This is the second story in Issue 50 of Archie's Megaman Comics.
Megaman is training to beat Sigma when X joins him. The two learn alittle more about each other and why they fight

I don't blame X for quitting.
Being completely honest, Megaman has FAR better moral support than X does.
His best friend and only confidant was created to KILL him, and on top of that has been dead TWICE for months over, not to mention the entire planet was almost wiped out. That's too much for ANYONE fr, and even tho the other hunters probably treated him decently(Alia comes across as super caring for him), the fact doesn't change that anytime megaman is down, he always has others to bring him up.
X doesn't get that luxury, during X6, mans was having whole nightmares about his best friend and nobody helped him through it.
Even more, Megaman is PROGRAMMED to help others, X has complete free will, so it's more voluntary he chooses to fight. Being forced to fight and signing up for it are 2 completely different things.
To me X is better...he is more human, actually reploids have souls, in some way i consider X a living being

It just shows how lucky Rock is. Wily may be a threat, but compared to Sigma, the fights aren't as life threatening. Wily may have threatened lives, created weapons of destruction and even pitted Rock against his own brothers and sister, but Sigma literally murdered his own kind, his own brethren, and tried to wipe out an entire planet.
X's decision to retire by X7 was justified here. If only the same could be said within the actual game.

All the robot masters could be rebuilt, they were just programmed by wily, but as for X? Hes basically killing his own kids with no way to bring them back. Sigma can turn ANYONE against him at any time he wants, and his best friend and only true confidant was a super weapon designed to kill him.
My problem with X7 is that we got no official cutscene of X explaining why he was tired. Because trust and belive, he is. And I dont blame him. I just wish we got more out of that route through cutscenes. Even having X as a navigator in the game. But as the game progresses, X starts changing his mind.

He HAD to bring up the MMX7 events, uh? The way the writers built X's backstory makes me realize how X's so much more alike Rock than we tought.
While the story DOES get messy, I actually understand X retiring for a time. What's more is that Rocks support circle is much better than Xs. Rock is programmed with the desire to help, X has free will, but chooses to help voluntarily. And while rocks brothers can be rebuilt after wily is stopped, Xs "children" cant be rebuilt after they are destroyed.
Rock has it much easier than X, but I love both shiny bois💪🏾

@@Lemuel928 Rock and X are two separate Robots. Sure their creator is Dr. Light but other then their design that's all they have in similar. Plus Rock was programmed to help others but X was programmed with his own morals and freewill to choose.

I feel bad for X. In a way, his argument isn't wrong. By him being found by Dr. Cain, they created the Rrploid Race: which I would like to remind everyone, are FULLY-SAPIENT Robots that are NOT bound by the 3 Laws of Robotics.
That said, I won't shift all the blame to X. Later on, its moreso Zero, or rather the intent behind his construction. Zero as a person isn't evil, but he was built to cause so much devastation along with the Zero Virus that was implanted in his stasis pod.
Which then festered in Sigma when he was infected and turned it into the now infamous Sigma/Maverick virus.
X, Zero, and Sigma are equally responsible for the havoc that is inflicted in the future in some way, shape or form.
Actually this is am Wily's fault I mean he made Zero and the Virus If anyone played attention one would notice X was actually made to stop zero

I absolutely loved this part of the Archie comic. I'd go so far as to call it my favorite part. Especially when Mega Man tells X not to resent his own existence and says he's reassured knowing X is around in the future to protect the world if Mega himself isn't. Sniff...just gets me right in the feels.
The part where X mentions that Mega never lost sight of his reason for fighting feels a little ironic to me, as I could have seen Mega indeed attempting to retire from combat himself after trying to kill Wily at the end of MM7, in the beginning of a theoretical _Mega Man VI_ (as in the side series that appeared on the Game Boy). The story I had in mind:
After defeating Wily and attempting to eliminate him, Mega wishes to retire from combat out of fear that his programming is becoming unstable. Light's new protege and nephew builds a new and improved Mega Man called Mega Man EX to fight for everlasting peace in Rock's place, allowing the robot boy to retire to his old life of helping his dad in the lab. EX sports superior offense, defense, mobility, and processing, making him even more effective at combat than his predecessor. At first, EX does a great job of stopping Wily's ambitions, but then he announces to the world that he plans to "eliminate" Wily himself, which would violate the First Law of Robotics, the very issue that prompted Mega to retire in the first place. Mega Man steps back into the field to stop his intended successor from harming Wily, and in the process finds the will to fight again.
I would discount the mm7 one because that part was heavily changed in the international version compared to the Japanese version where megaman hesitated realizing he can't. And compared to everything else it clashes with who megaman is. Plus if the American thing is supposedly canon why didn't he try to kill wily again in 8, 9, 10, or 11 even if he supposedly could.
@@axltheriolu8791 I like the Western version more as it gives Mega Man more agency. I think the idea that Mega Man _isn't_ a total slave to his programming makes for a more compelling story. "I am more than just a robot!" carries so much more weight to it than "..." It asserts the idea that Mega Man is more than a servant - or a weapon, as Wily doubtless sees him. The idea that he's hesitating when threatening to shoot Wily rather than just being told "No, you can't, you're a robot" speaks volumes more about how much his moral code means to him, plus it's more in-keeping with a robot who's exercising enough autonomy to threaten Wily in the first place.
As for why he didn't try it again in later games, while it's perfectly possible Light patched up his code to avoid such an incident, it's also possible that Mega Man's choosing not to repeat that course of action because of how close it came to violating his principles. He had a "What did I almost do!?" moment and vowed not to let himself suffer a moment of weakness like that again.
At any rate, the writers already went with the idea that Light and Wily built the original Robot Masters together, which itself originated in the West; in the original Japanese story, the MM1 Robot Masters were all Light, and Wily merely stole and reprogrammed them after he found Proto Man and discovered how Robot Masters work while repairing him.
i guess they are similar in a way.
they're blue, they fought bad robots, and they had to take down a red guy once.
and their antagonist won't stop coming back.
Megaman and X are a lot more similar than they realize.
I find it awesome to see X working alongside his predecesor, Megaman in a big way and not through a final smash alongide .EXE,Starforce, Volnutt and the Original in Smash Bros, or as a Spirit in Smash Ultimate.
Who knows? It could technically happen in canon.
For example, with X9, X,Zero and Axl managed to located in another abandoned lab(not the lab Ground Scaravich or as QG calls him shit beetle broke into) 4 stasis pods containing Protoman,Bass,Roll and the Original Megaman outdated yet intact, and with help from Scientists, Megaman,Protoman,Roll and Bass were updated with reploid tech(and immunity to Sigma's virus somehow)
Though unlike the other 3, Roll got training from Alia,Layer and Pallete and became an Operator to assist the Maverick Hunters.
Megaman would have his Chargable Mega Buster and slide back, but would be updated to have the Wall kick,and he is has the double gear system once more, however, without an upgrade from a light capsule, the power gear won't power up special weapons, Megaman can also use light capsules but unlike X, Megaman classic gets a new special weapon once he finds all 4 capsules, the Super Adaptor Armor.
With Protoman, his core is more stable, allowing him to not take double damage, and like Megaman, he can charge his ProtoBuster, slide,wall kick, and comes equipped with an updated protoshield which takes some notes from the Mirror buster though any shots that hit the shield strengthen the buster and once enough shot have touched it, The ProtoStrike from powered up is ready to fire and his variable weapons system like Megaman's was updated to be able to copy the special weapons of Maverick reploids that you defeated.
Bass has his rapid fire buster,Double Jump,Dash and once gained from capsules containing Treble's parts,he can use his Treble Boost Armor again, but like Megaman and Protoman, he can now wall kick and his own variable weapon system can copy the special weapons of defeated Maverick Bosses.
A mega man multiverse game where the timelines intersect and the heroes gotta team up against Willey,Sigma Copy X and Serpent with all the robots and reploids in between would be awsome.
Would love to have seen the crossover between the 100 year difference. But I think protoman was nuclear and not much solar powered. Although roll and megaman do recognize x, zero would probably be recognized by protoman. Bass would be a crazy guy once awakened. Resulting in a firefight between megaman and bass before he runs away with treble most likely waiting for a chance to fight a peak condition once he finds one of wily old bases with the nessesary materials for complete repair. Protoman might be shocked to see zero as he had fought him before and lost, but calms down once he sees he’s been fixed by someone else. Protoman does explain that zero was built by dr wily. Megaman might revive roll and rush since they were his friends. He will also explain his past with dr light and how much he fought with dr wily robots. Him being a robot model that was before reploid creation and his prog to help others does impress x. Axl would learn that mega man had a copy chip, but wasn’t originally meant for combat. Sigma might come out of nowhere and engage the group just to get the old data and the other robot masters to work under him, with a new group of powerful reploids engaging the hunters.
I bet that megaman would side with x as he was his newer model who could be trusted as an important ally during that era. Megaman handles the robot masters while the hunters handle sigma. He is warned that protoman is powered by nuclear not solar in which they don’t want to destroy unless it is a last resort. Bass and sigma would of made it to one of wily old bases and reactivate the systems to slow down the group. Obv the hunters would engage the bigger reploids while megaman and protoman handle the smaller reploids machines created just to defeat bass and sigma.
Axl and Bass should’ve been there. It would make a perfect Mega Team.

The comic may have ended in a good place, but man I miss this so much.
Really good voice acting. Was a few hiccups here and there. Like in 2:20, X says “I just… was”, but the voice actor says “I just was”. There was also times where a character interrupts *after* the other character gets interrupted instead of the other way around.

True but ZERO also just exists because Bass stole the blueprints for the X Projects from Dr. Light's Lab and both of them in some way are based on Rock considering that MegaMan X is a beefed up MegaMan too.

love this moment here. X raises a good point because horrific things happen after the classic series from the maverick wars to the enigma crisis to the elf wars. so much pain and suffering has happened because of his creation.
But Rock counters that with an even better point. He was right. doctor wily did have something locked away and that was zero. without X's discovery, dr cain would've never made sigma. That means sigma wouldn't have been able to knock zero out of his insanity, leaving him to be free on the loose causing probably even more pain and destruction.
this whole thing is great and it's an amazing display of Rock and X's Characters and its the kind of stuff we desperately need in the mainline games if capcom ever decides to make them again
But since with no X, there is no Sigma, and by extension, no Reploids, doesn't that mean Zero would forever be locked in his capsule? Unless if by some random misfortune, a poor human finds him.

The fan theories that Zero is the one who killed Mega Man is ominous
Other theory says that all the Robots in Megaman era including Megaman himself have all been decommissioned by the government themselves. All Robots Master function and technology was deemed inferior when they were compared to X era technology so they were decommissioned and later was stop being produced entirely.
Kinda like how all the PET in Battle Network was thrown in the garbage in StarForce after Transer was founded (I'm not joking play StarForce 1 and up till you reach the garbage site area you'll find a bunch of PET got mix in the trash.)
Said by the staff to not be true, canonically Zero was "finished" by Wily at the same time X was by Light and was never activated until Sigma fought him.
Iceberg theory: X universe collides with the classic universe
False but not for the reason you'd expect. A universe can't collide with itself. Every main Mega Man series takes place in the exact same universe but at different points in the timeline, with about 100 years between each series. MMX Command Mission takes place in an alternate timeline branch off of the main timeline but still technically in the same universe up until that point.
Only the Battle Network and Star Force games take place in a different universe.
Since dr wily helped build protoman, would that make zero, protoman, and even bass all brothers?

Besides it’s clear mm leads into x and then mega man zero . And the big plot point ppl don’t dig into enough is at the end of megaman zx advent remember the evil master plan was to “flood the world” we never really got a actual ending it left us at a cliffhanger and since they haven’t continued the series its a solid theory the plan went into fruition and *again* look at how the earth looks in mega man legends barley any land ,that final war blasted the world back a bit in technological advancement and whatever’s left of that era is almost entirely lost .anyway fully connecting the background details of what happened between the huge time gaps is something capcom never did. But In the comics when dr light sees that vision of the future (I won’t go into more detail to avoid spoilers) we got to see some things that would’ve been cool to see in game or be developed into a game for me it’s the transition from mmx-into zero I wanna see how they got thier new body designs and what they had to deal with . The small answer they gave us was they transferred their actual data into the new body’s. Which was explained in game with the whole omega and zero fiasco. Omega may have been the “original body” but zeros actual “conscious” was in the new one

It sets up the idea of what would X say to his older brother and his family if he ever got to meet them.
There IS sumn he's not supposed to know(like how the reploids come from HIM) but in a way it barely changes much as I think he would treat the situations the same way.
I wished wily could've met ZERO in this.
Weeeeeellllll, he kinda did. But the best we got was him just eyeing the Reploids with great interest. Specifically, when he was staring at Zero, he said "That one in particular looks like something I'd build....."

What will happen if there is no X:
Dr. Wily will still build Zero, and there will be no Sigma to knock him into consciousness. So, Zero will let all future robots turn against humanity, and rule the world.
You're also forgetting that no X = no Sigma = no Reploids. So Zero would be trapped in his capsule forever.
@@jinthekingkazama1159 Nah. Reploids can still be built based on Rockman (aka. Megaman).
On the other hand, Zero was built based on Forte (aka. Bass), so with or without X, he will exist anyway.
Also, Zero will be discovered eventually, just not by Sigma.
However, one thing interesting might happen: If Zero is found as the first reploid instead of X, then reploids might be developed very differently.
@@DrPhoenixJKZ So, if Zero is also somehow turned good in this timeline, would he be the main protagonist? Or on the contrary, if he remains evil, could be the antagonist? Because the plot would be very different I believe in this scenario.

Then, a lot of evil reploids get manufactured, and the world gets turned down.
Then, someone finally manages to remove the virus from Zero at the end, and he become the only good reploid in the world, and fights against tons of evil bots.

Well this was just a short back up story in a larger crossover called Worlds Unite that spanned all 3 archie sonic comics and the Megaman ones

dr wily chose industrial robots to hijack and use to take over the world with for a reason... whoever had the money to fund the continued existence of any opposition towards him would be entirely at his mercy without any mechanized workers. john henry beat the rail building machine but it killed him to do so.
I SO wish the Archie comic didn't get canceled.
It was the one comic I was willing to spend money on, and it was a well written love letter to the Mega Man franshise.

90% of this is just recapping what every fan already knows. Anyone could write this story. It only gets a little interesting at nearly the end and that's just one panel with, for the second time in the crossover, a character contemplating suicide.

Well, Archie added some twists on their own.
From those few bits however, it's not even that far off.
Their MegaMan comics were much closer to the source material than their Sonic comics.
