Very helpful, and seeing it "happen" makes it easy to see myself using these tips. Thanks again!
Love thinking of the sky, diffusion as a soft box. Not to mention only needing a few pieces of gear so you're ready for almost any location (including empty sandbags in case it's windy).
Great video, Jay!
Genevieve has great expressions. I loved the way you found a hair light in the second setting. Can’t wait to try this.
Fantastic information here! More like this please.
So many great examples and explanations! Thank you!
Fabu! always appreciate TSL!
Back inn2006 David Hobby was handing out timeless information on Strobist, there’s nothing dated about learning to shape light.
Great point. Thanks for sharing!
You got a great haircut!
Did you have a tent and sleeping bag in your trolley as well? 😂 - nice video, very practical 🤛🏻
You couldn't find a more attractive (less dangerous) location to shoot? Or that was your main point: With f/2.8 or long lens with compression, you don't need a nice location? Another photographer in Miami contends Bokeh is "overrated". Shoots at f/5.6, but he's got awesome beaches. California drivers apparently more courteous than I assumed.
great examples as always but why so many pictures not in focus?
They are all in focus
It's because they have very little contrast
Why Lumix camera?
Bokuh vs bokeh
Yeah, we all pronounce it a little differently.
Speedlights don't have enough power for outdoor portraits
You're obviously doing it wrong somewhere. do you know what fill in flash is?
@Zeebad_1st I'm not doing it wrong it's just that I have found that you need at least 100ws and probably closer to 200ws to actually make a difference in exposure on a sunny day
Speedlight working subject in shade That is what he is doing Without shade you are absolutely right
It's....in shade....
Of course a speedlite is good for outdoor portraits, it is used as a fill and in most cases you won’t use it full power
The shots were lacking contrast to me
