    The "baby" engine has the same hp rating as a 440 magnum. One of the most iconic muscle car engines of the era. Anyone who calls a stock car that runs in 13's lazy, is crap car reviewer.

      Totally Agree!!!!

    I enjoyed my RT Shaker for years, nothing slow about it, I just craved the Challenger 392, and upgraded a year ago. I never listen to Trolls or negative reviews when I know that Challengers are badass at any V8 Trim. Don't listen to reviews, drive the car you are into, whatever that may be.

  • @RTLife
    @RTLife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    The baby engine - that's funny. For the price of the 5.7L & the wide variety of after market parts it's worth getting the baby hemi. These 5.7L are very cheap to buy & easy to modify even without voiding your warranty.

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      my baby 5.7L v8 is lugging around 4300lbs & getting 0-60 in 5.0 & 1/8 mile in 8.7 seconds - I wouldn't really call that lazy.

      @campanelli8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      R/T Life I wanna slap this guy baby engine my ass that Hemi 5.7 is a beast any Hemi for that matter if you wanna talk about baby engine then you must be talking about the V6 base Challenger cause this beast eats up the road and by the way I drove up against an 2010 srt challenger and you know what I was right on his ass so baby engine no way. If you have a Hemi then you definitely made to the show.

      Larcon Pritzle guy what are babbling about. I stopped reading after "LMAO" - do us all a favor & upload a video of your car. Let's see what kind of car & times you're putting up. Until then your opinion is crap & means nada. Just keyboard noise

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Also if you want to be a clown about it. Dodge offers the RT at a great price to get people in & lists the HP lower then what it actually is (dyno results consistently show 345-350whp which would be around 395hp). In an effort to help RT owners they offer stage kits to upgrade as you get money for extra HP. Say what you want about the RT but it offers something the camaro ss/mustang GT's don't, that's space & affordability. I have a 400K house with 3 cars so it was nice getting an RT for $275/month rather then an SRT $425/month when all I do 95% of the time is sit in bumper to bumper traffic. Haha fat people car says it all about you man. It's a big boys car... upload a video you clown, show us all how cool you are.

    I had a real Trans Am in 1979....big car. Back when we thought 190 HP was a lot....375 HP isn't a "baby" engine to me. But he did a great job on the video, you really can't describe the feeling in words. It's like time traveling back to the days of my youth when I'm behind the wheel of mine. Same car, red.

    Hey Chad, I appreciate your review. Might be purchasing a yellow 2017 T/A shortly. Test drove a God-ugly gray one two weeks ago and like yourself, could not get the grin off my face! And that 5.7 is plenty fast enough to get me in trouble. My biggest challenge is going to be to calm my aggressive lane-changing tendencies. Anyway, thanks again for the passionate review.

    The car handles great actually. It is not a track car. It is a GT car. Aston Martins, BMW's, Mercedes, even a Lamborghini Aventador all weigh over 4000 lbs in their GT cars. Having said that, the mustang is 3800 lbs which is 300 lbs more than your station wagon, fyi. I had an S60R, that car weighed 3380lbs, manual version. Having said THAT, the Chally and charger are about being fricken awesome, about putting a smile on your face, about feeling good, and about doing the most American of American things... putting down mile after mile after mile without fatigue or discomfort. You hit the nail on the head. I've done almost 9k miles in my 2017 scat 392 M6 and I haven't experienced one boring, tiring, or ill fated mile yet. Thanks for the Vid!

    I own a 2017 Challenger T/A with the 5.7 and a 6spd. It is such a blast to drive. It really is a unique experience. If owned an 2005 STi 300whp 331wrq and a 06 Evo IX 531whp 425wtq. All 3 are amazing and unique. There is just something about this T/A that just brings a smile to my face.

    You are right about those cars putting a smile on your face. I own a 2017 Mustang V-6 and had an opportunity a couple of months ago to test drive a Challenger TA 392 with the 6.4 and a stick shift. Man, that thing was beast! I didn't end up buying it, however, I will be talking about that test drive until the day comes when I take a dirt nap.

    picked one up in TorRed back in january and i've never been happier with a car. these things are from slow, you always have enough power to do what you want, and then some. people thumbs up and smile at you just for driving by. i've spent ridiculous amounts of money on gas but every single penny is worth it. Cheri puts a smile on my face every single time i sit inside. love her to death. if you're in the muscle market, do not hesitate with a T/A or T/A 392. these things are really slept on.

    Great video! 5.7 L Hemi manual in R/T (or T/A?) is my dream (though GT AWD I drive is not bad too...)
    Challenger is really about the smile on your face, and also on the faces of others who understand:-)

  • @01TA
    @01TA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You really nailed it with the "feeling of old car muscle". It is why I bought my 2020 R/T as it brought me back to my 1st gen 'Cuda. Complete muscle car feel with performance that matches the 1st gen 440/426 engines. Yes, the 5.7 Hemi has 0-60 and 1/4 mile times that are extremely close. I would not call that lazy at all. Also, the optional performance suspension package ($1,595) allows the R/T to handle like the SS or GT of the competitors. These Challengers are the perfect muscle car, from looks to performance.

  • @scottandrews4822
    @scottandrews4822 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a 2023 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 Widebody 6 speed manual and I think it handles great! The Widebody package does make a huge difference with the 6 piston/4 piston (f/r) Brembo brakes and the Competition Suspension. I like it even better than the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V BLACKWING that I had - mainly because of the increased interior space and the SOUND, as you mentioned. Great car!! Please drive a 392 Widebody T/A Challenger and do a video - it's a totally different experience from the 5.7L T/A. Totally!

      @Cody Hall T/A has both cosmetic and performance upgrades over R/T.
      For '17, '18 T/A 5.7 (345 ci)
      1. 0.5 inch lowered front suspension
      2. Air-catcher headlamps(Headlamps with holes) that channels air into the cold air intake directly
      3. Stock Cold air intake (Only on T/A & Shaker)
      4. Stock active exhaust (vs. '15,'16 R/T)
      5. Limited slip differential
      6. Satin black painted hood
      7. Satin black wrapped roof & trunk
      8. White guages (only on T/A, Demon, and Shaker trims)
      9. Stock 20x9 forged aluminum wheels
      10. Hoodpins (stock options)
      11. The legendary retro satin black side decals
      T/A without side decals ain't T/A. U know it.

      @Cody Hall i forgot to.mention.the most important aspect of T/A; its rarity. It's much rarer than Hellcat & scat pack. You really seldom see other T/A on the road.

    • @transam1870
      @transam1870 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Cody Hall unfortunate :( cuz T/A looks even more retro with the hoodpins. Installing them aftermarket costs about 500 bucks. It used to be $295 up until early 2018, but it got bumped up to $425 starting from late 2018. Dont know why

    • @randallmontejano7787
      @randallmontejano7787 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because aerodynamics that's why. You can always get an aftermarket t/a hood but even then it should have came from factory like that

  • @vnishpt7036
    @vnishpt7036 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This video was cool old school (in addition the TA). Informative & fun as the driver's natural enthusiasm was awesome. Yellow jacket is the best looking color I've seen in person on the TA as the contrast with the satin black just jumps out it you. Only color I have not seen in person in a TA is white knuckle, which I'm biased towards in the Challenger otherwise. I'm probably in the minority but the RT hood is still my favorite as pure old school Challenger. IMO Dodge should have given the TA its own original hood scoop more aligned with the 1970 TA rather than using the SRT 392 hood. TA is the best looking Challenger IMO but the Scat Pack is still the best bang for the buck. Peace...

    It’s hard to understand if you don’t have one. I have 2014 shaker 5.7. It’s not the fastest but it’s plenty fast. I’m not racing anybody so who gives a shit. It also handles GREAT for a car of it’s size. It also has plenty of room. I’m 6-2 and have room to spare AND I can actually fit a couple of adults in the back seat. And it’s the only muscle car with a useable trunk. These things matter when it’s an every day driver. Oh yeah, I’ve done this a bunch of time now. Put the cruise control on and I’ve gotten 28mpg over a 400 mile trip! When I beat on it it plummets down to 13. But the whole point is that that it’s fun to drive, as fast as I want it to go, comfortable, has plenty of room, and had a great retro muscle car look. I love it!

  • @lylereinier4989

    Anyone that says the new challenger can’t corner and it’s only good for going in a straight line, is not a true driver. The challenger can hold its own in the corners, it’s all on the driver. Sure it’s not a Mustang or some sporty car because it’s not. The challenger is a open road car, just like it was meant to be back in 70-74. A business mans muscle car, with the power to make your A hole pucker and your short hair stand up. All with a nice comfy interior and a great soundtrack from the pipes. I happen to own a SRT 392, and it’s a great road car and does a great job in the corners. A well rounded do it all car. Just my two cents

    i am so tired of the " Its a enormous vehicle" everybody wants to get on board with how big the car is and how much it weighs... The problem is people get in the "Musclecar" and want it to perform like a formula one car which it is not designed to do. This is the only real "Musclecar !!! " out there... and the big LAZY V8 is 345 cu in !! The camaro and mustang have always been compared to the challenger and yes they did compete in the T/A races etc and all were classified as PONY CARS but have always been in their own league and all three were awesome american hot rods..

    Well that particularity one is based on the RT, so it's not going to have the better SRT suspension or interior and do not handle nearly as well as my SRT does. The TA came with either the 5.7 and the much more desirable SRT powered 392 Hemi, which would definitely be the one that I would go for if I were in the market for one. It's nice and think it that it's really cool but for that price, I would prefer to have the new Challenger 1320 or Scat Pack wide-body
