My favourite basketball announcer growing up in the 90’s and early 2000’s .. Just positive dude. Never really had the privilege to watch him play, but he was great when he was healthy and could easily been among best bigs to ever play.
Childhood hero growing up here in Portland, Oregon. It is really cool to hear all of these incredible stories. A real legend, amazing man, Rest in Peace Bill.
I remember a game the Blazers played against the Celtics, I think in 1978 during their 50 and 10 run where Walton totally dominated but only scoring three points and the Blazers won by 30+. The Blazers were a TEAM.
@@yourroyalhighness7662 Bill Walton SWEPT Kareem in the 1977 Western Conference Finals and won the NBA title also winning MVP. So, with respect, Walton was better that year. In 1978 Walton was the NBA MVP. Meaning he was better that year as well. But to help your argument, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the greatest center of all time. Just not in 1977 and 1978.
There's a video out there of an interview with Steve Jones who played with Bill during the 75-76 season and was an NBC Analyst for years after. He sat down with Bill and told him, if you want to be a great NBA player, you've got to start eating meat. Bill was a vegetarian at the time and Steve had convinced him to start eating meat for protein. I guess it worked because he came back stronger than ever, and the Blazers won the championship the next year and were 50-10 in 77-78 before he was injured, again. That was the year that the Sonics won the championship.
I will add data to backup Mr. Hart about Mr. Walton's accessibility. A friend of mine ran into Mr. Walton in the late 1980s in San Diego. He chatted with my friend for a fair amount of time, much more than a "nice to meet you".
I enjoyed it all. I can't figure out which Grateful Dead song is playing when discussing going to the Celtics. Anyone? I've tried to figure it out, & apologize for this query placed here. Thanks.
It might be Neil Young? It's also playing in Part 1 (which I just saw, & saw last), when his wife Lori says "this is the Neil Young room". Instrumental, short, choppy elec guitar strumming. One of the only songs in all 4 parts that is repeated. Anyone?
Toronto Blue Jays. Played in their farm system while in college. Very good 3rd baseman. Red Auerbach was astute to pitch him to sign wit the Celtics while Danny was hitting .220.

Dwight Howard never leaned how to play basketball. It is too bad that Dwight didn't go to college. The other thing is that Dwight was not possessed to win. He also never developed an all around offensive game.
Walton was so athletic and a force. Compare his athleticism to Jokic. Bill was an incredible force on defense. Jokic is g horrible on defense. Great on offense. There is also a video on the series were he dribbles full court. He could really dribble.
Rest in Peace Bill. You brought us so much enjoyment.
My daughter and i met Bill Walton at a Grateful Dead show in Arizona. Great guy 💯%

Bill Walton was actually a lot better than most people thought he was. This guy was amazing.

In 1977 & 1978 Bill Walton was THE best basketball player on the planet.

My favorite 30/30 of em all,the only dissapointing part of watching is when it ended,i coulda watched another 3 hours.
The greatest center who ever lived when healthy. He invented the Point Center. Won 88 straight games when healthy
Bill Walton is great
Bill Walton is an American Treasure.
Lenny Wilkens isn't so bad either!
And he is so appreciative of his teammates and other stars. Past and present.

Best voice for arizona cardinals
Bill Walton, Duncan and Wilt are the most from the raider players in history
i love it when he's broadcasting the game; and says something like worst pass in the history of the NBA !
Maybe put "Bill Walton" in the title?
Maybe get yourself the mental counseling you so OBVIOUSLY NEED
Nothing about the stint with Boston tho?
