I met Dr. Now a couple of months ago while I was in town for cancer treatment at MD Anderson. My wife watches the show and went all fan girl when she found out that you can go to his office and get souvenirs lol. When we were there, the front desk asked if we would like to meet him, and honestly he is really a super nice guy!
a fitted sheet is the last thing that should be triggering anyone lmao imagine how long its been since that sheet has been changed.Sheet prolly hasnt been changed in 3 years.
This is true. Watched an autopsy documentary where the deceased had been obese, and apparently not long after you pass away, the fat in your body migrates out of your pores and produces 'fat globules'. It was something I never knew was a thing.
OMG, i was curious as to how an overly obese person get cremated what would happen, but that just blows my mind yet doesn't surprise me at the same time... Thanks for that info!
I feel bad for these dietitians and personal trainers, people are so rude to them for trying to do their job. Just because they are angry at themselves, they treat others so cruelly.
This pisses me off to no end. So many of these people ask for help and say they will do whatever it takes to lose the weight, and then they yell and treat everyone who's trying to help them like shit. For those who do actually stick to the regiment bravo! But people like this are just wasting the time of a professional who could be helping someone else who actually wants to be helped. 🤦
I've only ever been rude to one dietrician, and that was my first one. I was maybe... 11 at that time I think, though I wasn't at any weight like some of the people in the show have said they were at when 11. I wasn't even really overweight, I was just a little bit above the projection line of that.... projected height/weight chart thing they have when you're a child. At the time, I ate a lot of candy, chocolate mainly. Maybe 3-4 200 gram bars per week. This lady just came down with a hammer, and even my mom thought she was unreasonable. The lady said "No more than 100 grams per week". I just stopped listening to her then (which is the rude part on my end). That was our only meeting with her 😅
@@Southern_Made awesome! I hope that works for you!! I’ve been eating less carbs, calorie deficit & I try to walk at least 7750 steps a day. I’m hoping to lose another 50-60 pounds before the year is over. 💪🏽
@@Weeshweightlosswow you’re doing great. I’m cheating with Mounjaro but changing my lifestyle because I don’t want to be on it for much longer. I’m down 60 pounds and my mobility and pain are much better so I started exercising.
Oh god. That shuffle of the guy on oxygen, carrying two whole pizzas, an entire bag of doritos, and two sodas. I'm just...god. I had a visceral reaction to that.
As someone who weighed 230 lbs at the highest [I am a small girl (5’3”) This weight was morbidly obese for me]. I can tell your mood and emotions are all over the place, even walking feels like a task. Your cholesterol, blood sugar and uric acid are the higher sides. You are miserable when you weigh that much. Over a year I lost weight and am around 147 lbs. I can tell you with confidence, loosing weight is the best thing. I never cared much about how people saw me, but just being able to walk 10k steps in a day and not have my feet hurt to the point of me crying, having more energy. It is so bloody worth it. Do it for yourself! You are worth it :)
If you don’t mind answering. How much lose skin did you end up having after the weight loss. I’m at about 240 and I’m 5’0 and I’ve been working on losing weight but I’m also so scared of what my body will look like.
@@madisonmuennich8143 at my heaviest I was ~220 at 5’3. I’m now down to 155 and the only “loose” skin left is my bellybutton area but it takes more work to get rid of that. I was also worried about skin when I started but it worked out pretty well. I will say it also depends how old you are but if you have the motivation you can do it and reach your goals
Hey, I share the same journey with you. I'm a bit over 4'11" (almost 5ft) and used to be 200 lbs. You're right, it's scary for people our height to be that heavy. I had diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, and osteoarthritis. It took me about 2 years to slowly lose weight, and now I'm 110 lbs. I've never felt better! I can now travel, help with house chores, and walk my dogs! It's amazing that you can do 10k! I'm still so weak and unfit that I can't do sports or run or anything. So I can only do simple exercises and diets. I really wish I could get into sports one day.
@@madisonmuennich8143 hey, I ended up having some around my tummy and thighs, I always had cellulite, so it makes it look worse. But trust me, loose skin looks better than all that weight and it feels better too. I was just like you, I used to TH-cam weight loss before and after because I was scared of loose skin. But loose skin can be fixed surgically. I haven’t had any surgery. I can wear a bikini, and people won’t realise I had extreme weight loss, the appearance isn’t that bad. I won’t look like a supermodel, but most people don’t. Have realistic goals and give your body grace. It does a lot for you. The best natural solutions for loose skin and reducing its appearance are dry brushing, eating all your vitamins and drinking water. I still have 10-15 pounds to loose, after that maybe if the appearance is unnatural, I may consider surgery after weighing the pros and cons.

I have seen the whole episode on this woman she is absolutely nuts and she was given so much help and all she wanted to do is treat people like crap and do what she wanted . RIP poor Randy .
I truly feel sorry for her. Unfortunately for people like this it's often way too late. She needed a therapist who specialized in trauma a long time ago. 😢
like even before i got some food GI issues causing aversion, that breakfast would be equal to a lot of meals or small snacks for me. after my issue i think id have to throw that food away cus it would get bad or stale by the days it took me to stomach the food.
She has cellulitis on her legs. Lack of circulation causes infection and leads to those blisters.antibiotics wont help because her circulation is so bad, it won't reach the infected tissue.
I feel bad because I was thinking "is that mold?" And yes, mold can grow on living people, if your skin has too much moisture. So it's not something I made up 😅
Yes he did from covid , i was looking if she was still alive, but she basically quite the show after loosing 80lb But there is another lisa that did pass
It actually surprised me how much Ken got right explaining how the addiction distracts someone as a relief. I remember my therapist once said that people get into cutting because it's a way for the brain to focus on more important physical pain than psychological pain
Cutting has a few different aspects to it, as you say, it can be a distraction from the mental pain because the body prioritises physical pain. It also externalises it, makes the psychological pain feel more real and grounded. A lot of people who sh feel numb or empty or like they have no control over their life, and physical pain is the only feeling they can control. Or they feel guilty/shameful, and it's a form of punishing themselves. On a neurological level, physical pain releases endorphins (literally endogenous _morphine_ ), the reward system can become dysfunctional and release dopamine which increases reward anticipation during sh, serotonin (along with other chemicals and neurotransmitters). The HPA axis can become desensitised and then requires more frequent and more painful stimulus for the expected reward, and then so the person can become addicted. Hope that makes sense
As a former cutter with severe depressive disorder, my experience was that the physical pain was easier for me to deal with than the mental pain. I could focus on it and control the situation when my world felt out of control.
I used to SH. Honestly it made the pain so much more real and gave me control over it. It gave me more control than I ever had during that time in my life.
Speaking as a healthcare provider, the first rule is "you can't help someone who's not going to help themselves." I see people for a full hour at a time... that's a fraction of their week. The stuff they do when not in my care can absolutely decimate the work I do to help them, but I give them all the tools they need to succeed. I have some clients that take half as long to heal because they put in the work doing stretches and strengthening I've recommended.... and I have people that may be in my care as long as they can afford it because they won't take any steps for themselves. I feel Dr. Now has probably reached the point of "Why should I help you when 1) you're going to undo the work I've done, and 2) there are others who could use my assistance"
Healthcare provider too! There's nothing I hate more than a wasted effort on someone who doesn't want to help themselves while there's whole bunch of other people out there that are more deserving :-(
gaining/losing a large amount weight because you don’t want anyone to find you attractive to protect yourself is so heartbreaking. i’ve heard similar stories from many women :(
I have a friend who is overweight. Not obese, but definitely chubby. At one point in her life she made an effort to have a healthier life style and lost a lot of weight. That's when she started to get hit on by men who wouldn't lay eyes on her before... She was so disgusted by this behaviour that she purposefully gained all her weight back just to be left alone!!
She's so angry because Dr now won't give her surgery to make her a size 8 in one go, therefore she's projecting her anger onto those trying to help because of her naivety in thinking she can be fixed over night. She didn't want to be told that being this way was preventable thus can't take any accountibilty for being in such a state. We see it all too often and not just in those who are over weight but anyone that has to take accountibilty for anything when they're so one track minded. You can't help people that can't be humbled and you definitely can't help people that don't want the journey to help they just want the magic wand to be waved and everything and every bad choice they made to be whisked away.... What a shock
Yeah those people are living in the wrong reality... and the rest of us still have to deal with them and hear the complaining 🙄 life is what you make it... hard or easy thats you choice no one elses fault
Its all about balance, too much of anything is not good. Also some people might be FODMAP. So its important to test for these things before making a diet plan for someone
No Dr. Now was literally one of the pioneers of weight loss surgery for people who are 600+. It used to be impossible to operate on ppl that size. That’s why the show is centered around him. For a hot minute he literally was it for ppl that size.
You know, I think the family thing is never really about genetics, but about the culture of eating in that family. People may say genetics, and maybe they believe it, but the real reason everyone in a family is fat is because the whole family eats like that. It makes the mental aspect of dieting that much harder, because eating like that is something ingrained from childhood. Like Ken said, the mental aspect is the hard part.
I agree. My son was raised by his stepmom who has a um large family. One day I wanted to make a recipe from "home" for him and I didn't have to wonder why they were so large anymore.
I think there also is a genetic aspect but not the type of genetics they are thinking of. Genetics can effect stuff relating to hunger and predisposition to addiction, but most of the people who say it's genetics don't actually understand what the genetics are doing and if they did probably wouldn't do anything to help with the genetic differences.
THANK YOU about the fruit thing! "Never knew someone getting fat off bananas " I love that. Drives me up the wall when people freak about fruit as they sip their adult milkshake from starbucks!
@@yomokogirl2074 yeah I knew that and it makes sense. Still. I've had friends tell me that instead of "eat fruit instead of sweets" its just, no drop the fruit as they keep having all the processed sugar you can eat or drink. Like _seriously_ !? You're a nurse in training what are you on!? That experience was a few years after the start of college :/
@@yomokogirl2074Except things like cookies usually contain fat as well as sugar thanks to the butter, and thus are high calorie. No one is saying fruits don't contain sugar. But the difference between candy and fruits is that fruits are usually far more filling for their caloric intake. The opposite way peanut butter is not very satiating for its caloric intake, you can have a small amount of peanut butter and gain a load of calories and you're still starving. Meanwhile you can usually have a small amount of fruit and gain barely any calories and become satiated. And as you say, nobody has a diet solely consisting of fruit - so these people you mention who trade cookies and candy for apples and bananas must be bulking their calories up elsewhere - because no one eats solely fruits. There is also more to nutrition than just sugar. Eating fruits over candy and cookies isn't just about getting the "good" kind of sugar - it's about the fibre, the actual nutrition side of it, you know, vitamins, minerals, which you won't find in candy or cookies. You can eat a varied diet, you can be obese, whatever, and you can still suffer from malnutrition because you aren't consuming any nutrients. Just calories.
@@yomokogirl2074To add on, candy sugar and fruit sugar _are_ processed differently. I don't know who told you they aren't. While candy sugar often contains both glucose _and_ fructose (from sucrose), they're primarily glucose which causes a quick spike in blood pressure, which then also rapidly drops. The rapid drop in blood pressure leads to the release of ghrelin (also known as the hunger hormone) which reduces satiety and makes you want to eat again. The same isn't the case for fructose, which is the primary sugar in fruit. Fructose has a lower glycaemic index, the fibre in fruit (not present in candy) slows down its absorption massively and doesn't cause that blood sugar spike - as a result, less ghrelin, more satiety for longer. This is why a small amount of fruit can satiate you, while people can often eat full bags of candy and still feel starving 20 minutes later.
@@selinesbeauyes. Nutrition has nothing to do with weight loss though. Unless you have hormonal imbalances. It’s true that it’s harder to overeat most healthy foods though.
Friendly reminder for those that have started eating right, cut out drinking, and got active - hormones can play a huge part! While it's likely not your genetics your body can work against you. Changes in estrogen, insulin resistance, low thyroid, and other things can make it extremely hard! It never hurts to ask your doctor about blood work.
Yup, felt like ken missed a huge factor there, especially with women, PCOS for example can be a massive obstacle to weight loss- I've only begun losing weight after taking pills to correct the imbalances.
Thank you! This isn’t a “ give up” message but hey your body might be imbalanced and it’s good to check your hormones. Women have hormones that literally make you hold onto fat because that’s their job(pregnancy and breastfeeding is usually when those hormones can skyrocket) I have said this on TH-cam before and men especially attacked me as I have no motivation etc. and nowhere did I say you can’t lose weight! You just might need some extra help.
I have multiple health issues that cause cyclic vomiting & spells of 0 appetite The one time I gained weight w/o trying and realized I’d gone up 20 lbs (along w/ acne, irregularity and such) I had undiagnosed PCOS. It’s a definite health condition that creates a battle w weight gain (my acne was actually the biggest battle)
As someone whose doctor keeps raising my dosage for hypothyroidism, I know the battle. It can be so hard at times. My endocrinologist is constantly changing things to try to help but my body is sassy. But I keep trying. Agreed, those blood tests are key!
As someone who is overweight, i honestly can not comprehend eating that much in one meal. I feel i eat too much, but the food that these people eat honestly blows my mind, I'm not trying to sound insensitive. I love food, but i honestly don't love any food enough to eat that much of it.
it’s so insane to me to think about how big and stretched their stomachs must be that feeling of being full must just not exist for them like it does us seeing too much food can make me feel nauseous sometimes let alone eating it!! it’s insane to me i just don’t get how u get to a point that bad
The cool thing is if you change your habits with time you can actually look back and feel the same way about your former self. I was max 270 and can look back at my old binging days and go ‘bruh, how?’
The dietician I spoke to in the last month told me that excess sugar in your blood stream gets stored by your liver as fat in your body so according to my dietitian you most certainly do get fat from eating fruit or sugary foods which are impossible to avoid because everything we eat these days is stuffed full of sugar.
By the time you eat that much fruit, you would have the ‘runs’ so bad that your body wouldnt have enough time to absorb most of the calories because everything is running through the GI track so fast. I love me some fruit, but holy shit, thats some dedication if you manage to get overweight purely on fruit.
This show always motivates me to get up and move around. It's not just food addiction that gets people like this. It's the lack of movement and past/present trauma
Ken you're thinking of the word coping mechanism. She has unresolved trauma. Sad thing is if she doesn't want to get better, no amount of help will fix it. Love you guys!
@@JamesMcElhatten People develop different coping mechanisms. Don't invalidate other people's trauma just because they have a response that looks different from yours.
I appreciate you guys taking a moment to explain how binging disorder and food addiction works. It is just as valid of an eating disorder as the ones that cause you to lose weight but very few realize that. I suffered with binging in high school due to severe depression and it’s so nice to know people are finally putting it together how it works, so thank you! ❤
As someone that has had gastric bypass, it actually saddens me how some of these people think its a cure all. Sometimes I wonder if they think they can do this, then continue living as they are, but the weight will just disappear. That is NOT how it works, it is a tool not a cure. So when I see people want it, but not be willing to do anything, it is SO sad. I was almost 400 pounds. I've lost over 200 pounds, and currently weigh 170. I had the surgery over 20 years ago and kept it off. It worked for me, because I knew it was a chance for a new life. I took that chance and made the most of it.
@@Kimmyfuzzygogglepage Oh definitely. I started eating more healthy and watching my portions. The surgery helped with feeling full more quickly. My ex-wife had it, I told her it would require a great deal of sacrifice and she accused me of not being supportive. She soon got pregnant and of course then she was "eating for two" and the surgery became "undone".
Accepting you have a problem is a great start. The hardest part is to actually do something about it. It's nice to have help and support but the only person who can truly help you, is yourself.
Honestly, I get the feeling she was so rude because they were women trying to help her and not men. As a woman, I feel like having another woman coming in while you're lying there like a 600lb goblin mess, you're going to feel insecure and it's going to trigger some sort of trauma response. I don't know but I doubt she'd shout like that at a man trying to help her because she's used to her husband "helping" her. She didn't shout at the first doctor and he was saying some pretty mean (but true) stuff to her and she kept the appointment because he told her to. To sum it up I think she just doesn't like women because she hates herself and what she's become.
Bingo! Seeing younger, slim and attractive women in your space while you're looking like a human blob all laid up in your funky ass bed can definitely bring out the meanness. The anger was a result of the jealousy and insecurity.
I also think it could be because her boyfriend passed during filming of her journey. I feel bad but my god does it make her seem so unlikable without context
They literally call fires from oversize dead bodies in crematoriums "grease fires". Its a thing that actually happens. A normal body takes 1-2 hours to cremate, a body her size takes 4-6 hrs. Being this size causes issues in every facet of life
Making someone who is on oxygen cater to you is so effing selfish, honestly. I feel for her as far as her childhood and assault. But as someone with a similar background... I could never even ALLOW someone to do that stuff for me while they're obviously in need of help too. RIP Randy. That woman took full advantage of you up until death.

Moving is extremely painful and causes my already exhaustion to become worse. With all that being said I would be so grateful to have a dietitian and physical therapist come to my house to make my life better. I would rather die than have my husband forced to clean up my shit. He already has to do so much like do laundry and drive the kids to all their activities plus me to my doctor appointments (I LOVE to drive but because I’m so exhausted most the time and the exhaustion comes on like a seizure I don’t feel it’s safe for me to drive). A science channel released a video on how exercise is a very minor part of weight loss because of what you said about our ancestors not having as much food as we do. Majority of weight loss is just calorie counting. I lost a few kilos when I was in hospital bedridden just because I hated the hospital food and didn't eat much of it.
Simple cooking help too! Last year, I stopped cooking with canola oil and switched to cooking everything in either olive oil, butter, or coconut oil. I dropped about 15 lbs while eating the same foods!
So true. Because of mental health issues, I spent several months in bed with basically zero exercise, I would only get up for absolute necessities like going to the bathroom. But I also almost quit eating, I could spend two entire days in my bed without a single meal. I lost about 15 kgs / 35 pounds in a few months. I was overweight so it turned out to be a positive thing (the only one in this situation). Even though stop eating altogether is definitely NOT the best way to lose weight, it shows that your calories intake is more important than your physical activity.
@@oddlibrarianout1295 Considering canola oil only has 4 more calories than olive oil per tbsp, you either did something else in conjunction with that to lose the weight, or you're talking out of your ass.
Not sheets and bed ridden. The bacteria and sweat on that mattress can really turn deadly and fast! For any person, regardless of disability, the best thing you can do is keep those sheets cleaned and mattress covered from accidents. If you can’t afford it, go to any second hand store and buy sheets. It’s probably cheaper just to buy new, but secondhand stores will have sheets. It will greatly improve the likelihood of not getting an infection or it turning into something more serious. Even bed sores, cuts, then an infection, itching, irritation… people don’t realize how serious this can be when you cannot see the skin. It can turn deadly, seemingly overnight.
I had skin allergies when I was a kid. Every Saturday I changed my sheets and vacuumed the mattress. Can't imagine... My allergy was caused by Bounce dryer sheets. 🙃
@@jilbertbyeah, I’ve been through it too. I’ve had allergies to household items when I got older, then as a kid it was non/precious metals (zippers, necklaces, rings, jewelry, and the 10 belt loop attachments in jeans. When you sweat or get moisture into something that you’re allergic to? That is another type of hell. I remember my little mood rings would always get worse once my hands got wet. Something that not everyone knows, or that I didn’t was that constant and repeated exposure is a huge factor. When I got older, I had to clean up after my mom when she moved- I used a huge bucket of water with dish soap and a cap of bleach to clean the carpet, and room. A few hours later, I broke out and figured out I was now allergic to EVERY household item: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and best of all- any type of nail polish, adhesive, glue, remover, gel, or acrylic. It costs so much to buy the “clean” version of every product I use. I had eczema as a kid. I was actually allergic to metal, non-precious metals. So, any metal on jeans, I would break out. When you sweat into sheets and they’re not clean from sweat, food, bacteria, or fragrance it’s a huge difference. What always made it worse was sweat and fabric of pants sticking together. It was the moisture, which was made worse by body heat. Basically, that’s the perfect environment for bacteria.
I had a psychiatrist that filled in for my usual psychiatrist. This man was like Dr. Now, and he went up one side of me, and down the other. This was about drug use, but I think the message is universal. He shut down ALL of my old excuses, my victim-mentality, immaturity, ect. I was FURIOUS, but calmed down as the evening progressed and thought about what he said. It was a really hard pill to swallow, but in that moment, there was massive shift in my thinking and attitude from that day in, and eventually got me to a place to accept Jesus, who set me free from my addictions, and other "evil activities".
It's because what you eat matters, for example, 13 McDonald's cookies is 2200 calories, a large shake with it bumps that up to 3000. If you are trying to powerlift, you wouldn't want that. You would want 4k calories of the correct balances of things including a lot of protein. But these people eat food that is horrible for them, so they eat much more calories because of the choices. It also is because the body adapts, so as they keep eating more and more, they feel comfortable eating more and more with eating a normal amount eventually feeling like they're starving.
1:30 I used to always think this when I watched shows like this and it actually made me seriously depressed and hate myself. Those of you who this thought hits a little too close to home, you don’t need someone to validate that you are amazing and that the world is better because you are in it. Keep doing what brings you joy and you will find your true happiness. I promise. ❤
She thought it was the easy option, she probably thought she'd go have her operation and she'd lose weight with no effort on her part. I've seen it before where people just think its the easiest option and a miracle cure, and this woman is a perfect example, she doesn't seem interested in doing anything to help herself.
In WeightWatchers, on one plan they had, nearly all raw fruit and veg was considered "free". One girl was literally eating a whole bag of apples daily, and her weight loss still was off the charts weekly - over 7lbs on the regular, 19lbs her first week.
8:28 I like that you point out that you’re cracking jokes as she’s telling a horrible back story, but they all have tragic back stories. Nobody gets to be that size without some sort of trauma
Last Fall, I changed my diet. After being ill from that virus that took over, I gained over 50lbs. At the time, I didn't know I was lacking testosterone. So counting calories meant nothing. I fasted, lost a few lbs, but couldn't lose more. So Ken, I pretty much starved myself, but not thinking, ate lots of bananas. I gained ten lbs in less than two wks bc of my banana diet! I don't know why I didn't look into the carbs in that fruit. I can't wait to show man what you said. I still talk about my banana diet, since it wasn't long ago that I did this. 😂
4:14 I did Weight Watchers to lose about 40lbs after I quit smoking, and they have “zero point foods” which include fruits and veggies. People think fruits are bad for you because it’s high in sugar, but the reason it’s not as bad as people think is because of the fiber in the fruit. Not all fruits/veggies are zero points though, but there’s not many. The reason most are zero points is because the fiber in some way counteracts the sugar, and your body metabolizes it a little slower than processed sugars. You’re not really supposed to go crazy just eating fruit though, but it’s totally fine in moderation. I’d eat fruits and veggies every day of my diet and it was great. Lean proteins like eggs and chicken breasts are zero points too. If any of you are struggling to lose weight I totally recommend weight watchers. My husband also quit smoking and he also lost about 40lbs when he did it too. And we’ve been able to maintain our weight after the diet too by just being smarter about what we eat and applying what we learned from WW.

His son Jonathan Nowazarden (whatever) is the executive producer of Megalomedia which produces the show. And Randy died on this episode. He complained of chest pain and mother Teresa here told him to go lay down. I think they called his death from covid.
"Lisa Fleming, a cast member from the TLC show My 600-lb Life, died in August 2018 at the age of 50 from causes unrelated to her weight. So actually yes! About the fat burning. When people who are extremely morbidly obese get cremated, it can cause a huge “grease” fire.
😮😂😂😂😂

Congrats

@@emstinkthis was fascinating thank you
As a former cutter with severe depressive disorder, my experience was that the physical pain was easier for me to deal with than the mental pain. I could focus on it and control the situation when my world felt out of control.

There's nothing I hate more than a wasted effort on someone who doesn't want to help themselves while there's whole bunch of other people out there that are more deserving :-(
he just being realistic.. theres too many people who want instant results for absolutely no effort
gaining/losing a large amount weight because you don’t want anyone to find you attractive to protect yourself is so heartbreaking. i’ve heard similar stories from many women :(
I have a friend who is overweight.

I was the same way as a teen. Thankfully, I did lose the weight in college, now I'm dedicated to the gym but the journey wasn't easy.
When I weighed 230 I was hit on all the time by multiple men daily, I weigh 150 now and it’s a very rare occasion, which I’m not very upset with tbh.
I feel she's also jealous of those women who have regular bodies unlike her so the only way to retaliate is by insulting them.

"Where you got to be at, Lisa?" lmfao hilarious
You know, I think the family thing is never really about genetics, but about the culture of eating in that family. People may say genetics, and maybe they believe it, but the real reason everyone in a family is fat is because the whole family eats like that. It makes the mental aspect of dieting that much harder, because eating like that is something ingrained from childhood. Like Ken said, the mental aspect is the hard part.
That is absolutely true!
Bingo
I agree. My son was raised by his stepmom who has a um large family. One day I wanted to make a recipe from "home" for him and I didn't have to wonder why they were so large anymore.
I think there also is a genetic aspect but not the type of genetics they are thinking of. Genetics can effect stuff relating to hunger and predisposition to addiction, but most of the people who say it's genetics don't actually understand what the genetics are doing and if they did probably wouldn't do anything to help with the genetic differences.
exactly. totally agreed.

@@yomokogirl2074 at least with fruit you're getting nutrition and fibre
This! Drinking like a typical American adds puffiness to the face and really screws with your bodily functions
Women have hormones that literally make you hold onto fat because that’s their job(pregnancy and breastfeeding is usually when those hormones can skyrocket)
I have said this on TH-cam before and men especially attacked me as I have no motivation etc. and nowhere did I say you can’t lose weight! You just might need some extra help.
I have multiple health issues that cause cyclic vomiting & spells of 0 appetite
The one time I gained weight w/o trying and realized I’d gone up 20 lbs (along w/ acne, irregularity and such) I had undiagnosed PCOS.
It’s a definite health condition that creates a battle w weight gain (my acne was actually the biggest battle)

You can technically get fat off fruit, but you go and try eat 5000 calories worth of oranges in one sitting (about 85 oranges).
The dietician I spoke to in the last month told me that excess sugar in your blood stream gets stored by your liver as fat in your body so according to my dietitian you most certainly do get fat from eating fruit or sugary foods which are impossible to avoid because everything we eat these days is stuffed full of sugar.
@@lennoxraynewood2741prolly because we run off sugars, kinda why you carbo load before doing physical activity.

I had this thought too! You could see on her face as soon as she saw them this anger came out
Bingo! Seeing younger, slim and attractive women in your space while you're looking like a human blob all laid up in your funky ass bed can definitely bring out the meanness. The anger was a result of the jealousy and insecurity.

I remember this. Randy passed from covid in the middle of filming.
Is that why she is suddenly so snappy at others. If so, tbh, understandable.
She lost her best friend, caretaker, etc.
But she had a bit of attitude when he was around too, but not snappy
Oh so sad
Oh so sad
Oh so sad
She probably rolled over on him in the night and they called it COVID.
Gym motivation has been activated
From Jan ‘23 until November of ‘23 I lost 3x lbs of weight due to long Covid causing severe nausea (24/7) and vomiting multiple times daily… it was miserable, I had wanted to lose like 10 lbs but I felt so awful and was so malnourished I looked ill. This year I’ve been able to eat more regularly and gained 12lbs back by eating excess calories. It’s so hard to keep off if you don’t watch what you’re doing. I love hearing you guys’s input on weight loss/gain. You guys inspire me to be more active ❤
18:18 "Where you got to be at Lisa , Where you got to go " .. lmao I HOLLERED imma be saying that to everybody now cause she is literally bed bound ... who cares what time they come
As a chronic pill-taker, I have definitely bitten a tablet in half while driving 😂
That’s hilarious.
Is that so it is easier to swallow without water?
@@Renizzle I assume it's because they have to take half of the pill
It makes me feel uneasy when my bf does this 😭
@@Renizzle @tylerisntasheep6854 is right, it's just because I needed to take half!
I can't imagine let my self go to reach this point. I understand that lot of people have a hard life and their only comfort is food but it has to be so uncomfortable live in your body even before you get to this size
Mental illness can be a hell of a drug.
People in them comments trying to use logic to explain mental illness. lol
45mins after posting 15k views that's awesome. 🙂 For the love of god Ken please fight no neck Ed😅
@@jasonwagner4266Mental illnesses are well understood and almost always have a pattern of behavior that's shared between people who have any specific mental illness. To pretend like logic can't be used here is asinine. Mental illnesses don't make people unknowable and mysterious, they make them predictable.
@@jasonwagner4266 So logic can't be used to explain a mental disorder? Doctors do it everyday lmao
love seeing Dane fired up there towards the end
Dr. Now is a savage.😂 A real legend and his sarcasm is refreshing
600lb life, the show we watch to make us feel better about our own lives. Little did we know, Ken’s gonna call us out for being single 😂
Ok. I will be going to the gym today. I almost talked myself out of it this morning. Nope. Ill be going definitely after seeing this.
Keep going! You can do it!
I’ll be right there with you as soon as I clock out of work in a couple hours!
The human body is... fascinating
All of a sudden them fat horror movie characters don't seem all that far fetched
Finally it is actually my birthday
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday🎉🎉🎉

Dr. Now's son, "Johnathan", is an executive producer of the show.
FYI. The doctor went through a divorce and was accused by the judge of "hiding millions of dollars in assets" from his soon to be ex wife.
Good .why the hell should she get any? That's disgusting
Finally got to hear Ken wish a Happy Birthday on my birthday. My day feels complete.
I have CFS, fibromyalgia, and Lipodema which causes me to be EXHAUSTED, weak joints that slip out of place and pain in both my joints and muscles. I couldn’t handle being like her.
Right?! I'd be crazy grateful for that kinda help. I have really bad fibro and EDS which causes joint weakness and dislocations all the time. It's definitely hard to get around and I barely sleep cuz of the pain so I would give anything to have that sort of help, and she's just throwing it right in the trash. Like how ungrateful can you be?
Fibro, chronic migraines and Trigeminal neuralgia here. The exhaustion is overwhelming! The thought of taking a shower can make you cry. It’s tough but I thankfully have a great support system. Hugs fellow spoonies. ❤️
My mom also has fibromyalgia there was a point her doctor had her on so many meds she couldn’t get out bed luckily she’s found a good routine to get her back in shape and not in such severe pain and depression I know it’s hard counting on people and I’m so proud of her
A science channel released a video on how exercise is a very minor part of weight loss because of what you said about our ancestors not having as much food as we do.
Majority of weight loss is just calorie counting. I lost a few kilos when I was in hospital bedridden just because I hated the hospital food and didn't eat much of it.
Very true. I’ve lost 57lbs and I did almost zero exercise, just watching what I eat.
@@jilbertb😮😮glad you figured it out!
Everything you said in your original comment makes perfect sense but at the same time this woman seems to be breaking all the rules and surviving
5:18 had me reeling like Ken and saying “oh my god” out loud. That’s an insane amount of food. 💀🤨😵💫
We love when Ken posts during our lunch breaks 💪
I don't get it, I surely don't. I'm a former powerlifter, and I used to have to eat 4,000 calories a day and it was exhausting
I've lost 159 pounds... and yea once I got over my eating problem... my world started changing around me!!!
That’s great!
I promise. ❤
I love how I just sit down with my dinner and one minute in ken looks directly at the audience saying I'm sorry if your eating lol. Thank you Ken 😅
😭 I see this right after I told myself I was getting myself a “little treat “
She thought it was the easy option, she probably thought she'd go have her operation and she'd lose weight with no effort on her part. I've seen it before where people just think its the easiest option and a miracle cure, and this woman is a perfect example, she doesn't seem interested in doing anything to help herself.
That’s how so many people are on this show
I always wonder how they pay for these groceries but they don't do anything else but eat and sleep.
In WeightWatchers, on one plan they had, nearly all raw fruit and veg was considered "free". One girl was literally eating a whole bag of apples daily, and her weight loss still was off the charts weekly - over 7lbs on the regular, 19lbs her first week.
And now "can humans get barnacles?" Is in my search history. And the answer disturbingly is yes. Thanks Ken.. thanks 🤣
What a rollercoaster of emotions I just experienced xD
Went from awe I hope she gets help to damn girl 😂
8:28 I like that you point out that you’re cracking jokes as she’s telling a horrible back story, but they all have tragic back stories. Nobody gets to be that size without some sort of trauma
Sure but at some point in your adult life you can't kep blaming g your childhood for the state you're in. Especially whe you bypass 25
@@lovealways1992oh I absolutely agree. Especially staying in bed for 4 years, I can’t even imagine staying in bed longer than like 9 hours
What a rude lady. She does not want help. Other people would kill for such an oppertunity.
Why you gotta call me out like that Ken within the first minute of the video. LOL
Ken called me single in every language and every facial expression😮😭😭💀
My 600 lb life is a great show to watch to motivate myself to lose weight. I love watching Sean of Steel’s reactions too since he used to be 600lbs it offers a cool perspective to things
His son Jonathan Nowazarden (whatever) is the executive producer of Megalomedia which produces the show. And Randy died on this episode. He complained of chest pain and mother Teresa here told him to go lay down. I think they called his death from covid.
Finally a video to watch to let me escape reality for a min! The world is on fire and I need a break lol
I swear Dr. Now introduced himself as "Dr. Jar Jar Binks" on the fuckin' skype call lmao
😭😭
Every time i hear the name Randy, all i hear is drunk mr lahey from trailer park boys 😆
Hey RandyBobandy! How about a little drinky poo??
"I am the liquor"
So glad i finally get a happy birthday from Ken!!!!
Happy birthday!
@frostdemen1 thank you so much!
"Lisa Fleming, a cast member from the TLC show My 600-lb Life, died in August 2018 at the age of 50 from causes unrelated to her weight. Fleming had appeared on the show in February and had weight loss surgery that resulted in a 200 lb weight loss. Her daughter, Danielle, told TMZ that Fleming had other health issues."
8:27 I know exactly what she's talking about .. I'm not 600lbs but I thought that exact same way ... maybe if I was fat the person who molested my entire childhood wouldn't hurt me anymore
They never have sheets or comforters on the bed and NEVER A FRAME
What frame could hold that?
@@Spax086 Ford F150 Superduty frame
Probably have no sheets since you can’t change them if they never leave the bed
My gosh… I really hope she can turn things around 🥺
(After watching the whole video): Oh. Well… 😑
6:20 Ken having a moment of clarity, like "oh yeah. Trauma is a thing"
I was eating boiled eggs while watching when buff said "did u say barnacles?" Almost choked on egg yolk😂😂😂
