    Every vehicle sold in the USA has always come with a manual that is normally in what is called the glove box. I'm am shocked that Toyota didn't provide your truck with one in your case and probably they were just trying to save a buck.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't understand your comment exactly, but I did look in the several manuals that came with the truck, but they didn't indicate where the fuse for these plugs was located. It talked about 3 different locations where you might find fuses. Two of which require trim tools to access. Also not all vehicles have physical manuals anymore some are not digital in the infotainment system or online. Thanks for watching and I have a followup on where that fuse is.

    My 13' 4Runner Trail gets 17 mpg in city and 21 highway. Wild a 2024 is the exact same, but you pay so much more.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      MPG in trucks hasn't changed as much as it has in cars over the years for sure, but I generally drive only 2-5 miles to get anywhere I need to go during the week which doesn't lend itself to very good MPG in any of the vehicles I have owned here. On the highway I have gotten 23-24 mpg on a few trips as well, but I don't make those types of trips very often. Some of that will change now for the summer as we start our travels, but to date we haven't driven further than about 60 miles in one shot and 40 miles a few times. Many of those trips were on trails using 4 wheel drive with the RTT and all our or camping stuff nearing max payload of the vehicle too. So I'm not ever going to win any MPG contests either. On the other hand, it sounds like your 4Runner is an exception and gets great mileage. Thanks for watching!

    Android auto works flawlessly for me, zero issues so far. I have the same yea, model and even the same color as you and I love it. I live on the beach so it is on the sand a couple days per week and it floats over the sand.

      @warg333 won't be any different than any of the other manufacturers if that's the case. The major recall today was for the Tundra V6.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@warg333Well they are not at all the same engine. Until they start actually issuing recalls for this one I'm not going to be concerned. The issue with the Tundra was in the manufacturing process not in the design of the engine itself.

    There is a pamphlet / owners manual that shows all the fuses have you tried looking there?😅

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did look in the owners manual and searched the online manual, but they only mentioned general locations of fuses, and didn't talk at all about those particular power ports either.
      It turned out to be much easier than I thought though so that was good!

    I use carplay and the only issue I have is that the wireless mode takes around 30sec-1min to connect (plus another 20 sec for the screen to turn on) and there is one certain road in one exact spot that it always disconnects for some reason. Other than that wired carplay works amazing with no issues.

      That's good to hear. I'm glad that works for you. It is very slow to boot the system. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

    • @kevinbradley8613

      That’s weird. Mine connects almost instantly. There’s been one or two times when it didn’t connect at all, and I think those times I had shut off the truck only for a minute or two and then started it again. Turning off the truck and turning it back on got the phone to connect again.
      With the dash screen not saving my selection for the tire pressure monitor, that’s hit or miss too. It works most of the time, but oddly enough, if it reverts back to the trip A screen, it changes back to the tire pressure monitor when I apply the parking brake… kinda weird, but if you notice that your custom setting has reverted, try stopping your truck and putting the brake on (I suspect a software issue with the interface of the truck being different when it’s parked). Sometimes when I park, the infotainment will switch out of CarPlay automatically but still be connected. I have a trd off-road (not premium 😂, but it has the 14” display), and it’s an MT as well. Loving this truck so far!

    No issues with Android Auto on my big screen. Using a Pixel 6a and now an 8a. I actually don't mind now if it doesn't connect so I can see if the Toyota maps is good as Google. I use a USB thumb drive for my all music.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting I have the Pixel 8 Pro. The service people were pretty confused on both the driver display issue and AA not working correctly. Hopefully they can send that up to corporate or maybe there's a problem with my infotainment system?

    • @dino5254
      @dino5254 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BenInBeta When I first got the truck my Pixel 6a always connected, I never needed to reconnect. Now, usually on a new day I'll have to reconnect my 8a but that's ok so I can try out the Toyota Nav which seems to be doing good. I am hoping is piggybacking off Google Maps. My trouble shooting is that I attribute it to, is too many Bluetooth connections on my device and they are all within reach having conflicts, plus I have the Toyota dashcam that I have to turn off Android Auto to connect to view as well. One day it will be perfect.

    The fuse is in the little compartment in the bed where the USB and 12v socket are. Blew mine while trying to run a small compressor. Found it to be a 7.5 amp, wish it was a 10+ amp.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I looked in that area and didn't see one, but that's good to know. I think it should have been a 15amp fuse given the 4 ports that are in there. Thanks for sharing. I had asked that question on Tacoma4G and never got a reply. I was worried it would be under the back seats. The manuals are 0 help these days and 2000 pages long. Lol

    I’m very interested to know this whole charging situation. I was planning as well to use my Ecoflow and plug it in the bed truck.
    Very disappointed.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I had anticipated it wouldn't work as this is pretty common for the 400 watt A/C inverters in vehicles. You can still use the DC plugs and I think it's just going to be a fuse. I have used the D/C cigarette lighter plug in the front of the truck to charge my battery and had no issue there. It's around 100 watts. If you have a battery less than 1kwh, and you are not going to use that much power every day your on a trip you really won't have an issue. On both of my trips this year so far, only one night, I hardly used any battery for either the fridge or the electric heating pad we brought for just a touch of extra warmth. We still had like 90% battery in the morning. The fridge will use more power when it's hot and you can stil plug the fridge into the outlet and while the vehicle is running and the switch is one, the fridge will run just fine. I'll be doing a video about this soon as well to talk about the power station setup we ultimately chose for our overlanding build.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @danpeters2922 I don't have experience with him that size, but I think you have to make a few minor mods to get it to fit. I do think 255/80/17s do fit without mods, but you might want a different wheel to get the offset the way you want.

    Nice truck, how much you are driving in the city and how is the average mpg so far?

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I drive mostly in the city and usually less than 5 miles per stop. I'm also at 6000 ft of elevation and there's a ton of hills. My average has been 17.8 both with and without the tent. On the highway, though it's difficult to get an understanding of what your trip mileage is without remembering to look at the screen when you shut the truck down, I get 20 or better depending on conditions, less than 20 in stiff winds.

    Doesn't seem like the fuel mileage is improved over the six cylinder? I saw a video where they towed a camper and got 14mpg and 19 or 20 without a tow. I'm no mechanic, but if the engine has to work that much harder under a load than I'd have to say that it does not bowed well for longevity of the four if your towing with it.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't tow presently so that part isn't a big deal to me personally and I rented a 3rd Gen last fall doing some of the same trails I have done with my 4th Gen and I get about 3 MPGs better in the 4th gen then I did on those trips even with near max payload vs running with maybe half payload in the 3rd Gen. So I'd say it's better in that regard. But mileage does vary between people and regions.
