Wow this is really cool that legend hobbies is making balsa PNPs. I have all foam stuff(horizon /FMS) but having a PNP that’s balsa and reasonably priced like this really opens it up to people like me who dont have lots of time to build an arf (or patience). Having the servos installed like that is my favorite part, huge time saver. And having the motor premounted. This also gives the timber SWS some competition!🎉
Looks really good and its surprisingly big for the box. I would say for looks that a wooden prop would definitely set it off instead of the common grey synthetic one. I like XOAR props for wooden products and its no like I have not used plastic props but when possible I always go wood. They look better and the flex less in higher power applications. The plane does look fantastic and in the sun the green looks better than I thought it would.
I love Seagull Models. I have 4 of their planes. They fly so well. My favorite is the 85" Cessna Grand Caravan EX. It is such an incredible flying plane. I might have to get the 182. I bet it will fly amazingly as all Seagull Models do.
Balsa is cool, but if I make a mistake and crash a balsa airplane, it's probably going to be trashed. On the other hand, if a crash a foam airplane that I'm learning to fly with, I usually can dust it off, snap the prop back on, and try it again.
Flew a couple of times this plane.... Flew OK, although not my real cup of tea. It had a nice Cessna appereance, a little on the fast side though. On 5S it had more than enough power, but with a FMS 4250 550 kv motor and a 13x8 prop (I think), so in the end you'll have about the same RPM on that motor with 6S. The wheels are very small, and that nose wheel cap is NOT suited for grass. Mine had a bigger nose wheel to overcome this problem a bit. This is NOT a trainer though, there are way better balsa planes for training purposes. But it is a nice, easy scale model that demands some scale steering too (like using the rudder for a coordinated turn instead of bank and yank). And balsa flies just better.... People complaining that it doesn't handle a crash (toothpicks), never really repaired a balsa plane I guess.
They both have their own attributes FMS Is quite a bit smaller than the larger balsa Seagull Models CESSNA SKYLANE 😊 Wood one won’t alligator or degrade like foamy does … just a few of the many pros over the foamy version
I gave up on foam 2 years ago. The cost to value on flying beer coolers has gotten ridiculous. It doesn’t matter if it’s electric, nitro or gas as long as it’s made out of wood it’s got my interest. On top of all that wood planes fly so much better and the weight makes them so much more stable in the wind. Wood planes are built in a size that you just can’t build foam and there’s nothing like the presence of a large model in the air.
FOAM IS FAR FROM OVER....FOAMIES ARE FAST AND VERY EASY TO REPAIR....NO NEED TO BUY FUEL , JUST A BATTERY , NO NEED TO RESKIN , JUST GLUE AND GO ....FOAMIES FOR EVER...💯 👍
Yep. Foam is not done. Most of us cannot or do not want to spend that much on a plane that will disintegrate on 1 hard landing. Foam is more forgiving and cheaper. Ice plane though. Just way out of my budget.
Is chocolate ice cream DONE because vanilla ice cream has way more culinary applications than chocolate ice cream? What about the folks who just want a simple bowl of ice cream without syrups or candy sprinkles on it?
I grew up with Balsa with my dad. He would take sometimes 2 years to build a plane and they were all gas powered. My dad's best bird was the p51 he had to carve out the airduct and sand it down none this was pre-molded he had to do everything there were blueprints on how to build the plane and today its all snap and plug and fly also and all the wings were to be cut out and there was no as3x or safe he did all old school he put a receiver in his plane and had to manually set it up and no computer setting on how to set it up and taught me how to fly old school and those where the days when you had a gas power and used your fingers to start the prop and sometimes guys got them cut off but it was all gas powered back in the 70,80,90's and jets forget it they weren't even think of. Balsa is great and its the love of building from scratch!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Your dad is a true icon and paved the way for this hobby! I love hearing all of these things. The hobby definitely came a long way but the hearts of those hobbyist's back in the day were unmatched!

Great unboxing review Jay! It’s not at all difficult to upgrade lighting! Looking forward to test flight!
Fell in love with Cessna from the movie Iron Eagle
Looks way nicer than foam junk, nice plane!!
That green though 😍😍 definitely pops out of the two! Balsa planes just have some special feeling in the air 🔥 Excited to see this progress!

Wow that thing is sick
You are one of my favorite youtubers keep it up man 🤘

I heard good things about it. Windy as can be on Long Island right now. But hoping to fly early next week

Thats why foam is the superior material these days. Its way easier
Like your shirt bro!❤😂

Legend Hobby has a homerun with this one right outta the box, great job Jay 👊🏼👊🏼
🤙
when is part 2 coming?
Jay you are so good at getting rc news to me o a timely fashion. And making me broke
😂😂😂 I mean. Money well spent. A lot worse hobbies out there 👀
@@Jays_rcgarage completely agree
Love the high gloss, to bad they didnt add lights
Balsa and gas so much better IMO, gas I can fly all day. There's nothing wrong with batteries I use them to. Just like gas.
They both have their own attributes

I have one of these too lol. If you want some spare parts lmk I don’t have space for it anymore

Coooool
dont forget to film the crash
Id slap a OS .50 notro engine on it.
Problem with pre-made balsa plane, most will not know how to repair a crash. Not like glueing foam together.

Scale prop on a 182 would be metal.
Hi
Bro, you know that Balsa is not something new, right? Theres a reason most planes are foamies nowadays
Paul says much better get a slider and flies much more realistic foam is too heavy and flies too fast
Why do you try to sound like Rocky after a Brain trauma.
Probably from fighting as much as him. Heads a little off...

Wwwwww
This my opinion. I despise solid foam planes. Balsa all day long.
How much
I believe 500 will get you in the air
I want one
