It was the worst, most demeaning time in my life, those 3 years. You do not want to sleep in a shelter, or bathe...the overnight shelter has fights almost every night. Expired food given at mealtime, favoritism between residents and staff. The shower/bathroom areas are filthy with every substance known to man. Roaches everywhere and they crawl on you while you’re trying to sleep. People always hitting you up for money or cigarettes, or stealing your things while you are sleeping.I repeat, homeless shelters are not where you want to live.
What could I do to help? I m 71 and being alone can get rough some times. I am I living on 15 acres with two mobile homes. Now I have no running water but being a sailor I am use to hauling jugs. There is a 5th wheel but I just got it so I could get electric. I have often dreamed of finding someone just to have someone hear with me; my daughter died of colon cancer in 2016 and sometimes the loneliness just hurts..

wow,..I can see why many of the homeless choose to sleep on the street rather than go into a shelter. Those shelters are a mix blend of alcoholics, druggies and mental health cases in general. I've seen enough TH-cam videos of the homeless say they would never go to a shelter because they don't feel safe. I know it's not safe on the street either but I guess it all depends on what you prefer to do in a situation like that.
Too simplistic. You need to get out more and meet people who have experiences of abuse and health limitations ..... people whom you appear to have protected yourself from encountering. Leave your cozy protected life for a day and go meet them. Then you won't be so quick to post flippant over-simplistic solutions to their lives.

I don't know if anyone can see this but I have had many homes many places that I've lived and I have managed to screw them all up I am just about at the end of my rope I think about suicide a lot I have been on the streets off and on since the age of 17 im 33 now and it has gotten real now I can't tell you why it wasn't real for me back then I have had several chances many many opportunities I am a big screw up I feel like I have no purpose and God has no plan for me and I am going to repeat the same thing over and over again I can honestly say that I hate my life and I cannot believe that I am on TH-cam in a comment section puting my feelings out there I just need someone I guess
I think it would be really good, if women could learn to become more self reliant, when young. Never ever put all your eggs in one basket. Work, and go to school. Have your own bank account. If u r I an abusive relationship, get out of it. Don't sell yourself short. Domestic violence, doesn't mean it has to stay that way!

That's why I'm single. I was a single father who worked two jobs and sometimes a business that I didn't get because I'm a guy. Now that my kids are grown... Just in the past two years... 1. Three women tried to trick me into making a baby. 2. Four women tried to move in my place for FREE. 3. THREE women asked me to marry them. 4. Four women have tried to trick me into being a steady part time baby sitter. Question: Whyyyyy make a bunch of kids with several men if none of them are your husband and YOU don't have a career to support your family? Forget men. We're awful. We only want sex and no responsibility. And the men who have all the money, good looks, height, and status makes up the top 10% and they're getting all the attention so they juggle several women each. Women today are doing better in education and in the office. You don't need men anymore. We've gotten the message. It's only the bad guys who are still dating. The rest of us have walked away. My ex wife was awful to me and awful to our kids. Had I not made my kids early I'm sure given the status feminism and how EVERYTHING female is good and EVERYTHING male is bad.... Shit happens to everyone, I am about to face this very real homeless prospect and I am in no way blaming men. I have had a terrible series of bad things happen in my recent life and I am not blaming anyone. Life is hard and it can be a bitter battle.
