This was the lecture I was waiting for! One that can be shared with non-religious friends who may have never opened a bible in their lives. Its very well- structured and full of interesting history. I appreciate how Ms. Nanouche anticipates where modern listeners might get confused and need more background or clarification.
That was a wonderful lecture. I'm a practicing New Thought Christian, myself, and I have studied a lot of books on the subject, and also all of Mary Baker Eddy's books. I am very interested in Christian Science and even subscribe to the Christian Science Journal, since it has the monthly testimonials of healing which I always find helpful. One thing I feel I have to point out - most of the New Thought pioneers did not say that healing is done by the practitioner, them self - in fact, Ernest Holmes made it a point in The Science of Mind that if you look to yourself for the power, then you'll fail in your demonstration because you're relying on your own will power. He, and many others, emphasized that it is God who does the healing, and a perfect realization of the perfect presence of God would heal anything immediately. And there were a lot of healings accomplished in those days of the New Thought movement - the problem now, I think, is people have become addicted to health care and only trust medical science, and are not willing to give Spiritual healing a chance. Also, especially in modern New Thought, especially in Religious Science, there seems to be less of an emphasis on healing, even though Ernest Holmes wrote The Science of Mind as a textbook on how to be a practitioner. That being said, I have seriously considered Christian Science, since they seem to still be getting results from Spiritual healing after all these years. The problem is, I'm still unclear on the modus operandi of Christian Science Healing. If I'm understanding the lecture, it's a realization of the perfect presence of God (which is what Ernest Holmes called the Realization method, whereas he also gave a several step method called Spiritual Mind Treatment, which was designed to help a practitioner realize that perfect presence of God). Anyway, thank you again for the beautiful lecture, as I did find it very informative and helpful.
We are glad you liked the lecture! Christian Scientists don’t criticize other religions or proselytize. We don't study the human mind or use meditation as healing is obtained by acknowledging God, the One Mind. Our Pastors, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, are all we need to understand and practice healing. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, urged us to follow her only “so far as she follows Christ.” (Message to The Mother Church for 1902) There are no specific steps to healing-just understanding the truth. Time and affirmations aren't a factor; only God and His idea, man. She emphasizes the First Commandment, One God and man in God’s image. “The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man.” Science and Health p. 284:31
@@PrayerThatHeals I did once call a Christian Science practitioner, back in 2015 when I had a strange gastrointestinal ailment that the doctor couldn't figure out and they said I'd have to have an MRI. She was very nice and helpful (she was also very impressed when she found out I already had all of Mary Baker Eddy's books). Anyway she gave me some passages to read. Although it didn't clear up over night (I had already had it most of that summer), it did eventually recede and went away on its own. And more recently, I had a strange ailment that was causing me to be light headed with brain fog, and was having tightness in my chest and difficulty breathing - in fact, I watched your lecture while this was going on, hoping it would help me. I started to look through my back issues of Christian Science Journal, the testimonials of healing sections, for people with similar symptoms. I found a couple of helpful articles there. In one of them, the person realized they are a perfect expression of God, and another realized that God is my center and circumference. I kept focusing on those ideas. I still ended up going to the ER because I was getting worried, but still kept my thoughts on these ideas. They found nothing wrong with me and sent me home, but I still had the symptoms. I continued to focus on these ideas (as well as doing other Affirmative prayer) and finally, this past week, my brain fog had lifted, and my breathing is back to normal.
What a w9mderful presentation. Imsanity is doing the same thing Ober again and expecting different tesilys. Thinking lGod's thoughts, amd mot purs, always changes pur whole body. It really os all about God revealing new thoughts of Hos to us. Tjis presentation is extremely relatable and straightforward.

Yes, it certainly is about God revealing new thoughts to us, as we keep striving to keep our minds open to Truth and Love.
