Good work guys and especially Greg who knows his stuff. A tip when setting timing is to paint timing marks with a small quantity of tipex before operating the strobe gun. It makes life a lot easier as the marks are then easy to see in a confined space in the engine bay.
Brilliant that Greg has sorted out the running and sold his sensor. He's deserved the hoodie. Love that you are another step closer to getting the truck sorted
Great video guys and a big shout up for Greg helping you what a good guy and now the girls will be flocking round him now in that hoodie winner winner lol 😆 keep them videos coming guys 👍
Well done it’s great to see that a subscriber has helped you out shows there are decent people around and you’ve got the rr running so much better well done to Greg and you both 👍
nice one lads i like the way you just don’t spend money if it’s broke look at trying to fix it first . that’s why you guys have short arms but full pockets lol ❤
i bought a 3.5 efi range rover classic a few years ago that was running rich, it looked like the previous owner had thrown a ton of money at it trying to fix it and then sold it. it was averaging 13mpg. It had new everything! Fuel pump, fuel tank, ECU, alternator, plugs etc!! Turned out to be the return spring in the airflow meter needed more tension, that was it! It averaged 19mpg after tensioning the spring and ran lovely.
The tps has a stylus that runs over a carbon track. The carbon wears away. I took one apart from a Rover SD1 and used carbon paint ( used in electric guitars) to restore the track. After some trial and error I got the voltage to increase smoothly as the throttle was opened.
Hi Guy's. By the sounds of what was said and seen in video. Greg (Genuinely) wanted to pass on possible long term solutions from his work on his vehicle. "Nice one". What a great guy. See you in the next one. Cheers. 👍👍
Ahhh I was thinking you lot are all snugly with your hoods up and Greg is freezing… made up you gave him that hoody, I hope he put it straight on! Taking shape the auld rangey but there’s no way Matt will sit on those seats… I’m having a mystic Meg moment - 🔮 new interior incoming!!
A TPS is basically a potentiometer in a water/fuel proof case. They are typically wired as a voltage divider i,e, 3 wires . +VDC , Ground & Signal. The easiest way top test is to identify ground and +VDC wires then measure the signal voltage as you rotate the potentiometer. The behaviour you saw on that one suggests the internal tracks on the pot are worn/ broken. Good luck resolving the problem. Cheers

Greg's is not just for sausage rolls... 👏
Fellas on the TPS can’t you check the wiring with a oscilloscope ?? If that’s reading the voltage right you know it’s the tps that’s whack ?
Should be able to test the sensor with a multimeter if it’s a traditional potentiometer
Oooh! Bonus episode!
So glad it's being sorted after such a long time. Regretting it yet lads? 🤣😂
First possibly, love the content guys keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks for getting the hole-shot in the comment section there 😉🏆 and thanks for the kind words, hope to see you in the next one
So the moral of the story dont buy a Range Rover. Great video lads
Send me those valve covers and plenum so I can at least make them look respectable!
If you're leaving the RR outside take the difficult to obtain MAF sensor inside - just in case.
Can you ask camera man, how much to run the bmw 6 series per month plse.....
great update someone who knows what they are doing ha ha
When I saw what was happening with the throttle body sensor, I thought dee doo dat don’t dee dow?
Old EFI Range rovers are sheit. Old stuff once they start running rough its over. Ditch all and convert to a carb.
