That's some mighty big children there think I know the reason why she's complaining she's probably still hurting from the childbirth. They probably came out of the womb vaping. I would not consider them to be children I consider them to be adults although they act like children including the mother. This video really gives an example of how misinformed people are about drones and what you can and what you can't do.
Funniest and most accurate thing you've ever said Coshatt. 🤣
Lol. 😂🤣
Much worse stuff going on in those public parks than drone flying.
Kid? I thought it was a 40 yr old dude. lol
It’s partially jealousy. People think drones are expensive. They see you flying it and will start copying what they saw on a Facebook video.
As a part 107 certified pilot and Sheriff's deputy., I would love to respond to this type of call and set these people straight about drone laws.
We need more like you!
@@kenheron I I live in Florida too. in Florida deputies have never harassed me and neither has the police department. I fly sometimes on my front sidewalk for testing a new drone before I get it in the air. in my area I am allowed to fly 100 ft and that's my limit unless I had West. I can go higher here is the thing be safe everything to your best of your knowledge. things happen this is the reason when I get a new drone or my RC helicopters. I test it low leve.l it's better to lose it at a low level and it is to have it be at high level, I have been in this hobby since 1980 and I am 64 years old and I like my sheriff department. and my Police department. they do not harass people for having fun at this time so let me give a little vice by being an old-timer in a hobbyist at everything from helicopters to airplanes to drones the quadcopters to race cars the boats I've been in this hobby a lot longer and 99.9% of most of you be safe use responsibility and check your stuff before you climb high my opinion but have great fun and things will be good.
Playing Devils advocate without seeing the footage on the drone you can’t say that. I assume there is a law against filming a cleanup on space especially when they’re sunbathing and the only way to tell who is lying here is by looking at the footage.
And in this particular case in the video, you would likely find that the lady was just upset because she was out her $2 fee because the buzzsaw-like drone noise felled the clients' timber or something like that.
@@BehonestBestitchedup There isn't. It's been in court time and time again. if you can see it from public you can film it.
It's a $10K fine and a federal offense to interfere with a pilot operating an aircraft. When we get disturbed by these types while flying we need to call authorities and file complaints with the FAA on them.
Nothing will happen, same as how nothing ever happens about me not registering and also flying beyond line of sight.
I had the cops called on me for flying over a bar. Yesterday. Embarrassing as hell.
drone pilots are not safe anymore situation awareness is made on the before you fly app. The cops should have to show up. They should have to be there and witness just because if they don’t hear they come talking about you were looking through a fucking window at 111 m high at 10 foot and you got court now your summons to court your harassing, fuck that I didn’t do nothing wrong. I’m sick of this town and all liars that swearing under oath
@skiesofthesouthwest wow people are unbelievable
Don't go into public if you don't want to be recorded. There is no expectation of privacy in public.
Actually there is... but it's very limited. Even out in public there are a few things you can't record because they're considered private:
1 - Under your clothes. So no upskirt shots
2 - Your car. Inside your car is private. So don't record people sitting in their cars. Make them exit their cars before you record.
3 - Bags. You can't record the content of their bags. Hand bags, wallets, backpacks etc. The inside of those items are private even if they're in public.
@@ChristianLanctot yeah not true. I can walk up and record inside cars all I want. I can record license plates and all. There is no privacy and it doesn't need to be stated that you can't record under someone's skirt lol.
@@kitten-whisperer Actually, you're wrong. There have been several court cases regarding privacy rights and the courts have all concluded that the inside of your car is private.
Recording a license plate is fine, that's outside.
The trick here, legally speaking, is "reasonable expectancy of privacy". And yes, when you're inside your car, there's a reasonable expectancy of privacy.
Try to record inside my car without my consent, I'll have you up on criminal charges. Yup, this whole privacy thing, it's in the Canadian Criminal code. A federal statute! That means... anywhere and everywhere in Canada!
@@ChristianLanctot I'm not in canada. I assumed this was regarding laws in the states. Here in the states, I can 100% legally record you while you're in your house as long as I'm not on your property. Hell, if I wanted I could record a bunch of kids so long as I'm on public property.
@@ChristianLanctot That’s Canada, here in America you can record inside any car you wish that’s in public
We were out flying FPVs around a disused public quarry when some dozy bint came over with her dog saying the drones were scaring her dog. She said she could hear the drones from her house a couple of hundred metres away. "So you heard the drones, and still brought your dog over? Jog on you absolute weapon"
Funny how simple logic eludes these idiots.
Did she have a dog...license 😉
99% of my experience with dog owners has been, them saying how awesome my flying thing is for giving their dog some exercise without them needing to throw a tennis ball for half an hour. But that 1% that made a fuss ran across the park screaming that I was murdering her pet. I figured no logic was ever going to win that argument.
I had to look up dozy and bint! Hilarious terms.🤣
@@censrd Exactly this for me too! I like playing with dogs and if the owners are cool with it I will. Makes for some really cool action footage too!
"I don't care if it's a public park, you can't watch us"
Does he not know what public means? Or does he not understand that, once you step out of your house, you have no guarantee to privacy?
😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣
I am betting there is a whole lot those morons dont understand!
Just cannot film at Walmart
No... no they don't understand this. 90% of these kind of people have absolutely zero understanding of what right to privacy means. It doesn't mean you can demand privacy anywhere. It just makes me furious when people like this show up. They have NO clue.
I think he handled it great! He was knowledgeable, professional & Informational. 👏👏👍🏼👍🏼
No expectations of privacy in PUBLIC spaces.
Got my first real drone, a Mavic Air 2, and took it to my park, vibing on a bridge. Being a minor, everyone either didn’t care or figured I was innocent. A few guys were ever curious, just wandering what I was up to, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first public flight. Then we have this for the other side of the spectrum, and I’m just baffled!
It was the exact same way for me, same drone too.
99% percent of flights are like that, as long as you aren't being an asshat. Someday you might have a weird interaction, but it is pretty uncommon.
I was flying with my Mavic Mini and a cop came to me and said:"what are you doing?"
I was to scared to answer and said:"I'm playing Pokèmon Go." 😂
@@nicholasward same
Most people are just curious but nice, just rule of thumb Dont fly low and close and get off to yourself anyway when possible and all is great
The cellphones in each others faces is more invasive than a drone 100+ feet up
I want to know what the result was. They called the police, and "filed a report" ... but no laws were broken. Were they then cited for "filing a false report"? Did the police even show up?
If the cops did show up and asked each side for the story, they'd figure out if a law was broken. If no laws were broken they probably told the "vapors" no laws were broken and Darin Faires has the right to fly at the public park. If this did happen, I am 100% sure the "Vaping Karens" gave the cops an earful of ignorant whatevers.
I am a licensed drone operator here in the U.K. and the very same thing happened to me, I was filming on a public green. And guess what there was no one on the green except a single Karen, no children either.
The police turned up too, …🤔
I had one challenge me she said : "I'll call the cops!", I replied : "Go right ahead"! She didn't. So I landed my drone in my hand. Pulled my phone out of the controller and then told her: "I'm calling the cops!" I filed a harassment complaint against her once I got her license plate when she was leaving once she found out I was indeed talking to a cop on the phone.
So funny. Everyone has their phones out recording but they are worried about the drone.
RIGHT?!!
Licensed drone pilot in Canada. Sad truth is I try to avoid this at all costs! I'd rather to bring my drone to a low hover whenever I find I have onlookers. Kinda ruins my vibe, but I really don't wanna deal with the "igno-rants"
It's great the guy recorded this.
I was filming a hyper lapse of the motorway here in Wales & a Karen was on Facebook saying there is a drone in the sky filming her kids in the garden.
It was 9pm, dark & I was at max hight.
I posted her the video I made
She wishes you were filming her kids.
"It's full of children and you're taking photos of children"-yeah, I've had that one. I took a single photo of a historic building for its architecture with an 18mm lens from 200m away, and they think I'm zoomed in on children that _aren't even there._
Happens all of the time while I do real estate, construction monitoring, roof inspections. I got chased off by a client that hired me to do a roof inspection - that’s right the person who hired me threatened to call the cops……let that sink in.
How the heck did the client not understand what was going on??
@@BirdzEyeViewAV yeah - whole lotta crazy out there.
@@paulroyle-grimes That's the truth!

The sentence you just typed is already like 3 grade levels above these peoples vocabulary. And when dumb people get confused they just get more angry so I get your point but I don't think it would help.
@@pyro3rg you said a mouthful there. There's nothing to be had by long conversations with idiots.
Which even then wouldn't make any sense unless he was literally directly over them. I mean, god these people don't even have 2 neurons to rub together.
you cant explain to people like them. they feed on hate and cruelty. if anything it might anger them to attack or call police and lie.
Gotta love that just because you have a drone your up to nefarious deeds.
They were probably smoking meth and saw the drone and got paranoid
@@donniemarks94 oh shit.... now I gotta rewatch :-P
It's funny to me that people always assume that any drone they see is watching them and the ones most vocal about it are the type your likely to see on the Jerry springer show .

My good man I came for this comment, that’s typically where the debate starts in my area as well 😂😂
Had to share. Thx for that one Ken.
Had something similar happen to me at an actual RC park of all places. Once I explained where we were and what kind of park it was, they got really quite.. 🤣

Handled very well. Calm and professional. Most people here in Canada have some questions and I usually have another person to step in and field questions. If I'm by myself, I''ll advise them
that questions will be answered once my aircraft is safe on the ground.
Flying in Canada, many city parks are off limits for any RC controlled aircraft, drones or RC trucks/cars. Mostly referencing taking off and landing. Check the city bylaws online prior to arriving to any city or town parks.
I think this has less to do with the ignorance of people, and more to do with how people are being trained to be paranoid by their chosen form of information acquisition.
I live in Thailand, and the locals never give my drone more than a passing glance. The one confrontation I had was with a very agressive western tourist who knew nothing about drone law in Thailand (but just assumed it was illegal) and rained his fear and hate upon me.
I think it's also weirdly egotistical. Like clearly this guy is flying his drone here to spy on ME and MY kids because we are so special. It's an empty park, he could fly this down a major street hidden from view and never be confronted, but he came here to record us because we are worthy of that. People need to get a grip with reality.
@@pyro3rg yeah how tf do they think that anybody is wanting to spying on their lame ass
I had someone asked me can you see people inside their house? 😆🤣 had to educate them.
I live in a rural area and expected people to be drone Karens when I started droning but was I surprised, every one seems to love it. I get people who are curious and ask a ton of questions but it's based off of pure interest not paranoia. Fingers crossed people keep that upbeat attitude about drones here
I had a person drive around town to get to the park I was flying at because he saw my drone from his side of the woods between the park and his house. Of course he said I was flying over his house. Then threaten to shot my drone and "all of my drone flying friends" drones out of the sky. I just apologized to try and defuse the situation. I told my local police and told them about it. I was told "We know who he is The guys a asshole. If he ever comes down here again give me a call I'll be right down. Then he pulls out his card and gives me his personal number to call. Oh the funny thing is I am all my drone friends. Lol I just fly many different drones. Oh side note. Before this happened, I've had that policeman watch me fly and talk about drones after for about a hour. Then hooked him up with a nice used DJI.
🤣 ROFL 🤣 that's a funny story too.
You gave him a DJI? He hit the jackpot.
I do a lot of real estate photography, and I get a version of this confrontation at least once or twice a year.
Well there you go. That is exactly the same game that my neighbor tried playing. Wow.
That's where I'd tell the Karen's what they want to hear while not complying. And just drone on
Look this type of reaction is extremely common for any man holding ANY camera. Whether you are using a drone, or if you are a Pro Photographer, a Pro Videographer, or even simply using your smart phone. When any man is using any device which has any camera he can and eventually will be approached by people like this. And here's what you need to know. [1] Be prepared to call 911, [2] make sure to capture license plate numbers for later ID, [3] record every moment of the interaction and try to avoid provoking them, [4] de-escalate if possible, [5] make absolutely sure that you are not in violation of anything for instance empty beer cans in your car or whatever, [6] KNOW WHO THE LAWYERS ARE AND HAVE THEIR PHONE NUMBERS HANDY before this drama can happen ... you need this in advance. [7] Document the attack, and the final step is to follow up by SUING them. And you really do need to sue because believe me there are cases where innocent people get railroaded and wind up in prison and that is NOT an exaggeration. It needs to be treated as an assault, and a false accusation. This is criminal slander. And when you are slandered in this specific way ... they need to GO TO JAIL. DOCUMENT IT AND CALL THE LAWYER.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're mad because they're committing crimes and don't want their faces to be captured.
I’ve been fortunate to not encounter many problems why flying but I definitely have just performing regular photography, setting up a tripod from a public place to take a picture of a building. More than once I have had security come and tell me I can’t take pictures of this building. My response was “well, unless you plan on throwing a tarp over it, it’s here for all to see” It’s always been the under trained security guard for me, when the actual police officer shows up, he just tells the security guard to move on. 🤷🏼♂️
he should have waited for the police. It's probably illegal for minor to smoke/vape, particularly in a public park. Then the minor would have been cited or ticket.
I cant understand ignorant people and then on top of it wanting to argue about their ignorance. Great video and loves your drone content man keep up the good work
Thanks!
WHen people ask -- I just show them the video. Usually when they see that you've got a camera that is 100 feet up and 400 feet away -- there is no detail that you can see on the drone camera. Its not the SUPER SPY CAMERA that people think they are.
I’m actually taking a break from my Part 107 renewal review to watch this 😄
@3.52 you can literally see the steam come out of his ear, first time ive seen that. LOL
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so
Oh boy! I also live in Spokane and hope I don’t run into these people anytime soon. People always assume if they see a drone that it means it’s looking at them.
Things like this are why I sadly will usually not take my kids with me on jobs or recreational/practice flights and why I’m always armed when I do fly.
If your logic is true. I’ll never win an argument because all I do is cuss lol
🤣
That woman seems insane and rude.
Both clearly shown by the fine young man she is raising.
The woman was wrong, but this was bad public relations for the hobby.
NO! the children were amazed and just like to see the drone on the air.
"I feel threatened so by law I could fight you" 🤣
Holy son of a biscuit eater, I can feel the pain of trying to communicate with these animals.
Oh wow. Haha, this is your classic 711 family meal night at the local park. 😋
Spokane! What park? Let's have a drone party at that park. I will make the drive from Tri-cities for this kinda fun. This is why I carry business cards that say "Please feel free to Google FAA, Title 14, Chapter I, Subchapter F, Part 107" with my name and phone number on it too. Had one guy tell me he was gonna shoot my drone down, all I could say is "well that's not smart that's a federal crime to shot an aircraft. Can I get your name so I can tell the FAA why my drone crashed"
I would bet they were using some snort of substance in the park and did not want to be on video.
Why even engage with the Addams family 😆😆😆🤣
Loved the part where it went from "You're flying over my children" to
"There's nobody here. Why are flying here ?"
Also: Why is it ALWAYS the People you definitely don't want pictures of,
that think you're photographing them ?
🤣🤣🤣 Yuuup.
It's so great on so many levels !!!
Many times when I've been out, flying parents bring their kids up to see what I'm doing and the kids are just fascinated with it. A course I always show them the footage from the camera. They think it is the greatest thing ever.
Doing it for the children. That's what it's all about.
I love when people run up to you screaming stop recording me 🤣🤣🤣🙄🤣 if I wasn't filming you before I definitely am now 😜😜
YUUUP.
Once a older lady told me she thought my drone should be illegal. When I asked why, she thought for a minute and said, Just Because!
Yes indeed!
Sad thing is, they’re going to spread rumors to their friends about how drones suck and are infringing on privacy. I wonder if it is against the law for the kid to threaten Darin (?) and if it’s destruction of property if he did break his drone. Keep calm and fly on.
Liberty can die over a few generations. Tell such people to make a law controlling something they don't like and someone else will make more laws, and soon you have less freedoms. Oh wait!
Many people have an ego that extends around & above them into the entire universe. They believe that anything that might hear them is listening to them, & anything that might see them is looking at them. They think they really matter but they really don't that much.
@4:28 that person actually said " technically by law I can fight you" 🤣😂🤣
They haven't even seen the Drone up close. It would be even more funny if the Drone didn't have a camera 🤣
You don’t put your drone in your pocket or in your mouth like that vape pen either. lol
Ok so they seem a bit paranoid, bet they have a trunk load of bad stuff
She's just pissed off that her husband finished of the big bag of pork rids...lol
Did the "child" say "technically by law I can fight you"? 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah. I was thinking" technically, but not in real life."
Before I even got my first drone my neighbor thought drones were looking in her window. She called us on night and said see that blinking light up in the air? It was a plane overhead. Folks, especially ignorant ones, have some weird ideas about drones. I am just waiting for the day she accuses us now that my wife and I both have one.

If they don't like being recorded, they don't have to be at the park.
My local Karen called both the city police (while not in the city) and the county sheriff. (both loved seeing the video from the drone)
Drone Karen's broke my spirit. Lol. Every 3rd time I flew I had a Karen and many of them became violent. So I took a break and haven't flown in over a year. I'm planning to go hit it again this summer. I have no idea how I'm going to mentally prepare myself for it. There has got to be a stream-lined process in which to deal with them successfully and safely.
Thanx
Marc :)
Find a FAA-approved FRIAS area to start.
One thing that has worked for me so far, as soon as anyone starts walking towards me while my drone is in the air.
My first words are something along the lines of "Hey, wanna see this cool view?", it normally puts them on the back foot. So then I shove me screen in their face, and they see the distance view and just shut up.
A lot of encounters like that can be prevented by preempting their angry questions/statements with a friendly offer of them to have a look at how great the view of the area via the drone is.
And if I've already landed, I pull up the pictures and offer for them to have a look. Plus then I get to advertise my Facebook page and ask them to become a follower.
Karen would think we pilots are so miserable with our thousands dollars drone that we have to find excitement on filming weird ass people vaping 🤣
See kids vaping can make you paranoid. 😂
The arrogance of those people thinking he would even want to film the top of their heads with his drone
