I like both 2317 & 3254. Of the two I like them for different reasons. I really wish that 2317 could make a mainline trip sometime because too see her at speed(50-60mph) would truly be magnificent. She wasn't meant for 30mph rails. For 3254, she is great for Steamtown. Her driving wheels turn faster at slower speeds. That is what I like about her. It will be exciting to see 26's return and the debut of 3713 in the near future.
Their both he’s so you know, not being rude, 2317s my personal favorite cause I grew up watching it and continue to watch it to this day. It’s sad the CN 3254 wont run ever again, but in my opinion, anything can be fixed
@@gabetrain8834 not to sound rude, but there are two reasons that Steamtown say that 3254 will never run again. 1) her frame is bent from a wreck she had years ago from which she wasn’t repaired properly, and 2) her boiler is in really bad shape (it leaks like a siv). Her boiler could be repaired but her frame apparently can’t. Sorry man
Her whistle is really beautiful I'd loved to see her in person but sadly she's no longer operational also it's a shame she no longer runs cause she's waiting restoration at steamtown just like 3254 I just hope she'll be up and running again some day
@@nicholasmedovich8691 I'm pretty sure 3254 will steam again one day plus 2317 is said to be worked on after 3713 is complete and should be competed by 2021 and besides sure 3254's frame is bent anything can be fixed if you throw alot of money at it
I guess you're right about that then. But I would think that any trailing truck is made to support a whole lot of weight anyway since it's supporting a part of the train the whole time, something that weighs a whole damn lot
Well Steamtown has enough trouble with just 3254 and 2317.. They surely couldn't manage 4 different steamers at Steamtown. 2317's downfall is that it derails almost yearly..
No, they were not "designed" to, but easily could without problems... It was just better to face forward back in the day because it was easier for the crew to look forward. They could easily go that fast in reverse without problems. You do realize the reverse mechanism works by moving the eccentric valve to the other side, thus sending steam into the other port and moving in the opposite direction, right? It's the same thing only the rods are going in a different direction.
It's kind of up in the air at this point. The primary goal is 3713 right now, which should be done within the next 3 years. After that another will go in. Right now the tentative plan is 3377 (nearly identical to 3254). Once that is done we could see 2317, but both 3377 and 2317 are so far out anything could happen.
trainern8 3713 has been 3 years out to completion for as long as I can remember, and it’s required major funding by a local nonprofit to help get it this far. Feds aren’t too interested in restoring these guys. Just look around the rest of the yard there. It’s sad.
That whistle puts the shivers right up my spine!! Absolutely the coolest machine man ever made - THE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE!!!!
steam power is the true heart beat
It is a beautiful locomotive aint it
I agree 100%
Wow, that whistle is just pure magic. Hope to see 2317 steam again.
Wow..... That sound is AWESOME!!!!! THE ONLY BEST INVENTION EVER MADE, THE STEAM LOCOMOTIVE!!!!
awesome video of this railroads water gap run with this CP steamer
nice whistle and horn action too
Man i really like that whistle!
im glad they changed the whistle on 2317 to this one. the other one you see in some videos sounds horrible
I wish I knew about that train, I'd love 2 go 2 the Water Gap.
Hope when 2317 steam again she wears that beautiful Canadian whistle
Do you know what it is, I really want to know cuz it’s sounds like a New York Central 6 chime whistle, but I may be mistaken
@@gabetrain8834 i think it might be a cp 5 chime
Ok

Wow, That is one honkin' beast...
So much has changed in 13 years for steamtown since this run happened
And not much for the good imo. They're basically a shell of their former selves now
Limited funding and lack of visitors.
@@bobchessick4282 which is a shame
omg that whistle is just amazing.
I hope and wish once Canadian Pacifc 2317 returns to service she has the beautiful whistle on her that was blown several times in the video

Evan's Megazord Reviews 3254 will not be restored due to a cracked frame. However, 3377 might be after 3713. But that’s my opinion.

@@atsfevan0242 just got word that there is a new tender body out back from the roundhouse. Likely for CN SISTER 3377 sadly.

Remembering Canadian Pacific 2317 I sincerely hope she gets an extensive restoration to get back running in the future
TexasRailfan21 all she needs is her 5 year inspection and wheel work. I volunteer at Steamtown but I couldn’t say when they will do her restoration
Well it's still likely gonna happen, eventually...
Another great video. Keep up the great work!

makes ya wonder, when you see how fast 2317's wheels are spinning when she's being pulled home, why she cant go that face on her own
It’s possible the wheels were slipping, not normal to see them spin that fast going that speed
triple header with 3713 3254 and 2317
on second thought i might be mixing it up with another loco
I understand in reserve, I'm talking in general
Love It!!!
2317 is actually a G3c not a G3a
I doubt shes gonna be up bye next year, but hopefully she'll be up by 2010 for the convention
2019 and still waiting. Gotta love the Feds.
Pretty nasty wheel slip going on there at 7:52
K&L Trainz yes indeed.
K&L Trainz I know that was awful
I agree
wow! love the former BC Rail M420, great K5L on it as well. Why does 2317 derail so frequently?
Maybe sabotage
Wheel spin when the diesel is taking the train back.
2317 was a nice locomotive. Will we ever see it run again?
Only if climate change/global warming hysteria ever goes away. They’re in no big hurry to get any of these road engines back up and running.

2317 will but it'll be awhile
Wonder if mainline steam excursion operations will return to the Gap in the future? And what’s the current status of the Lackawanna Cutoff Project?

What chime whistle is that on 2317 3? 4? 5 CP chime?????
I don’t know
Probably a step top CP 5 CHIME
That's a CP chime on 2317 right?
Yes
