From an experienced DayZ player: I can confirm that this video is not scripted (crazy that you had to say this in your video!) 😂 Once you put in the work, playing hours for hours and especially doing research on all the things the game doesn't tell you, surviving (PVE) in DayZ is sooo easy. yes here after..20hrs..offline and PVE to learn the ropes..every small step along the brutal learning curve is rewarding, get just a little bit further each time, then something trips me up - too many zombies at once or a key resource I didn't find. excellent guide, too much to take in all at once, so will need to come back between deaths.
Just bought this game yesterday and I’ve been struggling hard, watching endless videos to help. This video is fantastic, gives clear simple, great advice. Thank you!
Thank you, seriously, other guide videos may show you things such as how to do certain things but you show how the game goes, how the game actually is, with raw, uncut footage which is a thousand times more helpful than some extremely scripted guide.
oi mate! your video has really helped me and I think it covers the main basics or fundamentals for survival - most videos or rather the uploaders of videos have mostly stated that one should avoid zombies - with the usage of izurvive map and picking my fights with zombies carefully I was almost able to make it in-land, survived a night by a campfire and I actually have managed to stay hydrated (that pump thing is burned into my mind) and fed, not even getting sick, using my common sense for the rest - that campfire I made at a forrest during a night to stay warm, after that I have went prone further from the flames and from the light being emitted, in case someone discovers it and thus I would have been able to see them, then I have moved towards a set of hunting cabins just in time to see the wind pick up and thinking, just like in real life "oh it is about to start raining" and hid inside the cabins just in time - survived for 3 hours with decent loot and without even meeting anyone, killing only 25 zombies with a melee weapon - so thank you for finally a proper fundamental start of my absolute, absolute noob DayZ adventure!
Great video and the commentary is not overwhelming. Pleasant to adventure with you along your journey. Highly recommended. I am new to Dayz on ps5 with just over 200 hrs. Very informative! Nice work keep them coming.
Tip for stealth killing Zs: trainers are the quietest type of shoe (besides foot wraps). If you wear them so long as you are not walking on concrete Zs arent likely to hear you. I generally dont wear boots because i find stealthing to be the easiest way to deal with Zs. as long as you stay behind them they are not likely to notice you. Tip for rotten fruit/ Unknown cans: If you watch the bottom right of your screen you can eat rotten fruit or unknown cans until the stomach icon indicating youre full appears, stop eating when it shows then wait a while until it disappears. When it does you can continue eating. You will not get sick if you do this
I'm 10 mins into this and what a great guide, no frills, no bullshit, just good explanations of game mechanics and tips as you would encounter them. Very nice. Thank you.
I’ve just started my first adventure in DayZ with a friend. This is such a great introduction and I feel much less afraid of the eventual respawn loop, thank you!
For a stealth kill, you must slow crouch walk up to the Z from behind. Also, I always keep a stash of bullets that I don't need on me to deal with infected. .22 are great because you can keep a ton of them in one slot. If there are a lot of Zs in my path I'll simply throw one as a distraction.
Just started playing and this is gonna be a big help watching this. Out of all the videos ive watched for beginners this one was by far the best. You touched on everything that you really need to know but other video dont tell you. A big one was getting your sense of direction. I wish I would've watched this before I just died for multiple hours but at least now i wont have such s hard time😂.
These are some great tips! I've got 1600 hours and what I like to do is be as resourceful as possible. Take everything I find. If I change shirts I keep my old one to tear into rags that I may need. I only get rid of things if I no longer need them, find something better, OR find what I've been gathering supplies to craft.
Out of all the guides I’ve watched on this game, this is the greatest and most knowledgeable guide yet. Now I’m confident I’ll survive longer than 30 minutes and make it further inland. 😂 THANK YOU!
Dude, me and my friend were struggling a lot. Always died of diseases, watched all 3 parts and the things got changed. Thank you for your efforts coaching noobs 😂
I'm a experienced player watching just bc i like to see what its like to be new again. idk if you mentioned this or not but guys, if you kill every zombie in your way or kill a lot but not have it take too much time, you can loot all those zombies and they will have all kinds of good things like food, water, knife, backpack, flashlight. also if you found yourself running low on food faster then this guy its because you are sprinting. Its important to only sprint when you need to. You will have to learn to take it slow and just jog.
I love finding stuff like this I played DayZ when it was just a mod years ago I play by myself on my own server because I want to relearn the game I remember when they were first started adding stuff to standalone an when they called it that haha great video bro thanks
I probably will when I get comfortable enough getting shot is my worst fear and even then food is the next your video was helpful though thank you play too much World War Z to even care I played for 2 hours 3 times died gave up you not using the well was wild haha
Thank you. I'm an old guy who likes the concept of the game but I don't have a lot of free time to play. This is a great jump start to help me get the basics figured out so I can have fun.
Haha when you said "i played this map a little to much for comfort" i felt that. When you first spawned in i thought to myself, hey he is about 5 minutes south of berizeno
Hey, man, I just wanna thank you. I remember years ago when I was just a little boy. Watching Dayz onTH-cam for hours and hours in Beta. That was when it was only on the PC. I've never had pc. So I thought me and my friends would never. Ever be able to play now that I'm on adult. I seen it is for counsel. I downloaded it I couldn't wait to play it after watching countless hours of other people play it on TH-cam. When I logged in I hated it. It was so so so Difficult it's still is difficult. I haven't made it one night. But after watching this video I am extremely confident. I will be able to survive at least one day. Thank you for making a Complete complete beginner's guide for the mentally ill like myself haha.
@camcantrun well I deleted the game haha I know it's a fun game for some but after watching it hours as a kid I always imagined it being easier. It's just toooooo hard of a game for me. I starve in 45 mins. Thank you tho great vid
@@GuineaPigLover666I recommend Downloading the iZurvive maps. That way you always know where a fruit tree is and you’ll never starve. Also the buttons on console have a steep learning curve and there’s lots of tricks to make it easier. I recommend looking up a video for console buttons. Keep playing- it gets easier!
Amazing, so informative. I have been watching people play DayZ for years on TH-cam but have never played myself lol. Playing is very different from watching and I had zero clue how to even craft until I watched this video. The fact this was all one edit and you just did thius on the fly is amazing as well! Just subscribed because of this video.
great video, i downloaded the game for me and an old buddy last week.. we're going to jump in for the first time today! this gives us a head start on what we're in for i think... thank you for the video!!
Very rarely do you get a tutorial from a very experienced player, good tips and a really good teachers explaining wise but this hit all the boxes. Amazing tutorial bro
One tip I seldom see on How-To videos is making a stone knife by combining a couple of stones. It's been a while since I made a knife like that, so I hope the tip is still valid. I use hiking trails more than roads, so hiking trails and especially railroad tracks are where I generally see the most stones. Great video , I really enjoyed it. Learned new stuff and was reminded of stuff I had not seen lately. Thank you.
Dude, the commentary, tips, and explanations were top tier! You bring a fun energy to DayZ! I would watch your streams. Did the outro while fighting off a pack of zombies lol! Subbed. You deserve all the best man.
1:12 - that motorcycle helmet you passed up as a fresh spawn... don't do that.... ESPECIALLY since they changed the tier 1 zombie mechanics, and wolf range/aggression. Just don't do that. Always equip the first motorcycle helmet you find. If it has a tinted visor, swap it out with the first clear mask you find. Also, the green variant is great headgear, all the way through late game. It's a great solid olive color, which blends well with most backgrounds, has the 2nd highest projectile armor, and the best melee head armor.
You can attack Zombies from inside a house - via the windows. Use a weapon like a hoe and smack ‘em. Also if you can’t find matches to light a fire I think you can combine tree bark and small stick to ignite fires. I’ve not tried it yet. This video is great stuff. Thank you :)
Thanks a ton. Ive probably played about 10 hours at this point and ive been so lost. With ghe info that i should be keeping my back to the sea im hoping my gaming will be much better
SO happy to hear that my friend, if you want I'd love for you to join the discord. I'm looking for BRAND NEW players that are struggling for a project I'm working on. All love your way.
Thanks for the information I’m thinking of playing and was confused on how to start. You help me understand a lot. All I have to do is figure out my Xbox controller. Thank again
Thank you for making this video. I am not a novice to DayZ, but still have room for improvement. I do want to say, though: if you punch with your bare hands that much, you risk cutting them and contracting an infection. At the very least, you should bind them or find a stick to smack with.
Gloves are good for a number of reasons, but they will not get cuts from punching zombies. only punching objects, like walls, or objects. Also, apprecaite you my friend, thanks for checking the vids ;)
As a new player who's watched a few tips and tricks videos for dayz, this video was incredibly helpful. I knew you could do a lot of the things in this video but I had no idea how. Thanks a lot man 👍
The INSIDE of the supermarket usually sucks, but the cars outside usually have food. You can also craft "bark+stick" to make a .. (Forgot the word: something rudimental to ignite a fire).
Im really glad you made this video, i keep coming back to this vid every time i die, but im steadily making progress every time i do die, so the video for sure is helpful 😅. This game is complicated for fresh meat like me, but the survival aspect is so fun hard.
Literally the best tutorial I've seen. Bought DayZ a while ago, played 80 hours, uninstalled because I was bored and nobody played with me. Also I wasnt finding stuff. Now I am motivated to play again and this video is just it :)
Now that I have studied the playbook l feel a lot more confident about not dying from hunger…again. Thank you for putting your time into this. Very kind of you to be so helpful :)
Just bought the game 15 minutes in and no idea what's happening what's so ever saw a yellow light in the dark in the middle of a field, turns out it was a player... i noticed he was going afk for 15 sec then going back into it and i grabbed a stick followed him around and when the perfect moment came i rushed with the stick while he was afk, punched him like 10 times and then he disappeared 20 sec after that he reappeared and went down on the ground, grabbed his gun and shot him in the head... he had 4 full decked guns and all the stuff you would need to survive knives shovel nails all the meds armour and all that ran away and never turned back, but now the problem is i have no idea how to store the loot so i came here for some tips... i probably hold the world record for the quickest start in the game. btw this was on official server
Another advice is if you can’t find food, find a player and eat him you’ll be set for a while. Also don’t eat food with gloves on as it increases chances of infection. Last but not least don’t forget you can use dirty rags to heal yourself :)
I’ve never played DayZ but I’ve been tempted to lately and honestly, the amount of detail the game has to keep the player immersed is enough to bend my arm. Great vid man, keep it up
Great video, earned yourself a sub. One thing I learned was always check vicinity of well because people drop items often before they drink. Thanks for the help!
This video is exactly what I've been looking for, Thank you so much. It's all well and good watching other creators play but they don't explain what's going on.
This is so underrated! As much as I adore watching the big story-based Dayz players, I didn't learn much from watching them (even on stream) because they go so fast. Very helpful, thank you
I just started playing dayz and had a run like this with a friend of mine everything was going well we went all the way up north to the military base had decent guns enough food/ drinks and even medicin. We got run over by zombies and wolves in the military base knocked me out twice we ended up using all of our ammo to somehow survive then I got corned in a building and blocked in by 4 zombies and died 😂 Edit: we also didn’t find shit in the military base just parts and ammo for guns we didn’t even have….
A couple more tips to add: 6 rags combined with 6 rags = 1 rope 1 long stick + rope = fishing rod 1 unit of bones (from animals or player corpses) + knife = bone fishhook Dig for worms, then add to your bone fish hook to make fishing bait, add the bait to your fishing rod, then cast over a body of water to fish. Clean fish with knife then add the fish pieces to a sharpened long stick to get ready to roast over a campfire/portable gas stove. All you need to get started with fishing are bones, a knife, and some rags. If you have ammo that you don't mind wasting on zombies and are being chased by a horde, climb on top of a car/pallet/cement block and stand in the middle of whatever you climbed on. Zombies don't climb so you can then take your time headshotting them. Water in the water bottles can be unsafe to drink, but not always. When in doubt use chlorine tablets or drink from a well. Do not eat long pig/people meat because you'll get Kuru which will eventually make you laugh uncontrollably, thereby giving away your position to zombies/other players. Other players are not your friends, but not everyone is out to kill you and steal your bones. If you don't have gloves, wash your hands before you eat or risk disease. Rags can be crafted into various improvised clothing, so for example if you can't find gloves, you could make some from rags. Lockpicks cannot be repaired, so if you're gonna settle down, make sure you get that combo lock gate up before your lockpick breaks. One more thing I was surprised wasn't in the video was the hand drill. Want a campfire, but have no matches? No lighter?, no road flare? Equip a knife, cut some bark off a tree, and grab a long stick. Craft short sticks from the long stick, then combine bark and stick to make a hand drill kit. Don't try to light a campfire outside when it's raining, because it won't light, and even if it did, it would go out. If you decide to settle down, invest in farming. Grab some seeds and equip a shovel/hoe/pickaxe, then "choose placement" on a patch of dirt. Once your plot is down, add seeds to each of the 9 squares. Water the seeds, and eventually you'll have fresh veggies.
Thank you so much for this video, it was very helpful. I played once Dayz but left it bcuz i didnt understand anything and im barely starting again, just getting the hang of it and this video helped me learn alot faster, loving this game now 😁
Jump cut in the clip, it was due to low water and once his body had water it took time for the status effect to go away. He just skipped ahead because 10 mins of waiting for that to go away would be boring to watch.
Hey dude thanks for the guide! I just picked up DayZ for Christmas and I'm looking to get into it with my spouse. We play on PC but we also play with controller. I'm wondering if this game supports controller on PC? What is the functionality of DayZ on controller?
Hello my friend, I do know that my friend plays with a specially made controller as a result of his disability, but I don't believe the controller can be used on PC for a similar experience to playing on console. My recommendation, struggle together on low pop servers with mouse and keyboard and give yourself a week to get familiar and you'll not even think about it after that. If you have a special case ie: a disability let me know and I'll get you connected with my friends :)

you are the sole reason im getting this game, i wasnt sure about getting the game before but now i am definitely getting it
I hope you have the most fun my friend.
yes here after..20hrs..offline and PVE to learn the ropes..every small step along the brutal learning curve is rewarding, get just a little bit further each time, then something trips me up - too many zombies at once or a key resource I didn't find. excellent guide, too much to take in all at once, so will need to come back between deaths.
Just bought this game yesterday and I’ve been struggling hard, watching endless videos to help. This video is fantastic, gives clear simple, great advice. Thank you!
Hell yeah, happy for you my friend.
How’s it going?
@@heidi9569 i bought this game today and im struggling too😅
Thank you, seriously, other guide videos may show you things such as how to do certain things but you show how the game goes, how the game actually is, with raw, uncut footage which is a thousand times more helpful than some extremely scripted guide.
oi mate! your video has really helped me and I think it covers the main basics or fundamentals for survival - most videos or rather the uploaders of videos have mostly stated that one should avoid zombies - with the usage of izurvive map and picking my fights with zombies carefully I was almost able to make it in-land, survived a night by a campfire and I actually have managed to stay hydrated (that pump thing is burned into my mind) and fed, not even getting sick, using my common sense for the rest - that campfire I made at a forrest during a night to stay warm, after that I have went prone further from the flames and from the light being emitted, in case someone discovers it and thus I would have been able to see them, then I have moved towards a set of hunting cabins just in time to see the wind pick up and thinking, just like in real life "oh it is about to start raining" and hid inside the cabins just in time - survived for 3 hours with decent loot and without even meeting anyone, killing only 25 zombies with a melee weapon - so thank you for finally a proper fundamental start of my absolute, absolute noob DayZ adventure!
Hell yeah my friend, keep going tell me how the journey ends.
this has seriously been one of the most helpful and best presented tutorial ive seen yet man! thank you!!
Happy it helped my friend.
Great video and the commentary is not overwhelming. Pleasant to adventure with you along your journey. Highly recommended. I am new to Dayz on ps5 with just over 200 hrs. Very informative! Nice work keep them coming.
Appreciate you my friend!
You will not get sick if you do this
For someone who watches you run this ISH! I just learned so much on how things work in game. Great job CAM!👏👏
I'm 10 mins into this and what a great guide, no frills, no bullshit, just good explanations of game mechanics and tips as you would encounter them. Very nice. Thank you.
Nobody likes bullshit in a tutorial :) Care about ya, enjoy!
Happy 10 years DAYZ! Good video as always Cam 🎉
I’ve just started my first adventure in DayZ with a friend. This is such a great introduction and I feel much less afraid of the eventual respawn loop, thank you!
Good luck out there. Pro tip walking on grass instead of the road also makes your footwear last longer 😂👍
Throwing a bullet as a distraction is amazing thank you!
Being brand new to this game and trying to figure the game quickly. The history was a good video. Thanks for the help man.
Care about you dudddeee
Pretty much sums up my first 500 hours of discovery! Exceptionally well rounded intro guide.
Out of all the guides I’ve watched on this game, this is the greatest and most knowledgeable guide yet. Now I’m confident I’ll survive longer than 30 minutes and make it further inland. 😂 THANK YOU!
Super helpful, just started today! Thanks for this mate.
Big love, happy to hear it's helping!
Thank you for this! Watched so many videos but this one has been super helpful!
This is honestly the best dayz first start video because I’ve been STRUGGLING playing this game
Hell yeah my friend, happy to hear it worked for you!
We all struggle in the beginning. This game was not created for the faint of heart or young children.
Dude, me and my friend were struggling a lot. Always died of diseases, watched all 3 parts and the things got changed. Thank you for your efforts coaching noobs 😂
“Liam neeson, from the walking dead” had me laughing so hard 😂
Great video buddy, you should continue this series!
Happy to get a giggle my friend.
Happy it helped, highly recommend finding a low pop and jamming out
I probably will when I get comfortable enough getting shot is my worst fear and even then food is the next your video was helpful though thank you play too much World War Z to even care I played for 2 hours 3 times died gave up you not using the well was wild haha
Thank you. I'm an old guy who likes the concept of the game but I don't have a lot of free time to play. This is a great jump start to help me get the basics figured out so I can have fun.
i have played for years , but what a great video for new players, very well explained
Thank my friend! :D
Brother, first off.... Welcome :) i hope you know you don't struggle alone. I hope you have the most fun jamming and let me know how the journey goes.
@camcantrun well I deleted the game haha I know it's a fun game for some but after watching it hours as a kid I always imagined it being easier. It's just toooooo hard of a game for me. I starve in 45 mins. Thank you tho great vid
@@GuineaPigLover666I recommend
Downloading the iZurvive maps.
From one small channel to another, great content. Awesome thumbnail!🎉
Keep it up!
Thanks my friend
As someone new to dayz I gotta say your video was super helpful and really easy to understand. You deserve way more followers!!
great video, i downloaded the game for me and an old buddy last week.. we're going to jump in for the first time today! this gives us a head start on what we're in for i think... thank you for the video!!
Hell yeah, hope you and your friend are having a blast.
Very rarely do you get a tutorial from a very experienced player, good tips and a really good teachers explaining wise but this hit all the boxes. Amazing tutorial bro
Awesome video bro, I got almost 500 hours on the game but I learned so much from this. Thanks for the tips!
I'm so happy it helped! :)
Thank you.
Finally, someone i can understand fallow along, frlm the bottom of my heart thank you thank you thank you
Hey Eric, care about you brother. Happy to hear this helped!
Thanks for the video!!!! I downloaded the game yesterday and couldn’t survive the hunger, this video helps a lot
Same bro 😂
Great vid, played for my first time today, I like the way you narrate and speak bro!
Big love Kaeleb, appreciate the kind words my friend. Enjoy the adventure!
Thanks man I’ve just downloaded the game because my mates recommended me it, THIS VIDEO HAS HELPED SO MUCH :)
You can attack Zombies from inside a house - via the windows. Use a weapon like a hoe and smack ‘em. Also if you can’t find matches to light a fire I think you can combine tree bark and small stick to ignite fires. I’ve not tried it yet. This video is great stuff. Thank you :)
Tree bark + small stick = hand drill, ez fire starter
You are a fantastic teacher. Which requires more skill than just hours in the game. I just got started and definitely appreciate it
Thanks a ton.
Bro I love this. Barely started getting into the game again and this was a whole sleuth of knowledge I didn’t have. lol
Thanks for the information
I’m thinking of playing and was confused on how to start.
You help me understand a lot. All I have to do is figure out my Xbox controller. Thank again
So happy it helped. All the best my friend!
Thanks for the tips. I start this weekend
Ok, thank you for correcting me! And my pleasure.@@camcantrun
As a new player who's watched a few tips and tricks videos for dayz, this video was incredibly helpful. I knew you could do a lot of the things in this video but I had no idea how. Thanks a lot man 👍
yea game does nothing to explain the controls or anything else.
The INSIDE of the supermarket usually sucks, but the cars outside usually have food.
You can also craft "bark+stick" to make a .. (Forgot the word: something rudimental to ignite a fire).
Hand drill kit 👍 absolute life saver those things 😂
Im really glad you made this video, i keep coming back to this vid every time i die, but im steadily making progress every time i do die, so the video for sure is helpful 😅. This game is complicated for fresh meat like me, but the survival aspect is so fun hard.
Literally the best tutorial I've seen. Bought DayZ a while ago, played 80 hours, uninstalled because I was bored and nobody played with me. Also I wasnt finding stuff. Now I am motivated to play again and this video is just it :)
So happy it's helping you my friend!
This was a fantastic video. So excited to get off my shift today and give it another go
45 min. and no rain?? is this DayZ?
Now that I have studied the playbook l feel a lot more confident about not dying from hunger…again. Thank you for putting your time into this. Very kind of you to be so helpful :)
Just got the game!! Im learning a lot! Thank you so much!! 😊
So happy this is helping
Man I've got about 50 hours so far and I just watched this whole video because you are so entertaining! Awesome.
Thanks Zach, happy you enjoyed it! :)
Notice how you payed and I got it for free 😭
@@KILLAZ091lame ass response
Take nails unwrap them craft planks out of logs with saw put nails in hand build wood crate 👍
@@KILLAZ091🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the in real time learning rather than quick tips this is much better than other tip videos I’ve seen
Another advice is if you can’t find food, find a player and eat him you’ll be set for a while. Also don’t eat food with gloves on as it increases chances of infection. Last but not least don’t forget you can use dirty rags to heal yourself :)
I love it.
10000% care about you thanks for the tip!
This video is exactly what I've been looking for, Thank you so much. It's all well and good watching other creators play but they don't explain what's going on.
That Thumbnail is Better Than All of My Content Together 😂 Genius!
Not likely bro, care about you.
We got run over by zombies and wolves in the military base knocked me out twice we ended up using all of our ammo to somehow survive then I got corned in a building and blocked in by 4 zombies and died 😂
Edit: we also didn’t find shit in the military base just parts and ammo for guns we didn’t even have….
Guns are tough to find, but the journey and the struggles are what make the journey the best.
As a brand new player with various other videos watched, this video has been my favorite. Thanks man
I'm no noob anymore so I didn't learn anything new but I still enjoyed this video. You have that cool teacher vibe.
Hahhaa, I am a teacher IRL so everything is adding up. Thankyou my friend, happy you enjoyed.
Thanks, this should be a first thing that people should watch before playing dayz.
ahhh the memories this is the game that started it all.
This is the third beginners guide to dayz I've watched and I'm only now finding out about the scroll wheel thing.
Best guide ever.
A couple more tips to add:
6 rags combined with 6 rags = 1 rope
1 long stick + rope = fishing rod
1 unit of bones (from animals or player corpses) + knife = bone fishhook
Dig for worms, then add to your bone fish hook to make fishing bait, add the bait to your fishing rod, then cast over a body of water to fish.
I played once Dayz but left it bcuz i didnt understand anything and im barely starting again, just getting the hang of it and this video helped me learn alot faster, loving this game now 😁
erm how did the illness just disappear ?
Possibly hACKZ, possibly just let it go.
Jump cut in the clip, it was due to low water and once his body had water it took time for the status effect to go away. He just skipped ahead because 10 mins of waiting for that to go away would be boring to watch.
I genuinely enjoyed this vid. 1600hrs player right here but you never stop learning new things.
Brilliant video.Thanx for taking time to help the noobs :)
NOOBS UNITE, all the best!
Lesson 1; dont trust anyone
