Legends of our great game are never forgotten. Good men are always acknowledged and respected. You Stephen , set a positive pathway for many other Brothers to follow. I'm sure today Graham Moss , and also Ron Boucher and more, has ya boots stud marks still imprinted on their shoulders. Thanks Brother.
Wow - what an absolute legend. And that he chose to stay in the WAFL speaks realms about the character of the man and indeed the standard of our great league back then.
It was reported that he was coming to Geelong just about every season from 76-82. We were disappointed he didn't but having just watched the vid where he played his 200th.....he was interviewed with a young family and perhaps the fact that there were very few Aboriginals in Victoria compared to WA helped form that decision. Looked like he was an absolutely brilliant ppayer....some guy who'd have seen Polly says Michael was better.
Been a history of shorter but more skillful indigenous ruck men. Stephen , of course Polly all the way back to the mercurial game changing David Kantilla. Stephen was loaded with speed a great leap and ridiculous hand eye skills. TOP SHELF !😎👍
@@IsaacAsimov1992 A very mobile ruckman, player he was. That's it .Would have loved to have seen him play in the VFL back in his prime.I know he would have been great.
@@paulkazakoff9231 I only saw him play two games because I was living in Canberra at the time. My mate was an East Perth supporter and when I asked him about Stephen Michael he just shrugged his shoulders and said, "He can do bloody everything!"
Always enjoyed watching this great man play for the Bulldogs. He, along with Maurice Rioli, and many others in that era drew the crowds into Fremantle Oval. Great stuff !
Best I've ever seen

This what the wafl was all about remember wen I saw this man play for south a real legend and real nice bloke I know I use to work with him
Arguably as good as Polly.
He's a different kind of player to Polly but he isn't much worse than him for sure.Just as spectacular is Stephen.
@@paulkazakoff9231 Agreed. Poll had the handballs, Stephen the mobility.

Farmer was better. Michael wasn't a great kick. Probably his only weakness. He had a lot in common with nat Fyfe really.
The greatest of all time. Thanks wonderful man for the memories and thank you to Jane and Eileen for bringing this together.
I've met Stephen a few times in recent years, He is one hell of a nice person. A legend in footy and in life :)

Lovely portrait. And his mention of Fred Senior, who I idolised when I was a kid, was very moving and generous of this absolute champion
Absolute Legend, thanks for the memories mate!
How many 6'2" ruckman today? One of The Best ever! Even better person!!!
Played in the Bush for 10 years myself
Saw this bloke play at Subiaco one time
