@@MF-Rell Because all SFP optics are trash. Why would you want an optic that’s only good at max magnification? Ideally they would put a usual reticle in it.
Until the last few years SFP was what most optics were. Few meaning 10ish, but this is an optic made to be a quick use/run and fun set up. Add a red dot, learn your holds, and you are good to go.
This is almost exactly what I was looking for to put on a new AR. Not too crazy about the reticle but I can live with it. Definitely picking one of these up, don't keep me waiting too long guys.
this is exactly the scope i want for my hunting AR but unfortunately eotech had to make it instead of primary arms so ill never be able to justify the price 😢
Everyone in the comments wanting a true 1x in a do all LPVO should honestly give up on that dream. Physics makes it exceptionally hard so the tradeoffs will always suck. Just use a top dot… it’s better and you can even use it with NV. Drop to your magnified when you need to.
Interesting, Japanese glass in a small unimount form factor. This will fit a nice role, especially for lightweight hunter or DMR setups. Be interesting to see how fast target acquisition at mid to long ranges will be and for what mag setting the SFP reticle will be calibrated for. Hope they come out with a MRAD version.
Actually dope seeing a variable powered optic with an included mount. If you are not someone that prizes 1x then this could be a viable option depending on how much it weighs. DDP dot mounting though……i mean i get it
@eotechinc you guys make great optics but for the category this is in it needs to be more competitively priced. Like, $899 max. The size and weight savings are cool but I can get a decent LPVO for like $500
Did you work with the NC Star boys to come up with this?? Looks goofy and like it would be bent easily. Make the front part of the mount and have the mount also gusset with the back end of the eye opening- kind of like a ACOG. Then use that extra mount area and use a AA battery.
@@kogasoldier9379 na there are alot of optics that are heavier then big optics example is leopolds biggest scope is like 16oz vs a 4x acog being like 2lbs
Wow! Super compact! I was hoping someone would come out with smaller magnified optics soon. Wish you had given a preview of what it looks like to look through it, but meh. I got a 3-12x honker on my AR10 that I got for $80, but this would make me reconsider my "Do not spend a thousand bucks for an optic" cheapskate rule.
I'm definitely going to wait till I hear reviews as it is a nifty size and weight, but I'm worried about the things that had to be given up to achieve it. Would be nice to see other reticle options at minimum. An FFP option down the line with modified versions of the the SR2 or SR3 reticle would be nice should it be a good performer.
Pretty cool, kinda like an upscale bugbuster. Tbh for pushing the $1k price point I'd prefer to see lockable turrets over capped. Not sure what constraints on magnification range exist with shrinking down the OAL, but something like a 2-8 might have been more appropriate since straight wall hunting (lever guns, 450 BM and 350L MSRs) seems to be the wheelhouse for a compact, magnified optic like this.
@@Gnolomwebhave you not used any lpvo? They all have mil reticles and are extremely useful and are all lower mag than 9x. 9x can definitely benefit from some decent mil reticles especially at range.
Make it in mils and cut the cost by at least 40% and then you'll be onto something. As it stands, I'd rather have a traditional size 3-9 scope that's already available and much more affordable.
Oh cool, a 3-9 sfp with capped windage and elevation, illumination with off positions between brightness settings, and an integrated mount. Looks like eotech is trying to give ar15s more a hunting rifle vibe. $1050, ok nevermind

Yes, it does. Not that the concept is bad.
I hope CDOES has a review on this ASAP.
Agreed
For the low low price of $1,500
Other factors aside, it is awesome how compact that is for a 3-9.
PERFECT! Once everyone gets educated on why SFP is far superior for something like this EOTECH will sell tons. I do wish there was a MIL option.
