.she loves it.Bought my first leatherman at ll beans in freeport maine and it was manf.in may of 1994.came with leather case.still have it and use it and carry it when we go hiking
How do you like it so far? been using it a lot?
For years I balked at the Skeletool but now I might be in love. I personally think that a magnetic skeletool would be damn near perfect!
I carried the rebar for at least 5 years in a maintenance job. Just switched over to the surge and I love it
My first leatherman was the Free P2.
Yeah I don't like when ppl keep asking for my stuff repeatedly. I always think why can't they just buy their own?
I never mind loaning my knife for a few minutes.
Like Nelson said, it never hurts to have another set of prints.

I also have several others, Wave, Super tool, Squirt to I think.
Squirt, *too
Same, I own a bunch of leathermans and it's my skeletool that I carry. It's been in my pocket almost everyday for a decade.
I have a surge that has served me well during a combat tour in Afghanistan. I recently bought a skeletool for EDC. Both have been outstanding
I have a Wave+ that will be 1 yr old this Christmas (got it as a gift). I can open all tools, except for the saw and file, one-handed :)

You missed an important one- the Raptor. An EMT must have.
Yea that should have been on the table. I carry one in my vehicle.
Very very good point....not only an EMT must have but I would even say pretty much all first aid kits (because the scissors that come with them are usually crap)
As a paramedic, the 5,000 6 dollar amazon trauma sheers that are scattered across the ambo work just fine
The wave+ also has crimpers!
Thanks for the info, I have carried the wave for about 25 years and I love it.
Rebuilt a large part of the front end of my 1992 F150 with my SuperTool, in my college dorm parking lot.
My grandfather recently passed away and was a man of all trades, while going through his work bench area I found his leather man pst with the original sheath. Was the only thing I took of his but that thing will remind me of him everyday.
You can open a surge and wave one handed once they are broken in.
Yeah, I could do it once it was a few months old. All of the tools, too, with practice. Haven't had mine for a year yet xD
@@jayjayhooksch1 that was what prevented me from buying it

I've carried the Sidekick ever since I got cactus in my foot and no one had a pair of pliers to help pull it out. It has been in my right pocket every day until I lost it one fateful day in South Dakota. I am on my second one and I love the quick access knife and the spring loaded pliers, even in my office job I use it every day. 10/10.
I’ve had a micro for edc for more than a decade. I wouldn’t be caught without it.
Derek Holcomb I lost mine recently after about a decade of carry. The ring is still on my keychain, so I suspect it broke on the little tab where the keyring goes.
Great overview of Leatherman multitools and the use case of each tool.
