    I have installed the slide tray in both of my 5th wheels. When installing I used the Risers also, however I put them at the highest level this allowed me a place to store long items such as brooms, racks,flagpoles and my spare pex tubing. Works Great and still have room stacking 2 totes on the tray.

      We did the same on one of ours. The other we placed at the mid height of the riser for access under the tray. We keep the outside doormat, brooms, etc. under it.

    Fantastic episode! We all spend a lot of time and effort undoing design teams' brainstorms. Our bed is over our fresh water tank, and a single-step ladder is not sufficient for my wife, who (like Tara) has a low center of gravity. I tried to talk her into installing a pole-vaulting pit for my entertainment, but she was pretty adamant... She uses a stepladder to somewhat more gracefully ascend to heaven. Our cabinets likewise are not constructed with those of a "low center of gravity" in mind. My wife says that this is clear evidence of a lack of sufficient engineering diversity, and of course, I agree! I'm eager to hear Tara's comment. This could be a pretty good video....

    This kinda off subject to your video but not sure if you have electric/gas option for your camper furnace or if it’s just gas. We just bought a camper and wanted to do a couple upgrades before camping season started in North Dakota. We started our electric heat and stayed warm in there all day, we went in there the second day but it was cold. This has happened twice. Have you ever had this issue before? We have not tried in on gas yet either, thanks

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  ปีที่แล้ว

      We have the heat pump option in our main AC, but it's only effective down to about 45 outside, then the furnace (gas only) kicks in.

    If the screens will help prevent insects from restricting the flow of air by keeping them from making a home in there, why doesn't the manufacturer put them on?? I could never get an answer on this question, none from manufacturers nor TH-camrs.

      Money ! Every thing that is added to the RV cost money. So if you are willing to pay for the add on’s and not complain about the cost of the RV’s go ahead.

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like Tony said... Money is my guess. There are TONS of improvements that can make every aspect of an RV better but they all add to the bottom line.

    • @charlestabarracci7602

    • @murphyslaw907
      @murphyslaw907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the RV manufactures don’t care. People are buying them as fast as they can build them. So why would they want to make them better. The consumer is not pushing the issues, they are just buying them and making the upgrades after the fact.

    My daughter stayed with us last night and she had to sleep on the dinette converted into a bed. The 5th wheel across from us had their lights on the front cap on all night. It shined through the front door of our Airstream Classic. She said it kept her up all night. Who ever comes up with focused can style lights for RVs is going to make a fortune. Those frosted dome lights make so much glare when you sit down and look around in the RV at night. I don't have anything like that in my house. Every RV made has them in spades. Imagine if every ceiling light had a 35 degree dispersion pattern so all you wouldn't see bright blobs all over the ceiling.

    Wonderful video Chad. Thank you for taking the time and effort into making it. We just picked up our 410 from a dealership in Arkansas and finally made it back to North Carolina after a 40 hour round trip drive. Looks like we have the exact same setup. I am trying to figure out what size tray I can put in there. Looks like MorRyde offers a 20 inch by 90-in but I don't see another option. This 20x90 would result in some wasted space. I tried to click on the link in your description to see what size you have but the link to e-trailer is not functioning. Can you tell me what dimensions tray you have?

    TGIS - Thank goodness its Sunday... and another video. Curious if you have had to reboot your OneControl system. On our 2022 397 we start to lose connectivity with the app and must power down the rig, all battery switches to Off, and then remove the negative wire to the control unit. Royal pain and concerned I am going to drop the nut into the "Spaghetti". Thinking about a simple on/off switch so I do have to break out the nut driver each time. Would the switch shown for the cap lights work for this disconnect process? Always great info... Thanks.

    I wonder if there is a way to use a battery-powered remote switch to operate the bathroom vent fan. Any suggestions?

    Another great video. I'm always surprised how relevant your topics are, like the jack popping. Didn't know that's the issue in our 397 until you described it. Now I know what it is, what it's called, and what I need to do to fix it!

    Maybe label your switches, or make a list of changes/improvements. Great presentation.

    Thanks for the info on the cap lights. We feel the same as you, we like the underside lights but cap lights are obnoxious. Plus why not put the switch inside the rug not outside on the front. I’m working on moving ours inside and separating them. 👍

    Chad, thanks so much for mentioning the 90° braided hose!! I bought the gas stop and was very disappointed to find there wasn't enough clearance in my propane compartment to use the gas stop with the hoses and connections I had. I'm calling technoRV to see which hose might work!! Thanks so much!! I run with my fridge on the propane. I know it can be a risk, but so is food poisoning! Lol

    @Changing Lanes so I am having the same issues with popping noise on the jacks. I just got the CAT Hudraulic Oil Additive so do you only need 1QT? Or two of them? Do you need to drain 1AT of the oil from the reservoir?

      Yes.. just one quart did the trick for us... Remove a quart, then add it..

    Thank you for sharing your post.
    They are always enjoyed by my wife and I.
    I have a question re: the MOORE RYDE slide tray.
    We have recently bought a new to us RV. we are starting to add our personal touches.
    Dose Moore Ryde custom make the trays?

    Brilliant work Chad! I love your unbiased, non-sponsored, extremely informative, well throughout, and professionally filmed and edited posts. The two of you obviously take your time to solve these issues and seek out tools, hacks, and products to make life a little bit brighter...ahem.... I mean sweeter.
    Give that cheerful, sweet, amazing, brilliant, and beautiful (not creeping on her.. I'm 110% gay) wife of yours some extra love and attention for me as continues the tough battle.
    Those looking to put dimmers on everything must verify your Amp draw for each of the lights. Most of these small dimmers are 5 amps. I believe this specific dimmer (now sold out) is 5 Amp. Something else to consider when installing wireless devices is the possibility of other items using RF remotes to share the same frequency. This is more common with IR remote devices than RF. For example one set of wireless candles, a space heater, the fireplace, and e
    Edison style IR led bulb all share some frequencies. Adjusting the temperature on the space heater changes the color of the Edison bulbs and turn the fireplace flames off. Selecting the four hour timer setting on the led candles also switched the fireplace timer, dims the Edison bulbs, turns on a timer for a second set of legs candles from 2010 which was not advertised as remote operated nor with functions (I can dim and put them on a timer thanks to the remote for the Dimplex fireplace), and turns the space heater on or off. It's a fun game, requiring both hands, turning the island lights, candles, space heater, and fireplace on or changing their settings. So fun!! Hhaha.
    I pray others follow suit to find their way to turn off their cap lights. Thank you for understanding cap lights can be a real blinking sleepless headache for others. Every unit I've owned with MCD night shades has had the same issue with the night shade ends curling. Without lambrequins, light streams in like thousands of laser pointers. Neither my current or previous DRV Houston are equipped with lambrequins. Yes... please turn off cap lights and scare lights near the neighbors bedroom windows.
    Cheers!

    More kudos for chapter editing and updates! Also, after watching your 397 video on the cargo trays, we got one for our GDRV 341RDS and love, Love, LOVE it!!! RV manufacturers should offer those as optional add-ons...they are GREAT! I needed a bit of a lift to clear the bay opening, but went with a home-brew solution of a strip of 3/4" plywood running all along the tray bottom as a riser. Saved some money over the MorRyde riser option and provided full-length weight support to boot (better than the MorRyde system, perhaps). Can't wait for Internet 4.0. Keep the good info and RV insights rolling!

    Chad thanks for the info on the reading light switches, just put mine in and they are amazing and a great price. Like you said find positive and know the wiring. You always find the good answer to what bugs us RVers. No RV is perfect you upgrade to make it better.

    Great Video. We have been full-time in our solitude 345gkr for almost 2 years. We had already done the gas stop, insect screens, anti stiction fluid (although we may change brands now), and split the cap lights/front storage/underbelly into 3 switches. The Morryde tray is out of our budget right now but we really like the idea. We have been looking for a good option for the bedroom lights. Really dislike the buttons popping up inside the light and the long reach required. We added the wireless switches that you used and we love them. Thanks so much. Love this kind of video.

    I installed the dimmer on the light above our recliners. I know it’s wired correctly because the light powers on. But the switch/dimmer doesn’t work at all. I even te-paired it per instruction. 16:03 Guess I need to call the company. Anyone else have issues?

      As Chad mentioned in another reply on this post, as well as a reviewer on the product's Amazon page, these switches disconnect the negative side of the light circuit (which is opposite of what is done with breaking the positive/hot side of wiring in home lighting). If you have multiple ceiling puck lights that you are trying to tap into, you might be running into a problem with daisy-chained negative/neutral wires that is not allowing the controller to function properly. The bedroom overhead is a simple situation of one wire is positive 12v and a second wire is negative 12v, so it is imperative to follow Chad's instructions of always verifying what color is what polarity in each fixture (as the RV industry does not use any standards for wiring color coding, as are used in a house). Then make sure you understand the controller's functions (kill positive side or kill negative side) to wire appropriately. Lastly, this remote light controller is no longer available on Amazon (as of late July 2023).
