    Käärijä is clearly joking with his comments and especially since Finland and Sweden have this friendly brotherly rivalry going on. He has also said in interviews that Loreen is a much better singer than he is. You can find that translated interview on TH-cam. He is cofident but he is not cocky. He is very down to earth and likable. Also the song actually has a very deep message. What was toy’s message? Käärijä’s song is about social anxiety and depression and not being able to be your trueself without having a couple of pina coladas.

    • @neconeconeco
      @neconeconeco ปีที่แล้ว +16

      He also has (endearingly) super limited English - I think him repeating the joke of "I am going to win!!" is honestly just down to it being something he knows how to say. like you said, he acknowledges and respects Loreen's talent and it seems like a friendly nod to the nordic rivalry. :))

      @@neconeconeco So true. The language barrier is also a big factor here. He keeps repeating the few things in English he knows how to say like it’s crazy, it’s party 😂🎉.

      @@alionele right? I admire his confidence haha, the Finglish is just too charming. but I'd hate to be judged based on what few things I know how to say in a language I barely know! i hope people can give him a little grace there :)

    Käärijä's song, even if it's a funny it's not a joke song. For me it tells about that you finally open up, dare to be who you are, don't care what other ppl think, be free - be you. And I think Alan should read the lyrics better. It's definitely not a nonsense song. I hope Finland will win💙

    When Käärijä is saying that he's winning and so on, that shouldn't be taken seriously. It's just finnish sarcasm 😆 We have won Eurovision only once. And been last many times. We know our history and realities 😂 (even though now I think we have a chance)
    In our culture it's also important not to be too proud, and when people like him are saying things like that, they're typically joking 😂 And I think it's funny, even as a joke, cause many of us should be more self-confident.

    • @jennikivinen-zt8xy

    It seems that a lot about Cha Cha Cha doesn't translate well outside of the Nordic countries, which is a shame. I'm happy that Paco who is from Spain gets it though. 😊 As a neighbour of Finland I understand Cha Cha Cha. So I'm expecting all of the Nordics to vote for Käärijä. Sweden and Finland compete in more things than Eurovision. It is a standard joke between the two. The other Nordic countries often pick on Sweden because it is the biggest Nordic country. It is not meant in a mean way. It's like when younger siblings pick on an older sibling. 🙂

    • @alionele
      @alionele ปีที่แล้ว +16

      This 100%!! Sweden is seen as the big brother by Finns and Norwegians. The pickering comes from a place of love and respect for each other.

      This Finn loves this comment! Yes for EVERYTHING you said! We might have this sibling rivalry thing between each other but the second we step outside and move/travel to other countries, we call ourselves Nordic and all the other Nordic countries are our brothers and sisters, not rivals.

    Seems abit strange seeing you all together when I subscribe to many of your individual channels. An interesting debate about Finland. I totally respect all your views but I do have a different one on the finland message. There is definitely a message and that is one of the struggle between shyness and confidence. Apparently the finish culture is affected by this. I can relate and must say I bet thousands of people watching this song and performance will begin to understand the message. I also think that the message is not just conveyed by words but moreover the visuals which clearly demonstrate the tussels as face with insecurities. From past voting I see the tekevoters voting this song with a huge majority and I also think it won't do that poorly with the jury's as its an intelligent / cleverly pieced together song performed brilliantly with a synergy to professional Cha Cha Cha dancers. I've picked the winner for the last 10 years with the exception of austria / conchita. I believe Finland / Sweden will go head to head and Finland will gain the crown. That said the support that's waining for Loreen will all come back nearer the time because she is superb. I think the Brits always like the underdog and will therefore support Finland more. Thanks for all your videos guys - I love listening to all your different views and it's great to see other enthusiasts happy looking forward to this year's contest. Kind regards. David (Leeds UK).

My personal "best finnish entry ever sent" favorite and I like it as a finnish person as well, on a deeper level cause I really live the message and it hits home, but the winner of the entire contest? Not likely. Top3 possible, top5 100% certain.

    There is a reason why I unsubscribed from Vin's channel and now it is justly confirmed. I really enjoyed the banter but Vins is a real party pooper. Cha Cha Cha will be staged incredibly as they can only go up from here whereas Loreen may have to significantly change her staging plus the song is jury bait vs for the people. *Malta* is a good song to hear but lacks power live. It might have qualified in SF2 but it's unfortunately in the SF1, the blood bath is served.
    *Moldova* is a sure qualifier, they rock in televoting. Moldova became the queen of Eurofolk/Technofolk and similars, and that's why we love this kind of songs from them.
    *Finland* might win televoting in both Semi and Final, but Jury will hurt him a bit, depending on what they will evaluate. He is joking about all that, Swedes and Finnish have friendly frenemy relation in sports and he is just using that to fire up the competition but it's just for fun, don't take him that serious. Sweden is going to give them 12 pts in Semi, and probably, in the GF. Finland is a top5 for sure.

      @@realStarTom Well in the interview Käärijä was asked to describe his song in three word:
      “1. Crazy. Because it basically combines two different songs and even more genres. There are all these different kinds of elements and different types of singing and rapping all mashed together.
      2. Party. Because the song is a party song and it’s about having fun. The story of the song is also based in a party.
      3. Dark. Because the sound and the story of the song are a bit dark as well.”

    Poor Vins, trying to explain "liliputter". It is true that in Dutch we call little people with achondroplasia that, although it is not really well seen to say that anymore. I think that a person with achondroplasia is nowadays called a "little person" in English and "klein mens" in Dutch, where before they would be called dwarf or liliputter (even medically "dwarfism" was a seriously used term). Nevertheless the most correct name of all would be "achondroplast". Just wanted to say so he can sleep well tonight 😅
    Then, thank you all for the lovely conversation again.
    I personally have Malta in my Top10, as well as Moldova. Don't like Finland and TOTALY agree with all terms used in minute 30🤣🤣🤣
    Malta, I absolutely feel better in a sweater and personally I love the sax and the quirkyness.
    Moldova, I really like his voice and the music, sounds a bit like France last year but better executed.
    Finland, Shane, as always, love your way of being clear, I would have answered exactly the same way 🤣🤣🤣And not in my top10 either 😘
    Agree with Georgi too, don't like the bragging and don't find it funny but Amer is right too, he is not only weird, he is also good. It's just that I think it's an anoying song that you love or you hate, Amer is right there.

    I think we have to remember that Loreen being a winner and being top on voting apps and betting odds currently is predominantly due to people in the Eurovision bubble and her past win. On the finals night (because she will qualify as more fans watch the semis) the majority of viewers are people that just watch the final for entertainment and go on a gut watch - loads won’t even be aware she’s a previous winner, apart from when the commentator probably mentions it and and I don’t think that will influence a viewer’s decision. I really like the song, amazing vocalist and a wonderful staging but it’s not a certain win as most that watch are just enjoying a fun night and going on one performance.
