My grandma had a beautiful cocktail and his wings were never was trimmed/cut she used to let him out and fly around the house all the time, one day the cocktail was flying and he hit the window pretty hard my grandma took him to the vet and he couldn’t fly ever again, His wings were broken so I agree with what ur saying
Something similar happened to a good friend of mine, he would let his lovebird fly around the house and didn’t cut the birds wing to train it, it flew up to the moving ceiling fan and it his it eye. They took him to the vet and did their best to help but his left eye was blind. Please trim your birds wings people you need to train them but it takes time and patience. Good luck 👍🏽
5:12 Just pointing out that this method does not ALWAYS work. My lovebird in the beginning flew away from me and didn't bite so I don't know about lovebirds but for birds like my macaw or ringneck parakeet, this only made biting worse. Parrots are very social and playful so sometimes if you give them any sort of reaction (whether it is good or bad) they will most likely continue to bite. Since birds are very different than humans they do not really understand our body language. All they see is that when they bite they get a reaction or attention which parrots like. The best way to stop them from biting is just to not react at all. They will see that biting won't give them anything out of it and they should stop.
I was reluctant of this issue at the begining when I saw your first video. But now I agree with you because you really show in a very good manner that you neither hurt her nor made her not fly at all. Agree that you did the best for her in order to do not get in danger good job my friend.
@@ILiuHaBrO FUCK you. You scream at your lovebird and flick their beak when they bite you? What sort of owner does that? There are plenty of ways to positively reinforce good behaviour that involve patience and tolerance. But you have none of that. You want to see results quickly, so you take to drastic, toxic measures to get what you want. Do you scream at your friends when they do something you don't like, too? I've had 2 birds fly out the door so fast and with the door open just a little for a few seconds. They can be very sneaky and incredibly fast. 1 I managed to get back, the other was gone forever and probably died, it was very upsetting. So people should always think safety first and not be so quick to judge those that choose to clip a few flight feathers to make sure their birds are safe.

A lot of times people have to cut their birds feathers. They fly into walls and hit their heads on ceilings and windows get up in places and never come down and many other things. For these reasons and a few more it may be necessary to clip a birds wings. My bird is a 2 month old bird right now. I have opted not to clip it's wings, but it is a terrible flyer which could result in it's death if I let it out of the cage, therefore until my bird is tame I can not let it out. This could make a bird really sad if their cage is too small in which case clipping it's wings is important, the taming process also takes longer with un-clipped wings, you can always teach your bird to fly later in it's life so clipping it's wings is not anywhere near as bad as you think it is and by doing so you may prevent your bird from scarying itself, because, yes they do that when they fly into mirrors and walls and ceilings and assume you're the one who hit them making your already poor relationship deteriorate. So all in all a totality of circumstances is more important when deciding whether to clip a birds wings and the choice you ultimately make can drastically affect your birds health if you don't clip it's wings because you "feel Bad" about it. With all this in mind and based on what he says in this video I hope it allows you to understand just how dangerous it can be for these babies in a normal household with unclipped wings. LOL the bird is mad at him now haha he made it jump off that's why LOL
I had to watch all the videos about clipping wings and read all comments. So far, ur video has convinced that, yea.. we bought these babies from breeders and anticipate the moment it would be tame in our hands, yet it fly high and sit on my curtain reel everytime. It only comes down for meal. I dont like putting it in cage yet there was one time it got hit with fan. I forgot it was up there. Lucky nothing happened. And my first bird flew away and got lost perhaps. Never return home. I was devastated, cried for days and was worried sick cuz it was still feeding on syringe. After all the consideration, i think its best to clip its wings and not chain it or cage it. And the fact that it wont be able fly high, would keep me chill not getting worked out about what might happen, at least until it is tamed right😉.
I just bought mine three months ago, and thanks god the breeder had cut the wings. I’m office hours person, but when in home i just need to open the cage. Will follow me everywhere in the house.
I recently took in 4 lovebird hatchlings (their mother abandoned them). They're doing great except for one. The one in question was either born with a deformed wing or had it break early on in development. It's clear to me that this bird will NEVER be able to fly. The wing doesn't fold up and fit flat against the bird's body and instead, awkwardly sits downward. The primary feathers that grow on this wing also sit awkwardly downward, leading to the bird having trouble walking around. It's constantly tripping on these feathers. An amputation for this bird will likely be best in the future to avoid so much discomfort. For now, those awkward feathers get clipped as short as possible for the birds comfort. Sometimes clipping the wings is the best option for their safety, or even training.
I do have a few words to say on this. If you clip your bird, they can still fly with a gust of wind. The problem here is, if you clip your bird, he has no control over his flight. If he lands in a tree or is sent miles away from home, he can't survive out in the wild if he can't fly properly. He'll be an easy meal for hawks. If you do flight train your bird, he'll be happier and he'll have the tools to come back to you if he lands in a tree. In fact, here's a video on a budgie who escaped. th-cam.com/video/7byB6co4UCM/w-d-xo.html Your lovebird doesn't and probably shouldn't be flight trained for going outside, but inside he'll be so much happier to fly around your house and he'll be healthier since he's exercising. Do the same with ascent and descent flying-increase the angle. That's really helpful to teach him how to get out of a tree.

Not gonna lie, this is a good point. I am so against cutting feathers, but this would be correct. I would say in this case you should cut his wings, as it shouldn’t kill him, but him getting out will. This is a good point.
Hello, i have a question...its been a month i got a love bird and he is fully adult...how to gain his trust and tame him he gets scared and screams whenever i put my hand full of seeds in cage its been 2 months please help😢
How long will it take to regrow new wings. Please tell me because my friend has given me a pair of love birds and their wings are clipped i'm waiting for them to fly in my aviary❤
The wings are the equivalent of their arms. If you cut the wings is like cutting a person's arms. They will die. To have the feathers trimmed is different. There are many tutorials in TH-cam that show the correct way. If not done properly it can be harmful or dangerous for the bird. The feathers should be properly trimmed to limit his ability to fly. Some feathers are essential for the bird to glide safely and not fatally plummet to the ground. These feathers should never be trimmed.
arms dont grow back, feathers do. i get what you're saying but they're not literally cutting the actual wing, they're TRIMMING the FEATHERS on the wing, and never enough to take away their ability to glide safely research your stuff
@@HashinItOutt YOU research your stuff ! Whatever you want to call it , cutting or trimming it is barbaric !! Birds are flyers ! You are aware that Loki died because he fell in a toilet, could not fly out and drowned ????

be patient, let him come to you. if he sits on your shoulder, gently lean your head towards him , when he is comfortable with that gently move your head in a stroking movement. Hand feed him. Mine comes to me most of the time for food even though he has free access to food all the time, because he is used to it and likes hand feeding. It is one of the best ways to train birds.
I timed my lovebirds wings because he was flying into the walls i probably won’t trim them again after they grow back now that he’s older. I let my lovebirds fly freely
Hey my friend your debate is pretty good.My mother got a baby parrot after 2 yrs he was proper trained bird once was taking a free fly one eagle took his one eye out.Well that bird gave 3 to 4 eggs from then my mom cut feathers out.
No. It takes away their safety because they fly to high places to feel safe. If you want the bird to trust you, you have to put in the effort. I reccomend checking out the channels WingsNpaws & Flocktalk

Ca ei sa inteleaga ca mina ta este sigura pentru ei. Ai avea nevoie de foarte multa rabdare dar sar putea sa functioneze. Mult succes!
I took care of lovebirds whenever I visited my grandparents.. am sure you can tell the gender by the color on top of their beak.. if its blue its boy if its pale then its female... your bird has pale color. Please correct me if am wrong
@@shilanjamil3171 it might be different but I can't differentiate between 2 species. They have so many similar features... tbh, am no expert about birds that's why I might be wrong too... I only cleaned their cages and refilled food/water played with some who were trusting of humans while I was visiting
That's only with budgies...NOT...lovebirds or any other kind of bird. *ONLY* budgies have that little cere above their beaks of blue/pink/purple- (Males) OR beige/tan (deep brown-only in full brood mode) or pale pink/very light blue with white circles around nostrils as babies under 4 months old in certain pied species-(Females). With lovebirds....... it's much more accurate to tell the difference in the sex of the bird by- the size of the bird (Males are larger than Females) color & shape of it's beak (Males have a much brighter candy-corn shade of orange/red/yellow on their much bigger beak... Females have much paler shades on their smaller sized beaks) AND by the shades of colors on their faces (Males always have much brighter shades of color around/on their faces than the Females paler shades of colors).
I use to think it was bad but then met someone who lost their bird in MT and I live there as well and a panick flight can cost the life of your most precious flying friend.
I wish more people understood this. I live in the city area and live on the 7th floor, my bird will most likely get caught in the fan, eat dust on top of shelves, get caught in barbed wire fences outside or get hit by traffic or WORSE, so it is honestly for her safety and more. A lot of people keep saying dont do it but they dont understand different situations
Yeah, but it's good to give them the option to fly away. If you can't read the bird's body language, they can just show you they're not happy with you sticking your hand near them yet. Please don't clip your birds wings. It takes away their safety and their identity. What is a bird if they can't fly?
So cutting their feathers 🪶 is like cutting their hair? But what changes does it have on their flight? And do you recommend any more videos on training birds?😊❤❤
*flight wings. I must tell you there are other ways of helping the bird to trust you. The reason they have wings is so they can fly away if they feel scared. If someone is scared or angry, they go to their room to recharge and feel safer. If you cut a bird's wings, it's like taking the door off someone's bedroom. Anyone can see what they're doing at any time. Don't do this to your bird.
Thank you. I just trimmed my baby love board wings. I have her for 4 weeks now. She was flying into walls and mirror I trimmed it today when she bit me I said aw aw lol she stopped 🐦 👍🏾
If a bird has been caged or not allowed to fly it will crash into things. A bird needs to learn to fly as we need to learn to walk . If a toddler is trying to walk and falls over, we do not think ' Oh let's chop it's legs off !! " give the bird time , in a sfe place to learn to fly, and land safely do not clip its wings !! It is a lazy thing to do for the benefit of the owner not the bird. Birds fly ...it is what they do !! You chose to have the bird put in the work to train it . clipping wings is nasty.

I agree, I made the decision to cut my budgies wing too, for taming purpose, also I live on the 8th floor.
These feathers should never be trimmed.
arms dont grow back, feathers do. i get what you're saying but they're not literally cutting the actual wing, they're TRIMMING the FEATHERS on the wing, and never enough to take away their ability to glide safely
research your stuff
@@HashinItOutt You missed the point
Yeah you missed the point he said in the comment triming is different
@@HashinItOutt YOU research your stuff ! Whatever you want to call it , cutting or trimming it is barbaric !! Birds are flyers ! You are aware that Loki died because he fell in a toilet, could not fly out and drowned ????
Thanks for the video, i liked verry much, you give much love to your birds, i can see that.
8 month lovebirds I have they always scare and not friend with me what I need to do they eat and when I go near they go inside nest what I need to do ? Please guide me
I’m jealous , whenever I try to hold my lovebird he turns into a monster lol
Haha same keeps on biting me-
be patient, let him come to you. if he sits on your shoulder, gently lean your head towards him , when he is comfortable with that gently move your head in a stroking movement. Hand feed him. Mine comes to me most of the time for food even though he has free access to food all the time, because he is used to it and likes hand feeding. It is one of the best ways to train birds.
It's everyone's choice, except the birds..lol.
You are funny, by everyone we meant bird owners.
What u will feed her and what u will give pls tell me
Buna. Recent am luat 2 agapornisi, si nu stiu cum sa ma imprietensc cu ei… am incercat sa le acord timp si rabdare dar niciun pas inainte..
i have my two budgies for two months should i clipp their wings?
No. It takes away their safety because they fly to high places to feel safe. If you want the bird to trust you, you have to put in the effort. I reccomend checking out the channels
WingsNpaws & Flocktalk
Hi there, I really like the cage you have for your bird, what’s the brand for it?
It’s from the company Ferplast (Bird Cage Giulietta)
6:28 she fly's and said Durak!!
My lovebirds wont leave its nest
What should i do?
I want to teach my bird to free fly! :D
First few times you go he'll stay with you and will not fly. Just be sure nothing is around that could hurt your little guy.
My grandma had a beautiful "COCKTAIL" ?? what was she drinking Cocktail is a alcohol mixed drink, a cockatiel is an Australia parrot which one did she keep in a cage??
Soooooooo the feathers will grow again and when the do I should cut my bird's feathers again???
When they can properly fly again
Can u train them to recall so u dont have to cut em
Just like hair
MC交BOSS yes you can
@@DevonThomas1204 thanks
Mine just flied away today so you doing the right thing until they get used to you

This is a free bird, that i teach since 6 weeks and now i can walk with him even in the nature, we don't run away
That's honestly really sweet, I'm glad you've taught such a caring bird ❤️
I m romanian too🙂 Ai o pasare foarte draguta❤❤❤
I have this kind green Fischer lovebird. He did potty moment to moment so i cant out him from cage to free in my home's here and there.
well, he is a bird ....where did you think he was going to poop ? Honestly, people need to use their brains and think before they get animals and birds. So now, because you were too lazy to educate yourself and THINK about the consequences of having a bird, that poor bird will spend the rest of it's life in a cage ! shocking !!
Do their wing grow back???
Yes
BIG BRAAIN PLAYS BRO
Multumesc...
Este dificil sa ii imblinzesti cind sunt in doi. Mult succes!
Do u still have the parot? is still alive?
But if we will open the cage to train him so it will fly
I took care of lovebirds whenever I visited my grandparents.. am sure you can tell the gender by the color on top of their beak.. if its blue its boy if its pale then its female... your bird has pale color. Please correct me if am wrong
you mean budgies and not lovebird. because lovebird does not have the same thing on their beak
@@shilanjamil3171 it might be different but I can't differentiate between 2 species. They have so many similar features... tbh, am no expert about birds that's why I might be wrong too... I only cleaned their cages and refilled food/water played with some who were trusting of humans while I was visiting
@@MrNametha aha okey
That's only with budgies...NOT...lovebirds or any other kind of bird.
*ONLY* budgies have that little cere above their beaks of
blue/pink/purple- (Males)
OR
beige/tan
(deep brown-only in full brood mode) or
pale pink/very light blue
with white circles around nostrils
as babies under 4 months old in certain pied species-(Females).
With lovebirds.......
it's much more accurate to tell the difference in the sex of the bird by- the size of the bird
(Males are larger than Females)
color & shape of it's beak
(Males have a much brighter candy-corn shade of
orange/red/yellow on their much bigger beak...
Females have much paler shades on their smaller sized beaks)
AND
by the shades of colors on their faces (Males always have much brighter shades of color around/on their faces than the Females paler shades of colors).
I use to think it was bad but then met someone who lost their bird in MT and I live there as well and a panick flight can cost the life of your most precious flying friend.
Cutting a birds feathers is not abuse they grow back amd its a safety thing too cause they can hurt their or kill them selves
Thank you for your advice I have the same species of birds the girls name is nova and boys name is fluffy
You are welcome. I like the name fluffy, it describes very accurate this species of birds😁😁
Thank you
This is my baby lovebird his name is Rainbow
I LOVE UR VIDEOS!!!
Is my bird okay my lovebird poops alot
Bro, ești din Moldova?
I wish more people understood this. I live in the city area and live on the 7th floor, my bird will most likely get caught in the fan, eat dust on top of shelves, get caught in barbed wire fences outside or get hit by traffic or WORSE, so it is honestly for her safety and more.
A lot of people keep saying dont do it but they dont understand different situations
Cool video bro just bought one today
what happens if you had that kind of bird and a bite
pro tip:trim your bird's wings first and train him and when his wings grow he is flight trained
Yeah, but it's good to give them the option to fly away. If you can't read the bird's body language, they can just show you they're not happy with you sticking your hand near them yet. Please don't clip your birds wings. It takes away their safety and their identity. What is a bird if they can't fly?
@@Fluffadoodle I will have you know my bird identifies as a rock. HOW DARE YOU MISIDENTIFY MY BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the same colour and can you tell me how to find out the gender?
Its a little hard.
So cutting their feathers 🪶 is like cutting their hair? But what changes does it have on their flight? And do you recommend any more videos on training birds?😊❤❤
Good advice…. :)
i agree with you bro no harm done
Hey. I had budgies now I have got my love birds. Is it safe to trim their flying wings? I am afraid if they get sick.
Take him with you and rush B 😁 hahaha
Thanks for sharing with us this informations
@@nocomment4642 >If a toddler is trying to walk and falls over, we do not think ' Oh let's chop it's legs off
unlike legs, a feather grows back out
> give the bird time , in a sfe place to learn to fly
the bird will have learned how to fly if you let them out of the cage clipped too, as their feathers grow back they will slowly go from not able to fly, to somewhat flying and learning with their feathers growth
Love to see your lovebird... cool color....
Very useful video I am going to try it to my yellow African parrots
The third one 3:40 LMAO
Your love bird is male or female?

What is the lovebirds name?
Loki. But is a girl.
Yes ok it's good for us to cut their wings because they don't gonna fly away hitting themselves...but birds need to be free and fly whenever they want!
