The bullet is too long. It looks like you took the length of the bullet and the cartridge and just made them one piece. The bullet itself should only be about one third of that size for a typical pistol round, such as 9 mm, which is what this bullet appears to be modeled after. That being said, its still a bad ass piece. Well done!
I think gun people are one of the most annoying groups on the internet. When you see someone do something inaccurately you just come to shit on them in the comments but in other communities I see people kindly correcting them/ explaining why it’s wrong. If you actually cared so much about a certain topic then you should try to help other people have a correct understanding of it.

For future reference when designing bullets that have supposedly already been fired, you should just print the cap of the bullet as the casing breaks off once the primer ignites the gunpowder and the casting is ejected out of the gun.
If you look closely, there actually isn’t a casing on the bullet - the projectile is just really long for some reason. Edit: The 6.5 mm Carcano round looks a bit like that
With some minor modifications you could make the coffee blobs be the thing that holds the other pieces and the bullet without the need of wire, for a cleaner look.

Length of that bullet would be significantly shorter than what shown here, if it was modeled after a rifle cartridge, like 308, The bullet would have to be shaped differently in general. While not as egregious as modeling the full cartridge it just looks a bit silly.
it has roughly the same shape as old .45 caliber rifle cartridges minus the flat tip (.45-70, 45-90 etc.) if anything it looks almost exactly like a higher weight (150 grain or so) 30-30 Winchester. both of these are typically found only on lever actions, if I'm not mistaken the tip shape helps with feeding. it also doesn't look like a rimless cartridge either. the model is very much of a bullet, just an unusual/outdated one. it was probably a stylistic choice to have a longer bullet on this sculpture, i do think it follows the lines of the shrapnel pattern better.
Only criticism I have other than what people have already pointed out is that the entry wound wouldn’t look like that, the shards are positioned in the opposite way they should be. Regardless, still an amazing build and I hope to see more

Really awesome piece! I enjoy the shattered pattern you used for the point of entry and exits. However one critique I have is that the bullet should be flattened. Bullets don’t keep their smooth pointed bodies after leaving the barrel. Instead they flatten whenever they hit something. Even hitting a fragile liquid filled mug would change the shape of the bullet. I recommend looking up some slow motion channels to see how the bullet changes as it hits whatever target they’re using, as well as how the different densities of the solids and liquids would change the trajectory as well so it wouldn’t be entering and leaving in a straight line either. Other than that I would absolutely love to see this as an actual mug one day.

In this case the front side would be blown in while the back would be blown out.

I feel like the entry side if the mug wouldn’t be blowing outward like that but I’m not 100% sure. Also the assembly looks really satisfying. You should make mug shot 3D puzzles.
If you could make it like that but with nothing inside the mug so you can drink out of it - have your morning coffee or whatever, I would buy that forsure.
Three things you could do to make this look much better. 1: remove the casing from the bullet. 2: have the other side of the mug (where the bullet entered) caved into the mug rather than out of the mug 3: have a small motor hidden inside the cup attacked to the bullet and spining it ever so slowly.
The bullet head is a bit long and it looks like the cartridge was fired with it too, so if the bullet was shorter it would definitely make it even better

doesnt the casing have a lip around the back end, the bullet doesnt seem to have one so at least to me it just looks like a bullet

That bullet is pretty big, usually bullets are smaller pieces of metal. What you see in a "bullet" is the casing surrounding a bullet.
