Nice video man. I've played over 5000 hours of dayz on console and just recently got a pc and started playing arma 3 survival. For me it's way more what I think dayz should be like on down side is the low player count maybe that's due to the difficulty of just figuring everything out. There is a nice wiki page that definitely helps though. Also I use the A3 launcher to join the sever.

Arma 3 Exile was the pinnacle of 'DayZ' type survival - I was playing these games back in 2012 - 2015 and the player numbers were booming, so I think you will be years too late by now although there's still a couple of popular servers going. I would highly recommend the Exile mod although it's not longer in development it is miles ahead of DayZ standalone.
I have honestly never enjoyed arma 3 dayz. it misses the mark for me everytime and i think thats due to arma 3's mechanics and gameplay just feel so bogged down. Arma 2 DayZ was 100 times better and current dayz is still better imo. I do think modern dayz lacks a certain atmosphere and feel that it use to have. specifically the early days of the standalone. 2014 to 2017 dayz standalone was, atleast for me, the best experience i've had with the title. it was clunky and buggy but it had soul and didnt cater too anyone. it was a survival pvp game first and foremost. no bullshit. it was TWD. it threw players into a world and forced them to interact. and you never knew who was friendly who wasn't. modern DayZ is just way too casual IMO and caters to both play styles to much. you wanna sit in your base and never come out? you can. you wanna KOS all the time? you can. where as early standalone had no base building and forced players to interact due to nothing else to do. thats why old dayz videos feel so different and have way more organic story driven concepts. the player base was much much different because the game was much much different
Wow man, this is so true. Arma 3 Survival is in my opinion, the only thing that really comes close to the original Standalone, but it's hard to replicate the feelings you had when playing DayZ years earlier. It was truly special, and like you said perfectly--had a soul. It just feels like modern DayZ has all of that squeezed out, and we're left with an unidentifiable mess. It depends. For me as total newbie to this game - I am absolutelly thrilled of how it feels when you play it. Especially for me. As you prolly know - the game is inspired by the forrest and small villages from Czech republic and I can relate to that and give them the props. It feels like you are actually in Czech woods. I have the game for about a week or so and I have 45+hours already. It also depends on the server and the comunity. I mean all the crating and additional stuff on moded server makes it better (as friends, who played this since 2013, told me).
Maybe I am missing out as I cannot compare it with true vanilla, but even this form of modern DayZ is amazing and I never played so much since original World of Warcraft. Actually I am kind a bit scared of how much I enjoy it and think about it 24/7 for last couple of days :D
the base building problem is so true. Is this a rust or some other bullshit? Why devs even decided to add base building, it's just fucking stupid. People build bases in ridiculous places, hoard tons of loot and then just seek adventures on their sweaty ass by killing everyone on sight without any fear of losing their loot. Plus it looks cheap and ugly
You are doing the wrong comparison. you are comparing apples and oranges. Comparing Vanilla with ARMA would be fairer. Even DayZ vanilla blows ARMA 3 survival out of the water. Case in point - at the end of you video, it shows you being attacked (kind of) by 5 Z's and they are mostly just standing around waiting for you to shoot them. C'mon man. Where's the danger in that?
You are also doing the wrong comparison, and not approaching it properly my man. Firstly, I have literally already compared vanilla with Arma 3 DayZ. Secondly, A3Survival is objectively better in terms of atmosphere, mood, and realism. DayZ modded doesn't have half of the features A3Survival has in terms of base building (A3Survival has more options for this), the crafting (it's more survivalist and a better system in A3Survival in terms of HUD and the numerous resources you can use opposed to the two in DayZ) and other survival mechanics. The zombies also don't just stand still, and they are more deadly than the infected in DayZ. They can break doors down and offer more of a challenge to the player, as well as almost force you to be stealthy. You can see this in the video (which you obviously didn't watch, but we'll get into that later) for example, and they are much quicker. Just sounds like you're really oppinionated about this subject and that you obviously haven't played A3Survival, or even watched my video, let alone have a good grasp of what the experience is like. If you want to make a point, maybe try to take in other people's opinions or at the very least start with a decent argument with reasonable points.
As I come back to this comment, I realize I was quite harsh, especially with calling you a dumbass, so I apologize for that. I understand your point but honestly, A3Survival is great and I highly recommend you give it a shot.
@@VoidNeon I have given it a shot, and I stand by my assessment that your comparison was subjective and not objective. For me subjectively speaking, Pretty much everything about Reforger including the dayz mod, apart from the better graphics and performance, is terrible.
