    Stunning!

    Nice video! Btw when you over trim it, the prop 'ventilates' and the boat begins to 'porpoise'.

    What a perfect boat. Do you know if the track system is available for that boat?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hulkhuggett yes I didn’t mention it but it has a system called Alumatrac thats similar to what Lund has. It comes with two slideable brackets for you to screw or affix accessories to such as rod holders. Works great! Thanks for watching sir!

      TheGrumpyFisherman yeah, I'm digging your channel. It has some cool content. I am way on the other side of the continent than, in central/South Texas. You have a lot of fish we don't have here. Do you do any catfishing?
      Also, do you know how long that trailer is from tounge to the back? Keep the cool videos coming. And definitely don't be afraid to show more of the boat, more often!

    Not sure if you’re going to answer since its a 4yo video, but what was the car/suv/truck you used to pull this thing with? Im curious because I have a small suv and i am looking to buy a fishing boat, however, towing weight is a BIG issue for me, so im curious to know if my SUV could pull a boat like this.
    Thanks!

      Hi David, I originally had a 2011 Ford Explorer. It did it but with my gear and all, it was severely sunk in the back end and gave me troubles at the launch as well. This boat is borderline, I'd recommend a 1500 pickup or larger SUV. I upgraded to a Sierra a couple of months after getting the boat. Thanks for watching!

    Nice boat. I was thinking of the 175 but how does it get up on plane with more than you in the boat?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      taurus19642007 no issues with 3 adults at all. I run a 4 blade prop so hole shot is awesome regardless of cargo/passengers. The 175 will allow you to go to a 90 hp I believe so maybe go with that its up to you. I don’t care about top speed as much as maneuverability and fuel economy. The 60 merc gets me just over 30 mph with plenty of bottom end power so I am happy! Thanks for watching!

      Thanks for the reply . I may go smaller to get better electronics and electric motor.

    How is the big tiller throttle? Mine is really stiff even with the friction all the way off. When the handle is at 45 degrees up it seems normal but when horizontal it s pretty tough to turn.

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! No issues with my handle at all. Only issue I had with the motor was when new the throttle position sensor went the first time out but the dealer fixed it and nothing since. Love the tiller!

    Why did you get rid of this boat. If speed wasn't a factor would you of keep it?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dealer offered me a deal, and yes I wanted more speed. I miss the tiller though I may not be done yet lol. Thanks for watching!

    Would this boat fit in a standard 2 car garage and still able to park another car?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SBDrockets you need 110 inches for a comfy fit.

    • @SBDrockets
      @SBDrockets 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheGrumpyFisherman 110in = 9.1 ft isn’t the boat about 16ft?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry thought you meant width. Depth I can’t say for sure sorry.

    Has anyone bought a pre-made custom cover for this boat model from places such as go2marine or others? How did it fit, who did you use?

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cover from Alumacraft, while it works good when new, uses plastic clips stitched into the canvas. I can see them beginning to break eventually.

    Did u consider crestliner

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did look yes, it was an extra 100 lbs and I didn't personally like the storage configuration up front. Its mostly a personal choice thing though they have a nice boat too.

      A lot! I got a good trade in on my old one plus used some of the parts off of it so I'll say about what you'd expect it to cost. Exchange doesn't help... but as I always say, best money I ever wasted!

    Just thought I'd let everyone know this boat has NO DRY STORAGE so if you get caught in any rain on the water or it's not tarped everything in those components is going to get wet ,my brother has one ,he says it a boat with 8 live wells so think about that before you put down your hard earned cash

    My Lund Alaskan 1800 goes bout 30 too. I was looking at trading for a 16 footer but think I’ll try and cut some weight out of it. I got the Bluetooth mercury vessel view for my phone and that’s a pretty neat toy. Showed me anyway that my prop was correct.

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman

      Running the 4 blade I realize I lost a tiny bit at the top end. When it was new they gave it to me with a 4 blade 15p and it was hitting 33mph, but rpms were only hitting 5000. I may try a 14p 3 blade this summer just to see what happens but the lower pitch also allows slower trolling and better hole shot so really I'm splitting hairs at the end of the day...

    • @nomadchad8243
      @nomadchad8243 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGrumpyFisherman I have the command thrust bigger bottom end but I think 60Hp is 60Hp. My prop is 14"x13p I think Ill try a four blade 14x13p this summer. My rpms are 6000. I would like to reduce my time to plane.

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nomadchad8243 yes i have exact same motor and exact same results. The 4 blade will get you what you're looking for mine planes with that same pitch prop and loaded with 3 guys in just a few seconds.

    My 16.3 with a 50 Yamaha tiller does 39 mph. Doesn't make sense.

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is a 16.3? Also what prop/pitch do you have? I have a friend with a 115 that only gets up to 45 mph, your speed projection seems pretty high for a 50 on any boat but well done.

    • @patriotofgod9827
      @patriotofgod9827 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alumacraft 16 foot 3 inches. 2006 with a 2007 50 four stoke fuel injected Yamaha tiller. Stock prop. 39 mph on the gps. I have actually never seen the same model anywhere. There's no paint. The trim has a lot to do with it.
      My boat is probably quite a bit lighter than yours as well.
      I don't have the same interior. Quite a bit less decking.

    • @TheGrumpyFisherman
      @TheGrumpyFisherman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patriot OfGod weight and size are definitely part of it. I have a 4 blade with a lower pitch, mine is set up more for low end hole shot. I am sure if I went to a three blade with a higher pitch it would add a bit, but your boats dry weight is likely under 500 lbs its just an aluminum shell. I also have a huge amount of gear, three huge batteries and a 17 gallon tank of fuel. Lots of variables for sure.
