Assalamu Alaikum, Dear Sheik Ahmed. From your lecture we learn the symbolism of Cain as time and Abel as space. Farming is chronological and husbandry geographical. Your lament on the death of writing made me recall a question I asked a philospher and writer. "Will someone write a book like War and Peace in our time?" He felt confident someone could. That was 11 years ago long before ChatGPT. Time spent listening to you is expansive. Please continue the 'Reign of Quality.'
Salam Sidi Ahmad, Many thanks for your commentary on Guenon -- always enlightening. I have a comment about why Guenon was mentioning the square root of -1. This square root of -1 as a connotation of time as the fourth dimension is an arbitrary choice. This brings to mind Einstein's famous work, opening up room for experimentation (building on Maxwell, Newton...etc.). We see a continuation of this trend with others who added theoretical dimensions (as in making up calculations so that they can build on previous ones), merely to take advantage of time (including Kaluza-Klein, Roger Penrose, Stephen Hawking...etc.). I believe even, at some point, Penrose (or others) acknowledged this arbitrariness as 'mathematical necessities'. Anyway, back to why Guenon may be mentioning this here. If we extend Guenon's logic, we can agree that these are attempts to quantify what is essentially qualitative. Time materialisation is subject to one of materialism/modernism's raison d'etre: the mastery of nature and its distance from metaphysics. In other words, this is an attempt to kill time for immortality. P.S. So, Guenon refers once to Einstein in his book in a footnote. On page 227 of the Reign (sorry for the SPOILER ALERT for your viewers), Guenon refers to Einstein, along with Bergson and Freud, who were all tapping into their 'malefic' side as they produce their profane philosophy/science. They were absolving the nomadic Jewish roots, and ushering in the lowest tendencies of humanity as they eliminate any tie to tradition.
These are wonderfully done lectures. I’m on chapter 9, and I intend to catch up to this one soon. I figured I would leave a comment on the most recent one. Please continue making these, they are well appreciated Dr. Ahmad.
Thank you for your support. I will be filming and editing the remaining chapters now and throughout the month of December. Inshallah, the remaining chapters will be ready by the January 2025.
Thank you, Saiyad Nizamuddin, for your enlightening lectures. Your insights are so beneficial in helping some of us grasp a deeper meaning of what Guenon is trying to convey. This chapter is one that I've been personally grappling with and was delighted to see a 53:58 upload.
@50:30 Subhanallah! So true. Similarly, to every Yazeed, there is an Imam Husain (Alaihis Salaam). May Allah reward you for another incredible commentary on the Guenon text, ya Ustadh. Ameen.
This is gold.

@@SaiyadNizamuddinAhmad You are most welcome.
Can you make another reading list video, particularly one pertaining to twelver shiism?
Saiyad I am curious, are you both Sufi and Shia? Also isn't it true that Sufism is considered illegitimate to Shia?
Thank you for making these lecture videos sir. Just a question are you a sufi? Just out of genuine interest.
Yes I am
