It was implied by the eminent mythologist, Joseph Campbell that *IF* we regard God as a supernatural deity, we are already making a categorical mistake. Why? Because God, *AS* a supernatural deity is beyond all categories of thought. So no matter how many ways we interpret God *AS* a supernatural deity, such interpretation would be wholly inadequate in describing such a God because the human mind does not have the capacity to grasp such a God. what we have been doing instead unwittingly is concocting supernatural conceptions of who we think God is but conceptions of God are not God- they never can be. To make matters worse, by mistaking God (that is beyond all categories of thought) and our feeble conceptions of who we think God is, we make the deadly and dangerous mistake of turning our conceptions of God into objects of idolatry which unleashes all manner of violence, fascism, and wars. It's time we stop this madness and realize that the God we believe in is more illusion than reality and while the divine certainly exist within ourselves, our understanding of it is far removed from what we think it is.
