I liked jim as a troll and I like him as a human. I feel like him turning back human was really good development for Claire because merlin said that he couldn't reverse it, but her shadow magic is powered by emotions and merlin knew very little about shadow magic or human emotions. So it felt to me that she was using a new type of magic, one very different to anything merlin could have done.
It was also good to turn him back to a human because if he were still a troll, then he would have to have fought the arcane order either at night or underground in Trollhunters: Rise of Titans
I would be understandable if half-troll jim would be further enhanced and even adapted to help his friends as a researched by gemstones by the trolls from trollmarket and especially from Elder Vendel himself too from Trollmarket
I remember watching the last episode of Wizards. I was having a rough day and was really tired. As he turned to stone and Claire was crying, I remember saying out loud: "Oi, turn him back into a human!", and then it happened literally seconds later. I lost it, broke down laughing.
in my opinion idc about jim being a troll or a human but what really matters is jim being a useful and a powerful character and on top of all the main character i really hope that jim will eventuly wield the excalibar and be the main character again
I'm a bit late to the Trollhunters fandom, but imo TrollJim was how they should have kept him. TrollJim felt like the true embodiment of "Don't think. Become." which is what I think resonates with viewers so much, especially because he did sacrifice almost everything to become what he needed to be in this moment. While it may be happy for Jim to become human again, I do agree this felt rushed or at the very least he should have stayed as such for a few years so he (and us fans) could explore further complications with him being in this form. However, another fan noted that there has never been a half human half troll previously. Not even Merlin knew the intricacies involved with being such a creature. Which meant he also wouldn't know what would happen if mixed with shadow magic.
I agree with you on Troll Jim. It was annoying that they did a Deus Ex Machina and revived him after he turned to stone, which undoes the entire point of turning into a troll in the first place.
@@tiranomarexinfinite4368 what? There’s no evidence in the show to suggest that Merlin’s death caused his magic to flow out of Jim. His staff was intact and plus Merlin used a potion to turn Jim into a troll, not any incantations. The writer’s stated that purely out of plot conscience and to justify their bad decision. If they were gonna turn Jim to human they should have done another way, with more thought and time put into the process or atleast in a way that was impacted by the plot or impacted the plot.
Personally, I don't have a preference of human Jim or Troll Jim. It's his personality and character what lead me to like Jim as a character and one of the few characters I scarily relate to. ((Character decisions and how the character acts is what I relate to) Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir is the other character I scarily relate to.)
Me neither it dosent matter what jim looks like its his personality that matters. Sure I was very disappointed at first when he turned into a troll but I did come to like him a lot and even with this change again it still didn't matter as much and I think it was a smart choice by the writers
I kinda liked Jim as a troll more cause it showed some more character development and maturity. Beside to me he seemed kinda happier as a troll. Besides I just love troll characters so maybe I’m biased, but even if Jim were to not have turned back human. He would still have a life. Besides now with all the trolls in New Jersey and Jim’s family in Arcadia. And there no longer being a Trollhunter doesn’t that mean Jim, if he would chose to stay human would have to give up his friends and life in the new trollmarket? I mean the trolls remain hidden for a reason and since the knowledge of Jim turning into a troll would already be so wide spread others wont know who this strange “flesh bag” that’s claiming to have been the Trollhunter is.
When it revealed that Troll Jim couldn’t be in sunlight I thought he was going to use the gem that would make able to be in sunlight HE LITERALLY SAID “I’m never going to need that” I thought it was foreshadowing. But nope, different gems giving different powers is completely forgotten
I doubt Jim being in sunlight would be efficient, a walking troll in daylight would definitely spark issues, but I think they could’ve sorted that out easily and it would’ve been a copout
I prefer jim as a troll, but at the same time I think it was the best option to change him back to keep him from being sidelined, that way he can be a more involved character and won't have to be restricted to fighting at night or in dark areas. But I think to remedy this they also could have found some sort of spell that would allow jim to be active in the daylight, but I'm guessing that would defeat the purpose of the narrative 😅
We did already know something that could do that. Remember the triumph brookstones that Vendel had? He said that one of them can even make you walk in daylight.
Lowkey hoping in he movie since he spent so long as a half troll there might be a throwaway line or something about his skin being more sensitive to sunburn, but not, y'know, actual burning
Okay personally I would have liked that it would have been like Demona's wish from Disney's gargoyles know like Jim would be Human by day but then revert to being half-troll by night with the added bonus of full troll Jim being like his beast mode
I was expecting him to turn back, because i wasn't convinced he was going to stay troll permanently since he is the main character and was human trough the hole show. But i hated that they just got rid of the amulet, it was part of his identity and i dont think Excalibur can fit the shoes at this point.
I agree I hate the idea of him wielding Excalibur I feel like it's too much of a cliche though I'm still having problems accepting him turning back human. I love anything that breaks what I call the human superiority complex. There are so many stories, mostly fairy tails of other creatures turning human or of multi racial groups but the leader and usually also the lancer is human. I felt so much respect when they said we're changing this character you love permanently into a troll cause it was a gutsy move that was guaranteed to anger some fans. Trollhunters is by no means innocent of the trolls are dumb steriotype but I did love the ending cause it felt like something was finally saying humans aren't the best thing to be. I liked human jim heck the first episode when he cooked for his mum I was like dude this breaks cliche I love him already but I watched trollhunters to begin with because I came across a multifandom AMV that had troll jim clips and was completely taken by the design. Then I started loving his personality then he took on the troll form and I was like dude this is great, then they took it away. I mean what else do we have breaking the HSC bloomin Shrek thats it.
I’m glad the mistake of turning Jim into a troll was corrected, there was an entire episode that explained why things turned out better because he was a human Trollhunter(part 2 episode 11)
I agree I wanted him to use the Aspectus stone that make him not burn at daylight because that would be ironic when he said I don’t think I will need this one. + he never used a single one in that box that was full
So to be fair, I obviously don't know what they have planned for the movie, and what happens there could of course change my perspective--but based on what we currently know, my opinion is that *yes, Jim should have stayed half-troll.* I disagree with your premise that Jim staying half-troll would require all scenes with him to take place at night. Night is not the only setting free of sunlight. There are also underground locations, indoor locations, heck, even an overcast day. Or if you want fancier solutions, it was established in s2 of Trollhunters that one of the stones that could be placed in the Amulet can grant the user sunlight immunity. Granted, he no longer has the Amulet, but with Douxie on his team I'm sure they could've figured out a way to channel the stone's power for him. Additionally, Angor Rot had the ability to use the Shadow Staff to lengthen shadows are allow him to walk onto the sun-covered soccer field in Trollhunters--with Claire's growing abilities in shadow magic, I'm sure she could've done something similar for Jim if needed. Essentially, if the problem is that he needs to be in the sun to participate for whatever reason, there are far more creative and interesting options to explore than retconning his transformation. I also disagree that Jim turning half-troll in the first place undermined his importance as the first _human_ Trollhunter. What made Jim a unique Trollhunter was not and has never been his _physical_ "humanity", but rather his heart and compassion. Blinky tells him that he "has a strong heart--a quality rarely seen in trolls", and later that some of the things that make humans great is that they "grow" and "learn from their mistakes" better than famously stubborn trolls do. Jim lost NONE of these qualities when he transformed. While his body may have changed, his TRUE "humanity"--the emotional part, the part that deals with compassion and determination and understanding--remained very much intact. Jim as a half-troll has, in a way, the best of both worlds--the human strength of heart to make his decisions, and the troll strength of body to back them up. Sure, it also comes with some disadvantages, but a lot of them can be circumvented. I already talked about the sunlight one above. Can't talk to other humans (who aren't aware of trolls)? Glamour mask, easy. Can't go to school? This has less to do with being half-troll and more with having to leave to search for the new heartstone--which as the Trollhunter he'd probably have had to do anyways, even if he'd remained human. Arrrggh attended a day of summer school in 3Below with no more fanfare than Coach asking why he came--if Arrrggh can do it, Jim certainly could have if he'd stayed in town. Cooking? Perhaps he'll have to learn how to cook different things, but that doesn't mean he has to give up the interest entirely, nor can he no longer enjoy food--he simply eats _different_ food. Is that really so big an issue? Given how content he appears chomping down on a basket on his date with Claire in Wizards literally declaring "this is perfect!", I don't think he was particularly stressed about his new diet (once he got over the initial adjustment angst, of course). If THOSE are the issues, solving them by regressing back to his human form out of the blue feels like a copout. Now, that said, him turning back to human DOES open some intriguing narrative doors in terms of the upcoming film--how is he going to handle fighting now that he's been near-completely nerfed? And I'm sure the team will find an interesting way to handle that. HOWEVER, it ALSO _closes_ several other doors and all sorts of the storytelling potential behind Jim's new life as a half-troll (which he sadly didn't really get to see much of at all), and I will forever be disappointed by that. Also troll!Jim's design is vastly superior imo, sorry (not sorry) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes! I adore this comment, he should've stayed half-troll but the creators tossed that idea out of the window, or did they? I know that it would be wasteful to just transform him back into a troll but what if Jim decides it would be best for everyone? He can always make a new potion if it comes to it and maybe he actually enjoyed being a troll. He has already settled into half-troll life and he handles it nicely. He might also feel guilt because he can't fight as well as everyone else now
But there was nothing there about the immunity to daylight stone, nor glamour masks which was one of the reasons given in the video to have Jim be human again, being that it would limit the story.
Ya i like human jim but I think he should have kept all the powers he got as a half troll so he can go in the sun eat normal food but also he keeps some of the super human abilities he got so he's got the best of both worlds. And I think he should either get his amulet back or get a new one that works pretty much the same way but maybe its more powerful or something.
@@stephanie6718 ya cause its a magic sword so eneything can happen. Or he might get a new amulet or the same one then in rise of the titans he uses excalibur and his amulet to fight the titans but after he decides he doesn't need the sword hes good with his amulet and he puts it back in the stone or a stone for someone else who's worthy to pull it from the stone.
@@Dipper_the_cool_nerd Yay I feel like his is gonna get something to fight with (mostly likely the sword or a amulet or maybe both) by that I mean he get sword first then get amulet and gives sword to someone else (maybe steve, or toby)
@@stephanie6718 ya he gets the sword and a new amulet or the Same one repaired and uses both in the battle and when its over he gives the sword to someone else who he thinks is worthy of it like Steve,Toby or maybe a new character because he Doesn't want all the power for himself he's good with just his amulet.
What if he’s still part troll Merlin said that he was all ways going to be part troll but he never a said that it code not be change or adjusted so what if he is just in a kind of base form with a small amount of troll DNA that gives him the instinct of both human and troll as well as the high ten sense of a troll and ( going back to what I said in your theory video about Jim’s roll in the up cuming movie) that by activating the base amour more of his troll gene becoming faster stronger etc but when he say Activates his eclipse Armor he transforms in the half troll form that we see at the end of trollhunters but he also gets a new incarnation that transforms him into the hulking behemoth we saw towards the end of wizards (We’re in his base form no Armor he’s mostly human but a little bit troll gen here in this form this is reversed and he’s mostly troll but a little bit human).
I do prefer Jim as a human, due to the fact that his troll self was turned to stone, but by Claire's tears, it turned Jim back into a human, and also due to the fact that Jim is the next wielder of Excalibur, passed on from King Arthur, despite he's the first, only, and last human Trollhunter, whom he's the very last of all Trollhunters.
Instead of turning him back to a human they should’ve found a way for trolls to survive in sunlight. Then Jim will be able be out during the day and still be a troll.
When Merlin said half troll, I expected Jim to take the appearance of a Troll who can still walk into daylight while other trolls can't thus his human half remain. Now they revert Jim back and I was wondering, "Well besides the power boost, what was the point of Troll Jim?" If they were going for the hybrid idea than can't they do it like a werewolf where he transform into a Troll every night and human by day? Or maybe take a page from Danny (Danny Phantom) and Jake Long (American Dragon) where he can turn between forms at fee will. Seriously, their is untap potential here that should have been explored more.
It was jarring for jim to turn back into a human, mainly because it was a huge deal and it would be permanent. Honestly it was super ballsy for the writer (at the time) to make Jim’s choice have real stakes and consequences, but now he just kind of got reset and honestly he and the story are less interesting for it. There could have been other stories about trying to make Jim human again, but then it just happens,? And for what reason? Because people were made that they Jim have more depth rather than be a generic character that got cool troll powers with no cost. Jim becoming troll Jim and making these big decisions was kind of similar to growing up and the emotional responses to it were great. And as for limiting Jim’s ability to be in sun light, well that issue is already solved. There was a stone that could be placed in the amulet to allow the troll hunter to not get burnt by sun light, also there are glamar masks. Even with the amulet destroyed Merlin could still make something to use that sunscreen stone so trolljim could be in daylight, I was so confused why this wasn’t used. It’s also more interesting to see how Jim could have combatted his weakness and how he would get through situations without his gear.
Exactly!!! Everything you said was exactly what I was thinking. I hate when people use the argument that Jim turning into a troll was a bad decision because “originally he was successful as the Trollhunter because he was human”. Yes, he was able to get a lot done as a human. His humanity was perfect for mostly everything. But to kill Gunmar and Angor rot, and be thrown around and fight Morgana? He would’ve been killed right away as Human Jim. He had to be troll for the final fight, there was no other way. This is one of my favorite sacrifices in all of fiction. He sacrificed his humanity for the greater good, and that’s what makes him a true hero. Some say Merlin manipulated him and forced him to become a troll, but Merlin didn’t force him at all. He told Jim it was his choice. And since Jim is a hero, he made that hard choice, and saved everyone. This is why I pretend that 3Below, Wizards, and Rott never happened, it ruins so many things for Trollhunters which I consider a perfect show. In a perfect world season 3 of troll hunters is where the franchise ended, and Anton was still the voice for Jim throughout all 3 seasons.
I _hate_ how they undid Troll Jim. I love it when stories have consequences that are actually permanent. No “oh, he’s magically human again”, no “he came back to life and everything is fine”, none of that. Well, _some_ of it is okay, as long as it’s executed well and given in small doses, but Troll Jim really resonated with me and undoing that is definitely a large dose of impermanent consequence. Going through irreversible changes and having to learn to live with them and accept them is a theme that really hit hard for me, especially due to real circumstances in my life, and I was dumbfounded when I saw they reversed Troll Jim. Then I was angry. I loved Troll Jim. Not only did that create an entire new side of his character full of intrigue and potential, it was also a great sacrifice Jim chose to make. He was sacrificing his humanity, he was sacrificing the “normal” part of his life, and it was a difficult and heart-wrenching choice for him to have to make. But no, there are no real consequences, look, Jim is human again now!! Yayyy!!! With the impact the original sacrifice and the theme of learning to cope with permanent changes had on me, the fact they chose to magically undo it really irritates me. Talk about magic technicalities and how it’s possible in-universe all you want. The writers choose the mechanics and the writers could have chosen to let Troll Jim stick around. Them magically undoing his transformation wiped out the gravitas and sacrifice of Troll Jim in the first place.
I'm glad that trollhunters finally has more attention!!!!!! I've loved it from the beginning and until recently I felt like the only one who found this gem of a series
I like troll jim. it's a showcase of his strength and maturity. It shows us how far he's come. it shows us that he is truly a hero. the blade that was once too large for him now fits him perfectly. it also brings home the line "don't think, become" which is a main theme of the series. also his design is fucking awesome. the blue contrasted with the red, like humanity working with trolls. like it looks like jim, but with better hair and troll-like features. AND HORNS. JIM HAS FUCKING HORNS. THAT'S FUCKING EPIC
I like Jim better as a troll because 1 troll Jim is faster, stronger and cooler looking then regular Jim. And 2 Jim giving up his humanity and his chances of ever living a normal life with Claire by becoming a troll to save the world was the ultimate sacrifice and great character growth. Turning him back to human sort of feels like there absolving that sacrifice and erasing that character growth just to give a happy ending.
he would be fucking unstoppable. like, a human-troll wielding Excalibur?! that would be absolutely perfect for the union of trolls to humans, a troll-human with the mantle of trollhunter but wielding a human blade.
I personally, would've preferred if he stayed a troll. It's not only shows so much character development, but how far he is truly willing to go not only to save his home, but protect and save his family/friends. Besides, I don't understand why dreamworks would reverse a development like that to such a major character in the show so quickly. It makes it seem like Jim turning into a half-troll wasn't needed in the first place. Furthermore, I feel as if we were robbed of the chance to see Jim struggle with his new body, instincts, and such. I would have LOVED to see a few episodes or a small show of the journey to New Jersey, and the rebuilding of Trollmarket(AKA, New Trollmarket)while also seeing Jim adjust to his body as it all happens. Because really, during the battle with Gunmar, Jim was running on pure adrenaline, and wouldn't have really had much time to TRULY think about the implications of his new body-yes, I haven't forget the episode where Jim does show distress about his new body, and new limitations, however it isn't realistic to think that all it took was some reassurance from his friends and family to rid his mind of those thoughts that; "This body isn't mine" or, "I'm a monster now.", ect. That's without mentioning the fact that Merlin did state the potions wouldn't be reversible, and he IS only the most powerful wizard there ever was. While I know it's very likely he only turned back due to Claire's shadow magic, and how not a whole lot is known about that type of magic, it just doesn't seem possible for her to simply be able to turn Jim back into a full human so quickly. However, those are just my personally opinions.
I personally like troll Jim because it proved how far he was willing to go to be a hero and should have stayed that way. He sould though have been more like a half troll like being able to go in sunlight and eat some human food could have been weaker in the sun but not the full strength of a troll to balence it out.
The whole point of him being a special trollhunter was because he’s a human chosen as a trollhunter. I actually like his half troll form and I like his human one too. They could have gave him the ability to switch forms at his own will, personally I don’t think it would change his title as a special kind of troll hunter since he’s the only troll hunter that could switch forms. Although there are trolls like his step father that can switch from human to troll
I would be fine if he still had his troll abilities like, the super jump thingy , or like damage resistance and stuff like that. Like the agility of his troll form.
I prefer how he looked as a troll but maybe if they had made it so that during night he was troll and during the day he was human? They could have made their way around it. I honestly think that it would have been much better rather then him completely going human
My only thing is that Vendel said there was a stone used by past Trollhunters to walk in daylight. Like, you solved your own problem then decided you wanted a different solution.
I would probably say I prefer Jim as a troll, solely because I love that character design. And his troll design is completely different to any other troll in the show. But it also has that human figure. I also loved his personality when he was a troll, and him having to deal with those emotion changes. But I did find it really sweet how he turned back into a human, and he had that reunion with Claire. But I feel like he should’ve had a bigger reunion with all the other characters, especially Toby and Blinky. And he went through this whole journey of having to manage his new strength, his new emotions, and everything else that came with being a troll. But then he turns back into a human and everything is fine? I feel like they could’ve focused on that a little bit more at the end of Wizards’. Even a few moments of him stumbling now that he’s shorter than what he was in his troll form.
I don't really know how to think. Maybe I'm just biased because out of all the still living troll characters (in my opinion), Troll Jim had the best horns
I think it would have been a good idea to make him be able to change into his Trollform by inkantation or as a powerup. With the querks that he can only use it at night or in dark places.
Him should have stayed a troll, it was heroic sacrifice and his evolution. Changing him back undermines his entire journey and sacrifice. It would have been better for him to stay a troll, come to terms with the changes in his life and overcoming “ difficulties. The main reason the armor was stuck on him was because of his emotional state. His armor was responding to his vulnerable mental state. A good arc would be for jim to get in a better place mentally and with the help of his friends find peace and have the armor come off. Changing him back was a mistake.
The could’ve just made it like a werewolf or even what they did in Sonic Unleashed. Where after wizards, Jim could be human during the day but when night comes he becomes a troll. Emphasizing this permanent state of his toll half, while allowing Jim to to fight during day and night. That would’ve at least been better than getting rid of his troll completely kind making his decision in Tales of Arcadia kinda not as important.
I think him turning back to a human kinda belittles his sacrifice. He sacrifice literally everything to be a troll to protect others, his friends, family, and hell even his future (In an episode he implies he wants to be a father and most likely wanted that with Claire) Turning him back kinda belittles all that. I think the only way to not make his sacrifice completely meaningless is by still having Jim ether keep some troll abilities (Like he is stronger, faster, and can take more heavy hits) or he can somehow go back to troll. (Examples of this in battle he can turn into a troll if the situation calls for it or at night he can willing turn back to a troll)
I think it does make sense, when I first saw it I hated it a lot but over time i've mostly got used to him being human again. I still don't like it but I've become more understanding of why they did it, I had to think up a lot of theories to explain things to the point that I'd be ok with them but now I'm coming to terms with it. One thing that doesn't sound that relevant but that would of made me forgive the moment a bit for personal reasons is if Blinky said 'welcome back son' or anything allong those lines after he turned back human. I feel like even though it was obvious from sweet sixteen that they where father and son it only got acknowledged when Jim needed Blinky after he turned into a troll and I'd of liked Blinky to acknowledge that regardless of what form he takes it doesn't change anything.
Well it said he was permanent like that but then clares tear kinda revertided him to human so what is hes a type of changeling thing now? I would like that to happen
Human form consent by him taking off the armor him going back to normal life like in the heroes journey format. Since when is it the Titans is coming next year I could symbolize him taking up having to take on the armor again having a fight again and leaving his normal life again.
Always assumed he would turn back if there was a sequel anyway, to much of the story was about him proving that he could be a hero despite being a human
I always hated troll Jim it seemed that the second he became a troll Jim lost half his brain cells. So while I'm excited for human Jim I'm also wary that they might still write him making dumb decisions.
@@janusinitiative3520 I'm pretty sure that the stones that caused him to lose his edge also damaged his amulet. It looks like it was stabbed in the center of it and that may be a reason besides the poison that he kept getting his ass handed to him
Thank God Jim didn't stayed a troll........ because the sunlight became his kryptonite and that really would've killed him if he didn't turn back into a human.....
Could someone please explain to me why it was it a good thing that Jim became a troll and it undermined completely undermined the past theme of the previous two seasons of Trollhunters, I mean the entire point was that Jim proved he could accomplish more as a human Trollhunter, that a normal Trollhunter wouldn’t be able to do, I mean the Trollhunters council at first was reluctant that he had a team but later learned that working alone and pushing others away wasn’t a great idea. I get that becoming a troll gave him the power to defeat Gunmar but it cost him something even more important his humanity. So again, would someone like to tell what was so great about troll Jim?
The great thing about troll Jim, or at least in my opinion, is the fact that he had to give up his old life. To save the world he loved he had to lose it. It's kinda poetic. It didn't really undermind the first two seasons. He was picked because his heart, compassion and ability to grow and learn from his mistakes. That's the humanity that he was picked for. He didn't lose his humanity, Merlin said part of him would be the same but the other would change. The concept of humanity isn't about whats on the outside, but whats on the inside. There are tons of stories out there where monster like creatures are more human than humans themselves. Having empathy and being kind and good morals. None of that changed for Jim, he is still our Jim. But now he has to deal with the fact that he will never be the same again. In war their are always sacrifices that have to be made. It wasn't him giving up his humanity to win the war and defeat Gunmar and Morgana. It was him giving up the rest of his human life. Edit: There is a lot of better explanations in the comments but I thought I'd try and show you why the ending is so great.
I prefer human Jim, I can't wait to see him with his normal life again! it makes me very happy, I'm looking forward to seeing him with Excalibur too XD💙✨
As watching Troll hunters it was very good to be honest him as A human was better and I liked at the of rise of titans where he goes back in time and givesTopy a big Hug even though it’s sad that Topy doesn’t know he saved the world
Maybe if the elixir only made him a troll temporarily, or maybe one of the stones from the amulet can turn him into a troll, but it's hard to revert back. Everything about this show was great, the 3 below thing shouldn't have existed. It was fun to see steve fall in love with another being, and it made sense for the creation of the new amulet, but maybe wizards could've introduced new kinds of ancient trolls that were thought to be exctinct, hiding away underground. Steve can fall in love with one of them, and the amulet can be created using their magic. I love Jim as a troll and definitely think it should stay, maybe they make it so since he's half human, he can be in the daylight and he has to get used to people accepting him or something
I like them both and no matter the choice, he is Jim Lake. But honestly, I love Troll Jim's design, and I think it would have been better if he stayed like that.
I think that Jim being a human again is a good thing because now he can grow and get stronger. And for his Troll form on one hand he is stronger but on the other he can't do something's like go out into sunlight or eat real food like he could before. But here's what i think would solve his future problems in Rise of the Titans. I think that Jim should find a way to turn back into a troll when he's wearing his armor just for the strength and use the helmet that came with his suit to protect his Head from the sun. And when he's not wearing his armor he turn into a human again so he can do the human things he enjoys.💙 (🤓)
Personally I feel like Jim should have stayed a troll. I’m saying that 1: because I like troll Jim more than human Jim, and 2: because it keeps with the message almost that the original show was going for. Although it does make somewhat sense for Jim to become human again, I do think that the producers could have came up with a better way that he does. Also we hardly got to see troll Jim, like sure we got the final battle in Troll Hunters, then a little snippet of him here and there in 3Below, and Wizards did have some of him. But I honestly wanted some Blinky helping Jim through new becoming a troll problems, and just some troll Jim doing troll Jim things. For me personally keeping Jim a troll would have been a better choice for the series, and while the video does state some things like the movie would have to take place at night or in buildings. From what I remember of the movie a portion of it did take place at night or in somewhere, and I mean they made Troll Hunters take place primarily at night it wouldn’t be too hard to shift the time of day slightly. The original Troll Hunters series revolved around Jim sacrificing himself to save those who he cared about and the words “don’t think, become” but by having Jim turn back to human it feels like it goes against everything the show stood for. (This is at least what if feels like for me) (Has nothing to do with the comment but I binged Troll Hunters like 10 times watched the finale battle over 20 times and watched Wizards 8 times some times stopping before Jim’s transformation, and I just ignore the movie exists)
Personally I would find it very interesting if they had kept Troll Jim. I read a comment on here and described how is humanity was in heart and ideals you know. So I would have found it interesting how Jim would/have adjusted to him being half troll and grabbling with different problems then before.
I like troll Jim. You can't deny that Troll jim looks amazing. They did a great job melding troll aspects to him that kept him heroic and sympathetic looking. The added strength was great and I understand why some feel that Jim turning into a troll destroys the idea of the story that a Human can become a trollhunter. It's like with Naruto he was a weak nobody hated by all and dreams to become the Hokage. he denies destiny and with hard work he becomes a powerful ninja, then for us to learn that he is a child of prophecy Destined to save the world and the reincarnation of the the Sage of Sixth paths son. But I feel that if we look back Jim was bested many times in the past from multiple foes, before defeating them barely. There was loss. Aaarrrgghh and Draal "died" in the story. If Jim was a a troll things might've been different. Troll Jim had strength, defense, and agility making him a great fighter and would've been probably more usefull in the final movie that was recently released. Without spoiling things, Troll Jim would've been great to have there and could've change the movie for the better in my opinion. The Sacrifices one must make to save the ones you love is great and Troll Jim was that. He could've fought as a human but with the numbers he fought, and with Gunmar and Morgana, I have my doubts. However, we all know this is a story so the writers could have written a script where Jim could refuse, stay human, and win proving he was a Hero as he was. And that's great, but real life isn't like that and sometimes sacrifices are needed and we can never go back. I like that Troll Jim was amazing and I will miss you. RIP Troll Jim 08/07/20. There are however, things I hated about Troll Jim, firstly that he couldn't eat normal food. WTF?There are several times from multiple seasons we see trolls eat normal food. Drall eats a taco as well as other trolls after killing Gunmar's son saying even better then cats. Then Aaarrgghh farts blaming it on a burrito. so why can't Jim eat human food? I believe it's the same reason that Jim can't remove his armor. He is rejecting his Troll body and so it could create a backlash on him physically. The human body can reject things that is foreign to it like germs and illness. so something similar might be happening here. Once Jim is content as a troll he could remove the amulet and be able to eat normal food again, although he should have to eat rocks, crystals, and gems since he is a troll but still be able to enjoy human foods as well. The last problem is that he can't walk out in the day or he too would become stone like any other Troll but there is a fix for this. There is a stone that Jim can put into his amulet that can allow him to be imune to sun light. This was mentioned in season two in the episode were Jim seperates into multiple copies from another stone when he was testing muliple stones. And I'm sorry to say to the writers of this series but they screwed up. Why didn't all trollhunters have this in their amulets from day one? Seriously it's the greatest power to have when fighting against trolls to be imune to sun light. Serious why? Both problems would be fixed, and JIm could have been happy with no worries. Also with his friends and families dying issue: Wizards seem to live for a long time so he would at least have Clair, so I wouldn't complain plus who knows perhaps a little magic can allow his other friends to become imortal. I was upset with the fact that also despite saying there is no way back he turns back like a month later; that's like Hiccup losing his foot against the Red Death and the next week he finds out he can grow it back with some medicine/magic from a dragon. if you make a sacrifice, commit to it and don't go back.
I prefer troll Jim he has his Beauty and the Beast won't look to him it just is more personal to see in lot cooler to see Jim as a troll with the blue armor the sideburns the way is faces shapes he just looks a little more manlier like when Jimmy when Jim is a troll he looks like a 30 year old man
I like Jim as both. Personally I think the biggest problem with him reverting to human is simply that it was rushed, which I think is a byproduct of wizards being forced in to 1 season. It definitely could have been better if they had put effort in to trying to revert him to a full human or curing him of the Green Knight's dark magic, rather than it being a deus ex machina of magic tears. It could have been something they did, but instead it was something that just happened. But even just the scene where the stone troll crumbled and Jim emerged completely unscathed could have been drawn out for a greater emotional impact. I don't really put much stock in to the fact that Merlin said it was permanent because, well, he said a lot of shit that wasn't true, and his whole character is just "old curmudgeon who doesn't yet know the power of friendship and love and who will be proven wrong because this is a kid's show."
Yeah I would’ve preferred that he stayed as a troll to show him his acceptance as the Trollhunter. But I did loved him as a human where it shows that even though he’s the trollhunter, he still has his humanity
I think we should have had more time with Troll Jim, but him turning back wasn't a bad thing. Though him having to stay a troll could have made his decision to turn back time in the movie and giving up on beeing the trollhunter more interesting.
To be honest at the end of wizards when he became a human again I was confused I liked troll Jim I like the deisein and troll Jim makes Jim a better troll hunter Merlin even said In order to be a troll hunter you have to be a troll and a hunter there's ways troll Jim can be in troll hunter rise of titans like the eternal night maybe Clair somehow by axedent made a eternal night that way Jim can always be with the character I'm bummed out that troll Jim is no more.
i think that they did this, because king arthur did not like trolls, and magical creatures, and at the end of wizards douxie wants jim to wield excalibur. i think that in the new movie jim will be the wielder of excalibur for the movie.
I didn't like Jim turning into a troll permanently, I feel like it severely limited him in that he could only go out at night. Also, you know his relationship with Claire would most likely eventually end. It would have been a lot better if when he used the amulet he would have all his powers and turn into a troll. Also, Rise of the Titans, didn't like him at all as plain human and I definitely did not like the ending. I won't spoil it for those who haven't watched it, but seriously it's been done in so many movies already that it was so predictable. When lots of people start dying you know there will be a chance for a do-over, hello Avengers!!
The thing that bugs me the most though is that they never gave a Reason to WHY Jim was able to turn back into a human once he essentially "died" if they had a solid reason then yeah maybe I could put it aside but they didn't..
I think he should have become human again because after all the sacrifices he made he deserves it but he should have kept all the same abilities he had as a half troll so he still has a part of that experience. And I prefer him as a human because that's him.
Fuck no Jim shouldn’t have stayed a troll.. I like troll Jim but Jim literally could go into daylight and what about his mom! He couldn’t stay home he couldn’t go back to school he couldn’t really go anywhere like he used to
When Jim turned to stone I was begging in my thoughts for him not to turn human but I was also conflicted because I didn't want him to die. When it happened I think I actually verbally said something along the lines of "oh, for fuck's sake!". When Jim turned into a troll in trollhunters I thought it it was kinda bullshit because being human supposedly was an advantage in the fight or so we were told. Walking in daylight helped with investigations and he was more agile than a troll would be but then "nope! His humanity is holding him back". But the fact that it was supposed to be a permanent sacrifice made me more on the fence then mad and I started liking the change. Now I'm just mad. They got rid of everything that made Jim's decision impactful. In fact I would argue that it retroactively made so that it wouldn't be a sacrifice at all! Rewatch value be damned. "Consequences? That is something I can cherry pick when to apply, yes?". There are so many ways Jim's sunlight allergy could be worked around in order to make him more active in the plot. And I don't think opening the door to go in any direction the creators want is an exclusively good thing, because again, it nullifies the consequences. Who knows if they are going pull something like that again? Should I even care what happens if everything can be undone? Another thing. If Clair is a magic user she's going to have a cery long lifespan and outlive all her human friends, right? With Jim as a half-troll they could keep each other company but that went out the window. Which makes me worried because a) they may not adress that at all or alternatively b) they may end the series with magic dissapearing or Clair giving up her magic or something in order to give us a happy ending which again is getting rid off the characters' misfortunes and refusing to lead the established elements of the setting or plot to its logical conclusion because it doesn't fit the story they want to tell which is something that was already demonstrated they are willing to do. I am a little biased on that last one but I just hate when the story ends with whatever fantasy elements dissapearing and if the writers back down from an interesting concept they either teased or staight up started because it feels like the story has no balls and is dissappointing.
Director: All right, every episode onward we're gonna undermine the 'Unbecoming' episode. Me: Why the hell make it in the first place if you're dumping it?
When he said that all his friends would grow old and die I don’t truly believe that. You see Claire is a witch and from seeing the show it seems like witches and wizards live for a pretty long time. So I had a theory that Jim and Claire may live for a pretty long while Toby may grow old and die. But, by seeing that Jim is a human again I believe that my theory won’t come true anymore, but there could be a fair chance of him turning back to a troll. As I see a lot of people on the internet say that Jim might get the amulet back, so I had an idea that maybe it might turn him back to a troll. I know it sounds weird and all, but here me out the amulet itself may not turn him back, but he will himself do it. He did it once he might just do it again. Sorry If I spelled anything wrong or my grammar is not right
Aside from how much I like the designs of both half-troll and full-troll Jim, I didn't like how it feels like they diminished Jim's sacrifice of his humanity to become a better Trollhunter. Especially since it was said to be permanent. Jim had to make an incredibly difficult decision that couldn't be made lightly, and he made that choice and sacrifice. Sure, one could argue that because according to lore, a half-troll half-human has never happened before and there are many unknowns, therefore "anything could happen" gives it too high a potential to just cheapen it. That said, it unknown if he is completely human now. That some magic shenanigans just made it so his physical appearance coincides more with his human self. Or that it's some kind of safety net for if he, as a troll, gets gravely injured or turned to stone by sunlight/magic/etc so that his troll self can recover. I think it would be an interesting direction if he essentially become something akin to a Changeling and will learn he change alter his form. A reward for his initial sacrifice, or at least an achieved balance between his human and troll sides. Anyway, all we can do is hope that they don't cheapen his deep, personal sacrifice and that they do something with it that isn't just....superficial.
I prefer him human! (there are many reasons, but I'm too lazy to write them all here ;-; Let him live his normal life, with his mother and his friends, with a normal relationship with Claire, in Arcadia, and in the sun, he deserves it! Jim can be strong even as a human, you know that, how many villains has he already defeated in his human form ?? That many past troll hunters never managed to defeat !? Well, let him go to school / college, live in Arcadia with the people he loves, with Claire (and her normal relationship) and him in the sun! And in the future, a family with Claire👁️👄👁️💙💜✨
I feel like turning Jim back into a human completely ruins his character development and maturity that he undertook during season 3. The whole point of him turning into a troll was because he was not strong enough to take on Gunmar as a human. If he wanted to save the world, he would have to sacrifice his own humanity. This was a very vital point in his understanding of what being a true hero is. He had to either pick the selfish route, and stay human for his own selfish sake, or become a troll for the sake of humanity and the world. He chose in the end to sacrifice his normal life as a human, knowing that doing so would help thousands of other humans live their life. Being a true hero, to me at least, means doing what you know is right. Jim gave up his own humanity to help others, and to let them live theirs. He knew the concequences for himself, but was willing to become a troll when he realized that it would benefit others. "Either I suffer or the world suffers" is the type of choice he had to make. At the end of season 3, Jim learns that has to live with the choice he made, and that although he has to now live a brand new life amongst the trolls, he was the reason arcadia had overcome the attack of the gum gum's. Jim learns that being a true hero means that you dont make choices for yourself, but for the greater good. This is a very powerfull message that translates back into real life. The ending of trollhunters is a beautiful bittersweet one, where Jim has to accept what he has done, and move on with his life from there. He wants to try living hapily with the trolls, knowing that even though he must suffer the consequences, he was a true hero after all. So, turning Jim back human ruins his whole character development and contradicts the important message that was shown during season 3. To me at least, this was the worst thing they could have done, and I was left very unsatisfied at the end of Wizards.
They could be like a stone or something at Gunmars birth place and they use it to make Merlin come back to life so Jim some how Merlin douxie morganna that tree thing and Claire plus the ghosts from the past troll hunters will craft a new amulet
I wish we got more of troll Jim because we only got Him being a bad ass in the season 3 finale but in wizards he was just too weak I wish he was a badass in the Killahead parts like he was in the finale but oh well
Jim was the first human trollhunter and he was the best trollhunter that ever lived, yet merlin says "You must be troll and hunter" And turns him into a troll
I think turning Jim into a troll was ONLY necessary for him to beat Gunmar permanently The great thing about his story of how great he was as the Trollhunter in spite of him being human AJ Universe said it better than I can but still Jim turning back into a human felt cathartic to me,as if it was proof that Merlin was wrong in the first place (again)
That makes sense
good way to view it
I like his character in general cuz he just feels real and has great development
It was also good to turn him back to a human because if he were still a troll, then he would have to have fought the arcane order either at night or underground in Trollhunters: Rise of Titans
Nevermind, Smarty Pants said what I just replied, so it kinda makes me look stupid 😐
I would like Jim to be able to change from human to troll and the shared mixed with sunlight gave him the ability to do so
I would be understandable if half-troll jim would be further enhanced and even adapted to help his friends as a researched by gemstones by the trolls from trollmarket and especially from Elder Vendel himself too from Trollmarket

True
Exactly
@@markparkinson6947 That was not a Deus ex Machina, it was confirmed that after Merlin and Arthur died, his magics in Jim disappeared
@@tiranomarexinfinite4368 That's only for plot convience.
@@kourosh1052 Mmmm not at all Merlin didn't knew how to turn Jim back into a human because he needed to die first
@@tiranomarexinfinite4368 what?
I also love ML! i feel like Trollhunters are a mix of ML(miraculouses) and HP(the chosen one) i love them all.
Here's what matters:
What does JIM think
And he hated it, rightfully so,
when Merlin manipulated him into going trans species
i hate how they write ml tho
I get that Merlin manipulated Jim, but it was either that or he dies and humans all get eaten.
When it revealed that Troll Jim couldn’t be in sunlight I thought he was going to use the gem that would make able to be in sunlight
HE LITERALLY SAID “I’m never going to need that” I thought it was foreshadowing. But nope, different gems giving different powers is completely forgotten
Exactly, and all of the stuff that was happening was in the span of 2 months at max. Like how tf do you forget😃
Tbf I don’t think he could open or remove the amulet after his transformation. Would’ve been smart for the fight against Gunmar and Morganna though
@@herkimerlloyd7332 it's been a while sence I've seen trollhunters 😅😂
He could have used one of vendels crystal to make him walk in daylight as vendel says in a hero with a thousand faces
That's what toby asked for in season 3 "spf 1000000".
Oooooooh, that would have been so freezing cool
I was thinking that and I haven’t watch the show.
I was expecting him to turn back, because i wasn't convinced he was going to stay troll permanently since he is the main character and was human trough the hole show. But i hated that they just got rid of the amulet, it was part of his identity and i dont think Excalibur can fit the shoes at this point.
I agree I think Jim is not Jim without the amulet

@@huzaifasiddiqui1624 true their is a reason the amulet chose him
I agree I wanted him to use the Aspectus stone that make him not burn at daylight because that would be ironic when he said I don’t think I will need this one. + he never used a single one in that box that was full
So to be fair, I obviously don't know what they have planned for the movie, and what happens there could of course change my perspective--but based on what we currently know, my opinion is that *yes, Jim should have stayed half-troll.*
I disagree with your premise that Jim staying half-troll would require all scenes with him to take place at night.
He might also feel guilt because he can't fight as well as everyone else now
So were you only half paying attention? Because a si%significant amount of what you said was said in the video.
But there was nothing there about the immunity to daylight stone, nor glamour masks which was one of the reasons given in the video to have Jim be human again, being that it would limit the story.
Love love love this comment, yes, I completely agree l. The fact the sun immunity stone wasnt used made me think the writers just forgot it
YES.
I agree I like how they turn him back (since of plot and other things and his being able to do things troll jim couldn't do)
Ya i like human jim but I think he should have kept all the powers he got as a half troll so he can go in the sun eat normal food but also he keeps some of the super human abilities he got so he's got the best of both worlds. And I think he should either get his amulet back or get a new one that works pretty much the same way but maybe its more powerful or something.

True
Or symbolize him having to take on a different mantle and giving a Troll hunter one if it’s still there to someone else.
Imagine this troll Jim with no magic armor but immune to sunlight and wielding Excalibur
he would be fucking unstoppable. like, a human-troll wielding Excalibur?! that would be absolutely perfect for the union of trolls to humans, a troll-human with the mantle of trollhunter but wielding a human blade.
Same me 2
I prefer how he looked as a troll but maybe if they had made it so that during night he was troll and during the day he was human? They could have made their way around it. I honestly think that it would have been much better rather then him completely going human
Jim can be human at day and troll by night I like that
My only thing is that Vendel said there was a stone used by past Trollhunters to walk in daylight.
I feel as though turning Jim into a Changeling (don't know how they're going to pull that off) would be the best of both worlds.
It would require Morgana
And she's a little ... indisposed.
@@janusinitiative3520 true.
I agree with you.
I don't really know how to think. Maybe I'm just biased because out of all the still living troll characters (in my opinion), Troll Jim had the best horns
Yes i agree
Personally I prefer human Jim as he is more expressive and can be in the forefront of the narrative as apposed to being a troll
Human Jim prefers humanity too he's made that abundantly clear throughout the whole show
I think him turning back to a human kinda belittles his sacrifice.
Lore of Should Jim Have Stayed A Troll? ⎮A Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia Discussion momentum 100
I agree
I personally like them both. I was happy when he turned human but upset at the same time when he no longer had powers
Maybe he should be a sort of changeling
I agree with that idea
If Jim stayed a troll he would most likely be alive for thousands of years.
Troll Jim was supposed to be better. One moment he slays Gunmar, the next, everybody in Wizards is kicking his butt
I don't understand the logic
@@janusinitiative3520 he got hit by creepers sun.
battered down hard by two people.
he still has a bit of human in him
so of course hes gonna get hurt
@@janusinitiative3520 I'm pretty sure that the stones that caused him to lose his edge also damaged his amulet. It looks like it was stabbed in the center of it and that may be a reason besides the poison that he kept getting his ass handed to him
Thank God Jim didn't stayed a troll........ because the sunlight became his kryptonite and that really would've killed him if he didn't turn back into a human.....
Same
Imo jim should stay troll and give excalibur to steve
What if jim can shift between human and troll
Like a changeling?
Personally I think he should’ve been able to switch between Troll Jim Human Jim and Monster Jim
Actually maybe that would have been better
I prefer human Jim, I can't wait to see him with his normal life again! it makes me very happy, I'm looking forward to seeing him with Excalibur too XD💙✨
As watching Troll hunters it was very good to be honest him as
A human was better and I liked at the of rise of titans where he goes back in time and givesTopy a big
Hug even though it’s sad that Topy doesn’t know he saved the world
Maybe if the elixir only made him a troll temporarily, or maybe one of the stones from the amulet can turn him into a troll, but it's hard to revert back.
Here's a "novel" idea: turn Jim into a Changeling, that way we CAN have both Human Jim and Troll Jim
And when he's not wearing his armor he turn into a human again so he can do the human things he enjoys.💙
(🤓)
agreed. that's creative.
To be frank I don't mind Jim as a troll or normal Jim but of course that's just my opinion
I think the jim troll is better he looks more handsome and cool and grown up warrior 😎
(This is at least what if feels like for me)
(Has nothing to do with the comment but I binged Troll Hunters like 10 times watched the finale battle over 20 times and watched Wizards 8 times some times stopping before Jim’s transformation, and I just ignore the movie exists)
He could stay in the sun there’s a stone for that
I prefer troll Jim he has his Beauty and the Beast won't look to him it just is more personal to see in lot cooler to see Jim as a troll with the blue armor the sideburns the way is faces shapes he just looks a little more manlier like when Jimmy when Jim is a troll he looks like a 30 year old man
I like Jim as both.
The real problem is Jim no longer has the amulet Excalibur is nothing compared to the amulet
Which one is better
Yeah I would’ve preferred that he stayed as a troll to show him his acceptance as the Trollhunter. But I did loved him as a human where it shows that even though he’s the trollhunter, he still has his humanity
He should've still been a troll
Trollhunters Good
3below Bad
Wizards Good
I didn't like Jim turning into a troll permanently, I feel like it severely limited him in that he could only go out at night.
I would love if Jim was a new species of changeling that didn’ need a bond or have a familiar.
I think that it would be great if jim is changeline because he can be and troll and human
Team human Jim
The thing that bugs me the most though is that they never gave a Reason to WHY Jim was able to turn back into a human once he essentially "died" if they had a solid reason then yeah maybe I could put it aside but they didn't..
I think he should have become human again because after all the sacrifices he made he deserves it but he should have kept all the same abilities he had as a half troll so he still has a part of that experience. And I prefer him as a human because that's him.

Fuck no Jim shouldn’t have stayed a troll.. I like troll Jim but Jim literally could go into daylight and what about his mom! He couldn’t stay home he couldn’t go back to school he couldn’t really go anywhere like he used to
Who thinks Steve is going to be the next wielder of Excalibur... cause I do.
i think everyone does
That is not gonna happen defintily ink it wont happen jim will wield excalibur
Sorry If I spelled anything wrong or my grammar is not right
I like both versions of him equally, though i prefer his troll design
I liked him turning back into a human it was a good development for claire and him
I feel like turning Jim back into a human completely ruins his character development and maturity that he undertook during season 3.
In my op, it would be cool if he was a changling.
They could be like a stone or something at Gunmars birth place and they use it to make Merlin come back to life so Jim some how Merlin douxie morganna that tree thing and Claire plus the ghosts from the past troll hunters will craft a new amulet
A true man i believe something like that is going to happen
I wish we got more of troll Jim because we only got Him being a bad ass in the season 3 finale but in wizards he was just too weak I wish he was a badass in the Killahead parts like he was in the finale but oh well
Plus the was literally a Triumbric stone for walking in daylong so that’s a whole plot right there find the stone
Jim was the first human trollhunter and he was the best trollhunter that ever lived, yet merlin says "You must be troll and hunter"
And turns him into a troll
I prefer troll jim bacause he killed gunmar the black he
and turning human was a very good moment for claire.
Wasn't there a stone that allowed trolls in walk in daylight? That would've fixed the problem of him only being able to fight at night.
I think turning Jim into a troll was ONLY necessary for him to beat Gunmar permanently
The great thing about his story of how great he was as the Trollhunter in spite of him being human
AJ Universe said it better than I can but still
Jim turning back into a human felt cathartic to me,as if it was proof that Merlin was wrong in the first place (again)
