    This guy had an incredibly unhealthy relationship with not only food, but his mother. She fed him and enabled him until her death, then he passed shortly after. Depending on your viewpoint, he didn’t stand a chance even with Dr. Now’s help.

      I honestly don't understand how/why when patients like this present to Dr Now, he doesn't have the authority to just put the son in hospital and ban all extra food, the mum can visit but she has to be searched for food, or she is banned from seeing him.
      Yes it's harsh but she killed him, he might have survived if these radical actions had been taken sooner. Obviously a huge tonne of therapy afterwards but the guy needed urgent intervention and I guessed he probably died but reading your comment still hit me like damn she actually killed him....

      For several weeks at least but he still needs protein. It's necessary for any form of repair process in the body (cells, wounds, organ and tissue maintenance), immune system, hormone production (this also requires essential fatty acids from nutrition). Otherwise the body will start self-digesting in an unhealthy way.
      So he at least has to eat protein and necessary unsaturated fatty acids in addition to the vitamins.

    • @bertranwalker
      @bertranwalker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@FeuerblutRM dude is talking about starvation. by eating any amount of protein you will stop the process and body will just be malnourished(dude will be hungry af). If you drink only water after couple of days you will stop feeling hunger, body starts using fat cells to survive. You won't lose much muscle in 1-2 week of doing it and lose like 1 kilo per day. If you using protein might as well get TDEE and cut it by 20% and lose weight gradually to help the skin readjust. Man i've seen some pics of people that lost 100+ pounds fast and that is goddamn nightmare material with the skin touching the ground and everything.

    • @AcidOnTheStreet

      @@bertranwalker Otherwise eggs, that has everything the body needs, except vitamin c but that you can just take a pill for. Yeah he might need quite alot but it has also 0 carbs so the body will use the fat as well, not only ''eating'' the muscle lol if some would think that it would at that weight.
      But ppl like this won't and can't change, especially with enablers like that, she should have been convicted to manslaughter imo, guess she got ''lucky'' dying before that. I don't fkn know why they even sign up for the show if this is how they will react, wtf did they think would happen? Dr. Now gonna give them surgery and then say ''goodbye and good luck''? lol

    Six months ago, I was 295 lbs. I ate out of depression, the convenience of cheap, unhealthy food and the lack of knowledge that I could change my eating habits with my own willpower and support from friends and family. As I am right at this moment, I weigh 262 lbs. I've only been on keto for a month and a half now. I'm barely saving any money due to the expenses I put into buying the food for my diet, but it's worth it just to be able to look down and see my own feet again. I was uncomfortable for a long time, but I feel like I can finally breathe again. Never give up on your weight loss journey! Be it friends(online/offline), family or partner, support is the biggest motivator. Let me be a friend that needs you to never give up, and never let your body control you.

      Good job brother, stay strong, stay dilligent and disciplined. The more you train your body with the power of your mind and prove to yourself that your body is a slave to your mind and not the other way around. Try to fast more too if you find yourself on a budget, or try to eat cheap things like eggs and ground beef and most importantly try to do any sort of movement while fasting/keto. At my heaviest, I weighed 630 pounds, and when I tell you everything hurts horrifically bad, I mean it. It was constant agony while waiting to die. I now weigh 220 pounds as of today, and hate thinking back to just how big I was. I was not an addicted eater, but instead suffer from a rare brain malformation, and the steroids needed to keep me alive then was also causing me to gain weight rapidly. The debilitating headaches I would suffer from would cause me to aspirate vomit into my lungs and end up with a terrible infection, coughing up blood and barely able to breathe. I spent most days either in the Emergency Room or admitted to the hospital being pumped with antibiotics and steroids. At that size, life was nearly impossible. You can hardly do anything on your own, and the care needed around the clock is demeaning and demanding, never mind the psychological issues and depression that comes with being morbidly obese. If anyone is looking to better their health and lose weight , try and make small changes that you can stick to instead of starting and failing a popular crash diet...

      I have been retired for a little while now. But at the hospital I worked at we didn't keep the bariatric beds in house. We had to call one of the companies to deliver the bed. Plus we needed the bed scale to get a weight. Most of the patients wouldn't help with their personal care either. You're so right about the resources.

    I had BED (binge eating disorder) I got help, took 3 years of therapy specific to the disorder. Went to a nutritionist who specializes in EDs, went to a nutrition group for people with EDs, Took ED personal therapy, and ED group therapy. The goal isn’t directly to lose weight, it’s to treat the disorder, but losing weight is a byproduct of treating the disorder. I lost 100lbs and I walk 2.5-3 miles every day with my dog and am able to dress how I want with pride and no self consciousness. I’ve never felt better or been more happy. Yes, the mom had a big role to play in it because when he asked for those foods, she should’ve said no you are on a 800 Aurier diet. I cannot get you that and if he throws a little hissy fit, then she needs to deal with it. But it is also, I hate to say it on him it is a disorder, but you have to have the willpower and the power to say in your head that you want to change. Obviously he did not want to change and I hate to say it ended his life. I have a friend who is 400 and something pounds. I always tell her she is beautiful the way she is, but I worry about her health. I worry about the health aspect of her being that weight not the looks and she is losing weight because she has to or else she’s gonna get worse And her health is going to get worse She’s lost like I think 60 pounds now because she had to have the willpower she had to be the one to change like I said, of course the Mom is to blame she was severely enabling him but I’m sorry we all can’t just put the blame on the mother

    I was stress eating for a large portion of my life. I ended up at my highest weight of 280. When I met my significant other, I finally felt happy with myself and happy to be with him and starting eating less and less due to just that feeling of happiness. I didn't have that need to eat to make myself feel better. In a matter of a couple of months, I easily dropped 80 pounds, then shed off another 50. I'm now sitting comfortably at a 150, though you can still see the signs of where I was overweight (the loose skin and stretch marks). Despite that, I view it as a good sign of progress and a constant reminder to not let myself get that way again. Some people need those reminders because yes, your body does goes numb from all that weight. I can't feel my feet at all anymore, and that's the price I paid.

Imagine overeating that much, and the strain it puts on your stomach, pancreas, intestines, and everything else, but then also take into account the fact that when you overeat even to a more normal extent, it can make you sick because your body can’t handle that much food and it will expel stomach contents somehow to resolve the problem. He might also have pancreatitis, which can be caused by an excess of heavy, fatty foods, and sometimes chronic pancreatitis can cause bowel problems, but it can also just give you uncontrollable diarrhea. I also agree with the gland issue comment because usually eyes popping like those are an indicator for a thyroid issue but I have to admit im doing only an educated guess at that point as there should be alot more signs to check 1st

      true. there have been studys who had ppl not eating a single calorie over a timespan of 1 year and more. all supervised by medical staff and with vitamins and everything u need suplemented. they lost nearly exactly the amount of weigt calculated before. so if ppl say i just cant loose weigt its always makes me wanne slam the head against a wall.

      I'd argue fasting would have been better than 800 cals daily. Starvation studies during war era showed that this is way worse on the body than no food.

    Ken and Dane, I just want you both to know how appreciated you guys are. My heaviest was 315 pounds, and I am down to right at 200 now. You hurt SO MUCH when you carry that much weight on your body. I know both of you expressed some frustration with your weight, but it is possible to lose it! Remember you are doing it for yourself and your loved ones. Thanks for always making quality content - I can't wait until my birthday shout out in October! :)

    I wonder if being so sedentary has caused nerve issues, making him harder to feel when something happens. My mom was 450 and there were plenty of times she didn't make it to the bathroom, she'd just walk around with a washcloth between her legs. That even continued after her bariatric surgery due to how much pain she had from carrying that much weight for so many years.

      @@yofukashidayo Weird info I just learned there are two slightly different conversions when it comes to the unit of "Ton". There is a short ton (what United States and Canada uses). The short ton is exactly 2,000 pounds or around 907 kg. Then there is the long ton (used by Britain). The long Ton is 2,240 pounds or 1,016.05 kg. Seems rather confusing to me but the more you know!

    I hope people like this boost the confidence of some people who think they're "Fat" and refuse to eat. Because this is super sad. It sucks we live in a world of extremes. Many are extremely fat, extremely Skinny or extremely buff to the point where it becomes unhealthy

      Its not "many" its just a vocal minority that gets a voice bcs they are basically a modern version of a freaks circus.
      The world doesnt have that many insanely obese people. But they do exist. Enough that a show like this can exist. Its just that "many" isnt the right word for it.

    • @chillchica9626
      @chillchica9626 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Unfortunately, for a lot of people who are on the opposite end of the spectrum this type of show isn't a confidence boost, more like horror porn. I'm mostly recovered from my ED issues (I still have days where I struggle, and admittedly having health issues that crashed my weight dangerously low and having to have constant weight checks and goals has actually helped keep me at a healthier, if still slightly under ideal weight), and I enjoy M6PL reacts videos. But I have to be mindful of how much I watch, who I watch, and my own mental space. When I recognize that first little ear worm of "oh god, I could be just like those people" I know I need to take a break from it for a while. A lot of low weight EDs have a huge component of fear around gaining any weight, and that fear normally takes the form of "any kind of weight gain will lead me to be fat/obese/morbidly obese". Even when I first started trying to gain weight back around 2 years ago I really struggled with the idea. And a lot of it was my brain thinking that the smaller weight was safer and better. There is a huge control component too, where your brain can't control everything, but controlling your weight is an easy and safe option even when it isn't. Watching M6PL shows what happens when people refuse to get that control back over what they eat in excess, so to someone with a low weight ED it becomes "if I relax even just a little bit, THAT is what MY BRAIN will lead me too, so I must control it all the time" even though in reality it takes a long time and conditioning/deconditioning for someone to gain that amount of weight (by that I mean that even the average person isn't going to ever spiral to 500+ lbs because your body physically says "STOP!" after a point. Your body deconditions to even allow someone to eat 10k+ calories a day without help from super calorie dense foods)

    • @Koselill
      @Koselill 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah its super unhealthy... For me I watch this show because I think its interesting. Im overweight but I know I'll never be their weight, so its not to scare me not to eat... I decided to lose weight to fit into clothes better, not because I watched this show and went "omg if I keep eating I'll be 600lbs!! 😱" and the amount of people that say they use this show as motivation to not eat or lose weight is DISTURBING. I can guarantee most of those people have never crossed 300lbs... Getting complacent and just eating calorie dense foods can easily lead someone into the 200's, but to cross 300 your relationship with food has to be disturbed in some way that you should probably explore in a therapists office.. People who get to 600lbs have very serious trauma that they're controlling with food instead of therapy, just like severe drug addicts.
