I'll never forget the time I went to Steamtown and had my picture taken with 3254 Departing in the Background. Its one memory I'll always remember. I got to ride an excursion with her once, and thats one more thing off my bucket list.
@@rolanddeer6212 She is retired, and according to a volunteer she'll be changing her locations around the site. It's also sad because I feel like it's going to turn into 3377.
I live in NJ and I think Whippany Railroad Museum has their engine almost done, think they said 2013. They had to send it somewhere (wasn't Steamtown) to get it overhauled. Haven't seen that locomotive run in probably 17 years. Any chance Steamtown would do excursions with the 26? Can't recall if they ever did beyond the Scranton limited?
Uhh... I don't think so. First off, we are getting closer and closer to the completion of BLW #26, which will still technically be an operating steam locomotive at Steamtown. People (like you) wrongly insult Steamtown by calling it Dieseltown just because 3254 is the only steam locomotive operating at the current time, and conveniently share a yard with D-L. Not to mention that few people realize that Steamtown only owns 2 diesel locomotives, one being 514.
If you don't act like every foamer who doesn't realize that Steamtown is not a tourist line, then you lose my respect. Steamtown is an operating museum, and the excursions are the icing on the cake (D-L doesn't have to allow excursions operate over the tracks). Plus, if you ever notice, Steamtown is BUSY. They do work not only for their equipment but also for other groups. 3713 will be out eventually, but they don't stop working until everything is PERFECT on their locomotives, including on 26!
There's a few things that are beyond Steamtowns control and all that, I'm just as much of a steam fan as anyone out there, it just upsets me that people (the government) holds money back to fix these locomotives. Steamtown can only do so much, but it's frustrating bc this is the only group that's near by that has active steam. Whippany is trying like hell to get theirs back together and it's just as long. You'd think with the way congress spends you would see more steam at Steamtown.
At the rate Steamtown is going we might end up with Diesel town for a few years. Anyone think well see the Boston and Maine done before 2015? It's sad that it's taking almost 15 yrs to do the 15 yr rebuild... Goodness.
great catches and video of this run with this steamer
Her whistle is GREAT! I don't think you'll find a better whistle than that!
Chehalis Centralia Railroad #15 could top that.
Iowa Interstate 6988 could top that
I personally like the 3254 Whistle

thanks!
Thanks a lot, Steve!
They ring the bell so much in the Yard!
That’s precisely why
Thanks! Glad to hear you liked it!
Ah good old 3254. It’s really sad that steamtown is retiring her.
Are they at least preserving her? It'd be a ashame if they did anything to her. Best' put her in a museum if I had her.

TheBlueComet832 Yeah, I wish she was restored
The only steam locomotive that is planned to be rebuilt after 3713 is 2317 most likely
its sad that shes not in canada anymore
Sweet video Chad! 3254 looked amazing, job well done covering its first full run of the season!
3254 ran when I was a little baby
How did you get to the Elmhurst Reservoir spot?
Great video! I was there that day too, and I think I was standing next to you when you filmed parts of this!
3254 is a lot more impressive than 26 and i wish they would bring it back or maybe one of the other larger engines
Amazing video as always, bro! Thumbs up and a fav!
Awesome video as always, Chad! Enjoyed every minute of it!
AWESOME Chad!!! '54 looks great!!!

Well actually, BRW 60 was just fired up and will be ready to go sometime soon, and thats not that far away from here!
I was planning to see her run but sadly she’s on display
Fact 3254 has her frame issues
4:17-4:26 or end of train=PERFECT
That's gonna be the new polar express 2
A couple of years
I thought you already had them?
Video was awesome btw. How many years does the 54 have left before it needs an overhaul?

Blue Comet Productions Don't they own more then two now?
(As of 2018)
Heard about the 60, do they have trackage to run on, not that familiar with the group or locomotive
