Light bar is stupid, what we need is rain sensor. So basic yet its lacking, it probably costs $5, their way of detecting rain simply does not work. Its stupid to constantly mess with the clumsy way of regulating the wipers
yes!!!! the automatic rain detector is just awful. I am always manually engaging them as it never works right with hard down pours and goes on like crazy when it's not even raining.
why doesnt anyone mention having a tesla when not owning a house? I feel like its the most important thing to have if you want a electric car no? Having a house i feel like its almost a must owning an electric car to be able to charge everyday. Not having one is a huge inconvenience. Yet no one talks about it like they are trying to avoid that question. and this is coming from a huge tesla fan!
I agree, I owned an EV for 2 years in a condo and if it weren’t for the super lucky placement of a fast charger across the street I probably would’ve traded back to an ICE car.
I have this sneaking suspicion that higher peak kw charging will only slightly decrease charging times but drastically decrease the lifespan of the batteries especially since Tesla usually goes for smaller battery packs and efficiency over big heavy batteries (which need the extra juice to at all compete in the first place)
Did a cold snowy drive in my 2024 Model Y today. Went from 95%charge down to 17% charger in only 145 miles. Snowy one pedal driving for 2+ hours is a good leg workout. Too sketchy to us cruise control ugh😂
I feel like there definitely will be with the Juniper! The Highland (Model 3 redesign) had significant increases throughout the vehicle, including range. I'm very confident there will be a range increase with the redesign!
@@dabrain22video 340 is good but with battery degradation over time that number falls. Also, why would you not want Tesla to continue to innovate and push the envelope by increasing range? It would be awesome to have more range, it only helps!
a better route planner has brought out the fact that you can recharge in a short time after spending a couple of hours on the road. This is a safety improvement as well, while many would complain they'd like to drive for 18 hours straight. The charge curve is the magic. Drive down to 10% and charge up to 70% (or less) to keep charging time around 15-17 mins.
Better place in Israel had similar idea and they went bankrupt. I would never buy a car which requires a subscription. I want to decide when and how I charge and don't want to be obligated to pay never ending subscription.
If my math is correct, EVgo is spending over $165,000 per DC fast charger. This seems very high... I believe Tesla DC chargers are less than $50,000 per. And they are reliable!
Depends what the limiting factor is. If batteries are what is scarce, then it doesn't make sense to have a percentage of batteries on reserve simply for swaps. For this to be convenient, I would assume that their would need to be a 1.5 to 2x redundancy in batteries numbers to ensure that you get to swap your battery.
battery swaps is a waste soon as thenext round of batteries are made and charging time goes down all the places they build for swapping would be wasted capital and as people learn they wont have range anxienty is 340 miles not enough?
Maybe idea with hot swappable batteries is overkill, but batteries at least should be standardized and have ability to be upgraded. Battery is by far the most underdeveloped part of EV, and we most likely will see great improvements there in next 10+ years. With standardized batteries your current car in 10 years with simple $3-5K upgrade could become 200-300kg lighter with much faster peak charging speed and better charging curve. Also lighter car = better acceleration, better handling and better range.
The BMS, battery management system, for DC fast charging regulates the charging voltage correct? So for older Ys and 3s might it be possible to retrofit it to support 800v instead of 400v? I mean if we are talking about replacing batteries due to increasing competition this might be feasible option in the near future....
Swapping batteries can probably work only for heavy trucks and only along major highways. Basically save 4tons of unnecessary weight... Like roads from ports to warehouses. Even loading battery from above/behind the cabin will be easier than raising the whole vehicle and attaching it from below.
I think it'd make sense for tesla to make the cybercab battery swappable, it would make for a faster turn around which would mean more profit and less cybercabs they would need to build.
Battery swap seems like a good idea now, but if you really think about it…it just does not pan out in time. The pace of battery chemistries is rather fast. The continual development of wireless charging will expand beyond test roads. For a time swapping will seems good, but end up being pointless. Focus on further innovation for chemistries and form factor. Build out more charging stations for now.
You fail to mention that the ET9 has steer by wire system, Active stability control etc. this car is way more than Tesla can offer in all their lineup.
Here is an idea. What if you can have a car that can charge or swap and you have the option of buying the car with a 50kwh battery for driving in the city and charging at home and can swap out for 80Kwh for vacations??
@@dvader3263 Hi thanks for the reply There is the extra cost of 30 kWh (and cost is a big factor in ppl not buying electric), the extra weight (moving 30 kWhs that you don't need uses up allot energy) and if you are charging at home every night adding just what you need for the next day charging cycles don't matter??
I actually think that having a "standard" for an EV battery that makes it swappable could soundly deal with the fear people have about their battery going bad. Right now a big part of the cost of replacing your EV battery is labor. If EVs have a standardized battery that can be quickly swapped by a station or a shop, then a replacement really only boils down to the cost of the pack. Batteries themselves will get cheaper to produce, and again a standard pack will further commoditize them to make a replacement not that big of a deal. certainly far, far more trivial than a gas engine replacement. I would think we'd also get increased safety with the pack as well.
I'm currently inside of my 2024 Tesla Model y performance and guess what...FSD was active but it didn't recognize the red light and literally was about to run it and I had to take over. I use FSD all the time and I must say regardless of the latest update errors like this will never let me trust the car to be fully autonomous
3 min Battery swap Huh? How long will the wait time be before you GET to that 3 min swap? The higher the demand, the longer the lines and then you have to build more expensive stations. But you know, Its seems they have to blow millions before they realize their mistakes.
If the give it 500 mile range, better suspension, and top level performance I will buy another one. Otherwise…. I’ll buy something else. When Tesla sells a 514km MYp it sounds good but one must realize that is best case range. Usable range with a lead foot is 60% at best. That being said, our car has been good with the exception of a main computer swap under warranty. The software for FSD is non existent in Thailand (why would anyone buy a performance car to watch it drive itself? ) superchargers are slow to proliferate. BYD have far out paced Tesla due to apathy.
EVgo's 1.25 Billion dollar loan for 7,500 chargers, that's about 160,000 dollars per charger isn't it? It's nice to see more chargers get out there, but I can't see a future for third party charging companies, unless they can make them cheaper to build. Good luck getting more loans under a Republican presidency!
We've been tempted to go with Rivian, Kia, Volkswagen, Volvo/Polestar. But at the end we keep coming back to Tesla. I do hope they make a bigger version of the Model Y with 6 or 7 seats. The falcon wing doors on the Model X are a turn off, plus my garage is too low. Not an option. Eagerly waiting!
