Its kind of hard to decide which is "better" but I think we can all agree that Trollhunters and Wizards are both really good shows, with fire theme songs, and characters.
I love Douxie, but the fact that he had 10 episodes of screen time, vs Jim’s 50 plus, i find it hard to get properly invested with Douxie. Man, more episodes for wizards would have done wonders :(
That's actually true. He does have some character development, but that is just from teen behavior to mentor behavior after Merlin died. I liked that they were compared side by side, so I could see his past and his future self more easily. If we included the movie though, it would make me sway towards Douxie because his relationships evolve but Jim's don't. He gains more friends, more support, and gives off the same energy, but while also losing so many people that were close to him, like Nari, Toby, and Nomura. Jim loses people, too, but Douxie's character development during these losses is key to his overall rounded character. But, that's my opinion.
Each of the four protagonists has a different story arc... Jim: _A young man seeking adventure and purpose_ Aja: _A young woman who has to stop fleeing responsibility_ Krel: _A shut-in who finds companionship in an unlikely place_ Douxie: _A hard worker seeking approval from his father figure_
Technically Morgana was more power in Trollhunters then when we saw her in Wizards because she said she had been draining Merlin's magic while he slept for so many years.
Douxie was screwed over by the timeframe. I think he fits amazingly well into the world and complements the gang very well. But as you said, the fact that the writers went with "telling" over "showing" left him well under his potential. Time constraint wasn't even an excuse! Trollhunters humanised Angor Rot in 3 seconds? by having him stand up to Gunmar over his treatment of Draal. Not that Douxie isn't humanised... but the writers can SHOW NOT TELL in a short time period... End of rant...
I’d argue that it was more than 3 seconds since they planted the seed for his redemption by showing us his introduction/relationship with Morgana. He never wanted to do what Strickler, Bulgar, or even Morgana wanted, but she took his soul and they all used it to control him. After years of being a pawn for other peoples games, he became jaded and angry, taking it all out on his targets. Even after standing up for Draal, he wasn’t 100% with the Trollhunters. Jim still had to remind him who he was in the beginning and at his core.
I feel like if we gave it extra episodes it would have turned into rise of the titans but then again this comment was made three years ago so I don’t think rise of titans was a thing yet
Heres one vital fact if merlin was awake at the end of trollhunters why didn't he get douxe and give hiim s master wand? It woild have been sooo sooo easy and jim wouldn't have had to become a troll my theory that is

I personally think douxie did have a complicated relationship with merlin. In lady of the lake, the Lady mentions he seeks redemption from a scorned mentor and he gets it gradually
Personally I prefer Jim. We get to spend more time with him and I like Human and Troll Jim's design better than Either Douxie's. But I agree that Douxie is way stronger than Jim but I feel that it's integral to Jim's character he's just human but with the help of his friends and family he becomes a lot stronger. He can't and shouldn't save the world on his own. Jim is just much more compelling for me. Claire though is my favorite character I love violet, shadow magic, and the character that's the brains of the groups. Claire just had it stacked for her to be my favorite character.
Woah now, I think it's important to note that Jim had fought and killed multiple trolls and literally the most powerful troll solo, he was awfully weakened when fighting morgana
Jim never *really* was alone in any of that tho, was he? There was always some help either from the deuteragonists or from antagonistic characters that suddenly flipped sides(tbh an overarching theme that's kinda overused in the series).
yeah true. he killed bular and gunmar and heaps of other really powerful characters including bellroc. I'd say he is stronger/a better fighter than Douxie, but Douxie just has stronger magic.
I definitely think we should have had a second season of Wizards. I would have liked to see more of Douxie’s adventures in Camelot when he was still a newbie and see that character growth and also see his bond with Merlin grow overtime. I wanna know his full backstory with Archie and what happened to his family. I really think this had the potential to be a full series but they just cut to the chase and the whole show just feels like a set up for Rise of the Titans, which I’m super stoked for. I’m hoping we’ll get a little more of Douxie’s backstory then.
I really do prefer Jim. I just feel we didn't get enough character development for the other guy that I can't spell his name because it keeps auto correcting me.

Do you think certain characters should have separate series or something to show their back story? For example, show Douxie's or even Merlins back story where we could possibly see a more in depth version of Arthur's fight against magic or even Douxie and Merlins full journey
Jim deserves more credit. He is really powerful and skilled (human and troll form). Douxies is powerful but half troll Jim has killed gods and he adapts and overcomes to everything. He was bodying Gunmar AND Angor Rot at the same time. And the movie made it clear that Jim with the new amulet and excalibur>> This boy defeated rott Bellroc in a fight ( yep, that Bellroc was more powerful than wizards Bellroc. He/she was at full power in the movie). Sure, Toby helped him out, but Jim was able to put him down before Toby's help. He has also destroyed his weapon. Bellroc's magic was useless against him and excalibur. He put up a good fight. Oh, Morgana also was stronger in Trollhunters. She was empowered with Merlin's magic. Anyway, they are both awesome characters.
Jims my favorit character too. but in trollhunters rise of titans i really think they nerfed douxie like he was able to 2v1 the arcane order than he basiclly got destroyed by them in the train scene and everywhere else
Yeah I agree. I love Jim and I think he's a really strong character. Killing Gunmar was not easy and he definitely could have taken Bellroc as he technically already did.

Steve has one of the best character arcs in tales of Arcadia! It doesn’t feel cliche or overblown and it happens naturally while progressing the story. Creepslayers is one of my favourite episodes for the Steve and Eli content and I find it hilarious their dynamics with each other and their classmates. The flowing episode The Reckless Club is a gem too!!! Skullcrusher, Airheads and Where is my mind are also good episodes to see more of Steve. Oh and OF COURSE *3Below!!!!* I loved Steve in it and his relationship with Aja. Really shows how far Steve had come since being a bully. I can’t remember many episodes but lightening in a bottle was notable because he tried so hard to find Aja’s serrator for her (which shows he’s becoming more selfless)
Both seem like the same in certain levels and different on others. Wizards was going to have a couple seasons planned, so to see Douxie is grow in that time would make him more like Jim but still both characters are awesome. 2 against 200 they would destroy an army together.
@Books and Tv Geek lol nah clair is no match for Douxie she always needs help to beat Morgana she's unable to do it alone. Also Morgana was awakened by the arcane order stronger then before and she used that power to beat Merlin while when Douxie got serious he easily beat her and trapped her. He beat beast Jim and 2 members of the arcane order by himself. Douxie knows a whole lot of spells that clair doesn't know and has used them
@Books and Tv Geek clair beat her in will power not skill or strength which douxie is an all rounder. Also it has been stated multiple times that Clair is a shadow mage while Douxie is not so he won't be able to do shadow magic just like Merlin. What I am saying is after her resurrection she got more powerful thanks to the arcane order. Dude he beat her at the end when douxie finally embraced his inner rock. Clair cannot hold more ground against Morgana then douxie did. You literally say he used a clever trap to beat her meaning he managed to outwit her also. Nah most of the reason was because she cannot die. She was killed before and returned back they saw that it is better to seal her then risk her returning from her demise. Beast Jim was stronger and more ruthless then half troll jim. His mind had loyalty to arthur but his skills remained. Actually it does atleast in battle Clair cannot compare if you are not quick witted and skilled and take advantage of your opponent then you are going to lose
In my opinion douxie is more magic, like magic fire and casting spells, while Jim is more like a warrior even though his armor is magical it’s not like the armor does the job for him he has to learn how cary at least 60 more pounds while fighting and running while douxie mostly relies of his magic as his weapon, to me wielding a sword and that armor seems to take more strength, agility, and skill Again my opinion it’s hard to put it into words it only really makes sense in my head
I known I'm commenting late but Jimis super powerful but in the end douxie wins they only chance I can see Jim winning is if he sneak up on douxie but if we talking troll Jim then he wins but if it's human Jim with Amulet vs douxie Douxie wins cause he can just use magic that can confuse Jim and he very experienced I'm not saying your isn't right but in my opinion douxie beats human Jim

Watching this and knowing that the movie is coming up, I'd rather have Douxie be the protagonist. I loved his character, I just wanted more. Wizards totally should have gotten more episodes to flesh out the relationships, delve into the characters, and give us some of that growth that Jim has had. With all that Jim has gone through though, it feels like his story is complete. We've seen him turn into the hero, and then at the end, especially with him being returned to normal, we can get to see him try and return to his normal life. I would love a look at Jim's life in the Movie and how he is suddenly adjusting to not being a troll anymore, not having the amulet anymore... just not being chosen any more. But I think that since we do still have mystical magical stuff to deal with, that we do need that choseness, we do need the 'special one' to step up. If Jim were thrust into the hero role again, I would feel sorry for him. He's been through enough. Sure, he can help out, but let him breathe. That's why I think Douxie should be the protagonist of the upcoming movie. We have more growth that can come from him because he is still so new, and he has more to learn still. I agree that Jim is better build and a better protagonist right now, but his story is done. Let's let Douxie's tale come forwards.

Personally Douxie quickly became my favorite character in the whole saga, charismatic, intelligent and very mature, I think he deserves more recognition.
@@miraculouslyx695 I did watch it, and I was disappointed with how much Jim it did get, but I was also happy with a majority of it. If I ignore the last 5 min, it would have been an okay ending. If they do more with the series, then I'd be interested in seeing that - I don't think I've seen something try and do the same things over again, but in a different timeline on a scale this big, so it could be interesting to see what small changes would bring. But if they just leave the world as is, it was a bit lack luster.
Actually, I'll be the voice of the other side because O see that Jim is winning in the comments. Personally, I prefer Douxie. Yes, I would have love the show to give him more seasons, because the writers managed to get me to care for him this much in just one. Of course we don't see Merlin's and Douxie's relationship, how could we with such limited screentime? We had the Blinky and Jim exchange in season 3. Season 3, I repeat. And Trollhunters first season was 26 episodes, Wizards got only 10. I don't think it's fair to compare 60+ episodes of character development to 10 episodes. You probably see where I'm going with this. I am siding with Douxie based on the potential alone, we only got a glimpse into his character, and I would love to know more. There are clearly stories to tell about someone who's lived for centuries.
I agree, poor Douxie wasn't even given the chance to develop the same way Jim did. Considering the recent movie, I very much wish Wizards had taken an extra season or two and finished off the show that way, instead of the movie.

Same, after watching Wizards I coudn't stop wishing for them to give it another 30 eps or so. Its just that I love Wizards but it lacked episodes it kind of felt rushed, which is sad. When its the one that has lots of potential of being everyone's favorite... Plus Douxie is my favorite character❤❤....
My biggest takeaway from this is it’s hard to decide who the best main character is, not just between Jim and Douxie, but with all the major characters. That’s honestly what’s so great about TOA. All the characters are extremely complex, with wide varieties of flaws, strengths, and weaknesses. We could easily pick out the strongest characters, the kindest ones, the funniest ones, and the most relatable ones. But determining what character is actually the best is something that can never be achieved because they’re all so unique, not to mention the fact that everyone has a different idea of what makes a good character.
I think that the series were well planned, if for example merlin had all his strength when he first appeared he could easily take the scene of the leading characters because he would be over powered.Likewise douxie didnt appear in the show earlier for the sake of the story. As characters they all developed and while some say thay douxie didnt have a proper character development they couldnt be more wrong and the writers did a good job portraying that in just 10 episodes, you can actually see how Hisirdoux goes from insecure and clumpsy to strong, more decisive and more humble. At first he really seaks Merlins validation for his actions and we see how he grows from there to make his own decisions and be ok with it. As a character i think that he has some similarities with jim, for example the bond he shares with merlin is similar to the bond jim has with blinki, father issues, both of them are kind, helpfull and try for the best, put their own life on the line, and the character animation also looks like a more grown up jim with different eye colour... All in all i would like to see them all back, it wont be the same if some characters are left out especially jim claire tobby and douxie... But if i have to choose one..my bias would be Hisirdoux, well magic is my thing what can i say..
While Douxie is a great character, Jim has a better story arc because he went through challenges that he recently didn't even know of and is always willing to sacrifice himself for others, seeing as he did turn him into a half troll. Douxie on the other hand was born into magic and has seen trolls, wizards and battles which makes it hard to compare his story arc to Jim's
Personally, I prefer Jim as a better protagonist, because of the amount of time that was spent working on him and his character growing, and over all, the audience really growing up with Jim and going on these really awesome adventures with him, but I was pleasantly surprised on how much I ended up really liking Douxie. Anyone who has ever been in a fandom with more than one story line and more than one protagonist knows that its easy to get overly attached to the protagonist or character that came first or you spent the longest time getting to know, so when a new one comes along its hard to really root from them, or even to really really like them, (an example would be the Percy Jackson series, as you got to spent more time with Percy, so when the other three demigods who showed up, Jason, piper, and Leo, it took a while to even recognize them as main characters because of how much people got attached to Percy). But when Douxie was introduced in Wizards, it was hard not to like him and enjoy him as a protagonist because of his strength and incredible character.
I personally prefer Jim, mainly because I feel like his story is more relatable, and his hero's arc is really inspiring to me. I like that Jim isn't just super physically overpowered, and he has to slowly learn new skills and rely on his team. While he isn't physically the strongest, his strength is his willingness to sacrifice his own needs and his ability to build a team and bring people together. So while he did technically get beat by Morgana, Morgana was only defeated because Jim took the killing blow for the other trollhunters, and then trusted them to handle the rest. His strength of character is true power, and it's something we can all aspire to. I still love Douxie though, and I think he could've been a lot more fleshed out if just given a bit more time; maybe we'll get some of that action in ROTT. I also think Jim is gonna get real OP once he gets Excalibur, and I'm real hype for that, cause I love watching Jim fight.

Douxie was screwed over by the franchise He had to pretty much share half his show with the trollhunters and was mostly just thrown to the sidelines in rise of the titans And his villains the arcane order were suddenly Jim’s villains by the film In the movie even his powers were downplayed, in wizards he was able to simultaneously battle the combined power of both Skral and Belroq to a stalemate, resulting with an massive blast of magical energy and all 3 loosing consciousness and plummeting to the ground. In rise of the titans Douxie is near one shot or knocked away with ease by Skral, Belroq and Nari, being easily blasted by Skral on the train car, being thrown of the nature titan’s back by Nari and being practically one shot of the fire titan by Belroq, taking him out the rest of the fight Douxie had so much character to explore and so much power at his command but we sadly never got to see it
Jim is my FAAAAAAVIROTE and I think Jim will lead it because douxie is destined to be the best wizard so he can bring back something BETTER than the amulet
as much as I loved Jim, there is something about Douxie.... First I hated him because he looked like a generic douche, but as I have seen him struggle to be recognized by Merlin and be acknowledged for his own merits, smarts, and power I started to like him more. With Jim we have seen him going from 0 to hero, a full journey, but with Douxie it's more like he proving himself to an overpowering father figure, and his moments when he does, and the making of his Wizard staff just won me over to him. Douxie is my favorite protagonist because he knows how much his enemies are overpowered, and yet he chooses to face them, while Jim has most of the time has no idea how underprepared he actually is. Also in his season, Douxie had 2 great characters for side-by-side comparisons. His younger self, to show how much he matured, and Morgana, to show what a fallen apprentice is, and why Merlin is so much stricter with him.
Oh My GOD! u just read my mind, this is the exact thing that happened to me I thought the same way and now Douxie is just my FAVOURITE character like THE BEST and I don't know how to explain it...... it's just...just ugh I can't even explain how much I like him.
I just wish that Wizards had 2 seasons instead of just 1. Even with his short screen time, I like Douxie more than Jim (not necessarily because Douxie is stronger or that Jim sucks, I just like Douxie's personality more than Jim). Wizards was soooooo rushed and the emotional or impactful scenes were overshadowed by 'what's next?' until we as the audience were never given enough time to actually process all that's happening
I love Douxie. I just wish he had more screen time and seasons because that be the the coolest thing ever. And the movie needs scrapped. It ruined literally the entire show.
Yeah i was honestly expecting there'd be a second season for wizwards but concluded to the movie's plot. And even from coming back to the movie, all of Jim's work for the last 3 seasons went to the garage and everyone's from the other two series.
Yeah. Which is why I didn’t like the movie. I hated how Jim still questioned if he was the troll hunter without the amulet. That was like a plot point in his series and he had already figured it’s not the amulet that makes him the troll hunter! It’s the courage and determination he has! And I would’ve thought that since by the end of wizards, Douxie was the one fighting the titans, he would’ve been made the main focus of the movie with Jim and Aja and Krel there as a crossover but they just centered it around Jim. I like Trollhunters, I really do. But Jim didn’t need to have the main spotlight in this movie. It should’ve been Douxie. It just makes more sense to me.
@@ShinoriDelfrim they really Dumbdown Douxie in this movie, coming to this I thought he would have more to do or more fights to have after seeing Wizards Of Arcadia. Not only has the plot line of each Series become Corrupt, they gave us a bittersweet end to the series. By ending it with time travel was cool but felt unearned.
It's hard for me to choose, I personally am not a fan of trollhunters or wizards compared to 3below, but both I've seen have amazing personalities but it wouldn't be too fair to say who is better (there shouldn't even be comparison to characters that's like comparing the actors who are real humans) douxie is of magic and is funny and a very kind soul, Jim is basically a normal human who was turned into a troll by a wizard, but if you took out the magic from douxie and the troll form and the Amulet from jim, they're practically just normal humans, they are both equal
Jim always because I love the show and I will never ever forget this show. I watch this show 30 time and I will keep watching it wen I ever feel down and lonely.
Final form Jim with the new amulet at the end of Rise of the Titans is the most powerful character. The power order is Final Jim > Douxie > Troll Jim > Human Jim. Also, Douxie did not defeat Morgana, he completed Merlin’s spell. But still Douxie is enormously powerful, coming only below the Arcane order and maybe a full power Morgana. Final Jim is above the Arcane order.
It's interesting because I actually started with Wizards (accidentally) and it could definitely stand on its own. I didn't completely understand why Jim was such a big deal in the series until seeing troll hunters and it definitely helped seeing the whole trilogy because it helped me appreciate the characters alot more but it was still a well made series. Now I really appreciate and enjoy Jim's character. But I loved hisirsdoux's character and was hoping he would be more involved with the other series
One of the point of Jim's character is not his power of becoming the trollhunter but how he formed bonds with the people of Arcadia; Humans, trolls, wizards and Aliens included. He said it himself "He and Toby" found the Amulet and not just him. Draal, Strickler and Angor rot became his allies and they once wanted to kill him. Angor Rot and Morgana is ultimately defeated by his friends and this is in defiance to Kanjigar's first rule of leaving the trollhunter alone much like his fate as the first Human trollhunter. He did the impossible with the power of friendship and much like the next protagonists like the Tarron siblings and Douxie, they get to be second fiddle with this trope in their storyline.
You make some good points about both Jim and Douxie, yes Douxie is stronger but only because he has magic but Jim is strong too though in a different way so I have to say Jim is my favorite
Douxie is stronger than Jim it was him and merlin who created the amulet that gives Jim the armor and Douxie he uses magic and Jim only has strength and agility that makes him useless against Douxie.

Sure Douxie and Merlin made the amulet but that doesn't mean they're stronger. Especially Douxie. Jim at the end of the movie literally had the time stone + Excalibur + The Amulet. We never really saw what else Jim could do with the Time Stone since he only reset time. Also Time itself>every character. The arcane force are within the boundaries of time. We see a future them and when the gang travels to the past they see the past arcane force. Whilst we don't know what potential Jim had in his final form

I have a theory, What if Eli might be a part in rise of titans because he knows everything like he knew that aja and krel were aliens and he also knew about trolls and nobody else even talked about that idk just a theory :)
i think what really makes it sad is that Douxie gets less than 15 episodes for his series Wizards, which Jim is also apart of compared to Jim who has three seasons and rounds out with 52 episodes plus the screen time he gets in Wizards. Thus the development is really sacrificed to keep the flow of the story .
Honestly if you consider the timelines fie both characters. Douxie had to spend thousands of years alone while Merlin was comatose protecting the world while eventually scouting the new heroes of Arcadia.(Jim, Aja, Krel, and their team members) He had only himself and his familiar to rely on for training, so of course he's more stronger fighting alone. He also most likely had to become more independent and try to not slack off as much, as he used to do in the past. With Jim, with most of his training he rely a lot on his friends and family. Unlike Douxie, he was able to obtain guidance from them. For Jim, it's a team effort. So I personally think they're both equally great! They just have different experiences.

I think the reason Douxie is more powerful than Jim is because you are judging them on the basis of magic. Morgana and Douxie are wizards and magic is their strong suite hence why Douxie could beat her and Jim couldn’t. Jim wields magical weapons and items but he can’t use magic itself. However in hand to hand combat and strength, I think Jim would pull out ahead. I believe both are equally powerful but just in different ways. Jim trained to fight trolls as the trollhunter and Douxie trained in the art of magic as a wizard so it would be difficult to accurately comprehend their strength side by side. But they are masters of their own fighting styles! (But Jim is my favourite character! Nothing beats character development and the experience of watching a character grow and change over time, conquering new challenges and setbacks)
Jim’s best becoz in wizard too all that douxie did was to come at the last for just a final moment where as jim and claire were the ones who fought so if u go technical then douxie isn’t that experienced as jim is in the battle field he also has saved the world many times his character is more good than douxie, his story is also better than douxie’s so according to me Jim is the winner. Douxie’s magic can rival Jim’s Experience in battle, if you watched the vid it implies that douxie is more powerful than Jim, but i agree that Jim has a wayyyyyy better storyline and we basically grew up with jim for 3 years. But Douxie will beat Jim on a 1 vs 1

Tbh after watching&Rewatching both shows for so many years both are perfect protagonist is their separate shows not to mention both are very powerful in their own ways Jim with being the TrollHunter and Douxie being a master Wizard,and,Besides it doesn’t really matter cause we love both of them equally
To be fair, Jim is just a human with armor and a sword, and Merlin and Douxie are wizards, so yeah, it's pretty obvious that the wizards would be more powerful than Jim.
personally, jim is definitely a better protagonist by a long shot, he's gone through a ton of development because he had the time to, but i wouldn't completely dismiss douxie tho. he did have a fair bit of development in wizards (growing to be dependant from merlin instead of trying to gain his approval all the time, learning to be self-sacrifical after meeting jim, etc), but it was just,, really rushed so it couldve easily been missed
I think their stories in their respective shows can be summed up in one word each, Jim is about becoming, Douxie is about refining, Jim becomes who he is as the Trollhunter at the end through the story, whereas Douxie is mostly there from the start of Wizards but refines himself and how he fits into his role. I love both shows and both characters tho Hisirdoux is my favourite, undecided on Trollhunters vs Wizards
i honestly prefer jim, but that’s my personal opinion. i just feel like he’s a lot more intriguing, his character is really relatable and he has this special way of interacting with the world around him. he just gives off a really charming vibe that makes me want to know him more. i think he could be the most unique character i’ve ever seen. douxie is great as well, but i agree that he wasn’t given time to develop. there wasn’t much room for it. so i think jim will always be my favorite of the two

I like both, it feels like they balance each other out. Douxie handles more the magic side whilw Jim fights and does what he can to help with the gang. Douxie is becoming the one with a lot of the answeres that he also has to figure out while becoming confident in his abilities. Also as Jim had a teacher and training from blinky and strickler and experience Claire had to go off of what she saw the enemy do and what she experimented with. She got pretty Far considering but now with Douxie she has a teacher that can help. It's like with katara how her skills improves some over time on her own but when she finally got training with paku she improved quickly and then applied it to battle where the experience and her ingenuity improved her techniquea
i think jim and that is because we saw jim and his character developement he fought gunmar and bular and douxie is a good protangonist but i think jim is integral
I really do love both characters, but I honestly watch tales of Arcadia for Jim. But also it’s hard comparing their feats cause they have such different enemies. Most of Jim’s enemies are melee fighters and douxies are mainly spellcasters.
Douxie is my personal favorite *by far* . Jim is certainly more "fleshed out", but he still feels a bit, well, generic. Douxie has *two* key aesthetics: the ancient Arthurian mannerisms/expression, and his modern love of the goth/emo/punk rock archetype. Jim's got.... his armor, sure, and then what?... His cooking skills, Spanish-speaking habits (which are directly tied with his crush on Claire) and that blue-sweater thing. Jim's interests are never divulged, only little bits and his whole character surrounds only his arc and role as the Trollhunter. Sure, 80% of Douxie's character and power growth is offscreen throughout those 900 years, but it's at least communicated that it's *there* , which adds more intrigue to his character, namely a bit of a mystery aspect. Actually, when I think about it, Jim has a Douxie situation too, with *Strickler* . Remember all the times when we're told that Jim is Strickler's favorite student? Where's the evidence for that? *Before the show starts* This is why I desperately crave a prequel series that jump between magical and non-magical slice of life, showing fun stuff that Douxie got to do with Archie, and then Jim with Toby, before the entire series ever started.
douxie was fighting morgana toe to toe but that only happened because he went back if he didnt he would be in the sidelines and morgana in trollhunters is actually the prime morgana since she also drew power from the staff of avalon
I think the Aquaridian's are my favourites out of all the protagonists. I love weird characters. and there story has much bigger stakes than Jims. and Aja and Krel wanting to sacrifice themselves at the end was so beautiful. but if you like amped up characters, check out Storyverse. its a really cool book series about entering stories. the characters are really powerful, there is so much world building and in the later books, the main character Tessa storm shows a lot of actual venerability and actual growth. In this one scene she is scared because her house hot destroyed and she leans on the mail side line character without seaming weak. then, he supports her without taking control of the situation and does what william greenhill does best. tells you a story.

I think that, if Jim is fighting Douxie, without a strong reason, Douxie would probably win. But if Jim fought Douxie for a strong reason, ye he would smack him.
Both are equally great characters in their own way. Although; one major difference between the two is that Douxie is a lot more experienced and resourceful.
Excluding the fact that Jim/Troll Jim is my favourite character out of the whole franchise, I’d say Jim is the better protagonist because, like you said, he had way more screen time and character development in all three shows, and the movie. AND he had a full physical transformation from human to troll (honestly my favourite version of him), which lasted the last three episodes of Trollhunters and almost the full season of Wizards. And although I love Douxie, there just wasn’t enough time for his character to be fully introduced and, like you said, we were told what his power level was and we just accepted it. In hand to hand combat, if magic was allowed, Douxie would absolutely win, no doubt. But if magic wasn’t allowed, Jim would wipe the floor with Douxie, human or troll (most definitely troll).
I pretty much agree with this video tbh. But both Jim and Douxie are my favorite two characters in the whole franchise tbh. But it's no doubt Jim is the more developed character. We comparing a MC with 3 season vs 1 limited season. We may not have explicitly seen Douxie growth but I feel the details was there.
So are we just gonna ignore the fact that Jim and Douxie look so much alike? It's like Douxie is the adult version of Jim but is actually from the past (nine centuries before). I actually thought at first that Jim was already a grown-up in wizards but then I was wrong after I finished trollhunters and was introduced to Douxie and after watching wizards. The whole trilogy and the franchise in general is soooo good and definitely worth it, although I really do wish there would be another series or season after the movie. It's just really heartbreaking that after all these years, it will finally come to an end and I'm too soft to finally say goodbye to all the characters. 😢❤️

The reason why douxie was able to defeat morgana was because she was not at her most powerful in Trollhunters she was way more powerful because she took merliins power with hers (sorry idk how to spell their names)
Transitive property doesn't really work with power levels. a beat b, and b beat c, therefore a can beat c. doesn't take into effect things outside of power level, like the meta powers of being the main character of the show. Or the phase of the story and the beat the author is trying to hit. If you're trying to determine who would win in a fight between Peak Jim and Peak Douxie, you'd need to check if you're watching troll hunters, or wizards of arcadia to see who's got the main character plot armor at the time.
Its kind of hard to decide which is "better" but I think we can all agree that Trollhunters and Wizards are both really good shows, with fire theme songs, and characters.

I was honestly invested after the first scene of wizards.
That's actually true. He does have some character development, but that is just from teen behavior to mentor behavior after Merlin died. I liked that they were compared side by side, so I could see his past and his future self more easily. If we included the movie though, it would make me sway towards Douxie because his relationships evolve but Jim's don't. He gains more friends, more support, and gives off the same energy, but while also losing so many people that were close to him, like Nari, Toby, and Nomura. Jim loses people, too, but Douxie's character development during these losses is key to his overall rounded character. But, that's my opinion.

Technically Morgana was more power in Trollhunters then when we saw her in Wizards because she said she had been draining Merlin's magic while he slept for so many years.
Douxie was screwed over by the timeframe. I think he fits amazingly well into the world and complements the gang very well. But as you said, the fact that the writers went with "telling" over "showing" left him well under his potential. Time constraint wasn't even an excuse! Trollhunters humanised Angor Rot in 3 seconds? by having him stand up to Gunmar over his treatment of Draal. Not that Douxie isn't humanised... but the writers can SHOW NOT TELL in a short time period... End of rant...
I’d argue that it was more than 3 seconds since they planted the seed for his redemption by showing us his introduction/relationship with Morgana. He never wanted to do what Strickler, Bulgar, or even Morgana wanted, but she took his soul and they all used it to control him.
After years of being a pawn for other peoples games, he became jaded and angry, taking it all out on his targets. Even after standing up for Draal, he wasn’t 100% with the Trollhunters. Jim still had to remind him who he was in the beginning and at his core.

I personally think douxie did have a complicated relationship with merlin. In lady of the lake, the Lady mentions he seeks redemption from a scorned mentor and he gets it gradually
Personally I prefer Jim. We get to spend more time with him and I like Human and Troll Jim's design better than Either Douxie's. But I agree that Douxie is way stronger than Jim but I feel that it's integral to Jim's character he's just human but with the help of his friends and family he becomes a lot stronger. He can't and shouldn't save the world on his own. Jim is just much more compelling for me. Claire though is my favorite character I love violet, shadow magic, and the character that's the brains of the groups. Claire just had it stacked for her to be my favorite character.

Jim never *really* was alone in any of that tho, was he? There was always some help either from the deuteragonists or from antagonistic characters that suddenly flipped sides(tbh an overarching theme that's kinda overused in the series).

I definitely think we should have had a second season of Wizards. I would have liked to see more of Douxie’s adventures in Camelot when he was still a newbie and see that character growth and also see his bond with Merlin grow overtime. I wanna know his full backstory with Archie and what happened to his family. I really think this had the potential to be a full series but they just cut to the chase and the whole show just feels like a set up for Rise of the Titans, which I’m super stoked for. I’m hoping we’ll get a little more of Douxie’s backstory then.

This boy defeated rott Bellroc in a fight ( yep, that Bellroc was more powerful than wizards Bellroc. He/she was at full power in the movie). Sure, Toby helped him out, but Jim was able to put him down before Toby's help. He has also destroyed his weapon. Bellroc's magic was useless against him and excalibur. He put up a good fight. Oh, Morgana also was stronger in Trollhunters. She was empowered with Merlin's magic.
Anyway, they are both awesome characters.

Steve has one of the best character arcs in tales of Arcadia! It doesn’t feel cliche or overblown and it happens naturally while progressing the story. Creepslayers is one of my favourite episodes for the Steve and Eli content and I find it hilarious their dynamics with each other and their classmates. The flowing episode The Reckless Club is a gem too!!! Skullcrusher, Airheads and Where is my mind are also good episodes to see more of Steve. Oh and OF COURSE *3Below!!!!* I loved Steve in it and his relationship with Aja. Really shows how far Steve had come since being a bully. I can’t remember many episodes but lightening in a bottle was notable because he tried so hard to find Aja’s serrator for her (which shows he’s becoming more selfless)

Also Morgana was awakened by the arcane order stronger then before and she used that power to beat Merlin while when Douxie got serious he easily beat her and trapped her. He beat beast Jim and 2 members of the arcane order by himself. Douxie knows a whole lot of spells that clair doesn't know and has used them

Also it has been stated multiple times that Clair is a shadow mage while Douxie is not so he won't be able to do shadow magic just like Merlin.
What I am saying is after her resurrection she got more powerful thanks to the arcane order. Dude he beat her at the end when douxie finally embraced his inner rock. Clair cannot hold more ground against Morgana then douxie did. You literally say he used a clever trap to beat her meaning he managed to outwit her also. Nah most of the reason was because she cannot die. She was killed before and returned back they saw that it is better to seal her then risk her returning from her demise.
Beast Jim was stronger and more ruthless then half troll jim. His mind had loyalty to arthur but his skills remained. Actually it does atleast in battle Clair cannot compare if you are not quick witted and skilled and take advantage of your opponent then you are going to lose

In my opinion douxie is more magic, like magic fire and casting spells, while Jim is more like a warrior even though his armor is magical it’s not like the armor does the job for him he has to learn how cary at least 60 more pounds while fighting and running while douxie mostly relies of his magic as his weapon, to me wielding a sword and that armor seems to take more strength, agility, and skill

Watching this and knowing that the movie is coming up, I'd rather have Douxie be the protagonist. I loved his character, I just wanted more. Wizards totally should have gotten more episodes to flesh out the relationships, delve into the characters, and give us some of that growth that Jim has had.
With all that Jim has gone through though, it feels like his story is complete. We've seen him turn into the hero, and then at the end, especially with him being returned to normal, we can get to see him try and return to his normal life. I would love a look at Jim's life in the Movie and how he is suddenly adjusting to not being a troll anymore, not having the amulet anymore... just not being chosen any more. But I think that since we do still have mystical magical stuff to deal with, that we do need that choseness, we do need the 'special one' to step up. If Jim were thrust into the hero role again, I would feel sorry for him. He's been through enough. Sure, he can help out, but let him breathe.
That's why I think Douxie should be the protagonist of the upcoming movie. We have more growth that can come from him because he is still so new, and he has more to learn still.
I agree that Jim is better build and a better protagonist right now, but his story is done. Let's let Douxie's tale come forwards.

@@miraculouslyx695 I did watch it, and I was disappointed with how much Jim it did get, but I was also happy with a majority of it. If I ignore the last 5 min, it would have been an okay ending. If they do more with the series, then I'd be interested in seeing that - I don't think I've seen something try and do the same things over again, but in a different timeline on a scale this big, so it could be interesting to see what small changes would bring. But if they just leave the world as is, it was a bit lack luster.

Yes, I would have love the show to give him more seasons, because the writers managed to get me to care for him this much in just one. Of course we don't see Merlin's and Douxie's relationship, how could we with such limited screentime? We had the Blinky and Jim exchange in season 3. Season 3, I repeat. And Trollhunters first season was 26 episodes, Wizards got only 10.
I don't think it's fair to compare 60+ episodes of character development to 10 episodes.
You probably see where I'm going with this. I am siding with Douxie based on the potential alone, we only got a glimpse into his character, and I would love to know more. There are clearly stories to tell about someone who's lived for centuries.
I agree, poor Douxie wasn't even given the chance to develop the same way Jim did. Considering the recent movie, I very much wish Wizards had taken an extra season or two and finished off the show that way, instead of the movie.

My biggest takeaway from this is it’s hard to decide who the best main character is, not just between Jim and Douxie, but with all the major characters.
That’s honestly what’s so great about TOA. All the characters are extremely complex, with wide varieties of flaws, strengths, and weaknesses. We could easily pick out the strongest characters, the kindest ones, the funniest ones, and the most relatable ones. But determining what character is actually the best is something that can never be achieved because they’re all so unique, not to mention the fact that everyone has a different idea of what makes a good character.
I think that the series were well planned, if for example merlin had all his strength when he first appeared he could easily take the scene of the leading characters because he would be over powered.Likewise douxie didnt appear in the show earlier for the sake of the story.
As characters they all developed and while some say thay douxie didnt have a proper character development they couldnt be more wrong and the writers did a good job portraying that in just 10 episodes, you can actually see how Hisirdoux goes from insecure and clumpsy to strong, more decisive and more humble. At first he really seaks Merlins validation for his actions and we see how he grows from there to make his own decisions and be ok with it.
As a character i think that he has some similarities with jim, for example the bond he shares with merlin is similar to the bond jim has with blinki, father issues, both of them are kind, helpfull and try for the best, put their own life on the line, and the character animation also looks like a more grown up jim with different eye colour...
All in all i would like to see them all back, it wont be the same if some characters are left out especially jim claire tobby and douxie...
But if i have to choose one..my bias would be Hisirdoux, well magic is my thing what can i say..

While Douxie is a great character, Jim has a better story arc because he went through challenges that he recently didn't even know of and is always willing to sacrifice himself for others, seeing as he did turn him into a half troll. Douxie on the other hand was born into magic and has seen trolls, wizards and battles which makes it hard to compare his story arc to Jim's
Personally, I prefer Jim as a better protagonist, because of the amount of time that was spent working on him and his character growing, and over all, the audience really growing up with Jim and going on these really awesome adventures with him, but I was pleasantly surprised on how much I ended up really liking Douxie. Anyone who has ever been in a fandom with more than one story line and more than one protagonist knows that its easy to get overly attached to the protagonist or character that came first or you spent the longest time getting to know, so when a new one comes along its hard to really root from them, or even to really really like them, (an example would be the Percy Jackson series, as you got to spent more time with Percy, so when the other three demigods who showed up, Jason, piper, and Leo, it took a while to even recognize them as main characters because of how much people got attached to Percy). But when Douxie was introduced in Wizards, it was hard not to like him and enjoy him as a protagonist because of his strength and incredible character.
Troll Jim and rott Jim are STRONGER than Douxie, dude. And Morgana was more powerful in Trollhunters series.
Jim damaged with a shard is weaker though.
I personally prefer Jim, mainly because I feel like his story is more relatable, and his hero's arc is really inspiring to me. I like that Jim isn't just super physically overpowered, and he has to slowly learn new skills and rely on his team. While he isn't physically the strongest, his strength is his willingness to sacrifice his own needs and his ability to build a team and bring people together. So while he did technically get beat by Morgana, Morgana was only defeated because Jim took the killing blow for the other trollhunters, and then trusted them to handle the rest. His strength of character is true power, and it's something we can all aspire to. I still love Douxie though, and I think he could've been a lot more fleshed out if just given a bit more time; maybe we'll get some of that action in ROTT. I also think Jim is gonna get real OP once he gets Excalibur, and I'm real hype for that, cause I love watching Jim fight.

Douxie was screwed over by the franchise
He had to pretty much share half his show with the trollhunters and was mostly just thrown to the sidelines in rise of the titans
And his villains the arcane order were suddenly Jim’s villains by the film
In the movie even his powers were downplayed, in wizards he was able to simultaneously battle the combined power of both Skral and Belroq to a stalemate, resulting with an massive blast of magical energy and all 3 loosing consciousness and plummeting to the ground. In rise of the titans Douxie is near one shot or knocked away with ease by Skral, Belroq and Nari, being easily blasted by Skral on the train car, being thrown of the nature titan’s back by Nari and being practically one shot of the fire titan by Belroq, taking him out the rest of the fight
Douxie had so much character to explore and so much power at his command but we sadly never got to see it
Imagine troll Jim immune to sunlight without amulet and with normal metal armor can eat both gross and good things and wields Excalibur

as much as I loved Jim, there is something about Douxie.... First I hated him because he looked like a generic douche, but as I have seen him struggle to be recognized by Merlin and be acknowledged for his own merits, smarts, and power I started to like him more. With Jim we have seen him going from 0 to hero, a full journey, but with Douxie it's more like he proving himself to an overpowering father figure, and his moments when he does, and the making of his Wizard staff just won me over to him. Douxie is my favorite protagonist because he knows how much his enemies are overpowered, and yet he chooses to face them, while Jim has most of the time has no idea how underprepared he actually is. Also in his season, Douxie had 2 great characters for side-by-side comparisons. His younger self, to show how much he matured, and Morgana, to show what a fallen apprentice is, and why Merlin is so much stricter with him.

I just wish that Wizards had 2 seasons instead of just 1. Even with his short screen time, I like Douxie more than Jim (not necessarily because Douxie is stronger or that Jim sucks, I just like Douxie's personality more than Jim). Wizards was soooooo rushed and the emotional or impactful scenes were overshadowed by 'what's next?' until we as the audience were never given enough time to actually process all that's happening

Yeah i was honestly expecting there'd be a second season for wizwards but concluded to the movie's plot. And even from coming back to the movie, all of Jim's work for the last 3 seasons went to the garage and everyone's from the other two series.
Yeah. Which is why I didn’t like the movie. I hated how Jim still questioned if he was the troll hunter without the amulet. That was like a plot point in his series and he had already figured it’s not the amulet that makes him the troll hunter! It’s the courage and determination he has! And I would’ve thought that since by the end of wizards, Douxie was the one fighting the titans, he would’ve been made the main focus of the movie with Jim and Aja and Krel there as a crossover but they just centered it around Jim. I like Trollhunters, I really do. But Jim didn’t need to have the main spotlight in this movie. It should’ve been Douxie. It just makes more sense to me.

Not only has the plot line of each Series become Corrupt, they gave us a bittersweet end to the series. By ending it with time travel was cool but felt unearned.

It's hard for me to choose, I personally am not a fan of trollhunters or wizards compared to 3below, but both I've seen have amazing personalities but it wouldn't be too fair to say who is better (there shouldn't even be comparison to characters that's like comparing the actors who are real humans) douxie is of magic and is funny and a very kind soul, Jim is basically a normal human who was turned into a troll by a wizard, but if you took out the magic from douxie and the troll form and the Amulet from jim, they're practically just normal humans, they are both equal

Final form Jim with the new amulet at the end of Rise of the Titans is the most powerful character. The power order is Final Jim > Douxie > Troll Jim > Human Jim. Also, Douxie did not defeat Morgana, he completed Merlin’s spell. But still Douxie is enormously powerful, coming only below the Arcane order and maybe a full power Morgana. Final Jim is above the Arcane order.
He had to redo that spell because Merlin was captivated and then passed out. Douxie also tried to help Merlin when he tried to complete his spell.
The bit where he says Jim needed his whole team to take her down after being imprisoned for centuries. She was awake tho

It's interesting because I actually started with Wizards (accidentally) and it could definitely stand on its own. I didn't completely understand why Jim was such a big deal in the series until seeing troll hunters and it definitely helped seeing the whole trilogy because it helped me appreciate the characters alot more but it was still a well made series. Now I really appreciate and enjoy Jim's character. But I loved hisirsdoux's character and was hoping he would be more involved with the other series
One of the point of Jim's character is not his power of becoming the trollhunter but how he formed bonds with the people of Arcadia; Humans, trolls, wizards and Aliens included. He said it himself "He and Toby" found the Amulet and not just him. Draal, Strickler and Angor rot became his allies and they once wanted to kill him. Angor Rot and Morgana is ultimately defeated by his friends and this is in defiance to Kanjigar's first rule of leaving the trollhunter alone much like his fate as the first Human trollhunter. He did the impossible with the power of friendship and much like the next protagonists like the Tarron siblings and Douxie, they get to be second fiddle with this trope in their storyline.

Douxie is stronger than Jim it was him and merlin who created the amulet that gives Jim the armor and Douxie he uses magic and Jim only has strength and agility that makes him useless against Douxie.

Sure Douxie and Merlin made the amulet but that doesn't mean they're stronger. Especially Douxie. Jim at the end of the movie literally had the time stone + Excalibur + The Amulet. We never really saw what else Jim could do with the Time Stone since he only reset time. Also Time itself>every character. The arcane force are within the boundaries of time. We see a future them and when the gang travels to the past they see the past arcane force. Whilst we don't know what potential Jim had in his final form

Yes Douxie did help Merlin create the amulet because it needed the combine power of two master wizards.
i think what really makes it sad is that Douxie gets less than 15 episodes for his series Wizards, which Jim is also apart of compared to Jim who has three seasons and rounds out with 52 episodes plus the screen time he gets in Wizards. Thus the development is really sacrificed to keep the flow of the story .
Honestly if you consider the timelines fie both characters.
Douxie had to spend thousands of years alone while Merlin was comatose protecting the world while eventually scouting the new heroes of Arcadia.(Jim, Aja, Krel, and their team members)
He had only himself and his familiar to rely on for training, so of course he's more stronger fighting alone. He also most likely had to become more independent and try to not slack off as much, as he used to do in the past.
With Jim, with most of his training he rely a lot on his friends and family. Unlike Douxie, he was able to obtain guidance from them. For Jim, it's a team effort.
So I personally think they're both equally great! They just have different experiences.

I think the reason Douxie is more powerful than Jim is because you are judging them on the basis of magic. Morgana and Douxie are wizards and magic is their strong suite hence why Douxie could beat her and Jim couldn’t. Jim wields magical weapons and items but he can’t use magic itself. However in hand to hand combat and strength, I think Jim would pull out ahead. I believe both are equally powerful but just in different ways. Jim trained to fight trolls as the trollhunter and Douxie trained in the art of magic as a wizard so it would be difficult to accurately comprehend their strength side by side. But they are masters of their own fighting styles!
(But Jim is my favourite character! Nothing beats character development and the experience of watching a character grow and change over time, conquering new challenges and setbacks)

personally, jim is definitely a better protagonist by a long shot, he's gone through a ton of development because he had the time to, but i wouldn't completely dismiss douxie tho. he did have a fair bit of development in wizards (growing to be dependant from merlin instead of trying to gain his approval all the time, learning to be self-sacrifical after meeting jim, etc), but it was just,, really rushed so it couldve easily been missed

I think their stories in their respective shows can be summed up in one word each, Jim is about becoming, Douxie is about refining, Jim becomes who he is as the Trollhunter at the end through the story, whereas Douxie is mostly there from the start of Wizards but refines himself and how he fits into his role.
I love both shows and both characters tho Hisirdoux is my favourite, undecided on Trollhunters vs Wizards
i honestly prefer jim, but that’s my personal opinion. i just feel like he’s a lot more intriguing, his character is really relatable and he has this special way of interacting with the world around him. he just gives off a really charming vibe that makes me want to know him more. i think he could be the most unique character i’ve ever seen. douxie is great as well, but i agree that he wasn’t given time to develop. there wasn’t much room for it. so i think jim will always be my favorite of the two

I like both, it feels like they balance each other out. Douxie handles more the magic side whilw Jim fights and does what he can to help with the gang. Douxie is becoming the one with a lot of the answeres that he also has to figure out while becoming confident in his abilities. Also as Jim had a teacher and training from blinky and strickler and experience Claire had to go off of what she saw the enemy do and what she experimented with. She got pretty Far considering but now with Douxie she has a teacher that can help. It's like with katara how her skills improves some over time on her own but when she finally got training with paku she improved quickly and then applied it to battle where the experience and her ingenuity improved her techniquea

I really do love both characters, but I honestly watch tales of Arcadia for Jim. But also it’s hard comparing their feats cause they have such different enemies. Most of Jim’s enemies are melee fighters and douxies are mainly spellcasters.

Douxie is my personal favorite *by far* . Jim is certainly more "fleshed out", but he still feels a bit, well, generic. Douxie has *two* key aesthetics: the ancient Arthurian mannerisms/expression, and his modern love of the goth/emo/punk rock archetype. Jim's got.... his armor, sure, and then what?... His cooking skills, Spanish-speaking habits (which are directly tied with his crush on Claire) and that blue-sweater thing. Jim's interests are never divulged, only little bits and his whole character surrounds only his arc and role as the Trollhunter. Sure, 80% of Douxie's character and power growth is offscreen throughout those 900 years, but it's at least communicated that it's *there* , which adds more intrigue to his character, namely a bit of a mystery aspect.
Actually, when I think about it, Jim has a Douxie situation too, with *Strickler* . Remember all the times when we're told that Jim is Strickler's favorite student? Where's the evidence for that? *Before the show starts*
This is why I desperately crave a prequel series that jump between magical and non-magical slice of life, showing fun stuff that Douxie got to do with Archie, and then Jim with Toby, before the entire series ever started.

I think the Aquaridian's are my favourites out of all the protagonists. I love weird characters. and there story has much bigger stakes than Jims. and Aja and Krel wanting to sacrifice themselves at the end was so beautiful. but if you like amped up characters, check out Storyverse. its a really cool book series about entering stories. the characters are really powerful, there is so much world building and in the later books, the main character Tessa storm shows a lot of actual venerability and actual growth. In this one scene she is scared because her house hot destroyed and she leans on the mail side line character without seaming weak. then, he supports her without taking control of the situation and does what william greenhill does best. tells you a story.

Although; one major difference between the two is that Douxie is a lot more experienced and resourceful.
Excluding the fact that Jim/Troll Jim is my favourite character out of the whole franchise, I’d say Jim is the better protagonist because, like you said, he had way more screen time and character development in all three shows, and the movie. I actually thought at first that Jim was already a grown-up in wizards but then I was wrong after I finished trollhunters and was introduced to Douxie and after watching wizards. The whole trilogy and the franchise in general is soooo good and definitely worth it, although I really do wish there would be another series or season after the movie. It's just really heartbreaking that after all these years, it will finally come to an end and I'm too soft to finally say goodbye to all the characters. 😢❤️

doesn't take into effect things outside of power level, like the meta powers of being the main character of the show. Or the phase of the story and the beat the author is trying to hit.
If you're trying to determine who would win in a fight between Peak Jim and Peak Douxie, you'd need to check if you're watching troll hunters, or wizards of arcadia to see who's got the main character plot armor at the time.
