Just wanted to say thank you for everything you do. It’s because of you is why I got back into figure painting I stopped painting years ago. Then I ran across your channel and it inspired me to start painting again and got into 3d printing so just a little thank you Whitney Thompson
I bought mine in the Black Friday deals, never leveled anything.. did the exposure tests for my resin and have been running without issue or any technical pokery giggery - it just worked.. and I have gone through 6ltrs of resin in a few months.. no fails.
I have bought this machine too just before Christmas and only just got around to setting it up. So glad your video came out . Before I printed anything.
I absolutely love mine, I had a couple other resin printers before, but never had anywhere as good of an experience with them. Fewer settings is amazing. I feel like I finally know how to easily correct any errors, which hardly happen in the first place unless I really push it. Nice video!
im glad you left in the bits about it failing. i really struggle with getting super bummed out when 3-4-5 prints fail in a row, its nice to see that even "pro" printers deal with the same thing./
I have the regular Saturn 4 I like the way the build plate attaches a lot better than the old ball joint system. I'm using the new water washable 2.0 resin and haven't had any problems yet. Thanks Dad for your content.
Have this printer and have found the tilting vat to be a true differentiator. It allows for faster prints because the tilting motion provides a more gentle release action than ripping the build plate straight upwards off the film.
i have this printer. it's really bad ass! Wifi sending is 100% worth it. I also had to increase the base exposure time but other than that, it's smooth sailing. it also prints fast as hell
Youre the reason I got into 3D printing and figure painting. I bought this Printer a while back after your video on it. Unfortunately Ive seen more than my share of failures on it but still havent regret it.
Happy New Year 'Your Dad' . All the Best to You n Family .. Great Review as Always .. i bought myself a saturn 4 on xmas eve (arrived 27th dec) and not used yet .. but, gonna use soon, when i sort out some wash n cure stuff
It is a really nice machine, so far the only failures were due to temperature. Easily resolved that with a cheap brewers belt. The tilting vat kinda freaked me out at first, but haven’t had any issues and the reduced peel/suction force is really helpful when dealing with hollowed out models.
I went with the Mars 5 Ultra (smaller version of this) since I didn't have much room in my garage for this and I love it! my first resin printer and I couldn't be happier with it.
I received mine about 1 week ago - arrived with the VAT tilt arm in the wrong position missing the sensor. pretty easy to open up and fix (removing front cover, remove sensor, loosen top bolt at the arm and rotate the whole assembly then re-assemble). Have not printed just due to temperature in Garage but just received the Elegoo heater so it will be soon.
I have the Saturn 4 Ultra since September. It is my first printer, ever. I've done limittesting to understand exposure times. I only had one fail, because I wanted a small amount of supports, for a big piece. The bottom exposure time can be set to 50-60 seconds. It's not difficult to get it of the build plate for me. I use the Elegoo 8K resin. Befor you start: Understand what the parameters mean. And how orientation of the parts on the buildplate affects print quality. The details I get, can't get better. But as I say, I've done limittesting first. I use 1.8s with 25°C in my room indoors. Limittesting: this machine has a feature, where you can use different exposure times in one go. 4, 6 and 8 "fields". Thats very handy when you begin. I used the test from TableFlip Foundry. Its a nice machine, I have one and a Mars 5 ultra. The speed is fantastic even not in fast mode but I wouldnt have minded seeing a setting to slow the print speed down another notch only because I hate just having the option of turning up the exposure time. If you are new to 3D printing the self leveling stuff is very nice and once you dial in your exposure times it just works. Hope you're doing well Brent!
I love mine, I keep looking at the prints in amazement at the detail it makes, with no real effort from me. And I'm only using the old 4K resin in it. only issue I've had is the prints really wanting to stick on the build plate.
So I’ve used this printer and I reviewed it myself from a more technical aspect and details. What I found was the default lychee slicer profiles they probably had weren’t very good. I’ve found that they had some issues even in the most recent ones so I’m always tweaking those. I have the exact same issue with ““ leveling, but it was not the printer. It was the slicer and the profile I’ve used their new slicing program as well from LG it’s free and it pretty much works great. I do have to say also you didn’t use the spill bin which is really awesome to use although I realize you’re doing one hand so issues but showing the spill band that goes around when you’re moving prints on and off Probably would help some people because it’s really awesome like my cleanup now is so much easier. I don’t worry about extra towels or droppings because I just put that thing on there after open it up and bam move stuff in and out pour stuff it’s great.. Wishing you a happy new year Dad. From what I've seen, model makers that pre-cut pieces usually try to tie a break into part transitions. But Abe3D released a model of Aya Brea from Parasite Eve, and it's all skin from thigh to ankle. And I'm a super beginner when it comes to painting and model making (I tend to jump in face first without a lot of prep), so I'm wondering how you would paint the parts and hide the seams? If you've already covered this, someone could point me in the right direction, and I'd be much obliged. You and another youtuber named beezsculpts got me really interested in doing this.

Love the videos! Here's a question how hollow do you print your figures?

how do you not have a reaction to the resin? I haven't really been doing this very long and wear the mask and gloves whenever possible, now when I think about resin I get hives everywhere!
I just got one of these over christmas. So far it's been great. I did try to manually level it and was not even able to figure out how the hell to even get started, so right now im relying on the auto leveling feature and so far hasn't failed. Still, im afraid that if i have to for some reason manually level it im going to have a hard time. It's good, but something's a bit off. Also the bib to catch the resin, cause this one can be messy, and the fact that you don't have a handle to grab the plate when you remove it are kind of shit to be honest. Just some minor gripes, but overall it's a good printer.
I own 3. Loved them all until the most recent firmware update which seems to have killed all 3 screens in a matter of 1 week. Elegoo customer service is great though. If you want speed, the S4U is great. Otherwise just get an S3U.
I have that machine and works very well until i replace the "fep" film for a nfep" (was the only one aviable) and instead to decrease the time and being better, took to me like 4-6 failed prints to find the new sweet spot on settings (increasing time exposure a Lot and shutting off "high speed print)... So nfep on my case just increase my total timing print. Great videos dad.!

I've been using this machine for most of the year and have only bothered cleaning that build plate once when I changed over to a translucent resin. It isn't the worst thing to clean either.
To be fair it’s only necessary if you are changing colours and only really for like transparent resins I’d say and yea it won’t be the best of times but luckily not gonna need to happen too often
Not had a good print from mine. Been printing for a long time on other printer and this one fails over and over again. Has actually killed the hobby for me (at this time)

Awesome 👌 🇦🇺🦘🪃🏔🍻🍻
Happy New Year!!! 🎇 Cleaning around those screws on the build plate must be a hell of a task.
That's nothing you have to do regularly
I've been using this machine for most of the year and have only bothered cleaning that build plate once when I changed over to a translucent resin. It isn't the worst thing to clean either.
To be fair it’s only necessary if you are changing colours and only really for like transparent resins I’d say and yea it won’t be the best of times but luckily not gonna need to happen too often
Not had a good print from mine. Been printing for a long time on other printer and this one fails over and over again. Has actually killed the hobby for me (at this time)
A comment for Dad 😊
He my dad... Why doesnt slowdown ship to the Netherlands.... Hook me up man!
Can I get a free one!!! LOL.
I bought another s3u instead of this
I generally like your videos, but why didn't you just follow the instructions?
that is not how you pronounce FRESNEL, Daddy.
Won’t be the first word I don’t pronounce correctly
