ya it puts out some gd sound i picked on up from a car boot about 2 years back unfortunately the tweeters were blown but that was no big deal the main system works fine
Got mine today from a ebay-seller ( after I had to return a 501 that had problems with tape- and cd-unit ) and beside the design and less quality feel it seems pretty identical to the more luxury feeling SL-HD501 in sound and operating. I am very happy with it！
It is a pity that ended the era of the musical centers. Previously radio manufacturers have always tried to impress their users a cool design, good quality materials and great sound.
Are you sure were talking about the same system ,technics quality was outstanding for its day and still is compared to today rubbish, pretty robust all round and not tacky plastic , pretty heavy too

Class system , love the blue lights , very robust and expensive looking compared to today's rubbish

I have owned this system. It was very very good and far louder than you'd expect for 34 rms per channel. It was £600 new.

It's a cool design, pity the finish is tacky plastic. I mean the main system looks really high end, but only for about 2 seconds.
