You should try and roleplay with those NPCs a bit more. There's no point asking them about real life stuff - be in character, be a Fallout guy asking them about Fallout things.
Right? Who tf cares about so many trivial Information. No one is gonna ask this sh*t in this Game, AI should just make the game more immersive. No point in asking some characters if they like Xbox or PlayStation more
I didn't mean to be too critical - the fact is I really do love Beardo Benjo's reactions and banter! But in this case, while a great video overall, I simply felt like he missed an opportunity here. Perhaps he's not that sort of gamer, which is ok too ;) PS. The NPC whose wife got kidnapped and who declared being single the very next second really made me chuckle out loud and it was well after midnight, I probably woke the whole family laughing ;)
This is actually what i do! i do like skits and stories with all AI NPCS! Their responses are unreal! i did a bunch of skyrim stuff and now just getting into fallout which is wild. bc their responses are so much more brutal.
Hey, thanks for trying out our mod. Your assessment of "it's very janky, but it's very cool" is pretty much where I feel the mod is at in its current state 😅. We're working on making the conversation system more robust to prevent frustrations like what you experienced on the bridge with the raiders. BTW, the gun and holotape can be crafted if you ever lose them for some reason. Happy gaming!
@@VRRat Thanks for the kind words! In the near future I plan on updating Mantella FO4 before switching to other projects so I don't want to promise anything concerning specific games.
I'll take the janky AI voice all day if at some point in the future our conversations can actually allow the AI to generate quests for us to do and the AI can remember the conversations you had with them. This really NEEDS to be implemented in future RPGs
I believe Nvidia already hinted they were working on this at their CES panel earlier in january, they showed off an AI that created it's own storyline in a video game and said AI will soon be able to make things like quests in upcoming RPGs.
I'm telling you, its the future of gaming. In 10 years, AI generated questlines, NPCs and backstories, etc will be the standard, and we won't know how we ever played games before AI.
😂 Oh, my bearded friend. You and I have been on the same path without knowing it, which is both funny and creepy, lol! I just set this up last Sunday, and the first conversation I had was with Preston. We had a full conversation about his thoughts on the TV show. I put the clip up on my YT and TikTok. But, anyway, if you add in those 2 optional plugins, their voices will be more natural and less A.I. like. It helps them pronounce things a bit better, and they actually have more emotion in their voice. Based on the video you linked, we used the same tutorial. And we even ran into some of the same issues and interesting responses. Love this video!! 👊🏻🍺 😂
This is so awesome to see some exposure on this! This is what my channel focuses on!! i do skits on stories in Skyrim and now Fallout VR using this awesome AI software and it is LIFE CHANGING! i seriously cant go back to normal gaming after this!!
I second the comment that mentioned trying to role-play more and have a conversation within the context of the game, would be hella interested in watching something like that!!
The thing with modern Fallout is that it takes place at over 200 years after the bombs fell. This is too far into the future for there not to be vegetation growing back.
I'm using the Mad God's classic modlist you inspired. Wanted that original feel since this is the first time I've played any Fallout game at all. 3-4 hours in and loving it.
@@coinsagE46m3 4070 Ti Super, running on a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop set to 90FPS and Ultra. Runs fine, in terms of performance I can max it out, no need to use DLSS or FSR. If you turn up the shadows and reshade you get weird artifacts at some points though (broken shadows).
Ai character interaction definitely add a great new dimension to the game for sure though some of the voices need a tweak. As for the trees and plants I asked Google Gemini this question: Do trees and grass still grow around the Hiroshima and Nagasaki areas after the atomic lasts in those areas? Yes, trees and grass absolutely grow around Hiroshima and Nagasaki today. The atomic bombs caused terrible destruction and loss of life, but life has returned to the areas. While the immediate effects of the bombs were devastating, the radiation levels have decreased significantly over time, allowing plants and animals to thrive again. Here are some additional points to consider: * Some areas very close to the detonation points experienced long-term effects on plant growth. However, even these areas have seen plant life return over time. * Hiroshima and Nagasaki are now large, green cities with parks, gardens, and trees lining the streets. So after 200 years there would certainly be a lot of regrowth looks like Bethesda got it wrong
Hello my man. Regarding the Trees, after several comparisons, I kept "Trees Redux". You shoud try it since it goes better with an post-apocaliptic world!!. Congratulations for your excellent content!
I don't see anyone saying anything about it but I love the trees. not just for the more lifelike feeling. but because even having trees, stuff can still feel barren. I feel often that they eccentricate the dilapidation that the wasteland already has. It just makes it feel more empty despite it being more visually full y'know?
The trees and the grass just makes sense. If a nuke were to explode over 200 years ago stuff would eventually begin to grow back (trees, grass, and more) if you look at the effects of the Hiroshima bomb you can see that people were able to live there just only a month later after the attack, because the radiation levels subsided. Yes I know the nukes in fallout were much more deadly, but then again it has been over 200 years since the bombs dropped. This would allow more things to grow in the fallout universe other than what the game describes. (This was just a guess, I’ve only been playing fallout 4 for about 2 weeks.)
Im really enjoying this series. Watching you start with the base game and then incrementally add/take away elements, to create the experience that you are after is both informative and immensely entertaining 😀 Please 🙏 please 🙏 please 🙏 do this with other titles. Make it "a thing".... a playlist if you will.
Not holding my breath for the mod list, down the modding rabbit hole, this could take a while 😂 As to the AI, an interesting addition that will no doubt get better with time and work but still really good fun at this stage.
Wabbajack lists have really 'fixed' modding. My "Gameplay loop" used to be "Play a bit, Mod it, Play a bit more, Mod it some more, keep modding it until the save breaks - start over." With Wabba lists, I'm running a FlatRim, and a VRim list with 1200 mods, and my Fallout list is close to 300 mods - all rock steady stable, and I don't really have any desire to add anything except maybe clothes and followers (for variety)...
I remember when people were giving you flack about talking over your playthroughs. I think your accent goes well with the fallout playthrough, Id watch a series on it. But definitely talk to the ai about fallout stuff more.
Ive spent a few days trying to dial in my mod pack. In pancake mode the shrubs look ok, but in vr you walk through them and you can see they are just 6 plant textures stacked at different angles. Your game might not look like a fallout wasteland anymore but It does look like a real vr world.
Now with the quest 3 and the fallout tv show reviving intrest in the game I hope there'll be an influx of polished modlists and maybe even new vr specific mods.
I've been waffling back and forth. If you go look at Ground Zero in Hiroshima in Google Earth, it's...a park with beautiful green full grown trees after only _75_ years - left untended for another *135* years, it would most likely be an overgrown forest with only so much left to indicate what had actually been there. But on the other hand - This is Boston at the start of November... Looking at Concord, there are some street view maps that are pretty green still - some of the trees are about to lose their leaves and are a really pretty red. (Go to Concord, MA, find Jethro's Tree, and move two "steps" toward the Old Hill Burying Ground to see what I mean...)
I think the vegetation mods are fine if they're tasteful. Plants still grow in irradiated areas. There still many trees, grasses, other plants, and even animals in Chernobyl.
I would love a video where someone actually tries to roleplay. All these youtubers just ask them real world questions or meme stuff and it's like... we have shitposts videos a plenty, we want to see what it can ACTUALLY be used for in terms of real entertainment.
The green trees and grass aren't really lore friendly, but they are VR friendly. I would like to see a good mix of green trees and dead trees. Maybe around the irradiated areas near the Crator of Atom, you see a whole bunch of dead trees, but as you get away from the radiation, the trees slowly become green again. I haven't used the mod, but maybe this is already a feature.
After 200+ years and not being directly hit by the bombs, I would think vegetation would start to begin again. So some green is fine, otherwise why don't we do a barren desert wasteland.

Did you know Ben that Mad God made another mod pack based on your feedback? Ive installed it but not had a chance to try it yet. Im wondering now if that has the more lush greens?
It's been the better part of a decade since I sunk over 200 hours (that's a LOT for me) into the flat Fallout 4 game. I have the VR version and told myself that when I'm ready to go another round that'd it'd be in VR. Knew I needed to mod it since said version was pretty janky when I played the first hour of it. I've decided that when you put together and share your mod list, that's my queue to give it a real go. I hope my 3090 can handle it!
3:41 id say its more accurate i mean by the time you leave the vault 210 years have passed since the war surely some trees and life would be coming back
I love this forested look to Fallout4, it's gorgeous and I don't think it's at all out of place actually. If you look at what Chernobyl looks like today, it is very green, lush and abundant animal life. And def agree about this use of AI though it clearly has some ways to go, needs to be virtually lag free, sound more natural and this is very important, to me at least, they should only have knowledge of things they'd logically would/could/should know about as an in-game character.
"If you look at what Chernobyl looks like today, it is very green, lush and abundant animal life" Hiroshima - Lush green park with fully grown trees 75 years later - add another 135 years of some place like that being completely "untended" and the whole thing will be overgrown forest...
Will be fun, if there i can take Cait, Nick Valentine and Paladin Danse and give them different orders. When Nick hacks terminal and turns off the light, Cait stealthly kills far standing guards and me and Danse getting ready for open fire just after blackout. It's been over 200 years since the bombs fell. One would assume that plants would come back by that time. Look at Bikini Atoll. The plants have recovered and we bombed the hell out of it, though the coconuts are admittedly highly radioactive. Still, I rather like the green look. Not appropriate for the Glowing Sea though, that place is sterile.
I quickly got tired of the brown-gray soup and started years ago to transform this desolate and boring wasteland into a "green" hell with a mix of Summer Overhaul, Luxor's Summer and Splash Pine Trees and the Grasslands 2.0 mod. I mean, look at Chernobyl. There are green meadows and forests 500m next to the reactor. In Fallout 76 they showed how to design an appealing world. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to the rest of the game :D
@@jacobquatkemeyer3823 na, don't like the janky gunplay, still no Mod support, no private server, limited building etc. I prefer my "own" designed sandbox.
It’s so weird to me how people seemingly are just so afraid of saying anything good about 76 without saying it’s bad. It’s great! I’m having a blast with it. And I’m a New Vegas player. I don’t understand what the problem is with it.

I love the grass and trees. I want the game to feel more real, and to just be prettier while exploring around. I already played fallout 4 flat years ago, I’m not looking for fallout-ish. These mods are perfect for that. Still looks like the wasteland to me. Just better looking. Just not sure if my system can handle it. What graphics card are you using.
In all actuality, I think some areas of Japan where the Nukes hit, and even Chernobyl with the meltdown, have plenty of plants and even animals (in Chernobyl for sure). So it could be accurate.
You should try and roleplay with those NPCs a bit more. There's no point asking them about real life stuff - be in character, be a Fallout guy asking them about Fallout things.

Fallout 76 is actually pretty sick now
@@jacobquatkemeyer3823 na, don't like the janky gunplay, still no Mod support, no private server, limited building etc.
I prefer my "own" designed sandbox.
It’s so weird to me how people seemingly are just so afraid of saying anything good about 76 without saying it’s bad. It’s great! I’m having a blast with it. And I’m a New Vegas player. I don’t understand what the problem is with it.
Modders be like : we're doing a better job in our garage by our lonesome than a multi billion dollar company... TODDDDD Howard should be ashamed. Why in the hell AI NPCs a thing in Starfield??
grass and trees wouldn't stop growing so its not unrealistic
I bet they are pretty good if you stuck to being in character.
The grass looks great and all, but it’s fallout…. I don’t think the grass would grow back but then again I’m not an exper ha
Im wondering if you added a shader maybe it'll help make the VR experience feel more fallout like
I love the grass and trees.
Yeah, both have plants and animals again.
Are you recording to the headset?? Wonder how you are recording such clarity?
That is so cool. I NEED IT
You'll never be 100% happy with a mod list.
You gotta make your own man. It could take a month. But it's the only way.
Next time ask Piper about the Fallout 4 world.
