Interesting that none of the "special" versions of the T7 or the new TFT are available in the US. Here in the USA it is still a challenge to even get the "standard" Tenere :(

I bought a Tenere 700 back in 2021, it was a nice bike, the engine is a peach. But, it wasn't perfect. I found it too top-heavy, and there were other issues which I never really liked, so I sold it after a year. My advice is to get a demo before you buy one, I couldn't because of lockdown. I know adventure bikes are very popular at the moment, but they're a big, heavy, tall, bike, so ask yourself, do you really need one if you're not going off-road. If not, a road biased bike might be the better option.

An Extreme, but with the standard mudguard - I'm lanky with hard trails out the door... But also in the UK so, Err I can't have one! Not entirely sure I know what goes on with Yamaha UK these days - no dealer within 50 miles of me now and then poor stock. They seem to have given up a bit. Ironically, I can buy a WR/YZ easily nearby, let alone BMW, KTM, Beta, Husqvarna, Gas Gas... Crazy. Also, nice though the T7 is, the price is madness, a total gouge. The standard model should get KYB and be fully loaded for the money.

These guys are missing a trick without cruise control though I must say. I would much prefer the CF Moto 800MT Touring becuase I prefer the styling way more and its got a proper seat, plus cruise control. The Tenere's seat are for people with little bums or those who dont mind sitting on thin strips. lol

Outside of the TFT dash and arguably the fuel, the base T-7 can be kitted out personally to become any of these other variants. I say arguably fuel because while you can't increase the fuel tank, you can either add fuel packs or cans to your bike and keep pushing. I love the T-7 and as time goes, I'm learning to cope with the fact that the WR might not ever be introduced to the NA market.... It's all good. All I need is my base anyway.. 🥹

I would take the Extreme every day of the week as height (196cm) is not issue. Have Manufactures lost the ability to make panniers that fit slimly to the rear? Even though the videos did not show them for behind they look WIDE for such a slim bike (Explorer). The panniers should touch the rear guard and be slim enough not to be a sail. Throw overs are a better option anyway for off road.

One of the reasons why Kove is probably gonna take the market over. No one wants to spend 15k on a bike in a sport that beats up bikes.

I really hope the world raid comes to the USA. With a wider seat, it sounds like a potential option for my trip to Alaska.

7:43 What the hell is the point of a quickshifter on a bike like this? If getting up the road as fast as possible is so important to you, and shaving every fraction of a second off acceleration, maybe you should get a sports bike. I just don't see the logic of it. A maker like Yamaha really should know better.

@Kattrap Nonsense! I've had a Tracer 700 for almost 3 years. How long have you had a CP2 engined bike? I came to it after about 7-8 years on a Bandit 1200, as well as numerous other bikes in 40 years of riding. Even after the Bandit, I don't find the Tracer lacking in performance, especially in the low-mid range, and I've done thousands of miles on it, on all kinds of roads (mainly mountainous/hilly ones, as I live in Wales). And, in line with what I said in my initial reply, if it's top end performance you're after, what the hell are you buying a 689cc twin for? No twin cylinder bike of this size is going to have high top-end power. As regards its “ limited low rev high torque powerband requires a bit more shifting than other engines”, that makes no sense, whatsoever! You just contradicted yourself; why do you need to shift more, to keep it in its “low rev high torque powerband”? In the low to mid range, this engine excels...for its size, it's a very torquey engine so, by definition, you don't need to shift much! It has 50ft/lbs; a Bandit 1200 has 67, and is over 20 kilos heavier, so that shows just how good the CP2 is. You really need to think out what you say, before publishing it.

Quick shifter reduces wear on the transmission and clutch.

To what extent?? If you are changing your clutch and/or chain & sprockets so often, that you feel a need to install a device to reduce that frequency, I'd say you probably need to take a good look at how you change gears...as well as your maintenance! In 40 years of riding all sorts of bikes, I've not once changed anything related to the transmission, and thought "Shit, that didn't last long!". Come on, get real!! 🤣
