I went to a thrift store with my husband and found a whole bag and kit with about 25 different size cable needles with the key, some of them are marked with their sizes and some aren't. I also have some cables with only one needle attached to long and short cables with a round disc attached marked with the name Boye. Being a beginner at knitting I'm trying to learn all the different sizes and right size needles and yarn to use when making something. These booties and baby hat will be the very first project I will attempt to make for the birth of my first great-great nephew who is due to make his grand entrance in this world in April of 2022. I want to make something that will be maybe a keepsake for him and handed down through his family one day. Watching these videos I think I can make him several pairs of booties and hats in all sizes.

I just got into knitting, I tried to follow a pullover tutorial, which I liked, but when it took some shape and I put it on, it looked horrible. I did a gauge swatch too, and it matched what the pattern required, but it turned out horrible. I wonderd why, so I tried to searched it. GIRL YOU SAVED MY SANITY!!! I wish I knew this earlier though, A week of my free time went to trash. But my grandmother always says: "Nobody will ask how much time it took. They will ask who made it." Thank you for this knowledge, I'll appretiate it until I die.

Hmm does this work?, wouldn’t it be different depending on the yarn material?
I say swatch the yarn . Make a 4 by 4 swatch and you will like one of the needle sizes and the fabric it makes. You can cdiss every pair if stitches and make. Cheaper yarn look better, you will need a larger needle size to do this.
