Was and still am a Leona fan, but it would be naive to believe her voice hasn’t dramatically changed for the worse. Way faster vibrato than ever before, almost like a machine gun. Before, during her X-Factor days and Spirit/Echo eras, it seemed as if she could effortlessly control the speed of her vibrato. Now, it seems like she can’t and she automatically defaults to the machine gun vibrato. Also, it seems like she’s pushing and reaching for the high notes or “belts,” as some like to call it. She needs to work on balancing her mixed voice. It’s too heavy, nasally and inconsistent. Sometimes, she sings in a dark place in her lower register and then she crams the sound into a nasal place as she sings higher. Her head voice is still superb, although there wasn’t much pure head voice here, if at all. She needs to get with a coach ASAP, preferably an SLS/classical coach. There are a few excellent coaches out there. But, to recap, she’s gone significantly downhill. Please don’t try to justify that she’s overworked. Um, no. Her voice has been this deteriorated for years, specifically during/after the Glassheart era.
The saddest part is that she *IS* classically trained if you know anything about her foray into music before becoming famous. Idk what caused the deterioration but it seems like her voice just decided to desert her💔🤷♂️ with no real cause or explanation. She spoke about it in an interview after the glassheart tour I think. She said that the tour really put a lot of emotional strain on her as well as the stuff she was dealing with in terms of her label at the time. She said there was something wrong with her vocal cords and it seems like the problem just doesn't want to go away. Which breaks my heart for her. Being so talented and having it disappear at the drop of a hat. But if Mariah's could m make some degree of a return to a fraction of the voice she had in her prime, I'm hopeful Leon's will too.
Her voice still has the size and range it always had and she's actually developed her bottom range a little more. But that immaculate falsetto range she could do EVERYTHING with is clearly not the same. She made the high notes famous. It's hard to enjoy her without them. But she's still a great singer. Fans can be so cruel

I think nerves played a huge part in this performance. Still think she’s fabulous. Have seen her twice in concert and unlike many famous singers she sang every song and didn’t mime to them. It got stronger and more comfortable when the commonwealth representatives came on and the choir started their backing vocals as it took the attention off of her.
Back to 2006 version is a young Leona , come back to 2019 and more mature Leona and this version is actually better , people voices change and has proven with a lot of singer's , you can't have that sweet young voice always , your vocals age along with the rest of you , beautiful version by Leona .

The more people leave negative comments the more I think Leona won’t sing! Fair enough positive feedback can help and people are concerned about her voice and are asking questions but to much negative criticism can actually stop a singer from singing again. Leona isn’t stupid she knows there are people commenting on her vocals so she is probably more nervous going on stage now knowing there’s going to be loads of people criticising her vocals afterwards. We need to all accept the voice change and stop comparing her to X factor days. Voice changes anyway over time but it doesn’t meen it’s still not good! Leona still has a great voice and power. We need to accept her voice now and just give her support and confidence. Let’s not be to critical of her performances and give her more positive feedback instead of negative. she has been poorly managed by her label and unfortunately she remains the underestimated singer of this decade, if not of all times. With classic song like this, comes out the real soul, for one time leona she needs to pick up the right songs by a bunch of producers and make her a superstar again, a diva, instead persevering like songwriter.

I noticed she shared a video on her social media and showed the best bit towards the end when she picked up a bit, but there's no way anyone can say that the first 2 minutes+ aren't strained, and NOT good at all. I watched her 2018 performance of this song where she had a gospel choir. It was amazing! She started a little shaky on both. Maybe here it was the environment and I feel like the band and choir was a little overwhelming at times. Closed nicely though.

Oh darling, that part is falsetto, not head voice. In fact, she didn't use any head voice for the whole performance at all. I said many times that her falsetto is weaker and unstable now but few people trust me.

@@GarageStudio7 I read somewhere that Leona often uses reinforced falsetto, and people thought that was head voice. Head voice is totally different. I am afraid of the truth is Leona's vocal cord was hurt forever. She has problem with her tongue too. She needs to find a way to cure it.
