30 Really Bad Albums by Great Artists

Since there are a lot of notoriously bad albums made by great artists, I had to apply a simple
rule about which of them to choose. For that I used the rating of the RYM (rateyourmusic) website. It's a website where
    (1) users, not critics, rate albums
    (2) has been online for close to 20 years
(and no, they are not payin' me!)
As a frequent user of this web site, I think that an adequate threshold for
a really bad album is to have a rating under 2.5 out of five (to give you an idea, the ultimate
classic albums have ratings around 4-4.2). Surprisingly this excluded some notoriously
bad albums and left truly the bottom of the barrel.
Anyway, as always feel free to comment and tell me your opinion
about these albums, at least those you have listened to...

    Some substitutes:
Tin Machine - David Bowie (I actually like Tonight)
    Judas Priest - Nostradamus
Rolling Stones - Bridges to Babylon

Lynyrd Skynyrd have a Christmas album that is supposed to be awful.

I like Just Push Play, Dirty Work, and Forbidden alright. Not powerhouses, but there are some gems on there. Same with Cut The Crap and St. Anger, but a lesser extent. Risk isn't even bad, just different.

I don't like anything Aerosmith did after 1993.
Dirty Work is not bad, I agree with you.
Forbidden is a misguided album, more than anything. You don't put Tony Martin to sing in a "modern" metal album.
As for Risk, I agree with you, but metal fans tend to be very conservative, especially with their beloved bands.

@@musiclists-mk3kk Did you check out Music From Another Dimension!. It's got some vintage Aerosmith, particularly Street Jesus.
Also, Honkin' On Bobo slaps cover to cover.

Ok, maybe I’ll give them another listen, although I love heavy Aerosmith, even “Night in the Ruts”, “Rock in a hard place”, so don’t expect much…😅

@musiclists-mk3kk If you don't like Blues or Swing, Honkin' On Bobo probably won't be for you.

@@one_with_kevrything9825 I relistened to "Music...". Not as bad as I expected, they actually play rock in a lot songs🤗. But too many songs imo and these ballads, man😝

Lulu and St. Anger are so so bad, probably the worst from this whole list, which is saying a lot, I have heard the majority of these, maybe a few exceptions.
Van Halen III and Calling All Stations are a special kind of bad, along with Scorpions Eye II Eye, that trend where classic rock bands went 90s pop was a dreadful time 🙄

I have relistened to both albums (Lulu and St. Anger) for making this video, and I agree with you. They have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. They are really THAT bad.

I think Jaded by Aerosmith is a great song and it was a hit for them at the time, don't know about the whole album tho
