Just when people are talking shit about her voice, she goes and shows off that she can still tear it up and improvise like no one else can. Sleeping less than 5 hours speding most of the time recording,etc. all of this had affected her voice. But she can still sing. What she needs to to quit bad habits. proper rest and constant practice to have consistency in her voice once again.
Mariah said on Ellen that she was suffering from Bronchitis and was sucking on a lozenge during this concert. She's suffering from throat inflammation. I think she's also pissed everyone keeps saying she's lipping, so she going the extra mile to prove that she's not.
So I've been going back and forth about this concert. It's possible that she's finally completely over doing these songs the same way every time for 25 years. Another possibility is that she saw early on that the concert was having *ahem* technical difficulties, and instead of just wishing you could disappear through the floor or cuss the tech people out, she just acted silly and kept her spirits up and got through the show. Especially since she pretty much just walked off the stage during We Belong Together like she couldn't take another minute of it. So that's my theory.
Christine Donley The reason she ran off for the end of we belong together is her ear monitor fell out and that is the only part of that song that she lips and she tried so hard that whole concert to prove her vocals so it would be really horrible to end the final notes of the concert with a lip-synch fail.
